Hi there, Nanette.
morning all
hi sprite!
224 words in the first hour.....and I'm calling it a day for now...laters, all!!!!
hiya Onpaki!
I'll be back for tomorrow's 100 tomorrow. Good night all.
hi everyone, just find a few words tonight and off to bed early, daughter arrives on early plane tomorrow
Except to those of you for whom it is morning, or afternoon, or evening. To you all: Good day! or possibly good evening!
*hugs flosey* A lovely thing to look forward to. How was your day today?
busy today - spent the last few hours making an old childhood favourite - peanut butter balls - chocolate coated
is it a favorite of your daughter's?
yes
awesome! She'll love them
her childhood, not mine
(and you for making them, of course)
my mom use to make maple fudge - that was our treat
ohhhh I'd totally go for the fudge. Never liked the combination of peanut butter and chocolate.
the pb/chocolate was my kids generation I guess
it is a very popular combination here as well. But not my thing. Fudge, though... yummmm.
I agree
but do have to admit to a very sweet tooth
sweet flosey :)
cooee and g'day {{sprite}} and {{ flosey }} how goes it in the sprite household?
*hugs rose* Not gonna tell ya, don't want you to run off again :P
lolll.... silly woman..... all ears and will stand firm.
:)
Rob and I talked things over yesterday when he came home. We're on the same page again. He still thinks I can hear his thoughts and he will not have to communicate his wishes. It is finally starting to dawn on him that it does not work that way.
Hi all!
*hugs Kam* Hi there! How did the day of testing go?
I'm happy to hear that, Sprite! None of us are mind readers, and we all - including the other halves! - have to remember that.
oh no, roflolll. same in this house, except switch the spouses. i can be very annoying .
The testing did not go as planned, he was more "off" than his off testing, they want to redo.
ugh kam. xoxox for you both. so disappointing.
I have to admit I am halfway to blame, because I usually pick up his signals very easily and try to accommodate him. Seems he has learned to depend on that. But when for some reason I miss signals, it is not alltogether fair to blame me for not being clairvoyant, sigh.
oh Kam, how rotten. That is a bad disappointment. And the whole thing to be done again too, including living up to it. *hugsssss*
It's the nature of the disease...and why he's griping that the meds aren't working. But if the meds have stopped working, maybe the surgery won't work either...this is a LONG HARD road to travel, sigh.
it truly is :( Here's to hoping the meds are still working and he is just having a series of off days.
Or the surgery could make it lots better...it's up to the doctors to decide, and that leaves us feeling helpless.
Wont be babbling tonight (except for a very few minutes) - Daughter arrives by seaplane early tomorrow - perhaps she'll help me finish
it sucks to be powerless to influence the outcome. Is it helpful to you to put the whole complex issue into God's hands and ask Him to sort it out for you?
We screwed up the "off" testing by doing a mini-vacation so we didn't have to spend 90 minutes in the car that morning - he did feel better last week without his meds, and he still isn't quite caught up, that's why they're going to redo next month.
Enjoy the time with your daughter, Flosey! She'll be thrilled with home made "Reesies"
we'll look forward to having the flosey combination playing babble then, flosey :)
not easy to know what is wisdom, Kam, I can certainly understand your reasoning re. mini-vacation.
Sprite, it has always been in Creator's hands, he works in his own ways. Maybe now is not the time.
Yeah, we had a 5 minute drive to the appt..not 90 in traffic
sprite, i am in te5 here. my darling girl, look at how far you have come in your belief. my te5 are of joy, my darling.
I asked because I am learning to do so, Kam... have always been a 'hands on' woman, thinking I have to have the control over everything. Constantly putting back the reins in God's hands is not easy for me, but when I can manage, it gives me such an inner peace.
*hugs rose* Thanks, my dear friend. You should know, you are part of my journey.
I'm happy for you, Sprite! Inner peace is so important.
how is your hubby under the whole disappointment, Kam?
I am starting to think inner peace might be the most important gift in life.
and Rose, how was your day?
He's ok. He just had a really off day, but is better tonight. We had a 10 hour adventure (ordeal, really) today.
But we had a tasty lunch!
quiet. june having trouble with her car so stayed home and sat quietly under the A/C and fan.
*grins* Adventures are ordeals in hindsight. During, they suck, though. Yay for a good lunch! And wooot for you for being able to look at your day and find the raisins in the oatmeal :)
Oh, what I won't give for a warm day! It's cold and rainy here - and I have two lovely cats who spend a lot of time outdoors...they stop near my keyboard on the way to the food bowl - have towels everywhere! And they're all wet, have to dig out more
sounds like the best decision anyway, rose, lol. Not a day to be out and about, with that heatwave going on. Too heavy on the heart, heat.
*takes away some heat from rose and sends it on to Kam*
I know! Wouldn't it be nice?
absolutely. On the other hand, still glad it is not up to us to decide all those things. Would drive me batty :D And imagine the fighting it would cause.
127 and that's all for tonight, may get back at it tomorrow, good night all
sleep well, flosey, and enjoy your daughter's arrival *hugs*
Lolol, Sprite! If humans were in charge of the weather it would be even worse than politics!
sweet dreams sweet flosey xoxox
Sleep well, Flosey!
ty Sprite and Rose and Kam - for sure indeed
oh too true! And imagine, the disaster if the politicians would be the ones having to decide the weather!
::runs and hides::
*hides with Kam*
ahem.... mr trump, they're here ....in the PB
tattling to donald???
Stick him in the PB
*giggle* he's too busy twittering...
::rolls eyes::
*opens cellar of PB, drops Donald, closes double doors and puts a heavy lock on*
:: loud applause ::
how is that for an immediate improvement of the climate, lol
would definitely help the world climate on the political plane, I do believe
politics baffle me, in any form, tbh. Never quite understood how a whole profession earns its money by being habitual liars. But that's me... political nitwit.
Honestly, I don't really understand it either. Seems those who are elected just do what they wish - locally, our county stupidvisors have just done what they want, even with two days of public comment to regulate cannabis, they banned it. In California! Over 200 businesses shut down, 1/3 of the economy - banned. My rep never responded to any contact attempts.
Bankruptcy is around the corner as the lawsuits are filed...smh
so very frustrating :(
Yes - and 22 sheriff deputies will be laid off. Makes no sense to me. Next they'll raise taxes more. I live in Calaveras county, and it has become a national joke this week.
absolutely crazy
Firewords! Have a good day, Sprite and Rose! I'm heading for bed! Stay cool, Rose! *Hugs*
wtg Kam, and sleep well. *hugs*
sweet dreams kam. WTG KAMANJAH!!!
i am done. the good news is all three of my sons are again speaking to each other. * sigh * it is always Dan who causes the ruckus. when, oh when, will he grow up for goodness sake. he is 43 this year.
WTG Rose!!!!!!!!!!
well, that is an improvement, them talking amongst themselves. But yeah, about time Dan starts growing up.
my guess it is all that testosterone running around.
guys... sigh
fortunately simon and josh won't take any BS from him. that sort of pins Dan's ea4 back and makes him settle down. he once tried to pin a disagreement on me. josh was utterly perplexed. he said... but mum, i haven't spoken to you.
good for josh
yeah, i know. simon and josh haven't stopped tr5ing me like mum. ready to take a joke, also ready to say, hang on a tick...
that's all good.
yup, i know. i wish the same for you and your kids. but then again, you are one amazing mum.
I try to be, though God knows Rob and I did make mistakes along the way too.
of course you did, but so long as you can openly admit it to your kids, then all is good. your kids realise mum and dad are only human.
yeah, I am glad to say they are realistic that way.
and so are you and Rb, right?
I think so
i am realistic in acknowledging that my kids are flawed, like all of us. the trouble is getting one of them to admit it... loll
lol
fireflies
bbl. need to make up the bed with fresh linen.
take it easy, darling. Sleep well and have a grand day tomorrow. *hugs*
WTG SPRITE !!! xoxox to you both, and one extra one, specially for you. *grin*
I'm new and wondering where the word list is, and also joining in the conversation to say that I have two daughters and one son and none of them are speaking to each other.
Hello Princess
Hello. My name is actually Allie. I live in Canada. I used to use Playbabble a long time ago, but I forgot the name of it, and suddenly remembered a couple of days ago!
l don't use the word list just bumble along, making as many words as l can
l'm a 2-year widow, American but living in France for almost 20 years
Hi, Rubyfoo, I
Hi, Rubyfoo, I'm sorry about your loss. I have been to France, it is beautiful, what part do you live in?
The chat is friendly, but is too often dominated by players who over-share
l live near to Annecy in the foothills of the Alps
That sounds glorious! I've never seen the Alps. Some day.
lt's very beautiful and the house is on a hillside with a sp)lendid view of Lake Annecy, even sitting here on my Babble throne (speaking of princesses!)
I am no princess - my princessofburundi tag that I use everywhere is from an Icelandic crime novel of the same name. I am a huge fan of Scandinavian crime fiction.
Good morning to all babblers!
l like the tag, but it's only my dogs who are royal
Hi all. I've been trying to change my icon 'cos for some reason it's ended up enormous, but every time I do, my computer crashes. Any solutions, anybody?
I don't know how to fix that, hydra.
princessofburund, have you read Wolf Winter by Swedish author Ceclia Ekback? She has another one out now, too.
Henning Menkell books are on my TBR list.
My husband and l read alll of Henning Mankiel's books!
l don't read so much now because l fall asleep.
And hello
And there is an Italian series with an inspector. Maldonadi, I think.
l've stopped uying books, finally, but every time l have a visitor, l send her away with as many as she'll take
Good plan, ruby.
lf postage cost less, l'd send books to e erybody
Do you read ebooks, ruby?
bars
whoops
no, l haven't tried that. Are e-books harrd on your eyes?
You can enlarge the print size, and the latest Kindles have a blue-light option so you can read in bed without disturbing your sleep pattern.
A Kindle is great for travelling. I take mine on train journeys.
l don't have a Kindle. Is that what l need for e-books?
Yes, a Kindle or another e-reader. And most old classics are free.
You can read them on your computer, too. If you buy from Amazon, you can choose which mode to download it in.
lt's all i can do to get through the New York Times, the New Yorker and yet AANOTHER season of the Good Wife!
My latest book is just out. It's called The Earl's Captive and is set in 1820.
l just read your profile, Hydra. Very interesting!
l am no longer productive, but used to be.
You are the author, Hydra?
ls your book available on Amazon?
Maybe if all Babblers buy it and write great reviews, it will become a bestseller
Good morning, all.
Morning, judi
Love my ebooks
Word of advice to all human beings: Don't ever be a landlord.
Poor guy just came into police station. Said he evicted his tennants in December. They are still there, tearing up the house, breaking windows, etc.
Haven't paid a dime of rent.
Referred him to County police (property in their jurisdiction) for the property damage. Some people are just scum.
I think tenants have 60 days after eviction notice to vacate.
It's 30 days here. We also have something called Section 8 housing - subsidized rent from State government. This landlord says this family is on Section 8. However, that does not excuse them from not paying rent and tearing up his property.
A friend of mine recently moved from NY to AZ - so her autistic son could attend a special school in AZ. They have to rent their house in NY until they sell it. Have had nothing but deadbeat tenants since day one.
Last tenants stole the appliances when they vacated in the middle of the night.
122 left after the first pass.
And, I'm sorry I killed the chat.
hello friends. what a bummer judi!
Hi, Trif.
Tell any future applicants they will have to pay for a credit check in advance..
gramma, your avatar is so intriguing to me -- my old initals were EACE :)
Credit checks are all well and good. But, after renters pay up-front rent and securities (usually in cash), it seems they think they have paid enough. And landlords rarely, if ever, report deadbeats to credit reporting agencies.
90 left here. Time for a break. *POOF*
Property management is the only way to go for out of town landlords. They do charge a fee but well worth it.
I mean, this is a very small subset of renters
that causes problems

Have a good evening
Liz I'm going to be in Sydney & Melbourne in March for work - super excited
wow, dan
Oh wow! Shame you won't be in Queensland. That's fantastic - you'll have a ball. Will you have time to explore?
1st as6,24?
And you'll get some warm weather too!
Fireworks.
I will have a weekend in each city
yay!
You must do a walk around the Rocks area in Sydney - it's really interesting. All about how it was first settled by convicts. Susannah Place museum is really interesting too - also about first settlers there. If you want a bit of peace and quiet in Sydney, the Chinese Gardens, right near Darling Harbour are wonderful.
And of course, you can always do the Bridge climb!
thanks!
I have actually done the Bridge, and the ferry out to Manly Beach. This is my 3rd time down under
I know stuff in Melbourne too - the Old Melbourne Gaol is well worth a visit but I know there are Melbourne players here, who probably have good advice.
Have you been to Taronga Zoo?
I've been to Adelaide, and to Bond University in Gold Coast
never been to Melbourne before
I live not too far from there.
Never been to Adelaide though. I'm 5 years an Aussie citizen today :)
neat! one of the funny things to us in the states is that Aussies go North to retire!
Or come south in my case. From London originally.
congrats!
aha
fw
It's true though. Lots of retirees here. And in the winter lots of "southerners" come here because it's warmer.
Congrats, mixi
yay mixi
If you like markets, the Sunday market in St Kilda is fun. It's on the esplanade.
That's in Melbourne, in case you weren't sure.
* takes notes :-)
Are you coming with family or other work people?
solo, but connecting with our in-country office. Attending a conference in Syd and then visiting the office in Melb
I'll look forward to hearing all about what you do! If I can suggest anything for you to see in Sydney or Melbourne, I'd be happy to. Though like I said, I'm sure Rose or Lynxx or others know more about Melbourne than I do.
miss2bit's spring break is not until late March, so it was sort of hard to justify the $$$$
someday though
That's a shame. I'm sure she's old enough now to love it. Seeing koalas etc. Mind you, I think you can only cuddle them in Queensland!
Lizlin, drop me a note - my gmail is the same as my babble handle
OK - will do - I'll put Lizlin in the title.
yes we will be back!
I'll do that now just to make contact. Can you confirm that you get it? Then I really need to get on with the day.
sure can
got it - enjoy your day!
You too.
Or rather evening!
