Bah, I open the puzzle and all I can see is 'intrigue'...
51 for 546 with one 7 and six 6's. Must eat some dinner....
73/1021 seven 7's, fourteen 6's.
oooh, just found a 9!
9 FOR 84
no way!
yep, thats it, starts with a D
Now at this time of day, we must be the UK bunch?
i'm on the west coast of the US, just up late
aha!
'night all, can't see straight anymore
west coast Canada- should be in bed!
70/4.93/1072
sigh. only found two 7's. 93 / 1054 good night!
Good morning all.
Morning! This puzzle doesn't seem to agree with me for some reason. I feel a bit word-blind. :)
MEE TOO! ANY HINTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
There's a suffix that will give you many 7s and 1 9 once you find it.
oh my gosh i found the 9!!!!! a moment of "silence" please
I did get the 9 earlier, and have 3 7s that have the same suffix. There are more 7s ending with it, then?
Actually, I also only have 3 with that one. I thought I had more than that. There's another suffix good for at least 2 more 7s. Have you found that one?
I found a 4th 7 with the same ending as the 9 and have 1 7 with a different suffix. Probably the one you mean, though. I'll look for others there. There are supposed to be around 185 words for this puzzle, and my first go-round only netted me 92. I usually see them more easily . . .
just came back and first word found was the D9. WOW!
I've got 5 7s with that ending now. I think I'm missing a bunch of longer words. when I had 70 I had a lower score than Dani. Now I'm at 90/1221.
There should be 3x8+ (this includes 9-letter words), 15x7 and 31x6.
if snafu was a word yesterday, shouldn't lipo be a word today? first go has me stuck at 83 words. I'm taking a break.
How cool, I have jury duty today, and they have wireless internet at the courthouse. Lots of time to find all these words.
since when is nerf not a word? doesn't this dictionary play sports?
I've got 106/4.78/1361 6xA 20xD 4xE 9xF 7xG 5xI 3xJ 4xL 2xN 2xO 9xP 12xR 11xS 6xT 6xU
So far this is what I have... 101/1345 2xA 21xD 7xE 11xF 8xG 5xI 2xJ 2xL 2xN 3xO 9xP 7xR 12xS 6xT 4xU I have the 9 but no 8's. My favorite word from Zork is in this puzzle yet again.
whoops, we posted at the same time. time to compare and contrast.
It's funny how we're so close on word count and points, but vary quite a bit on how many of each letter! I also have the 9 but no 8s.
I find I tend to be bad with the same letters every day. Like A for example.
Are you sure there are 2 8s in here? I can't find them anywhere. :( I only have 10 7s so far, so maybe I'll still find them.
Can't be 100% certain, but that's what the boggle solver says. It's been right on for the last several puzzles, but it could be off by a few words, of any length, in any direction.
Ok, jlm's list really helped me. I'm stuck on that 3rd J however. 6xA 21xD 7xE 12xF 8xG 5xI 2xJ 4xL 2xN 3xO 9xP 12xR 12xS 6xT 7xU
107/1469 4.85
ok now at 110/1504
I can't find that 9 at all and only 3 7s... A x 6 D x 22 E x 7 F x 10 G x 8 I x 3 J x 3 L x 5 N x 2 O x 6 P x 10 R x 13 S x 15 T x 10 U x 5 126 words 4.71 1458 3 x 7s no bigger. I'm off to cook dinner.
115/1567
I've got close to what fnurt has. A few more in some categories: 23xD, 14xR, 13xS and 6xT. With 129/1758 I still have no 8s.
I'm close to everyone, but have 9xT. I have no eights yet either.
fnurt - we have exactly the same count except for that J word. I'm off to find more based on Wendrie's list. I'm guessing the J you're missing is a 2nd 5 for 24.
there are at least 7 As.
Drats! I just managed to get to 6xA!
Anyone want to compare 7s? In alphabetical order I have: 36 32 48 40 32 32 plus the 9-84 no 8's yet.
36, 32, 48, 40, 40, 32, 28, 32
Thanks soho!
jlm_mi, the 40 and the 28 that you're probably missing are spelled the same, with the exception of the first letters.
my 7s are 36, 32, 40, 32, 32, 40, 32, 28, 32
hi everyone, mornin' as for 7s, here's my order 36 32 48 32 40 48 32
Thanks for the clues soho - off to look for them now. parsec - that's a lot of differences! Many new words to look for. :)
anyone have sevens that don't end in those two suffixes?
Which two suffixes? I've used three.
I think you guys are missing the -ier.
Doh! (hits forehead) As SOON as you posted that suffix, those 2 7s jumped out at me!
wait, actually i have three too. nevermind, i'll look some more...
Big sigh of relief, huh? LOL! I'm still missing 2x32 between my 2x40.
I have one of them, but am missing the other still too. Think of a carriage driver.
three in addition to -ier, parsec?
Boy, I'm getting confused. I think the carriage driver one comes after my second 40.
Sorry, yes it comes after the 2nd 40. But I have, on my compilation list, that there should be 2 32s between the 2nd and 3rd 40s. Maybe I have something out of place?
Soho - The 8 7s that I have now are the same point values, in the same order, as the ones you listed below. But I think I see the confusion. The 2 32s in parsec's list could come between the first 2 40s and be ones that we don't have at all, or they could be between the 2nd and 3rd 40s, but then there's another 32 later, after the 3rd 40, that we don't have. Not sure which it is.
Maybe that's the problem. I don't have 3x40. I only have two.
Oh, my Lord, I think I'd better quit while I still have a modicum of sanity!
three including -ier, soho. I'm having trouble collating all the lists, too.
my second 32 begins with i, does that help organize them?
And there are supposed to be seven more? Not from this keyboard!
Yes, parsec, it does. Thank you.
I only have 2x40 (and right now they are side-by-side in my list, but far enough apart in the alphabet that there could be some between them). OK, just looked back at the lists, and maybe there aren't 3x40 reported. Man, I need to quit looking at this before I go insane! LOL.
Helps loads! Thanks parsec. :)
Okay, if this will help us - I have a 40 that begins with F, and a 40 that begins with P.
Me too. From that, I think this is the order of the 7s reported so far. If anyone has put them in a different order, please let me know! 36 32 48 40 - f 32 - i (I don't have this one yet) 32 (I don't have this one yet) 40 - p 32 28 48 (I don't have this one yet) 32
I have the same eight that you do, and I'm missing the same three.
I go away for awhile, come back and get completely confused! I thought the 7s were in this order: 36 32 48 40 32 32 40 48 32 28 32 I'm missing one of the 32s between the 40s.
my 40s are the same.
Daisy, that could actually be. That last 48 is from Dani's 12:34 post, and all we know is that it comes between a 40 and 32 near the end. It could come earlier than I listed it. Do you have most of those words on your posted list so that you're more sure of the order?
Actually, given the math involved, it seems more likely that the 48 goes where Daisy had it.
I have all the ones I posted except one 32. But since there are supposedly 15 7s and I have 10 plus know I'm missing 1, the final order could be quite different.
Or maybe not. Too confused here.
uh-oh, i have a retraction. the i is my third 32, not my second. Sorry!
Daisy - that's good enough for me to start with!
The only thing I'm sure of right now is that there's an I for 32.
That's the 7x32 I can't get. Can you give me a hint?
the i/7/32 goes with an i/5/10.
think about adapting to bad stuff.
(now you can help me with the 48. either of them!)
ah! I had the 5, don't know why I didn't see that. especially since I knew the point value. thanks muchly.
I would if I could, Daisy, but I don't know what it is - only the first letter.
okay - think about surreys.
For the first 48, think about clothing worn by Buffalo Bill.
Got the I, parsec - thanks.
thanks you two! got one, will keep thinking about surreys...
The surreys clue and the buffalo bill clue are for the same word. The other 48 was in yesterday's puzzle. Took me long enough to see it though!
man, am I blind! thanks!
And thanks for the clues to the I! I tried that but doubled the 2nd letter earlier, so no dice. I have another 5/10 but could not for the life of me get anything more out of it. Finally stumbled on this one with the adapting clue!!!!
OK, just found the other 32, so now I have the same list as Daisy posted earlier for 7s: 36 32 48 40 32 32 40 48 32 28 32 There is a suffix that is not ing, ed or ier.
I have three 32's between the first 36 and the 48...
Thanks Kirsty!
One of the first 3 7s for 32 gives an 8 for 45. It uses a prefix, and no suffix, to make the 7 letter word. The 8 adds a letter at the end to change verb tense. It is not a common word, though its 5 letter base for 12 points (and its plural for 21) are well known if not often used.
I'm confused on the 7s here is the list I have... and I still don't have that d - 9 :( d x 7/36 d x 7/32 e x 7/32 e x 7/32 f x 7/48 i x 7/32 p x 7/40 r x 7/48
I think we're in trouble, becaue I just found a third 32 point word, and none of my three fit your description.
Wendrie, there is a seven letter T word.
I'm apparently missing an E.
There are 14 7s. *Kirsty1 saunters off grinning sheepishly* 185/4.95/2634. Phew...
The solver says there should be 15 7s, but 185 words total. So, there's a discrepancy in Kirsty's final statistics. Still, very impressive! :-D Here are my 7s: 36-D 32-D 32-E 32-E (the one I described earlier) 48-F 40-F 32-G 32-I 40-P 48-R 32-R 28-R 32-T
Kirsty1 - If you're still around, do you mind sharing how many 8 & 9 letter words you found? Any other hints/stats would be much appreciated as well. ;)
i have 30 D's. If there are more I'll eat my hat.
Can someone give a hint for the d and e 32s?
the d is a livestock disease. I would not have known this. I found it by taking an emotion and making up plausible suffixes for it.
and one e is related to an e4 and e6
My 2:28 post is a clue to one of the 7-32-e words. The other 7-32-e is a very common -ing word. Think about the stock market.
Ah - I have the easy e. I didn't notice. I'm still working on your obscure clue!
me too. (is pounding head on desk) what's the 5-letter base start with?
ooo! nevermind! =)
off to dinner while ahead. 134/4.79/1959. g'luck!
OK, I'm heading home now, but hope to check in after dinner to see what others have found. :) 145/4.88/2004 1x9 1x8 13x7 22x6 36x5 72x4 7xA 23xD (there are at least 30) 10xE 13xF 10xG 7xI 3xJ 5xL 2xN 6xO 11xP 15xR 16xS 11xT 6xU
May I have a hint for the 9 letter D word, please :).
Read the end of the 9:02 post for a good clue . . . It starts with a 4 letter word for 8 points.
finally got the 9 phew now for those pesky 7s
Yea! I finally got the 9 letter D word Thanks jlm-mi
can anyone please tell me what the letter of the 8 word is
i meant what is the first letter of the 8 word
don't know. don't have any 8s yet.
I am going blind here with looking for the d word. I must have been looking at it 100 times and I can't find it. :(
standing by the speakers at a rock concert can be.....................
good clue Minski.
fit1, the base word is a four letter word for 8 points. You probably already have it.
Bless you periwinkle. I lmust have looked at that 10 times and missed it. WHEW!! i can sleep easy tonite, although I am pretty dumb with only 91 words
See 2:28 and 3:25 for clues to the 8-letter word.
ok. I found the stock market one but not the other one.
I only have six of the sevens! I suck!
I only have 5 of the 7s. currently at 84/1093
94/1106 And I am yelling UNCLE. Niters all. Thanks for the help
me too. time to watch the 11pm news and go nighty-night. see y'all on the flipside.
I'm way behind on total word count but I have 14x T told myself I wasn't playing today . . . I lied ;-O
Hi all. I've got the two prison J's, but I cannot locate the third J word. Can anyone please tell me the subject of the word? I'd appreciate it :)
mulher -- a short or quick trip; 5 ltrs, similar to a D word meaning to discourage.
15 X F . . . but still way behind on D & G(and A of course!)
Good lord, it was right in my face. Thanks fixitfmly ;)
I is done, 81 for1063. G'nite.
mulher -- I think we get used to trying to find the obscure words and become blind to the 'obvious'! I didn't find that J until a little bit ago but had some weird ones! ;-)
