it is a bad one. They set it temporarily, am to have surgery on feb 28, if the swelling is down enough. Yeah, pain is bad. Got lots of pain meds to help me cope.

i saw a very disturbing news report in which trump fans were shown photos of his inauguration, and the inauguration of another president's. When asked "Which crowd was bigger?" the trump fans insisted there were more people at his inauguration, even though the photo CLEARLY showed empty sections of the field. They were looking at a fact, and refusing to acknowledge it. If people are willing to do that about something that really doesn't even matter (who cares, at the end of the day, how many people were there?) how will they respond on important matters of fact?

I was changing classes, and dealing with a bunch of upsetting texts about my mum. Apparently she had a fall in the night, and the nursing home couldn't reach me. I forgot and had my phone on silent. All seems to be well, but I feel awful.

its a tricky business for sure. the new school I am in has a totally different culture - at my last school I could step out to take or make needed phone calls. Not so at this new place. Phones are verboten.
I rarely chime in, but when it comes to the prez...As a New Yorker I've seen his shenanigans over the years. He's shady at best. What's happening to this country is horrifying. I may not have agreed with former Presidents, but I respected them. I have no respect for this person.

What I find more upsetting is how many people I know - some in my own family - support him. I knew what he was. I just didn't know people I love were like that too.
