I've had two strokes and sometimes I stutter when trying to explain to someone (i.e. a doctor), why I stutter sometimes. Did I make any sense?

Yes, you make perfect sense. I have been diagnosed with mild (fortunately) cognitive impairment. I have a primary memory loss which is nicely hidden when I write because I can take all the time I need finding synonyms or other ways to describe the lost word.
I'm so sorry. Have you talked to a pro about it? Or do you find your own ways of dealing with it?
Yay, you! I had speach therapy after the strokes and one thing stuck with me.....when I cannot come up the word I want.....pick something close enough for whomever I'm trying to communicate with will understand what I am saying.
I've had several TIAs but no stroke. I'm lucky so far. You picked a good think to stick with, I think. (Most people I know (especially young ones these days) do not understand what you say when you say things like "whom."

my dear sweet sticky peach: from what you say, you seem to be able to think, as they say, on your feet. Which is a rare and valuable skill. Getting it OUT is the problem and that is a mechanical - fixable - thing.
If, after two strokes (and what a scary thing that is to live with), that is the worst, then you have had a couple of marvelous recoveries. What have you tried for the insomnia? (Babble is just a distraction, unfortunately, but not a cure)

Wonderful. Are the naps long enough for some dream time, or are they too short or shallow?
My naps vary in length.....usually I sleep one or two hours and if I have a bathroom calling me....must get up and that is when I have a difficult time getting back to sleep.....my two little rescue dogs are very good.....they sleep when I do.
Have you tried answering the calls on a strict schedule, say every three hours whether you feel it or not? The bladder fills up fairly regularly, even if you can't tell. (I know, that's just part of it but I find that it helps.)
I get up at first warning.....
Or every two hrs. That's for waking time. For during sleep, you're telling me that the "sleeping" is very shallow. ...Is there a bedside commode - and please tell me if this is getting to personal. My internalized "nurse" doesn't know any boundaries, I'm afraid.)

yes I am, definitely. The point is, most of what they will do for us is not the help we need. We do not have a home that needs cleaning (15 mins is all it takes and my love can manage that). I can wash myself and all, so no need for that either. We need help walking Terra, getting groceries, cooking dinner.
