Hiya, Sprite! How are you today?
*hugs Kam* I am okay, thank you. How are you and your beloved? Resting up a little after the grueling hospital day?
that would be it, jess
Yep, he says he feels great today, now that all of the "testing" is behind him. I found some of the tests he said made him "feel stupid" onine last night - they were basically a guessing game. He did just fine!
that is wonderful. And how about yourself, honey?
online, that is...
too tired to find that ca -- good night everyone
night nan
I'm still tired. I did all the driving yesterday, plus all of dinner. I'm so spoiled to him doing part of the cooking! Which he did tonight. I'll be good tomorrow!
Night, nan, sleep well!
found it! :-)
*hugs Kam* You are a hero, you know. And a very good sign that he felt up to cooking already again today!
picked up a few but too tired tonight, will et back at it tomorrow, good night all
He bounces back quickly! Yay him! I think fibro bites longer, but not as hard as PD does. At least there are drugs that are effective part of the time for PD, have found nothing that works for fibro except magnesium.
*hugs flosey* Good evening, dear lady, and good night. Sleep well :)
Night Flosey, sweet dreams!
Kam, you might want to ask rose about that. She is a long time FM sufferer and has found some solutions.
Medicine in her country is far ahead of the US. Most first world countries are ahead - our FDA is too tied into Big Pharma to be good for regular people
yeah I know. But there might be some options that are open to you too. I know she just found a new regime that seems to work wonders. Worth checking out!
I was diagnosed back in 89, am using what is available that works, nothing specific to FM that is ok'd by FDA - the federal dumb a** agency
I do ok, it just is taking longer to bounce back as I get older
make sure rose tells you what she is taking right now, Kam. And ask your GP. There might be options that will ease your life... worth checking out, I think :)
ok, I'll ask her. My GP is really liberal with alternatives, but no infusions happen in this country. My chiropractor is the one who helps most.
ok, I'll ask her. My GP is really liberal with alternatives, but no infusions happen in this country. My chiropractor is the one who helps most.
yeah, that is why it occurred to me to tell you. Rose has found meds that might render the infusions unneeded.
My browser is acting up, need to restart. I don't think I have her email, will check.
okay :) if you do not have it, I do and I know she is okay with me giving it to you.
or, I could email her and give her your addy, whichever you prefer
OK, back, it just fell right out of memory! I think I have her email at gmail - name.xxx# ? Sound right? I didn't put a name on that address in my list.
yes, that is the one!
yay! I'll ask.
it would be awesome if you could benefit from her experience *fingers crossed*
Always open to new info!
amen, sistah! Me too. Babble is such a knowledge base, so many different disciplines represented and so many smart people.
So true! I love the people I've met here. Such a cross section of the world, which no one finds in their own town.
lol, I think my husband has actually managed to pick the coldest weekend for us to go camping and canoeing. Not only is it freezing quite stiffly, we also have snow now. I am starting to second-guess the wisdom of going.
I say postpone for safety! DH had me postpone my chiro appt for Thurs due to prediction of lots of snow...and a 55 mile drive each way. I'm going next week instead.
I agree. And most players are by definition smart people. Also, by far most babblers are nice people. The friendly chog and the helpfulness here are not found in many other internet places
I've been snowed in at re-enactment events, it's too cold and wet to camp unless you have an RV with a good heater! Canoeing in ice won't work too well if the water freezes...
I will leave it up to him. He is in the midst of a burnout atm. If he wants to go, I'll go with him and we will brave the elements together. But right now, I kinda hope he will want to postpone.
You're brave! I'm glad to see you supporting him and his needs tho
it is a river, flowing rather strongly, so I think it won't be frozen yet. But freezing, ugh. We do not have an RV, just a tent. A tipi, though, and a possibility for a heater inside, so we'll probably be able to heat the tent pretty well. Ah well, we'll see. I gladly be cold for a few days if it means he can do something he truly enjoys.
always have, always will. It is part of our bond, I think, to always support eachother's dreams and goals.
A tipi is better than a tent by far, and a river won't hang you in ice as much as our lakes...but I assume it's a safe place as far as rocks and not bottoming out?
Yes, the bond is special. We were talking about our 'bucket list' places today.
yes, it is safe that way, although the reason we were going in the first place was the series of rapids there. Not too bad, but with rapids there is always a chance of tipping over. I'd truly hate to be immersed in freezing water, lol
oh wow. Have you decided on the next one to visit?
I'm such a weather wimp! I hate wet and cold. No, undecided at the moment, but looking seriously at Alaska. I have to get a passport though, if we have to go thru Canada. I never needed one before because I never had the chance to leave the country...and his just expired. He's already been to several of my bucket list spots - Jerusalem and the pyramids.
Well, if you go, be safe and don't tip over!
time to both get your passports then :)
cooee .... that's me {{sprite}} {{kam}} ugs
I got the forms last week!
Alaska is cold, but not wet. I have heard it is incredibly beautiful.
yay Kam!
{{rose}}
*hugs rose* Hello my dear friend :) How was your day and how are you doing?
He wants to see bears. I want to catch salmon. We'll go in summer when the days are looong
then better watch out for bears catching salmon
hahaha
after lenten studies we did a little supermarket shopping, then home to fall in our chairs in front of the A/C
wise move, honey. Best place to be for the both of you atm.
and i only realised today, saturday we have the church stall at the local supermarket, and i haven't had time to organise anyone else to sell the raffle tickets. *sigh* so it is himself and moi on the tables yet again. grrr
aw rose, you still have a couple of days. Call some people and shame them into doing something for a change. You need to watch yourself, can't be overdoing things in that heat with that heart of yours, sweetie. Please.
i will be inside with the A/C. and i just feel the FM fog building.
btw, Kam. did i see a reference to my current treatment for FM?
..... mumble mumble headstrong woman....
yes,rose
well i have sourced magnesium malate 1250mg, 5-HTP 50mg and melatonin 3mg/5X. all from america. i take one of each, every night.
Mag malate is my #1 - 425g mag and 2.5g malic acid. The other two don't work with my system, tried them with adverse results.
ahhhh, that's so not good.
Plus a load of other supplements
I'll email you
try upping the dosage of magnesium. and go lalalala when your gp says your magnesium levels are too high. um, hello. they need to be high to control FM. besides you pee most of it out almost at once.
I take mag glycinate too...doc knows and encourages it, plus 10000 IU D3
what happened with the 5-HTP and melatonin?
I do ok, I just get tired after 10 hours days of doc appts that are 1 1/2 hr drives each way. DH used to drive, but now I've taken over freeway routes.
got super hyper and couldn't sleep
I get hyper from melotonine as well
hmmmm, when /what time of day did you take them?
hour before bed
Then tried htp in AM and got sleepy. I'm upside down.
fireflies. A big *hug* for you both, dear girls. Sleep well, and rest up, and keep on taking good care of yourselves.
Hugs, Sprite!!
WTG SPRITE !!!
xoxox honey. hope your day is kind to you.
there is no mention of hyper on all the melatonin sites. with FM your body does not produce endorphins, melatonin or seratonin.
well, for what it's worth, i take all three at night and i have started sleeping again. maybe it's the act of taking all three at the same time ?? it's possible.
Actually, am working with doc to see if it's something besides FM - I have no fog. It's not responsive to any antidepressants - they make me depressed. I finally got off of them and am SO much better!
the other thing i was taking, which these three replace, was a herbal treatment called Anatrin. and yes, those three ingredients are in it, but there are three other ingredients which may offset the 'side effects' of the three.
well FM is the other side of the coin to chronic fatigue and or PTSSD
I was diag with all three, so I don't really think FM is right, it's CFS that knocks me
hmmmm, have you and your doc considered ketamine infusions?
not even a consideration in the US
really ?? how come??
Anyone with chronic pain is a victim of the FDA and their war on drugs
doctors are afraid of losing their licenses
that's so sad honey. over here they have just made i law, if you want analgesia containing codeine you must have a doc's prescription.
but the usage of ketamine has been approved for use with some psychiatric patients, and chronic pain patients.
we have to jump thru hoops to get a month's worth of any opiate
and if it's acute pain, they only allow 5-7 days worth of mes
meds
it's such a pity that the few bad apples spoil the benefits for the rest of the barrel.
the gov't doesn't care about people with legitimate pain. All are labeled addicts and it is so unfair! Just last week, a 70 year old man had his meds cut off, and he was crying for help...no doctor would take him on. It's terrible here.
going to prepare meds for the next 24 ours. keep that gorgeous chin up, Kam. you will come out on top soon, i am sure of it. hugs for you both.
But that's a rant for another day...it's not going to change under the current conditions.
ahem *hours* evn... loll
OK, you have a great day...or night...don't know what time it is 'down under.'
nearly 7:30pm. and i am yawning like anything already.
xoxox
Then, get a good night's sleep when it's time for bed!

hadn't heard that
When I see the ro4, I always think Sound of Music.
I think of the aussie because he was a resident performer at the Arctic Club in Vancouver when I was at uni.
off to hit the shower (no - it's not kitted out like the one in my icon!)
I think everyone should have a shower like the one in your icon. The world would be a much nicer place.
ty nan
love that icon nan
Why don't I see your icon unless I click on it?
You need to hit CONTROL + F5. Unless you are on a Mac, in which case I cannot advise you.
Maybe CMD + R. Whatever a hard refresh is on a Mac.
I don't have a f5 key, nor a command key. Not using a Mac
F5 is typically above the 5, and CONTROL is typically labeled CTRL and is down in the bottom left and bottom right of the keyboard
You can also probably do hold down CTRL and hit the refresh icon on whatever browser you're using
Definitely don't have any of that. Have a Lenovo
If you use Google Chrome, you'll see an icon up in the top left, that looks like a 3/4 circle with an arrow head on one end
But, it's ok
If you have a Lenovo, running Windows, then you will have it, though our descriptions might not be very good
Here's the lenovo keyboard: https://tinyurl.com/yc7gba5q On that Picture, the CTRL key is just to the right of the red key in the bottom right
I looked at Mr. Bich's keyboard [a Dell] and it has it. Not I
Ah, the F5 probably is written in red on the top row
At any rate, you don't need F5, if you know how to click on your browser refresh icon...you can then just hold CTRL and click on the refresh icon
my eyesight is going. It's very small
yeah...
Yes, that worked, ty
They try to cram a lot in on those (I assume) laptop keyboards
I have a Lenovo at work. Your computer brand has nothing to do with how you refresh. It's your operating system.
We're talking about how the keys are labeled, they tend to vary by manufacturer
I know and I'm looking at photos of Lenovo laptop keyboards and they all have CTRL and F5
We have established that I believe :)
It's really tiny. Not great for my eyes
The labeling on Bichon's keyboard was small for the function keys, which was the challenge
Anyway...Bich...can you see Nan's icon now?
Yup, ty for your input
Most of the time, computer stuff like that is easier to figure out if someone shows you.
i had to reload my page in order to see cyber's new icon
Making up big batches of kumquat marmalade. My tree has enough ripe kumquats to feed a small nation.
origami do you do canning?
I used to, years ago.
I make freezer jams. Don't can.
origami i hope you have a lot of bread:)
*Imagines Origami's friends at Christmas. "Oh, just what I wanted!! A jar of kumquat marmalade!!" : D

They are calling for 9 inches of snow in Ireland. I bet the pubs are doing big business.
ty Mary
I generally drink my coffee black, but I'm not averse to a shot of something alcoholic in it.
I drink my coffee by putting in a glass of hot milk
Oh yeah Bich, I remember you saying you liked coffee flavored milk. : D
I can't do spirits in coffee. Still remember the morning 40+ years ago after a binge of Irish coffees. I have never been sicker.
We're both tea drinkers in a world of coffee. I like coffee ice cream. I just find black too bitter
fl 6/27, pls
i love amaretto when i drink regular coffee

hello friends...wow, my ex is all over this grid today, lol
Evening all. It's snowy here, which is a nightmare as London has no clue how to deal with it - no-one shovels or even sweeps (cuz let's face it, it's not that much snow) it here, so it's like an ice rink
May I have stats, please, for the E in the first column, third row?
to wear away, as in earth
oh darn it! SORRY! you asked for stats! er5
hi Matty everyone seems to have snow - except us down on East corner!
Thanks! (Though stats would have done, but thanks for the clue)
It's pretty to look at, a nightmare to get around in. I'm near Windsor and work in London
Can you use public transport and leave the car at home?
I do - always! I took the car to the station (lazy as it's only a mile away, but the walk would have been cold and icy)
The trains are...troubled, though, in any semi poor weather. Understand when I say snow (and they're calling this storm 'the Beast from the East!), we're talking at most, in London, 2 inches and probably not even that
London just doesn't know how to handle it
Kinda like Portland (where I lived for 2 years in my early 20s)
The snow is so beautiful... until the next day when it's turned sooty and dirty and slushy. Understand -- I've lived in places where snow is a rarity, and everything stops with 1/2 inch! Yes, Portland!
hi again
Hi sue
recently heard someone say Britain could stop an alien invasion - just have a light covering of snow!
Hallo Sue
lol deeha! BBL - lunch time.
Actually, Deeha, I think that would make it easier for them as no-one would be able to mobilise!
true - we'ed all be huddled round heaters saying'can't go out in this. Having a duvet day'!!
Exactly that! And the trains would shut down and probably even there'd be the wrong kind of snow for the tanks
i cant see and more c's. I am c blind. I cant believe i found 25 of them
definitely wrong sort of snow for tanks!!
It's amazing, walking around London (rather, walking from Waterloo to my office) the inappropriate footwear you see on people.
it sounds like here in concord NC when it snows
bet there are still girls in minis and crop tops!
Not quite, gotta say!
everyone runs to the store for bread, milk and eggs and then stays put
All the Canadians and northern US people, when they get here, will be laughing hysterically about the panic over maaayybe 2 inches of snow
yep
Apparently, according to the NY Times, during the last severe winter storm late last year in New York, there was a run on bread, milk and kale. Go figure
71 left, going to the list. I need two more f's
is there really an al6?
I haven't found it
nm
i found it
do you want a clue?
I'd love one!
al+sleep thig + vowel
Thanking you!
wow sue did you know that word or just find it? never heard of that. Thanks
I do know the word but was grateful for the clue as I'd not seen it in the grid
just found it
like your photo Matty I'd recognise you anywhere!!
It captures the real me!
wish I was than thin!!
I had no idea it was so big. When I can be bothered, I'll resize it and repost. Can't be bothered now
Your grandkids (I assume) are lovely!
hi all. help with either fo8 pls

it is a compound word?
It's when it's possible to have an fo4
ty matty
and deeha
No worries!
I am not getting the fo8
Which one?
rehi all...back for my final 27
Hi Mool
hey mg...how's your day going?
i have the fo8/60
I have the fo8/70 if you want a clue
Nearly done (well, it's 8pm but still). Utterly knackered as we've had snow (yes, in London 2 inches of snow shuts everything down) and I have bronchitis. So yeah, kinda tired. Otherwise ok! How's your day going?

heh, we had 2 inches on Friday...which was preceded by almost 5 Monday last week
take the fo4 (a thing you fill in) and add a suffix meaning possible (also a four letter word in the grid)
Mine, not too bad so far
Well, you're in Colorado - that's small beans for you!
Sue...able to be molded or have it's shape changed
got it, ty
actually we typically only get 0-3 inches at a time, but yes...we're not unaccustomed to snow
yw sue
Mool - into the PB for you!
You want to stick me in peanut butter?!?!? ;)
Penalty box - you've been in the US too long - you used a word in the grid, you naughty boy ;)
Well being an ice hockey fan, I'm well acquainted with penalty boxes :)
this puzzle is making me lo4

I very much doubt I shall stay awake long enough to finish today's grid

hi all, i got a merge cube, trust me its not all its cracked up to be
well i havent got a vr headset, so idk about that part
*the babbleverse silently wonders what MNIH is talking about*
lol, first dont call me that, and two its a called a merge cube, ive seen them in walmart, and some other stores
it's just that we skew old in this group, so like, i, for example, had never heard of a merge cube :)
it says on the box, "holograms in the palm of your hand" well on the mobile option, its on your phone!
and its not a hologram
wait, wait, are you saying a product being sold at walmart is disappointingly low in quality? how can this be?!
exactly what i was thinking, hurshy.
which, the "we're old" or the "walmart" ? :)
idk hurshy, how it can be
hmm i found this other app imma try it
sorry, bad grammar, I'm gonna try it
gonna is great grammar as well
you're right, it should be gunna
i took a pic of the merge cube and as my profile picture, but it hasnt changed yet

lol *doubles over laughing*
you guys crack me up
hint for al6, pls?
nm
night all
bye Hannah
dang, but i cannot find an AL6 either
al & cot & vwl
ty
why do i feel like scroot is a word? did dickens or somebody name a character that or something?
that would be scrooge
or Donald Ducks uncle too wasn't it?
ok i looked it up and apparently it HAS been used as a word, either meaning like a smelly mangy dog, or like a car that is in parallel condition
but the quotes that wiktionary cited where the word was used... none of them were from anything that i've read
so how it got into my head remains a mystery
is it just me or is this grid hard?
its do6.27, some nice words here - just not common
woohoo, thanks for that one
see - nice!
so the 8 i found is re8, got any others?
Two fo8s, hursh
Both
both are compound words....
ok got one
8/60 & 8/70
Bald
Oops
mase
oops here too but at least mine was wrong, lol
ok now let me see here
it's the 70 pointer, so 14 before you multiply
It can be fo4/8ed
ahhh thanks
Yw
