A few weeks ago I was asked to do a family quiz on Zoom.First week we had two neices and partners and a great niece and paartner. Following week my twin from Durban joined. Then my niece from Cape Town.Last week my daughter and partner joined and so did my niece from Boulder. This week we will also my nephew from Boulder and brother from Denver. All I can say bis hooray for lockdown!!
Sounds like a lot of fun, Deeha.

Good to hear Zoom is keeping people connected. I thought Skype was already doing that, but Zoom seems to have reached more people.
I think it is because Zoom has been free and maybe skype isn't?
Can you skype with more than one person?
I have no idea. I thought Skype was free.
hello y'all. skype is free unless they changed in the years since I used it.
I have done group facetime too but everyone has to have iPhone
Google face time is another way
Ah, that would leave me out. The only Macintosh product I ever bought was an iPad, which now sits, unused.
zoom is only free for like 45 min or something.
I use my IPad all the time. Read books on it.
I'm wondering what happens after that 4 minutes?
It figures Google would have some competition for the Mac folks. Okay, I didn't know there were charges involved in Zoom. Non of the blowhards in my company would be able to keep a meeting to 45 minutes.
Sorry, I meant an iPod
my son says you can have group Skype audio calls but he's not sure about video calls
I don't use my IPod any more. Gave it to Mr. B
we did start off with skype but for some reason thesound
quality wasnt good
yeah, when we were doing our camping group zoom happy hours, the guy that set it up had a free trial that gave us unlimited time but after that ran out we would get kicked after a while
I've zoomed doctor visits
How do Zoom doctor visits work? How can they take your vitals?
I had a phone dr. visit. I took my own BP.
I have the free zoom. When we have Master Gardner meetings, after about 40 minutes, my computer lags and audio drags.
last year or the year before I did a video visit, but that was before I ever heard of zoom. it was some other program.
Can't take vitals, but I had blood tests done beforehand. That takes care of most of my issues. Took BP at the supermarket
I'm going to do my next zoom meeting on Larry's computer. See if that helps.

Just a note to all you people ordering grocery delivery. If it is important to you that your shopper is wearing gloves, please check to make sure they are. I just got a photo from the woman shopping mine and she is not. This doesn't really matter to me, but I know it would to some of you.
i have heard two things, you are supposed ot not touch any of it unless you have to for an hour but also wipe things down when it arrives b4 putting away
Well add to that the fact that it has been said this virus travels through what is coughed or breathed out (hence the mask requirement) not through touch.
67 left after first run-through. the single word tiles are killing me. I mean, that's not 67 words but still.
And how do you not touch perishables and frozen food for an hour?
going to walk the dog before it gets unbearable. TTFN.
bye hokie
molly yeah i know i just meant the foods you don't have to touch right away. i know it doesn't make sense

No, running like a well oiled machine...
brave lady -- covid cases increasing rapidly in NC
Yes, I know. Wore my mask. Touched nothing. Have my own mesh bags and I had the vendor put the produce in them. It is open air as well.
Less people there than at the grocery store.
open air does help -- hope everyone was wearing masks. Health officials really seem to be pushing that idea now.
here
oops
Yes, the vendors and the customers must be wearing masks.
my fear is that as long as people continue to believe trump's crazy theories, we will never get rid of it
Es Eliminated!
sooner or later our borders will have to open up again and things will get worse.
we are still being advised not to travel outside of BC, but that doesn't mean that the Albertans can't come here for their holidays as usual and I suppose once the border with the states opens we will have our usual complement of Americans here as well.
you may be helped by the new rules where the US won't let americans back in without a passport or passport card - people like my dad don't want the hassle of getting one so they just won't go to canada
(the rules pre-date covid but are only a couple years old)
Ds Done!
fmaybe -- but we also have a lot of Canadians living along the border who like to cross over to do their shopping (even for groceries) because everything is so much cheaper in the states.
Hah, as soon as they announced lockdown here, a lot of the touristy villages, especially coastal ones, suddenly filled up with parisians escaping to their holiday homes. Hence they had to put in a 100km travel rule
is the curve starting to flatten there buggie?
phantom: strut
oh yeah, Paris and the North-East of France are still slowing down. But we’ve gone from over 7,000 people in reanimation in hospital in the whole of France down to under 900.
reanimation?
sounds like frankenstein
Oh sorry, that’s the French term. Intensive care
:D
i always liked it when poirot used cognates from french that didn't quite work in english, like "do not derange yourself"
I find that’s the best figure to go by to see the trends, as detected cases depends on the number of tests carried out
And since there are more tests being done now, the numbers are going up.
oh yeah. And the French love to use bad English. One I hear often when people are surprised: "I am shocking"
lol
Ss Smacked!
The only testing being done here now is a result of contact tracing. We really don't have that many cases any more.
Yes Bea. We suddenly had a lot of cases after they started easing lockdown. But that was mainly due to better testing and teams set up to trace all the contacts of patients. So far there seems to be no sign of a second wave
reanimation? are the french making zombies??
Fs Finished!
I just need 1 F, what do you think it is, hurshy?
Is In the books!
Os Over!
fi5/18? have that
I wonder how much of that is governments just telling us the reason for more cases is more testing -- I don't think that is necessarily true. When you look at some of the graphs, like the one for AZ -- I don't think they increased their testing one hundredfold overnight.
oh let me see
fi4/8 perhaps
I have one fi4/8
or 4/7, french sons?
prob a plural somewhere
everything else is pretty normal and yeah check plurals and pt

I can't believe I found all three 9s!! I'm lucky if I even get a 7.

yeah those were nice findable 9s today, very cool
bea, I just found out last night that craftsy/bluprint was shutting down
Oh, no! I liked them!
I am a monthly subscriber! they don't say when the last time to access the stuff is but they said if you bought classes they were going to find a way for you to get a copy to keep.
I've got a curtain class pulled up right now for later.

not seeing tr with tight spiral
Hah! Found that pesky TR.
I have all the 8s and 9s, but still have six 7s to find - grrr!
I still have 4 8's!
and six 7's
the tr words are stranger than fiction
Once you start finding the 8s, you should find a bunch. They are mostly related in form, as it were.
duh
I had the r words within the tr words

It's a fairly common shortening of a longer word that normally contains ough
a phonetic spelling of a word
duh, I usually see that
thx

What good advice, peri! I just went through my list, pluralizing when I could, and got 23 new words!
Finished! A fun grid, with lots of words that were easy to guess, and just enough weird ones for educational purposes. I'm thinking of the pu/6/33 and its extensions. Who knew there was a word for that?
Anyone needs clues before I go make lunch?
Apparently not. Enjoy the grid! Bye...

have a question: have gone on a couple of non food shopping trips, but could not stay long. overwhelmed. anyone else finding this?
I picked up a couple of bikes this week, but aside from that, my only ventures outside are the 5 mile walks I do each day
Have my groceries, beer and pretty much anything else I need delivered
i go out and do grocery shopping with social distancing sometimes. Mostly my husband goes alone. Most people stay at an acceptabl distance so I feel ok
good evening.
hi phan
how are you TO?
hanging in there. seems my health is deteriorating from lack of exercise and change in eating habits.
food not as readily available and it's pounded into our heads to shop less frequently = lack of fresh foods
I am so sorry. It is so hard. I will confess, we shopped and bought produce weekly except when we had to be under quarantine because we had the virus in this house.
but you have to make decisions based on what is best for you. We are living in tough times.
i baked a lot. thought beauswe i used ilive oil it would be ok. but there were many stretches where i just did not feel like going out to walk.
Well, exercise/walking can make one feel better....
yes. once i get out there, i do feel better.
the doctor said i should not return to the gym until the first of the year.
he fears a second wave.
i was surprised. thought i might go back in september.
That is probably a good idea, but that makes it hard. It is always hard to change routines.
any chance you can clue the EL 5/6 pair?
yes. the changes are sweeping, at least for me.
I am walking the street behind my house, instead of playing tennis. The two mile walk is much more strenuous (steep hills). Takes me an hour.
hills are great!
el5/6 to slur together two words.
go down then up
i walk about 3+ miles per day. today it only took half an hour.
After a few weeks, I still have to have several huff, puff breaks. I need people to put chairs at the end of their driveway. lol.
WOW TO that is impressive!
i have a hill at the midway point, then a small one at the last half mile.
well little good it's doing. i used to be in the gym four days at least, zumba and weights.
mine is up 30 feet, down 200, up 150 feet, turn around and come back.
sounds like a treadmill program!
I put an altimeter on my phone to check. lol
having a hard time with the clue for the EL 5/6 pair.
today i only walked about 3, and it's usually 4o minutes. today was a little less on both
