12:36 am

i a, and proud of it!!! (d 8 that is)

12:37 am

oops, i am

12:40 am

Not as cool, but another 8 for 50.

12:47 am

63 for 672, with two 7's, one for 40 and the other for 32. 'Nites.

12:48 am

Another 7 for 44.

12:50 am

3 7s for 44,48,44 all forms of the same word

1:14 am

Is the 8/65 a compount word?

onyx: there's another seven and an eight tucked in there too.

1:15 am

a superlative of a d 4

1:19 am

what does the 8 for 50 start with? there is another s 8 for 55

1:19 am

It's another d8

1:34 am

got it thanks

1:38 am

i'm off to bed. 105 words, which probably means there's 350 total. :-\

1:55 am

Hahahaha! I couldn't go to bed, came back to the computer, and found the d8/55. Appropriate indeed!

It accepted Degas yesterday? I didn't even care to try, cause I thought that it was just a name... What do we learn from this? Always try everything! Sini

6:21 am

d8/65!. Now off to work.

8:34 am

I had to smile at the d8 for 65. Great word. :)

8:57 am

is that a clue

9:47 am

Sorry, it's not a clue. There are two clues at the beginning of the chat and onyx has a clue at 1:15.

9:49 am

Can anyone help me find the last V? I have 5 ViX4 4 ViX5 2 VoX4 1 Vox5 1 VoX6 1 VoX7

10:01 am

Vi6 ... To examine and indorse, as a passport; to visa.

A&S - I was curious abut the DEGAS thing too, so I checked the definitioon - think de-gas, as in to remove gas from something!

10:04 am

Thank you shortseer!

10:23 am

inaniloquent, i used the degas clue cause i figured that was the quickest way to get to the point.....

10:38 am

i keep seeing 'shrieked' ;-P

10:40 am

The 8's A8 ... those that are counselled D8 ... abandoned D8 ... most nerdy H8 ... doctrines at variance with established religious beliefs S8 ... most thin/transparent (of material) another 8 ... ?

10:42 am

*grump* No way are there 9 As. I only have 3 and have tried every freaking combination. I hate words that start with vowels.

10:44 am

Daisy, I agreed with you until I read shortseers clues: once you get the 8-letter word, there are 5 words that connect with it!! Thanks, shortseer! Your clues were fabulous! Can't help you with what's missing, though. I'll keep looking.

10:44 am

6 of the As come from the same A6/30.

10:45 am

i .. errr ... counsel you to work on the A8 ... that'll give you 6 of the A's

10:49 am

Doh! Got 'em. thanks again. It's so weird when you can't see an obvious word series and then it jumps out at you.

10:49 am

so now I'm one A short. Got the 6 related, and then two other related words...is the final one related to the pair, or is it independent?

10:53 am

shortseer -- thanks for the clues! I was missing 3 of the As b/c I was focused on the bottom of the grid -- hard to find new words when you keep looking in the same pattern. lol! ;-)

10:55 am

i rarely chat, but i have to thank everyone for the clues! you rawk! \m/

11:01 am

A6 ... a verb tense in some languages (classical Greek and Sanskrit) expressing action (especially past action) without indicating its completion or continuation [ ... this word has come up before ... always makes me think of the main artery leaving the heart ....] -------------------------------- The S's : 1x sa4 6x se4 5x se5 3x se6 4x sh4 4x sh5 2x sh6 2x sh7 1x sh8 2x si4 1x si5 1x SL5 ============ 32 out of 38 ============ can anyone help with the missing S's ?

11:02 am

Berekah, I only got the final A by chance. It's not related to the other two. It's an Ao6.

11:04 am

This is a hard one, isn't it? Or am I having a very bad day? Haven't even 100 words yet and already I have problems finding new ones!

11:04 am

thanks, daisy and shortseer. Got it :-)

11:05 am

you're not alone, sprite, I think this one's hard too. Occasionally I'll find a word that will help trigger a bunch of words, but then there's a long time before I find another!

11:07 am

Thanks Berekah, that makes me feel a little better. The clues are great, by the way!

11:25 am

shortseer -- I have 2x SH8

11:26 am

fixit, you found the final 8! (any hints? ;-)

11:28 am

'Rock the Casbah' was always one of my favorite songs.

11:29 am

plural of S7; Arab prince

11:30 am

thanks fixitfmly heh .. all i needed to do was add an s to a SH7 i already had! SH7/SH8 member(s) of an Arab princely family

11:33 am

so far I have 12 of the 7s . . . any hints on others?? 4xA, 5xD, 1xR, 2xS

11:40 am

These are my 7's. Guess I have to go D-hunting! A48 A44 A44 A44 D44 D32 H44 H44 K44 R32 R32 S44 S52 V44

11:42 am

fnurt-- my D7s are: 44, 48, 44, 32, 48

11:50 am

There is also a 7/R/40 that I don't think has been mentioned.

12:09 pm

The 7's : 4xA7 ... related to counsel D7 ... those who rush 2x D7 ... to do with removing the powdery residue when something is burned? D7 ... abandons D7 ... nerdier H7 ... held up/robbed H7 ... heirs K7 ... falcon O7 ... measurement of magnetic intensity 2x R7 ... related to removing moisture again R7 ... to do with plant germination method SH7 ... swerved from course SH7 ... arab prince V7 ... nullifiers ======== 19 out of 20 ======= jlm_mi's 7/R/40 <--- the 20th one

12:14 pm

The R/7/40 is to fix a shoe and it comes after the moisture removal ones but before the germination. I was trying to think waaaay to technically when searching for the germination one, and I even had the related 6. Then it hit me smack across the face. :-D

12:19 pm

well it it was awfully had to come up with a clue without using the actual word ;)

12:22 pm

It was a good clue. I just like to make things too complicated. :) I can help with one of your missing S words. I have SH5x5.

12:24 pm

I also have SE5x6.

12:27 pm

Make that SE5x7.

12:54 pm

Oh yes, that magnetic thing - that was in another grid not long ago! So I did learn something!

12:58 pm

The R's: 8x re4 5x re5 7x re6 4x re7 1x rh4 1x rh5 5x ri4 5x ri5 1x ri6 4x ro4 ============ 41 out of 45 ============ can anyone help with the missing R's?

1:03 pm

Sorry, only got 116 words so far, so I'm not even near the position to help out... :(

1:07 pm

well if you can't help me, i hope my list can help you ;)

1:08 pm

It certainly does! Wouldn't come far with this grid without all those beautiful lists and clues - thank you all. :-D

1:13 pm

Unfortunately, I have the same R distribution as you do. But, I'm curious about my very first RE6 word. If it's the same as yours, maybe you can help me make sense of it. I'm assuming it's a verb, of the I re-xxxx form. Why couldn't you add an S to the end to get He re-xxxxs? Aaah - The mysteries of babble. I can help with A, i, K, L, T and V words, and am close on some of the others if you want to compare.

1:14 pm

I'm also working on R's--So far my only difference is Re4x9, but I'll keep you posted =)

I feel like I'm the only person who is spelling the Arab prince with 6 letters instead of 7. What's the point value for the S&?

I mean five letters. On a good day I can count *and* spell!

1:21 pm

I did that for a while too...finally googled the definition and got the alternative spelling. It's pronounced the same way, just spelled slightly differently.

1:23 pm

7/52, 8/70 never mind my other post, it's for the 6-letter variation (yeah, there is one)

1:24 pm

Actually, there is a 5-letter Arab leader (for 24 points) that is totally a different word from the one used to make the 7 and 8. The 7 and 8 are for 52 and 70 points, respectively. fnurt's 11:28 clue may point you in the right direction, with a word that sounds similar to this prince. :)

1:25 pm

berekah - There's a 6-letter variation? Of the 7/8 arab prince combo? How many points does it have?

ah hA! it was the wrong prince. thanks ;)

1:25 pm

Yeah, I really wish we could edit. Ignore my posts completely :-) I just found a 10th Re4.

1:27 pm

sorry, inaniloquent and jlm. I was TOTALLY wrong. From beginning to end. But I did find a 10th re4. That one I'm confident on:-)

1:29 pm

That's definitely a help! :-D It leaves only 2 R words unaccounted for.

1:30 pm

At 01:13 pm jlm_mi said... "But, I'm curious about my very first RE6 word. If it's the same as yours ..." Hmmm. My first RE6 is currently the shoe repair one.

1:30 pm

Ive just looked through my list, and its allowed me a word that isnt actually in the puzzle?

1:32 pm

My first re6 is to *give nutrition to again...*

1:34 pm

granadan, not even if you go down and left first, and then up again? Some words can go two ways. ;-)

1:34 pm

mine too now ;)

1:34 pm

granadan - That's my first RE6 as well. I thought it would take it with an S on the end, but it won't. I'd bet the word that "isn't in the puzzle" is just one that is hard to see. It took one I swore it wouldn't, but eventually I saw that it really was there. If you want to give a clue to the word I bet someone can help you see it. :)

1:34 pm

Okay, this one's for jlm_mi: I'm up to 8xRe6. My first one can't be given the other tense, since it doesn't end next to an S. My second is your shoe repair R6, and my third is clearly not a verb. Does that mean I'm missing one, and there are actually 9?

1:37 pm

oops, you talked about that already...stupid refresh button...

1:38 pm

parsec - You're right, I'm blind! :-D The first one can't have an S added to it because it's not in the puzzle. But, here are my RE6 words. I have 7.: give nutrition to again fix a shoe a form of germination that was referred to earlier for the 7s views again letter of the hebrew alphabet (plural) to cover a house again took a nap

1:40 pm

Oh, and "to cover a house again" is not a very good definition for that word. I want to mis-pronounce it every time I see it in these puzzles. It would more accurately be "to live in a place".

1:44 pm

R6 plant genus

1:46 pm

the eighth is between the shoe and the germination: it is not an again word. It's a color (my mom is redecorating, which is how I got it) and also apparently a plant word.

1:46 pm

There are at least 6 RE5's. I don't know how to describe the 6th one, but imagine the Sex Pistols trying to replace their lead singer.

1:53 pm

thanks jlm - just made a cuppa and saw it when i got back!

1:58 pm

FYI, if it's the word I'm thinking of, it means the oil left after petroleum has been distilled. Is that the Sex Pistols one, fnurt?

1:58 pm

I just cannot find that shoefix-word! Is it common or not?

2:00 pm

thinks of shoe parts ... something that might need repair if it was down at the ....

2:00 pm

Its a common phrase - bet you already have the root H4

2:01 pm

It's something you'd have to take your shoe to a cobbler to have done, and it's much more likely to be done on a woman's shoe than on a man's.

2:01 pm

Thank you both! How can I be so blind?

2:02 pm

Eh... thank you, all three! *lol* There are always more messages after I post one than I expect...

2:07 pm

Back to the sex pistols i'm stumped. I have a ... err .. recurring Mr Vicious 1st name word (RE5). No 6-letter word that i can see.

2:07 pm

shortseer - the sex pistols clue was for a 5-letter word.

2:11 pm

That last Ro4 is driving me nuts. I have a verb, a plural, then a noun. help?

2:11 pm

oh! *goes back to practising how to count* lol

2:11 pm

There's a noun that is a homonym with the first word on your list, I think.

2:12 pm

Sorry, that should be homoPHONE. :-D

2:12 pm

wait, nevermind, I never put in the other noun i found...You should probably ignore everything I post today, too =)

2:14 pm

I have RE/4X10

2:21 pm

i found a simple RE4/RE5 combo i had missed. i have all the Rs now : 10x re4 6x re5 8x re6 4x re7 1x rh4 1x rh5 5x ri4 5x ri5 1x ri6 4x ro4

2:24 pm

I have RE/5X6

2:30 pm

Can anyone help me find my missing D? I have: DA4, DA6x3, DA7 DE4x4, DE5x4, DE6, DE7x3, DE8 Di4x5, Di5x2, Di6x3 DO4x4, DO5x2, DO6x2, DO7, DO8 DR5x3, DR6x2 I'm missing either a 4 letter word or a 6 but don't know which.

2:38 pm

Nevermind. It was a Di6 that I was missing.

2:45 pm

So, that leaves me missing just one S word for 6 letters. The S/6 words that I have so far are; 21 - looks like a word meaning "grabbed" or "took" but with a different letter in the middle. No definition. 18 - a person who would do the previous grabbing 18 - most dry (not a common word) 27 - a type of curtains 30 - tears into small pieces

3:02 pm

Still missing 2 S's I'm missing the same 6 as you jlm Plus a 4 And the word you don't have a def. for means to take possession in law 1x SA4 6x SE4 7x SE5 3x SE6 4x SH4 5x SH5 2x SH7 2x SH8 2x SH6 2x Si4 1x Si5 1x SL5 ======= 36 out of 28 =======

3:04 pm

36 out of 28, Shortseer? Sounds like My math today ;-)

3:06 pm

*lol*

3:06 pm

heh well now it's 37 out of 38

3:07 pm

Any help on the Ls? I have a pethetic 3. li4x2, li5

3:08 pm

Your math is better than my babbling today!

3:08 pm

never mind...just realized I hadn't even tried Le!

3:09 pm

Le4 x3 Le5 x2 Le6 Li4 x2 Li5 May have not much, but this letter I have got! Think of staring at someone in an unpleasant way.

3:11 pm

Woohoo Got the final word ST6 ... to trail; to drag [rare] 235 words / 5.00 / 3755

3:12 pm

So, you found your missing S4 shortseer? I hope someone can come up with the S6, but it's not likely to be me as I have to run in 5 minutes!

3:17 pm

I got it. It's was in my dictionary. Not in wordfinder. Dictionary.com defines it as: "To trail along; to saunter or be drawn along, carelessly, swaying in a kind of zigzag motion."

3:26 pm

Could you offer some help for vowels? I have one O(/7) two Es: ee4, ee5 and ir4x2. Pretty pathetic! :-)

3:30 pm

Oa5 Od4 x3 Oe7 Oo5 Or5 Or6 Os4 Ov5 Ov6

3:31 pm

For the e's: try ea. I don't have them all yet.

3:32 pm

id4 ir4 x2 ir5 is4 is5

3:36 pm

Es: Eax3 Eex2 Eix3 Er ...and I'd love a hint for the other three, too.

There's also an EL

3:39 pm

There is an Er4 and an Er5

3:40 pm

I have an S8/55 could anyone give a clue for the other one please.

3:42 pm

And one Es. That's it. :)

3:44 pm

Yay! Thanks!

3:48 pm

Treble99, there are some clues in the log. If they aren't any help: it makes me think of the wild west law upholders. ;)

3:51 pm

I need help with the A's. I have 2 AS5's

3:52 pm

You need 6x Ad and 1x Ao.

3:52 pm

Thanks, sprite. Will keep looking.

3:55 pm

I'm missing one F: can anyone help? I have: fe4x7 fe5x3 fe6x2 fo4

3:57 pm

Another Fe6. Just finished them! :)

3:59 pm

Thanks! Got it!

4:02 pm

I'm only missing 7, but I think I'm done. 228/4.98/3597 (maybe I'll look again later, but I really need to look at something else! This is insane :-)

4:03 pm

I need help with the O's. I have one od4, one ov5 and one ov6.

4:03 pm

You are so right... I should stop too, but cannot... will not... *lol*

4:04 pm

See 03.30 pm for the Os.

I just do not see where 7 K's are going to come from. I have KE7 and KI4.

Ok, I wasn't trying hard enough - now I have fiveL KE7 Ki4x3, Ki5 Would appreciate pointers for the last two.

4:20 pm

try kr!

4:21 pm

Oops, forgot to check the log before I posted. Thanks, sprite.

4:21 pm

2x Ki4 (total 3) 1x Ki5 1x Kr4 1x kr6

Got 'em all, thanks. I guess my 2:00 client isn't showing up, so an extra hour of hunting for me!

4:25 pm

:)) This game is way too addictive!

Missing one V: Vi4x5, Vi5x4, VO4x2, VO5, VO6, VO7

4:44 pm

A Vi6.

4:59 pm

Okay, I came back. I am missing two H's, but know one of them is an 8-letter. So here's my count missing one: he4x9 he5x7 he7 he8x2 Any idea what I'm missing?

5:00 pm

another He7

5:01 pm

And I only have one H8?

5:01 pm

oops, I meant one h8, two h7s. The second seven is one of the two I'm missing. Thanks.

5:02 pm

berekah, May I have a clue for your 8 letter h words, please

5:02 pm

I have one he 7.

5:03 pm

And one He6.

5:03 pm

Periwinkle, there's a list of clues for all the 8-letter words at 10:40 a.m. And I was wrong, there's only one H8.

5:04 pm

Which He7 do you have? The past tense one?

5:05 pm

berekah, thanks, I will check the log.

5:06 pm

sprite, yes, the past tense h7, may I have a clue for the other h7?

5:06 pm

I just found the past tense one. Is it at ALL like the second 7-letter one? I am totally stumped by that one.

5:07 pm

ignore me again...I'm talking about things totally different from reality. I have the past-tense 7 too and can't figure out the other one.

5:07 pm

May I have a clue for the H8 also please?

5:08 pm

No, it is more like the H8-one. Starts with the first 4 letters of it. And it sounds like a biblical king.

5:09 pm

More or less, that is. ;)

5:10 pm

Thanks! That's what I needed! Now back to the silly Ss...I have all but 5. I know the stats, but can't figure out/guess the missing words. Back to noodling (for another 10 minutes and then I'm outta here) :)

the two R7's that have to do with re-drying-out elude me. Any way to hint me without giving them away?

5:13 pm

They really did almost give them away ;-) (and yes, that's your clue)

5:14 pm

Those 2 R's drove me crazy too. And when I found them, I hit myself over the head. Read your own post over carefully, inaliloquent. You almost gave them away yourself. ;P

duh, i feel dumb. i was all wrapped up in something with an h, a la rehydrating. thanks! next client's arrival is imminent, so i'm done for the day.

5:15 pm

How about the S7 meaning Swerved from Course? Is there any other definition I could go by? Or another great "sounds like" clue? :-)

5:16 pm

Sounds a bit like what people do when they get excited. Past tense.

5:17 pm

Excited and enthusiastic, I should say.

5:24 pm

Thanks...but it's time to go and I still can't get it. I'll have to look at your list tomorrow to see what the word was :-) Thanks for your help! I'm at 230 words and done for the night.

5:26 pm
