No matter how many times I try it, annuity is not in this puzzle,
hi arb
Ha! I ahve tried it a few myself
FWs... that was hard
mundane is the word I keep trying.
Congrats, Diz
neither is antenatal, and apparently you can't be antinatal
Shalom Dee
Tried that too
wtg, diz!
soooo.... anyone want to help me out with the lower right N?

la 7 a sedative used in the 19th century without the first u
na 6 I think
Thanks, nan
ty cnan! was thinking of that word but didn't know you could spell it that way
I tried it with the u even though I could see that it wouldn't work.

buffalo nan
I don't see the first an 9 that someone called
still pretty good liz.
ty harp
That's good.
do you have the an 7 ru? --- the 9 is the latin diminutive
clued at 12.32, Ru
I don't have the 3rd 9
one an9 is a musical direction, the other is a physics term
mu9/84
Thanks - perhaps I'll find it :)
only if you are bored, liz
an 7- 9: part of a symponic piece -- usually follows the allegro and is much slower and more fluid in style
*symphonic
thank you
I have it now finally
Thanks, Rose - guessed the word - now have to find it
Kept trying to use the wrong 4th letter.
you need to go left
Yeah, have it now.
yay liz. well done.
dita
oops!
watch out liz.. you're going to piss off serenity now
I know! You backed away very quietly
I don't think she's normal
That was not pleasant to walk into first thing this morning.
RURU!! down boy..... lolll
He has a point, Rose
i saw the chat liz. i know what he is talking about too.
I've never seen so many abusive avatars and foul language
Sorry.
haz or Lynxxx would never allow that
anyway, as don says, normal is a setting on a washing machine.
I think she's been through the spin cycle .. just a few too many times
BBL to finish - hugs

goodnight all
good morning all
{{hugs}} and good morning dearest sprite
hi sweetie :) How was your day? *hugs*
busy, but good busy. i slept very well after the endone
how was your night?
ah I am glad. Has the pain in the leg nerve subsided by now?
it's not too bad. i am aware of it, but it's not making me jump any more
what's all this talk about fights in the chog?
ok, progress at least. *healing vibes to your leg*
i'm trying to steer clear of it, honey.
I am glad we don't have it at this time, at least. Oldfashioned babble fun in 'our' time ;)
i have been playing bejeweled 3 games. have you ever played them?
Can't believe there are 3 9's here!
beeeleeeeve it spellit
Nanny
I don't think so. Bejeweled the original game, that I have played, back in da days.
hiya spellit, indeed!
Sorry!
Not awake yet!
*giggles* I think nanny is out, spellit, can I help you?
Just come to Sprite
*arms wide* room enough for you all!
sprite one of the games you have to rescue butterflies which seem to be hellbent on getting to the top of the board where a nasty black spider is waiting for them.
ok that sounds like fun
I always do the F's first, but there isn't one!
*hands spellit a purple crayon to change some grid letters*
you can create star cubes which explode the board. in one move i exploded three of them at once. the spider was running backwards and forwards and there were no butterflies for it. i just collapsed in a fit of the giggles. warped sense of humour huh?
That's better I'vegot 4 F's now!
I love your sense of humour, rose!
what? fair, fat, forty, and fertile?
lol rose!
no wait, that's the criteria for gall-stones.
Sadly I'm only one of those...
fair people get more gall stones?
there is one more... female...but i don't think spellit would like it... lolll
yes sprite. well actually it is referring to the colour of your skin. it appears the darker races don't develop gall stones as frequently
definitely not. Since I don't have any Fs, I'll stick to the Ks for spellit. Kind, kissable, kool and kinky.
Only just over 3 weeks before I go to Australia for the first time! At least weather might be better than UK.
right. They are just better built, the darker races.
oh wow spellit, exciting! I hope you'll have a wonderful time.
spellit, i certainly hope so, although we have had a particularly cold winter
We go Singapore-Darwin-Adelaide via Ghan-Melbourne-Sydney-Auckland-UK in 7 weeks
wow!
I will need another holiday at the end!
sounds like a wonderful holidays
i see your better half has been here before but are you ready for the wide open spaces?
Haven't really got my mind round just how big Oz is
such another scale of things than what we are used to, isn't it, spellit
Yes it's nothing to pop to Paris or Brussels or Amsterdam for us. Jane drove for two days but it was almost nothing on the map!
exactly. We are really not used to those kinds of distances. For me, as long as it is inside the netherlands, it can never be more than a 4 hour's drive
On Eurostar last month we had lunch in Lom
Lom?
On Eurostar last month we had lunch in London and tea in Paris with no problem.
Really need food! off for breakfast - back later.
ah right, yes. That is quite doable indeed.
bye spellit, enjoy your meal!
later spellit
anything nice planned for tomorrow, rose?
church, lunch out. but we also have to talk with the vicar. an elderly parishioner died this week and his family is well known up here
we are expecting up to 300 people for his memorial service on wednesday
omg. That is some turn-out. That needs organizing.
exactly. and our little church only holds about 100 with sardine oil.
stacking up to the ceiling?
we are talking about marques and a sound system to bradcast the service to those who can't fit it.
ugh... broadcast
one of those huge tv screens they use at concerts and sports
already using one for his photos on a projector.
oh that is nice
and then there is the tea/coffee and afternoon tea food.
you are gonna need lots of help
phantom: laudanum
i know. it will be all hands on deck
close sprite
you be careful, ok? No overdoing stuff.
i know. i will only do what i can. then sit down.
oh... so sorry. Didn't have the la7 yet when I posted the phantom
good idea, sweetie. Let others do the walking and lifting... you just do the thinking
but now you do!! well done sprite
one more 9. 18 more words. Not an easy grid, all in all
yeah. i called it a nasty vicious little grid
I am right with you on that :D
there's the last 9. Always a lady dog when there are 9s and no 8s.
wow!! sprite. you rock
not really today, lol. It is like pulling teeth from a hen
or feathers from a frog
and rocking-horse poop
that too :D
it is what I call a lickety grid... one that I have to use lickety's list for, and not just for the last 2 or 3
9 to go
you can do it.....
2...
whoot, whoot, whoot
1.... drumroll.....
fireflies. Little evil grid
WTG SPRITE!!!! YAHOOOOOOOO
thank you, thank you *takes bow* I couldn't have done it without you...
well......not without lickety's list. xoxox
darling, I hope you will sleep well again and that the pain will subside even more. Lots of love and *hugs*
enjoy your day honey. anything big planned?
no, I don't do big things yet. Just some normal household stuff for me
slowly, slowly sweetie. okay? xoxox
Last four - an 7/32; an9/60; an 9/60; in 7/36 - clues please
What's wrong with dain. It's in my dictionary!
Maybe not!
I haven't listed yet, but I only have 16 words and have come to a screeching halt...so many Ns. And As
there are lots of d's and L's
oh and t's
oh you mean letter volume
not words starting with those letters
Nope, pure letter volume. It's almost a pretty pattern in the grid. But it's not helping me find any words!
an 9/60 1st four an**air 4-6 head movement last 2 short word for many.
nodal
oops
that was a clue i had trouble with Kallia.
got it Ron, thanks
have you got the an 7 ?
npe not yet
Stuck on last two - an 7/32 and an 9/60 ?
Still looking also for the an - not sure about Ron's clue (but still looking)
use the no 5 gave you lol for the an 9
OK, that clue I got for the an9. Thanks!
an7 musical notation meaning slow
tx for the an9 :-)
phantom laudanum
thank you Une.
:-D
Hi and good morning. I don't understand the clue for the an 9. I have the no 5
bichon, it's "against" your no5 :-)
nm
ty Une
Good morning.
hey sukee -- how be the kitties? :-)
Love it when you have a hard time getting to sleep and then the cats decide you must get up at 5:30 AM. You try to ignore them but then they knock something over and you have to go see what it is :)
Kitties are being kitties :)
:-)
A nap will be in my future today.
You and bich are also up early today.
I have dogs
Pet rule our days :)
Funny. When the fluffs are at my daughter's house they wake the whole family up at 5:20. Here I wake them up at 5:30
I don't recall ever seeing a grid where there are only 11 "starting" letters. So many duplicate letters in this odd one.
Not enough As I say :)
or i's :)
gm, everyone. clues for the M plz?
Hi lbd, I still need both of those :)
I'm still curious about what the odds are of a 25 letter word showing up in one of these grids.
mu9 is the state of thing being boring
mu6 starts the same and ends in can material
ty, molly.
TY, got the 6 :)
And the 9 :)
I would never have thought to try either of those. thank you again, Molly
It's a Twilight Zone-ish grid
I keep seeing the same word spelled from a different direction and thinking I need more coffee
oh god this is a confustrating grid!
Amen to that.
I'm taking a break for breakfast.
(((MRP))) well said.
indeed! LOL
(((dawg))) !
BRB -- must feed pups!

an + ***** Allegheri's the Infernol
ty lbd
thanks got it
thanks for the 7 and the 9
thanks for the 7 and the 9
I feel the number of words in a grid work directly opposite to my time - lots of time -few words, little time-lots of words!!
tadone!!! finito!! couldn't have done it without help and a to z! whew. will hand around for a bit to clue if needed.
mu9, please?
something to do with utter boredom and a can
sorry marc, never understood the clue
If something is boring it is mu7. You have to extend that word to get the 9. The 6 is the same first three letters and tin can material.
Oops, well I pretty much gave the 6 away, sorry
Meant to say "can material" that meaning what cans are made of.
mundane nor mundane does not work
that's right marc... don't get it
No, Marc - that's the right idea, but think of the state of being that. Use the sometimes vowel
it is the quality of being boring.... use the bottom d
the can has nothing to do with the 9, it is the 6, and is not related to the 9
thank you kje
got the 6
lati
on ya grant
oops
do you mean use the 'y'?
For the mu9, yes.
Hit tab button by mistake.
Use the first three letters of the mu6. Add Mr Quayle's first name, then a vowel, and then a common internet abbreviation for Thank You
mu9, MU*sters the old tv show + *** Quayle + take p*** on the monkeys
nice clue too dawg!
thanks got the 9 how about the mu7?
That one I do not have.
there is no 7
...which would explain why I don't have it
yes correct sorry
: )
I am still missing (amongst many others) the Es (both of them), the A in the second column and the N and U in the fourth column. I'm rubbish today
the last ta 5 plz
The clue for the 6 was "same first three letters and can material".
et4 volcano
arRRGGGHHHH
I've not opened the list yet so I'm clearly missing some dead obvious words
et6 -- begins with greek letter
ivesy, to tease
off to transport a beautiful rescued english setter -- later, all! :-)
duh..ty !
hagd, Unea
What are the full stats for the ET beginning with the Greek letter, please?
the 'e' in the first column I have the et4/4 what are the stats for the other 'e', please?
See Une's post at 6:29
et6/18, marc
Thanks Dawg
Hi all
sorry didn't get une's clue. Does it start with the et4 before it, please?
good morning, Liz
Nope, Marc, it doesn't. It starts with a greek letter (or estimated time of arrival)
hi liz, Marc e + eagle's claw
Hi Marc - which et 6 - begins with the Greek letter and then has most of the Ranger guy, whose friend was Tonto
Good clue, lbd
got it thanks
Hint for ad 6 pls?
Would you give me a steer on the ad6, please?

:D Gotya - thanks!
Have you been to Amsterdam yet, Matty?
Yep - there and back again - it was lovely!
I agree - lovely city.
We were very lucky with the weather
hope you found some good places to eat.
Did see a lot of scantily clad women advertising double glazing. The windows were lit red, no doubt to hide any flaw in the glazing. That's my theory, anyway
LOL! Did you go to the sex museum - it was great fun!
We went past it, we didn't go in. We did check out a condomory, though. We did not purchase anything
ta7, please?
I meant it seriously! We went in - got a lot of laughs. 1920s photos and movies amongst other stuff.
sunned skin + mr hawthorne
I don't know who Mr. Hawthorne is?
mattygroves will have helped with that if you look at 6.38
How about Mr Fillion of Firefly?
He's often used to clue this letter combo.
Don't know him either. Where have I been?
The Mr Hawthorn wrote the Scarlet Letter
Mr Hawthorne - begins with a consonant and ends with consumed
got it thanks so sorry to be so difficult
np
in 7 for fireworks, pls?
nm! Fireworks
Like the m9 only about silly stuff
Ah, Liz went Peri on us
Thanks - suddenly thought about that ending!
Have a nice day, Liz
Don't often do that! But the clue would've helped if I hadn't!
Almost time for bed here. Hope you all enjoy your days.
Oops, I keep forgetting about the time turn around
done, this grid is a tribute to mr hawthorne
any clue for the last an9/60 ?
any clue for the last an9/60 ?
nm...got it
can you clue it?
against+ opposite of yes + Indian bean dish
hi folks
da 6/27, pls
da 6/27 - delicate, ends in the sometimes vowel
ty Luv
I don't get the indian dish party :)
try the first 3 letters of a spotty dog Sug
hi folks
la 40 pls
la 40 = young boy + per(yearly)
la + ta ** (you did it) + ***b (no feeling)
la7/40 starts with a word for young man and ends with a two letter expression you use when at a loss for words. It sounds like an opiate
aebmusica had the much better clue! wtg
Ty Marj, I like clues that make one think it out instead of spoon feeding clues.
ty Mar, musica, Molly
I didn't even see it like you did until you said it. That is a wonderful clue.
Aeb, you should have been around last night. We had a discussion about cluing that started out well but digressed.
Some of us maybe
Well I came on at1:00AM and did half of the grid and went to bed at 1:30AM> Sorry I missed it.
Molly, can you reconstruct
da 5/14, pls
Reconstruct what Bich?
d + not uncle
never mind. I just thought it would be interesting to hear about the clueing
ta 5/10, second one pls

good morning, 39 to go
*dutifully marks down harp's progress on big board*
stats for the lone u, pretty please?
un4
hi all.help pls with the lone A and lone A next to it pls
the one on the left is the water buffalo
the one on the right I think is the an 9
I'm not sure it's a "water" buffalo, but lets not rile up the multiple personality people this early in the day
I didn't know water buffalos had personality to begin with
We busted chat width again.
Sorry, we HAVE busted chat width again.
nbt nbs finally
i thought the fat chat was mt browser. good to know
chatwidth sounds like a city in massachusset
No, I suspect it is the result of someone who lets their cat walk all over the furniture.
MY browser, not Mt. Browser....
The best town name in Massachusetts is Athol
molly seems to be immune to fat chat syndrome
I bet Athol is Charmin...
Not immune, I just hit the return key when chat is blown
I think I forgot how to spell that state.. thanks molly
return = shift + ENTER
Massachusett is actually the Native American tribe that the state was named after
I knew there was a double consonant.. just forgot where it was
maybe that will help
Methinks ru is trying to fix the width....
yes ma'am
testing testing testing testing testing testing testing testing testing
Has anyone clued the da6/27 lately?
for crying out loud, you fixed it ruru!
da 6 is elegant and tiny
delicate, like a doily
:D (mr. Fix it
ms Parton ain't so da6 harp
So it is. Like my hands (well, my hands are tiny. Not so sure about the delicate)
Ru is a master at flushing the chat
HAHAHA
Weirdly, I found the weird drug related (probably) la7 on my own, without any clues, just by chance. Can I find the la7.28 (or the 6/18 before it)...blast and darn.
... for the 7 ... do you remember who played Black Magic Woman at Woodstock? ... replace the "s" in his name with an "l"
Thanks dose!
la7 was a great movie Geoffrey Rush was in
For such a small grid, it's giving me a lot of grief
... that too is true! ...
it is a tough one
(refrains from the teeth comment)
hi all.. could I get some help with the in7 please?
... silliness
in + indefinite article (when the following word begins with a vowel) + not he or she (neuter) + sometimes vowel
Sorry for the lame clue
thanks!
wow.. I'm confused and I even have the word :D
Cos, you are one smart cookie for getting the word from that clue. Gold star for you.
I have four words left and I'm grid blind. Maybe a glass of wine would help. I don't yet have the first la6/18, the na6/30, the na6/18 and the ni5/12
Sorry - bad clue
no matty.. I'm impress how you put that together
Not a bad clue at all.
impressed
it was a good clue. helped me!
who broke the chat?
Ssssh, we are not allowed to chat about such things. Puppies, kitties, weather....
theres a kitty cat running in the dew filled meadow whilst a puppy watches
Can anyone put me out of your misery with those last four words? I'll find a nice kitty picture if you do?
na + what Jesus died on + an insect
thats for the na7
There is no na7....
na6 I mean
Ah haaa!
Three more, and cute kitties (I've resisted saying pussies) are all yours)
... la6/18 .... a bunch of computers in a local area + having consumed food
Definitely have to hold back from commenting on that one :)
Yay - brilliant dose. Two left
oopsie
And I still don't have that lone N from the fourth column...this may be the first time I don't get nbt until I've finished the whole thing
I dont have it either ugh I need that and the U under it for nbt .. 20 to go
... na6/30 ... short for grandmother + relatives
thanks dose!
... u4 ... to eliminate the completion of a task ... ... sorry it's hard to clue without actually using it
Thanks dose! One left...
duh that U was a fish.
It's CTRL+z
ni 5/12 is my final word...then I can have wine
... ni + three quarters of the effect of the moon's gravity on the ocean
Oh, silly Matty, the wine should begin BEFORE you start the grid
one more word for me and I can have jello shots
... I hope those helped rather than confused ... ... it pays back for my cheating so much and using morewords ... a good afternoon for everyone ... and may the words show up more easily tomorrow
I would seriously give up drinking if jello shots were all there was
6 more then time to enjoy the growth God and the voters have given Colorado
:D cos!
knew you'd get into the weeds with this grid
help withan7 pls
this grid sure blunts ones mind
an4 + another word for bet, at the casinos
nope. i wasnt even close with that clue sorry :( thinkig of a better one..
an7: ***y and amos + another word for bet (at the casinos)
Greetings, kiddos!
and done.
morning ms. judi
It's Judi Time!!!
It's always Judi time. And don't you forget it.
(Not to be confused with Punch & Judy time)
*•.¸.•*•.Cos*•.¸.•*•. We\nll done
Or well done (The annoying \n can bite me)
I've found 21 words and I want to quit already.
from a distance it looks like we nell done! :) ty
Hurrah - following an oven disaster (the door half fell off, and we have guests tonight for dinner - well guest) and I have FW
As promised...this MAY be a kitty... http://tinyurl.com/ntb8psl
I could, of course, be mistaken
Cute, matty. But soooooo not a kitty.
Pepe le Pew couldn't tell the difference. Why should I?! Right, I need to sear my lamb and then deal with my propped oven door to try to cook half a leg of lamb. Eek
Methinks Pepe was a tad myopic.
we have a skunk on campus at work.. it sucks because he likes to come out at night so we all have to be careful walking to the car when we leave
A few years ago, we had a bumper crop of them in the neighborhood. Dog got sprayed twice. Awful.
ta6, please?
Substance in wine which adds to flavor.
thanks
Glad you got it, Marc. Once I typed it I thought, oh that's pretty vague.
*Packs up a crate of tomato juice for Cos to bathe in*
ta5/12, please?
Spoil, as in evidence.
Sorry, that's the ta5/10. Ta5/12 is to harass.
good morning/afternoon, everyone
Hiya, Nan!
Yes that is it thanks
Hard to believe there are three 9s in this grid.

Munchausen?
hi Kap
HELL-o.
:)
I am working on my John Sarno Healing chronic pain stuff. (Started with my back, switched to my neck.) Mind-body syndrome.
Very interesting.
Is it helping?
I talked about it a few weeks ago. Yes, it is helping. I am back at the gym, I ignore correct seating positions, try to accept the pain when it occurs.
interesting
But the written work is a chore.
Unsent letters and that sort of thing.
haomework
Kaplan, since you are a therapist, what is your opinion of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing?
yes exactly
I am not trained in it but it is very effective for trauma and I often refer people to colleagues who are certified in EMDR because it helps them get past some blockages
Basically what I am doing with some of the mindfulness is reprogramming my response to pain. Probably EMDR would have helped me as well. There is so much incredible research on the mind-body interrelation but the medical system is not inclined to treat them as unified.
We get very intimidated and frightened by the language in our MRI reports, not knowing that MRIs and subjective pain generally do not correlate
So yeah, I am actually much better than when this first hit me.
Sounds like a great approach.
I'm glad to hear that you are getting some relief.
I hope it will be like a bad dream. Spine dr. said I have no restrictions on my activities. None? I said in disbelief.
Yeah thanks me too
the brain is a fascinating universe
and very unexplored too.
how come there are two Y's right next to each other?
lol. good question.
They keep thinking they are exploring it, but I think consciousness is as big as the universe
I agree that the mind-body interrelation is not appropriately used in therapy and in regular medicine.
Sorry, standard medical treatment would have been a better way to say that.
Wouldn't it be amazing if the entire brain were entered and it was learned that it contained all the outer galaxies?
Allopathic medicine.
a lot of patients don't want to hear it. They want "Give me a pill and make it better".
Most people are unaware of how their thoughts affect their health
true
It's not so much thoughts, although that is a part of it, it is also unconscious process, memory, trauma and imprinted learning that happens on a preconscious level.
What if we explored the outer galaxies, and discovered that the galaxy is actually the amygdala and we were outside and inside at the same time?
Or has that already been written in sci-fi?
probably
Either Huxley or Disney.
Or HG Wells. Or Marvel Comics.
one of those.
And now the weather.
:)
clue for the first an 9/60
Do not have that bad boy yet.

Congrats Matches
Bad boys are welcome here. Bad girls, well that is another story entirely.

No fun for the bad boys, then
The definition of an internet troll is very clear. Here it seems to depend on how much pity fishing one wants to do.

i found out that the vietnamese guy has sold his truck and will be opening a restaurant here in town in mid October...
yes, I do, too.....everything he does is fresh...very nice!
It's hard to find a street vendor who does things fresh. You are lucky.

evening all
whoo, and 9 right there :)
hey jes :-)
hi unea, how goes?
weary -- 2 dog transports today -- but all passengers were super sweet :-)
how far did you haul?
<<<<<2 of the babies :-)
300 miles total
nice
one more in the morning :-)
only beasts I hauled today were my own - moved the horses into town because the fire's getting closer and I don't want to have to evacuate them in a hurry if we have to go
omg that's so scary -- so sorry
eh. just a precaution; level 2 evacs are still probably 5 km off, and about 10 km of evac around fire
wouldn't have bothered today except that if we DO get evac notice, I'm supposed to help haul out my tech's critters too, and she's out of town...
which would mean loading my horses and hauling out, then coming back and loading her goats up... would rather take 1 trip if it gets to be a hurry.
have big fear of fires -- think I got it from my dad who was in the gas and oil business and would totally freak whenever he heard the town fire siren -- we lived right across the street from his distribution plant . . .
are the animals nervous? do they sense danger in the wings?
nope, they're fine. Other than one has runny eyes and I keep having asthma attacks from the smoke.
any chance of rain?
we had about 3 minutes of decent rain today. not enough to even really settle the dust that the crazy-ass winds kick up.
sigh . . . we had some totally unexpected rain today -- torrential for about 20 minutes . . . absolute bliss
sending positive rain wishes your way!
checking weather.com for forecast
FW . . . signing off and crossing fingers and toes for nice steady wet stuff to come your way!
yay unea!
