ca9: ca + spanish yes + **z show + catacly** (government by local political bosses) (sorry if this has already been clued)
st5/12 remain emotionally untouched by whatever happens. st8: builds on the 5, belief ending ca9 has the same ending. Start with first 3 of prickly desert plant. Stats should help you find what's in between: ca9/90
fireflies. Have a blessed day, all, and a peaceful night. *leaves special hug in chog for rose to find*
Thanks Sprite. I’d missed that ending 😟
hey there Tnana
Hello Niko!!

Welcome Niko. You must be a friend of TNana.
She's my FC
(Favorite cousin)
Thanks, I was about to look up FC : D
LOL
Phantom: hostage
sometimes the "F" isn't for favorite...
Hahahahaha
I actually had someone us FU for follow up in a business email last week. And well, you know where everyone's mind went. Terrible abbreviation.
*use
Of course

I had to use Morewords for it
Stats for the 8?
If you do a Google search on catacly it comes right up
st 8/50
And stats for the first e in the last column
Tnana, shouldn't you be fishing?
Thanks!
Ooo, fishing. What's biting?
Bluegill, crappie. I know I should be, but have work to do. Dang it.
besides mosquitos...
Yeah but there is work, and then there is fresh fish for dinner.
I know, Molly, but hubby just had hernia surgery, so it's my turn to take care of him.
I will get my fishing in again soon!
Well then, he gets first dibs on your attention.
Yep
my cuz is an expert fish finder. and her husband is a prince.
Awwwww

Add a vowel, lulu
to what bzz?
The wi 4
oh yes the 4 I don't have yet I think lol
Ooo, I feel sorry for the Enable Word Nerds. Wicca is not a word. Some spells will be cast in their direction.
Make a wi4 when you blow out the candles
i just tried that word a few minutes ago
to the end?
Usually when someone says "add a vowel" they mean at the end. Otherwise they would say insert a vowel.
I've been thinking of casting my own spells...
I just cast one Bea : D
Thank you!
nothing is working so i wanted to verify but yes that is true
okay got it
I just finally got it too. ty
ch6?
Add a vowel
clue for st8? and don't say "add a vowel" because the previous word is only 5 letters! :)
lol asl ad a vowel and some other letters perhaps?lol
add a suffix. =)
add an ending
the practice of not caring lol

i have 3 st 5s but no add ons are working
ca 9/90, pls
if you have the ca9 both have the same ending
this is the clue given earlier ca9: ca + spanish yes + **z show + catacly** (government by local political bosses)
DONT HAVE CA 9
the ca uses a high letter tile
tyvm chrly
thanks cherly
yw
well i dont see ca 9 nor st 8. so frustrating. sorry
sorry not sure how else to clue
that clue is strange. si is spanish for yes but the s is not attached to the a.......so very confused.
the ca has the high point letter and ends ith liberal***
ok. so here is my clue now that i got it finally: ca + spanish for yes but with different cons., and then high point tile and liberal***. ty for clues and i did get it.
change the first letter
got it.
ty
ok the st has the same ending
still need that st 8. it is an st 5 word but i dont have it.
ending not an issue it is the first part that is not coming
st + vowel + 2/3 of frozen water + belief
i finally got it! ty to all cluers.
put the high point letter before the ending
i would say first part means to be strong and not bend to harsh punishment.

morning Trif is school out yet for you?
YAAAAAAAAS!
coongrats
ended on a bit of a down note, that I still have not addressed, and hope I wont ever have to - actively seeking a new job, with my own classroom.
i don't follow
A teacher tore me a new one the last day of school, in a way I REALLY did not merit or appreciate. I haven't said anything to her about it, and hope to have a new job in the fall, so I don't have to address it ever.
wow.. how rude
with my luck, if I stay at my current job, I will be with this b*tch 5 classes a damn day. Nope.
with
with no chance of promotion, EVER. That was what I was upset about, and she tore me to shreds over it.
then sayonara to her then
yep.
I don't do well with rude, mean people. I just cant figure out what motivates someone to spread that much negativity everywhere
plus, she's wrong. dead wrong. but will NEVER see it that way. In my head I have written all sorts of Norma Rae worthy speeches to put her in her place.
would the new job be with a new school?
yes. It was made perfectly clear to ALL of us paraeducators that we will NEVER even be granted interviews for open positions at the school.
ever.
oh.. time to move on and advance then
Paraeducator = teacher's aide, is that correct?
I'm so lucky i don't have to work with Difficult people other than a few of my customers
that is my hope, but the job market here in massachusetts is ridiculous. WAY more teachers than slots. We had a one year LTS position open in the ELA department, and received over 160 resumes, 28 candidates EXACTLY matching the criteria
wow that is competitive
that's a super outdated term, molly, as we do MUCH more than in the old days, (like teach small group and full classes) but yes
Okay, I was just trying to follow the conversation. I have not had kids in school for a while.
the way it used to work was: take a para job, or a sub job, get to know the staff, the curriculum, and the students. When a job opens up, you have a foot in the door. I was THRILLED to get hired as a paraeducator at my current school, as it is one of the best in the state. Finding out none of us will EVER be considered as candidates was gutting for all of us
wow... that's really weird that they wouldn't even consider hiring within
is the center i fishy?
yes
What jobs would be available as promotions for you and your peers? And if you are not eligible, who is? Promoting from within is industry standard. I'm sorry it's not in this case.
oh sweet jesus. no wonder no one will hire me. I am an idiot who can't find an ic4
Or an io4 : D
*waves to Saanich*
thanks molly. I helped in several english classes this year. i have a MASTERS in secondary english teaching. I know the students, the curriculum, the staff, and the administration. A REALLY nice gentleman I work with got his masters in Math, is a wonderful para, and is patient and understanding with all students. Neither one of us was even granted a courtesy interview when spots as full time teachers opened up in English and Math this year.
nbt, tra la la
ty for the io4 duh me
Well if you already have the credentials to teach, I hope you can find a teaching position in a school with a "friendlier" staff.
'waves to ru' (if you are still there)
still here.. glad you're up and running again
I know a few people who have left jobs when it was made clear to them that "they had gotten as far as they were going to get" when they were hoping for promotions.
thanks molly. i have something like 15 resumes out for open positions. let's see if i even get one interview
i have hit the ceiling at work too sadly.. it is frustrating. they always prefer outside hires too... so i understand trif. i am looking as well.
good luck with your search trif
my sympathies and encouragement are yours, cosdem, and thanks ruru
you can use us all as references...
however names like hatrick patrick, and backwards man etc won't help much ,... much less rururocks :D
unfortunate situation. went through it as well. branch head figures if they get higher grade level work from someone in place, why bother to promote them when it's more cost effective to bring in a competitive hire.
then when the other's attitude changes, they point and say see? sh/e is not that good.
life in corporate america.
As a business owner or manager, your staff is your most valuable resource. If you keep them happy and feeling valued, whatever service you are providing will stay top shelf. If not, it will deteriorate.
alas, the kudos come from ROI. WHy hire two people @ $80,000 if I have some poor slob who workd at that leve hoping for promotion. it's a two-fer.
adn we won't even talk about the agism. hire young, pay them less.
The ageism thing is starting to change. I have talked to several people who are hiring who have told me they are going for the "mature" candidates. They are tired of the youngsters who don't seem to care and spend the day on their cell phones.
but that's the rub here, TO, that makes it particularly painful, for myself and the genteleman I spoke of before - we are both over 50. We will both get paid the same as a 22 year old first year teacher, because none of us has been a teacher of record before. The school is being SO stupid. A lifetime of experience and they can pay us dirt? They should be snapping us up!
wish that were true in teaching, molly. it makes me SO MAD> I am not going on maternity leave anytime soon....
getting ready to head to the beach soon - will forget my troubles in the sun and waves.
I would never hire a millennial again. Not ever
Have fun trif. I am cleaning windows today
I have watched companies hire 20 something after 20 something, only to end up firing them. The cost of that triples hiring someone who will be dependable and dedicated.
weeding today wish me luck
in every definition of the word.
Cos, when you live in Colorado, weeding can be misinterpreted. : P
like i said.. every definition you're thinking of is accurate. :-P
lolol cosdem, it's 4:20 somewhere!
thats right! im on summer break dang it.
*Fondly remembers the days long ago when there was "summer break". Or any break, for that matter.
And that v word. I think it ends in acation.
i dont even know how to operate a weed whacker.. i guess im gonna see how good of a teacher i am to myself :P
dogs are staying inside though
ugh i have to assemble it first? fml
When I lived in a townhouse, I used to cut my grass with a weed whacker. How white trash is that? : D
i suppose/ thats what im doing :P
more so if you were on wacky weed whacking your weeds
It was a stack up townhouse with only a front yard. I had no place to store a lawnmower.
these instructions make no sense.. locate the edge guide and spread it apart and attach it to the housing unit
The words "assembly required" make me run screaming from the home improvement store.
ok i think i figured the first part out.. now i think ineed a screwdriver
ok 2nd part done i think.. and what is this leftover piece for hmmm
*Sends mechanical blessings to assembly Cos
wtf why doesnt it have an cord.. it has a place to attach electric cord plug to but no cord...
oh ok i need an outdoor ext. cord.. ihave one in the yard...
ok well if you dont hear from me . ill have ended up killig myself accidentally.. wish me luck
: O
its one of these.. "FU ryan" days i guess
i think i got it to work
good morning/afternoon everyone :)
ho7.....clue please
Not cold at all
hiya nan
ty ruru
good morning, ru
ah yes thanks that was my missing 7... stats for 8 please?
st 8
St 8/50 Cos. The condition of being St 5/12
ah thanks got em
i kept trying to end it with an H
last one - ca 9 please?
It's 90 points. Keep that in mind. Starts with the first three of desert plant, ends with suffix that means a practice, system or philosophy.
think of Socrates
don't know what socrates has to do with it, but ty molly -- don't know how ru found that at the first last night.
even from the def, I would never have found it -- new term for me
hagd everyone :)
Don't get the Socrates thing either. No clue how anyone just casually finds that.
I found the ho7 even harder
good clue, ru, and hello
Tony Parker is on a dopy talk show and he looks like the plastic surgeon on Grey's Anatomy with green eyes
Jackson Avery?
Hi Ruby. (()))
Typical. Too late.
shh i think its quiet time in here
*Gets the nap cots out
Oops. Reverses out of Chog, silently switching off lights as I stealthily make my exit.
*Puts out some of the Ranch Oyster Crackers I made for snack when the nappers awake
yard all done
neighbor saw me struggling.. he knows my story.. he just took over for me. whew.
but good news is i assembled it correctly so theres that
You have to love neighbors like that. Bless him.
was going to say you should try to keep him!
omg I love ranch Oyster crackers
I had to put them away. They are like crack, you can't stop eating them.
Yes indeed! They should be called Oyster CRACK, not crackers.
have only found 2 more words since I came back. guess I will try the list.
its not so much a neighbor but a homeless teen who sleeps by the creek behind me...hes harmless. i gave him a few cigs.
he and i spent many a night last summer drinking by the creek. this was when i had lost my mind for a few weeks :P
Oh bless him again. How sad that he has no home.
i did offer a room he said he didnt wanna take advantage and hed be fine by the creek and the mission if needed
so i give him food and cigs every now and then
Nice that you look after him.
and bless you too cosdem
never money.
sounds like you all are kinda looking out for each other. :)
we're all white trash we look out for each other kinda.. lol
Why not money Cos, do you think he's an addict that would spend it that way?
oh i know he does drugs.
no worries my streak is still good..but ive seen stuff with him.
I won't give them mnoney either, but they love jars of peanut butter
oh good idea.. and saltines
yes. peanut butter is a protein, doesn't need a fridge and everybody likes it
people who store PB in fridges irk me.. its harder to spread that way lol
except for people who are allergic ;-)
Hello (((Bugs))) How lovely to see you 🤗
haven't found a homeless person who was yet hokie, but I do ask.
I do love PB, never put it in the fridge (that is weird). It's a great hiccup cure too.
were not allowed PB at work. only soy or almond or sunflower butter
my youngest son is not allergic but claims to not like PB. I don't understand that.
Hi Soodle. Are you getting lots of snuggles with that beautiful grandbaby? I am envious. My newest grandchild came into the family at 6
I don't get storing peanut butter in the fridge.
hokie, in my family we would just say, "All the more for us!"
You work at a school, right, cosdem? I'm not surprised. My kids schools still allow it.
I guess you might have to put it in the fridge if you didn't eat it fast enough but nobody I know has that problem.
I think it's those all-natural ones or whatever that say to put in the fridge. Peter Pan does fine in my pantry.
Oh God, you can't bring any "nut" things into the schools around here. Bake sales with homemade goods are gone. It's all wrapped up, crap from the grocery store.
yes, for birthdays and stuff it had to be store-bought, but you could still take PB sandwiches in your lunch.
Bittersweet times, Bugs. My Mam died on Tuesday. But she met Baby Paul 3 days earlier. It’s been a bit of an emotional roller coaster.
oh, my favorite appalachian english word is in the grid today.
I am so sorry to hear about your Mam, Soodle. I am glad that she got to meet him in person though and now you know who his guardian angel is. You don't think she would let anyone else have that job do you?
wonders what hokie's appalachian word is
I'm hip to Carla. She always says things like that so people will ask. : D
Well, I don't want to give away words in the grid
I started looking for things like wheehaw and pogey but decided I was racial profiling and stopped.
and it's not actually my fave word, it just reminds me of home and I forget until I see it in the grid that enable has it. hi4
got it! thanks
lol, I don't even know those words you listed and it's more cultural profiling than racial. :D
true but I have learned that the poor people of the appalachians could be some of my ancestors. Apparently many of them came from Ireland with nothing and found it hard to find their feet.
Then when they got drafted in WW2 they were given skills and moved in waves to the midwest to car factories etc.
wheehaw?
it's cowboy thing I guess
yep, very common
really..
maybe you are thinking yeehaw or heehaw
maybe yeehaw is for the horse and wheehaw is for the bedroom
your picking nits, ru
i mighta said wheehaw at one time.. ya never know
Ru, once you get into Appalachian territory, all bets are off in terms of words that make sense.
correction - you're picking nits just to show that I can pick them too
I didn't even know app eng was a thing until I went to college and no one knew what I was saying
i probably had chaps on :D
I'm a little disappointed st5/12-ish isn't a word
I didn't know app eng was a thing either but it makes sense. You can go to places in Newfoundland where the people still speak with Irish terms passed down from the 1600s
yep, people came over in the 1600s and never left. isolated communities with few outsiders. language, music, will have some of that left in.
damn now i want nachos
5 words to go here. I broke down and looked up the ca9.
I wasn't sure why we were dreaming of nachos now, but I see it
i need to decide. tortilla chips or fries nachos...then i shall order it.
both sound amazing
well I found the st8 in spite of myself
last word was no6 - had to look that up, but accio fireworks!
Barbecue pork tenderloin, roasted vegetables and au gratin potatoes working here.
ill have the leftover taters
well that sounds delish too
man nap time sure takes a long time in here
fun fact I just learned. wilford brimley is still alive.
huh. he's 85.
younger than i thought
double-checked. he'll be 85 in Septimber.
Cocoon factor
LOL ru
younger than queen betty too..
indeed!
i guess oatmeal really is good for you
Lowers chloresterol
it does, documentedly, even in the form of cheeros
cheerios
i like raisin and spice yum
Cholesterol.
Hard word to spell
spoonful of sugar
icho
Icho to you too lisa
