He talked with them, they prescribed something his insurance denied, so we have to call tomorrow. We have another similar med - it is actually the mirror image of the new one they liked...it's older, and has been around longer, and it's what he asked for in the first place.
I hope they say try it since we have a full bottle!

Yes, these doctors want to prescribe all the fancy EXPENSIVE stuff! Insane. Maddening, especially when you look up how much money Big Pharma$$ paid them over the past years...grrrr
here they did a good thing about that. In stead of all the brand names, most drugs now have a generic one with the active ingredient as a name, far less expensive and the only one that is covered by insurance.
of course, that is not possible in the first few years of a new med, because then they are covered by some rule... about the investments they must make to invent the medication, so they are allowed to get their money back.
this was a generic that was denied. The pharmacy said his secondary coverage denied too, but I don't even think they checked. Tomorrow is a new day for more phone calls.
It has a longer half life, so lasts longer. We didn't find out about the denial until after hours, so have to wait.
and so on and so forth. Better not add up all the time and energy that goes into the phonecall dance.
sigh - and he gets stressy on those types of calls, and the people on the other end have to get specific permission to talk to me, which makes it harder. Oh well. Not looking forward to it, but it has to be done. He is actually doing pretty well overall - and realized he has cut his main PD med more than he thought he had, so that made him smile.
ah good. And so nice he can smile again with his face showing it :)
