We lost power last night from the wind. Not much rain though.
We just got in from walking around giving out candy before the rain and wind started.
We had a lull in the rain during prime trick/treat hours
Our big rain and wind didn't start until 9 PM, so trick or treating was over. Good for the kids.
We had BIG rain (street flooded) and lightning and wind around 5:30 or so. We had just had 2 groups. Died down around 7:00 and we had quite a few from then until 9:00.
I'm always glad to hear that kids still go trick or treating. Some communities have outlawed it, and moved toward parking lot and activity center events.

As a child, we stopped trick/treat before 6th grade
I honestly can't remember when we stopped. My kid that's a junior stopped about 3 years ago. The older one probably stopped around the same age. I would rather older kids be ToT if they want rather than out drinking/getting in trouble somewhere.
In our previous neighborhood we had adults asking for candy
now that's not right

My friend's neighbor hood does it right. All the adults sit at the end of the driveway with fire pits and coolers of beer.
well, yes, we have given candy to parents in costume with their kids but I was picturing groups of adults going around without kids when she said that :D
Our dog freaks out when kids come.
We did the fire pit in the driveway last year, but weather conditions did not allow that this year.

I used to carve a pumpkin with a candle in it and decorate the Windows with cut-paper ghost and witches
our dog ran out the door when our next door neighbors came. luckily he didn't knock anyone down. my husband used the rest of the night to work on training.

When my oldest son lived at home he dressed up as the grim reaper. He scared kids and parents alike. It was a fun Halloween.
One year when my kids were younger I was taking them around and someone was dressed in a costume and sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch jump scaring all the kids.
I don't think it sounds mean at all, Ruby. Halloween is the time for dressing up in scary costumes.
You must have lived in my sister's neighborhood. She used to do that same thing, dressed as a witch.
She would sit very still, so they thought she was a decoration. Then, when the kids got up to the door, she would jump up out of her chair.
