So, here's what is bothering me today...I ordered a reusable Spiderman bottle for my grandson for Christmas. It was from a second party vendor on Amazon. When it was delivered, it was in a box that would fit three bottles and was filled with styrofoam peanuts.
I hate styrofoam!

I don't like the air pillows either because you have to pop them all and can't put them in the recycling. I usually stick mine in with grocery bags and take them to the store
Food Lion has bins that you can dispose of film wrap. Mine goes in that bag.
Yes me too Bea... although I save them at home to use when I send packages, to use instead of peanuts or air pillows.
I mean I save the plastic bags.
I have some saved too but I never send packages :D
I purchased some of the reusable mesh produce bags. I LOVE! those. Now when I shop I am plastic free unless it is the food package.

The closest one is about an hour away in Raleigh.
You have to bring your own bags, and do your own bagging. It helps with waste. Their prices are so much lower for most things.
we just got a lidl in the last year or so. we've had an aldi for at least 15. my friends all like aldi better, but I'm not a huge fan. I do like lidl.
We have Aldi here as well. I have shopped at both, but I prefer Lidl.
I love Aldi! We just got one about a year ago.

Bringing my own bags is not a problem. We have had bag tax for years, 5 cents a bag if you want the store bags. I have my own bags. I don't like paying for a cart though. I don't know why, it is only a quarter. It just bugs me somehow.
Lidl does have free carts, but Aldi charges the quarter.
You get the quarter back when you return the cart, Molly.

Also both Lidl and Aldi have nice wine for good prices!

last time I put a quarter in a cart at aldi, when I checked out I ended up with the one at the register already. you know how the cashier moves all your stuff to the empty one. anyhoo, the quarter slot was taped over so I didn't even get a quarter back.

I usually buy at Lidl. If I want something like a roast or brisket, I'll get at Fresh Market when they have a special.
I do food shopping at Harris Teeter, Publix, Walmart, Trader Joe's, Earth Fare, Target. occasionally I go to lidl and rarely to aldi. we just had a Food Lion open nearby that has a good selection of gluten free.
I've been buying more of my meat at a local dive convenience store that has a butcher shop in the back. I always get my pork sausage there. They also have some of the most lovely rib eyes.
I get a lot of basic stuff at Walmart, and do the free online shopping and pickup. It's so convenient. But not for produce or meat.
My friend & I have been saying for a while we are going to make a database for which stores have which gluten free products because none of them have the same ones and we can't ever remember where we got something.

Does anyone here buy a real Xmas tree? I got one yesterday and was shocked at the prices. I drove around to 4 different places, was happy to find a nice one for $40.

I heard it was because of the recession in 2008 & 2009. That's when the current crop would have been planted
40 is cheap. Real trees go up to 100. I need to get a new artificial one. Mine has seen better days.
It is my first "real" tree in 15 years. I just love the smell.
we usually stop in the mountains of NC on our way back from Thanksgiving in VA but didn't this year since we were in our motorhome. the farm we stop at posted on FB that Sun after TG that they were already sold out for the season.
we just got one at a lot here and I think we paid $120 and it's about 8ft tall.

I thought so! I think they had opened the weekend before, but sold most of them Fri. & Sat after.
Mine is shorter, hokie, about 5'8. Just a smidge taller than I. They wanted $50 and I bickered with the guy until he finally said OK fine $40! Prob just to get rid of me haha :)
