Fot the past few years, we have gone out for Thanksgiving because it was just four or five of us. This year, I decided I would cook a turkey breast and some sides. Scaled down dinner...
It was cheaper to buy a whole turkey than just the breast. The few sides have turned into, "But, we can't have a Thanksgiving dinner without ____!" Oy, vey!
why not have the guest bring some sides or dessert.....we do this and it is fun

I have also been teaching myself to read Spanish- have read all of JD Salinger in translation and am using Babbel.com. I just lack a conversation group which is the hardest part. But enough about me. What about you?
I have tried to teach myself Spanish 3 different times and can read it fairly well, but immersion is the best way. My dad used to be a Spanish teacher and offered to converse with me and we never really did. Now his mind isn't great. Also tried with a parent on the soccer team and my mind just blanked. :D
Babbel was working pretty well but I just wasn't putting in the time.
There's a podcast I listened to for a while called Coffee Break Spanish, and it's a Scottish guy, so you get that accent doing Spanish. He does Spain Spanish with the lisp and the other differences but will usually tell how it is in Latin America Spanish as well.

Watch the Good Place with Spanish subtitles. I sit watching TV and making lists of expressions.
Tele novas are too fast, but subtitles work really well. I sit with a notebook. A little obsessive.
I need to watch The Good Place. I caught back up this summer and then haven't seen any of the new season.
