if you are going to be addicted to something, it's good to have something that still gives you that same thrill after years and years, lol
I have a problem, we have a new puppy and our sheep chase her when I take her for a walk. I know she will soon stand up to them. However when I google how to stop sheep chasing the dog it will only come up with 'dogs chasing sheep" LOL I have tried lots of ways of googling but with no success
v's vanquished!
that is funny, sandy
can't you just walk her somewhere the sheep aren't?
It's hilarious but not for the puppy with 50 sheep chasing her
the only thing I can find about sheep chasing a dog is "pet sheep chases dog away from its ball"
I do Hurshy , I look for them before I take her and go in the opposite direction
and I pick her up when they get too close
or if you had also a large dog and walked them together
LOL m9 I couldn't even get that
No she is the only dog - I know she will dominate them soon but I still would like to google it
put it in quotes
then the words have to appear in that order
ok i will try that
And this from the 1968 Los Angeles Times: How to train a sheepdog A fancier appeals for help in training; her sheepdog; to herd, as the sheep chase the dog. Give the dog; obedience training first so he will heel, sit-stay, down-stay, stand-stay, and stop whatever he's doing when you give a quick blast on a whistle. Then rent two to four gentle, movable sheep, not ones that are bullies or stubborn.
"Wanted to Rent: Two Gentle, Movable Sheep"
"Bullies Need Not Apply"
"Not You Either, Harold. We All Know How Stubborn You Are."
LOL I tried that quote thing, it says no results found and reverts to dogs chasing sheep. You are good at googling m9 - better than me thats for sure
She will be ok when she is a little bigger but I dont trust the sheep with her at this stage she is too small (jack russell 9weeks old)
Our other Jack was a very good herder
you could fill up a big thing with water and put it in a wagon and put a hose in with a sprayer nozzle and pull it with you on the walk and then when the sheep come you spray them and they get mad and go 'way
unless sheep like being sprayed, of course.
LOL Hurshy hillarious - there is a funny clip on facebook "world's worst sheepdog"
Probably the same clip that is in this article: https://tinyurl.com/67qbown and it does say that the mistake was putting the dog in with the sheep as a puppy.
Oh.. you probably mean the one with Nelson. Cute little dog!
yes I do (Nelson) Well I guess i am doing the right thing by keeping her safe from them now.
just watched that clip m9 . It is a lot like our sheep except they are more so. I will make sure she is old enough before I let her face them alone
Good morning
Yeah. Reminds me of my part border collie. He's afraid of children and little dogs.
hey ruby how are you today
Nearly time for the Tour
I refuse to whine publicly!
LOL good for you , I have just been whining about my inability to google
The Tour will enable me to stay in bed for 3 weeks!
If I stay up and watch it it will cause me to stay in bed during the day. I used to be able to go without sleep but these days I'm not so good but I am going to try
Not googling is probably a good idea because after googling anything, you become a target of specifically focussed ads and spam
I saw that on the news today
I google all sorts of things every day and don't really have a problem with ads and spam...
I don't have a problem either as I am only on the computor for email and this
I googled "whey" on day because I eat curds and way every day and wanted to know if it had food value. Ever since,I've received ads for dried whey ad other dietary suppléments. Next, they'll be advertising "tuffets"
curds and whey
Or little frilly dresses
so come on down to Tuffetz R us!
LOL I have never eaten whey, can you describe it?
hahah
or curds
isn't it like cottage cheese> or is that the curds.
ooh I love cottage cheese
The French call it "petit lait'; it's the liquid that comes out of solidified milk (in maing cheese)
Is it like Yakult?
Similar to cottage cheese but smoother (the curds) and the whey is slightly slty and a bit sour, a perfect sip for hot days
<-- eats too much dairy
sounds nice
ta 7 iuf not called
Most people eat the curds with raspberry "coulis" (a thin sauce) but I just add sugar and eat it on the deck in th sunshine
Now to "work" hahah
Would somebody please make me another coffee?
rash
great I didn't have that
sorry, nel will stop talking
It's good not to have that one :-)
lucky me but I have it now
This is a nice chunky grid!
Hi all, hi and hugs, Ruby.
Last night I watched a cooking programme set in Annecy - what beautiful surroundings you live in.
Unfortunhately, Annecy = bad cà oking (unless the like fondu)
and hello Liz
What show was that Liz?
They showed an amazing cheese shop - Pierre Gay, I think it was.
An English chef - James Martin - he's travelling around France
I thought I might get it also as I am in australia So is it called "An English Chef"
Yes, the cheese here is great and the old part of town has unrestored 18th c; buildings
No - James Martin's French adventures
I will keep an eye out
Foxtell?
I love cheese! They showed some of the older part of town and a lot of the lake.
Aaahh, French adventures -- I've had my share!
Hmm, I bet you have!!
It is really beautiful here, but too many tourists, very few of them American
It looks beautiful. Perhaps one day I'll get to that area.
Where are most tourists from? In Margs we get a lot from Singapore, Chilli, Argentina, France
Here the tourists come from Italy and Switzerland on their motocycles (scary-looking 70 year-old with white beard and black lezther garb, on their Harleys. It's really a hoot!
sounds like fun.
Some English, too
Need to get something to eat - just back from the gym. BBL.
It is, I am tickled when I see a "club" arrive in atching leather jackets and insignia

Rose and Don join us today...do you know if they have any dietary restrictions or anything they hate to eat?
oh how lovely, I haven't heard from them in a few days and was a little worried. Give them my love. Not many restrictions, this is what I know:
And hugs back xx
Hi and hugs
rose not too sharp, not much chili and no aniseed. And no caffeine after 4 pm. Any light soda is fine, they drink sweet wine. Don no apple juice and Rose no juice with pulp in it.
*hugs Liz* Good evening, how was your day?
I know Rose can't do red pepper in any form
Good day thanks. How are you? Must be so exciting, Matty.
yes, sharp food sets off her FM.
Brilliant thanks! Jeff is going to cook tonight so wanted to know x
I am fine :)
matty, they are very 'easy' guests, happy with everything you do for them.
I agree with that.
Brilliant thanks!
I think they might not have had access to internet in Spain. Glad they will be with you tonight, matty. Have a wonderful time! *hugs* to them from me. And have a good day at work too. *hugs* for you too.
From me too :)
We got hit, at work by that nasty computer virus
oh that is horrible :(
Nasty :(
We shall see what work, if any we can do today
I hope you brought a good book ;)
I did!
so I would have done :) Not many things are more irritating than having to spend your day doing nothing.
Talking of books - Deadwood is making me laugh, Sprite. Thanks.
oh yeah! They are good for a smile for sure. Glad you are enjoying them.
Does the series come to a good conclusion?
do you know the books by dick francis?
yes, I believe it does, if I remember correctly
I've read one or two - long time ago. Based around the racing world if I remember right.
yes, there is always some link to the racing word or horses. He is a marvelous writer, I have been rereading his books and found them very enjoyable again.
I don't really remember.
I'll drop you a few.
Thanks.
I really appreciate all the book.
I truly enjoy sharing with you
dropped 4 of my favorites in our dropbox. Hope you will enjoy them.
Thanks again.
you are very welcome :)
Ooooh! Found the 10 :)
wow, good job! Is it a real word?
Not one I've used but yes. Compound.
oh right. They are always tough to spot. Thanks Liz!
Yw. Wasn't sure if I was telling you too much there.
no, not at all, thank you
okay, time for me to go, have a blessed day and a peaceful night, all. *hugs*

I have done poorly in serpentine lately. lost 14 points in my last game
I am.
Not played for about a week or so. I find it hard to get lots of words in such a short space of time.
it is very hard
I just started looking at the chat and saw that Zoom said he had not played in a week or so and almost fell off my chair. I thought he meant Babble.
9 re words left
:-) I much prefer babble to serpentine. Although I do not mind playing it now and again.
same here
I do play weboggle. they do not have an ongoing score. each game is complete
I play microsoft ultimate word games which includes wordament, word bombs, crossword etc
I am playing word jumble as we speak :-)

Congrats, Peri!

Hello, Pen :-)
hi zooz....must be late where you are...
11:35pm
not too bad then.... ;o)
No not too bad. although I am winding down ready for my night time read in bed lol
i hear ya...it's usually when i go to bed...
Are you on the same time as the babble clock in the chat log?
no....i am one hour later...i think the Babble clock is central time...i am eastern time...
Ah I see!
i am in Maine....in the northeast corner of the US...
That is what happens when you live in a large country. Does not matter where you are here in the UK it will still be the same time :-)
yes, must be nice....there is a movement here to have us adopt Atlantic time...that would be an hour later....like some parts of eastern Canada...
Teatime!!!
Enjoy, Ruru!
Too late for me now but I would love to have some toasted tea cakes and a cup of tea!
if i disappear, it's because of a thunderstorm...
toasted tea cakes...sound nice!
Sorry you are having thunderstorm, Pen. We have had heavy rain all day and it is still tipping down now!
i heard thunder a few minutes ago....don't hear anything now...
Okay I think I will turn in for the night now. Happy babbling everyone!
goodnight, zooz...
Man, you guys play a LOT of word games. You must be at the computer all day long.

hi all. would love a clue for the 10. and a clue for one of the 8s. ty
reset
ooops sorry
just got an 8 so just the 10 is what i need. ty. stat and clue please. ty
the 10 is in 10....between phases.... ;o)....it has a common prefix and then another word in the grid...
it's in 10/84...
i am confused. the 10 is in 10? what does that mean? and what does it mean between phases?
is the Y in it?
the first part means between....the last part is like a phase something goes through...
i know the in 5. got that. now for the rest. phase, a phase. hmmm
no, the Y is not in it...it's all one pt. tiles except for one 3 pt. tile...
i have in 8 that is what money makes in a bank account, but not sure it is from that.
no, not from that 8....the two parts are both in the grid as separate words...
in 10/84 = in5 + the world's a ___
the world is a ? joke? globe? circle?
think Shakespeare
Act I and Act II happen on this...
ok got it! ty
what a weird word. ty all.
it's not the weirdest word in this grid...
i am done...
"All the world's a stage" ~ William Shakespeare, As You Like It
YYYAAAASSSS! Molly!
Not sure what a joke? a globe? a circle? even means
hehe
More drama please
Well, if we had more drama then we would have to explain what it means, and then the clues for words would make no sense to those who have no clue and...well..you know
I reached too far back for my reference. My bad...
no, it was fine...
though i did like my clue... ;o)
Your clue helped me get the in10! I literally got it that moment before I posted my clue. Muchos Gracias.

hi nan. I was wondering if your new house is situated safely away from water levels that seem to be rising where you are.
I sure hope so.
FW here.
good for you. I am still hours away from that
yes it is--the old one too. The lake has dropped 4 inches in the last 2 weeks, so I think the worst is over. It is, however, a big lake and even with the dam gates wide open it will be at least another month before it is at normal levels.
my father grew up in Kelowna and I have never heard of it flooding before
I'm so sorry. I had no idea I was doing this. Please accept my apology
areas along mill creek and mission creek have flooded before, but not as bad as this year.
It was a bit "draggy", for me at least.
no worries tessa. We all do it at some point
bugs - what is your father's name? -- I grew up here too
I was from the Gaddes family. My grandfather Williamm Uncle Charles and cousin Bill all were in real estte'
estate there
all gone now. I am in the old generation now
oh for heavens sakes -- I knew them all! -- Charles was of my parents' generation and Bill was a few years ahead of me in school.
*Charlie Gaddes that is...
Billy (as the family called him) was quite a bit older than me but I loved watching him waterski .
Family never called him Charlie. They called him Charl for short. My dad was the youngest twin, another Bill
Didn
Didn't they live on Maple Street?
Yes. I am pretty sure that was the name. My oldest brother remembers it.
we lived just around the corner on Water Street
I just remember that Uncle Charles had a player piano which I loved and lived right on the lake. They had a dock in their back yard
The world just gets smaller and smaller. Did that area get flooded?
I think those who had basements had water there and some in crawl spaces, but most of those houses have 3 to 6 steps up to the main floor.
Oh good. Water can cause so many problems. The biggest one is smell
the problem was with the excess water not having any place to go, the water table rose as well
ye 6 please?
