good morning, babblers!
Howdy!
Good morning, friends.
Hi Bea. congratulations. Your Chiefs did it.
Hey, Molly. Yes, they did it. It was a great game on the part of both teams.
Couple of iffy calls and that lack of a time out on Shanahan's part, that was inexcusable.
Yes, Shanahan should have taken the time outs, but I think he thought no time outs would throw the Chiefs off.
BzznBea - congratualtions!!! You win an AI neural network
YIppee! I have always wanted one of those...
I use mine every day!
phantom: latrine
yes, congrats Bea!

If y'all want to know if the world is changing, I asked my 17 yo if he knew there was a female coach and he says "why is that a big deal?"
never occurred to him that there's never been another, and why wouldn't there have been
That is good to hear, Carla.
I told him girls weren't even allowed to play when I was a kid
finally got the russian leader without a list!
Thank! I hadn't seen it yet.
I just finished a lap quilt for my dad and used mi5 (not an Enable accepted word). what a pain that fabric is! I had used it on a larger one before, but my new Bernina is so finicky I kept having all kinds of problems.
used mi5 for the backing I meant to say
I do not like working with minky. It is a pain.
And I used the word...
I probably won't ever again
and I cleaned out my machine but I feel like there's probably fuzz crammed in places I can't get to
Did you serge around the outside of the mi5 fabric before you layered the quilt?
ooh, found an 8
no, that sounds like a good idea
If there was a next time I would :D
I think it would have helped with the stretch.
used a stitch in the ditch foot for the binding (I refuse to hand stitch anything, so I do machine binding) and this was my best binding ever. usually I have spots that didn't catch on the back.
My favorite part of doing the quilt is hand sewing the binding.
my grandmother used to do the quilting by hand. maybe after this fiasco with my machine I should switch to that!

Mine is kismet
well, just tried a close one to that and it worked, thanks

Finally got the vowels. The A's were pesky today.

Haha, Pesky vowels.

good morning, Dr Scrabs!
Hi Eva. How are you and little man K doing?
we are well. right in the midst of potty training. SO MUCH FUN.
Just do it~ Nike.
just remember, the end result is so much better
its basically what we've done. i tried easing him into it. he was quickly 100% when he was naked...but the moment i put anything on him, accident city. so i just threw him straight into the deep end. all underpants all the time, except sleeping -- he still gets pullups for naptime and bedtime.
Get him in underwear first thing in the morning, set a timer, and bring him to the toilet every 30 minutes.
well, these pesky vowels are going to have to wait. gotta feed the dog and get ready for the gym. finally making it back after a week of being sick!
Accidents are part of the learning. Don't clean him for 10 minutes after an accident, not as punishment but to experience the inconvenience.
Good work, Eva, most parents do not tolerate accidents, put their kid back into diapers, and "wait until he/she is ready." Nope, they are ready when they are pretty young.
i did that for a while, but it ended in more tantrums than it was worth. hes pretty good about going when he needs to pee. he is hit-and-miss with poop. like yesterday, he pooped in the potty + i praised him and gave him marshmallows. 3 minutes later, he pooped in his underpants.
Keep pushing him into independence.
i just wish it werent so messy. or expensive.
It's less expensive to stop buying diapers.
I passed halfway and need to get on with my day. Good luck, Eva. Forge ahead.
I've had children and grandchildre who picked up potty training quickly. Then there were 2 g'children who didn't
I honestly can't even remember how my 2 boys did. Yesterday I was cleaning out their bathroom cabinets and found a little potty seat that goes on a toilet. Made me sad they are so old now.
ki
just entered a word that I just saw and it said I already entered it. makes me wonder what I thought I entered earlier.

Hi all
Have a good evening peri. Hi sukee
Hi sukee
I had an exciting afternoon. Our power went out and I was stuck in my lift chair which is electric. I had the footrest out and I could not get out of it. It lasted almost 2 hours. Needless to say, I was starting to panic a bit. Now I'm afraid to put out the footrest. Also in my panic I had unplugged it but luckily managed to plug it in again.'
yikes
I can understand the panic!
Now my legs are quite achy.
perhaps keep your mobile phone on you when you use it then if you get stuck you can call someone.
Thing is, I only have a house phone which doesn't work in a power outage. And, it had actually run out of power. Maybe time I got a mobile phone.
Possibly a good idea for emergencies.
You don't need anything fancy if you only use it on rare occasions.
Just keep in charged so it's got power in a power outage!
Power outages in this building only usually last about 5 minues. The workers in the lobby must have blown a fuse which effected the building generator.
And of course, the cats were meowing at me because it was time for them to be fed :)
Here storms sometimes cause major power outages. The worst I've experienced lasted nearly 48 hours.
Poor cats.
LOL, they are not starving :)
Have you tried telling them that?
Yeah, right :)
once, long ago, a cat died because its dinner was two minutes late. cats have never forgotten this.
lol
Like I put seeds out for the cockatoos and 10 mins later they're screeching at my hubby that they're starving.
Fireworks. Have a good day / evening everyone.
WTG
Was reading about power recliners, supposedly you can call the fire department to get you out if you get stuck :) That would work :)
what if you're stuck because your cat is laying on you
:)
Well, I give up for tonight. Take care.
I have been following this conversation and I have a question. How can you call the fire department to get you out of your power recliner in a power outage if you only have a land line that doesn't work in a power outage?
it apparently assumes that one is tied to one's cell phone...
I love my cell phone after I fell and badly broke my leg in a location where I wouldn't be found for another 10 or more hours. I don't give many people the number because I don't want to be found all the time but it was invaluable in calling for help.
maybe the chair is itself able to signal emergency services via a button, like how an alarm system can be tied in?
I am sure it was....i am not a p hone person....never have been....but I have been thinking that it might be good to bring it with me when I do things like take a shower or go down the stone steps to the basement....
hursh...that would be cool....my mother had a power recliner years ago and she really liked it...
good plan penquis. It was cold on the frozen ground outside in November. . .
I had the same thought hurshy because she was talking about a power recliner
i bet....my friend fell in her garage and broke her arm...couldn't get up....luckily she had her cell phone with her to call someone....
Good ideas everyone. Bugsaw, that must have been scary.
i got a cell phone after getting a flat tire and just luckily was close enough to a gas station to pull in there and get fixed, but there was nothing else nearby for miles
years ago i got a car phone because I had to drive some 30 mile stretches with no houses or businesses...
It was until I remembered the cell phone was in my pocket. It was a long wait until my husband came (because he is a slow moving man) and I was getting pretty chilled. It would have been horrible if I had to wait until my friend came home at the end of her day.
I went down at 8:30 am
don't you have an emergency number in canada?
i think a badly broken leg warrants a call to that rather than waiting for a slow-moving husband
we do - 911 - but I thought my husband would be able to get me into the car to drive me to the hospital. I am cheap
you'd have to pay if you called 911?
I had no idea how bad it was. I just knew it was broken. By the time he got there the shock had worn off and every movement was very painful. When I couldn't cooperate with him to get me up I called 911
You don't pay for the call but you do pay for the ambulance. It was worth it. Those guys were so calming and gentle
that's not stretchering the truth
well done ruru
i wouldn't have thought you'd have to pay for the ambulance in canada
an ambulance here is ridiculously expensive
Not much. I was in hospital for 4 days, had surgery, 3 ambulance rides and the whole thing cost me $85 for the first ambulance calls. When the system sent me to another hospital for the surgery and brought me back by ambulance, those ones were free.
I was thinking the same thing as Hurshy. People are always talking about how great health care is in Canada. I guess I assumed an ambulance ride was part of all that great stuff.
ah, well, $85 isn't so bad compared to the kinds of numbers you hear for stuff in the US
They charge a bit if you call it because sometimes people want a taxi ride and use the ambulance instead. It might have been waived if I had extra coverage but the basic that I had covered everything else.
We are so lucky in the uk. There are no charges for anything on the nhs apart from prescription charges for medicines and some other items but even those are free for a lot of people
an ambulance ride here in the bay area is well over $1,000 or more
When I was down on the ground I had no idea what it would cost but knew I would find the money somehow. Mr Bugs was trying to help but I was not able to help myself at all.
don't you have to pay for the upgrades at Beatrice's wedding? :D
Wow. My husband has had major surgery and chemotherapy that will have cost the nhs £10,000s but we’ve not had to pay a penny
Yes, no cost for chemotherapy here either, Jaxx. We are so lucky. I think the American people are being bullied by private insurance companies.
and in the US that same treatment would cost far more because we have to make sure that certain people can make a profit off everything...
I dread the American companies getting hold of our nhs and imposing charges
In 1970 in France I had emergency surgery and was in the hospital a week......cost me a total of 80 cents for my thermometer!
exactly god save you if you need chemo or have aids.. the drug costs are impossible
heaven forbid that ever happens! I am still rooting for the people in the US to get proper information and proper coverage. When it is universal, no-one pays what they have to pay in the UD
US even
that would be a UNEmometer
Hee hee
has a little portrait of Rafa on the end
Aaahhh, my sweet Rafa.....
(mops up Une off the floor)
*snort*
pb for une!
Fyi, rooted for Thiem after Rafa was out in Melbourne.....
Anything good in the PB?
