Morning, all.....99 to go....

6:09 am

149 to go and seeing nothing. How is Nashville doing? I have closely followed the events and those police officers have my utmost admiration.

6:14 am

140 left and I must get ready for work.

7:18 am

Thanks for the Happy New Year messages from Down Under. HNY to everyone here.

7:55 am

Thanks, Molly.

7:55 am

Good morning, Babble friends.

7:56 am

Glad to be kicking 2020 to the curb!

7:56 am

Bye bitch, don't let the screen door hit you on the way out.

7:57 am

Do you have to work all day, Molly?

7:58 am

I read a great article yesterday on putting things in perspective. Yes, it was a bad year for most of us. And yet it was a year. People fell in love, got engaged, got married, had babies. Good things did happen.

8:01 am

Yes, there was a lot of good. I also think it was good in a way that showed us we could slow down. We found other ways to connect with friends and family. Lots of positives.

8:02 am

I think that many people are appreciating the simpler things in life and that the slower pace of life has been good for many - more time at home without long commutes, spending time with partners, kids etc, where able. The beauty of the natural environment and the peace without cars, planes etc. I know that for so many it's been a terrible year with deaths, job losses etc, but I'm grateful for what I have and those around me.

8:15 am

morning all

8:16 am

Hey, lindy.

ri7?

8:16 am

hiya bea

8:17 am

Don't have it, sug.

8:17 am

The other positive about this year is the way many people pitched in to help those in need. Those who lost jobs, those with sick family members. I think the collective community spirit shone very brightly this year.

8:17 am

lots of helpful clue-giving this past year :)

8:18 am

we had huge flooding in our area this year with 2 dams failing in the spring. there has been so much giving and helping those who lost so much

8:19 am

ri7....to do away with something + variation on Cain's brother

8:19 am

thanks molly

8:19 am

ty molly. I feel like that should be pluralizable

8:20 am

like "I took my ri7s and put them out on the curb"

8:20 am

Yes, like "I gave Good Will my ri8"

8:20 am

exactly

8:20 am

Are there other communites that do that? Put stuff at the curb for others to take?

8:21 am

pretty much everywhere, bea

8:21 am

unless it's with a long i - like "five of my horses are my ri7s, the rest are for pulling my plough"

8:21 am

happens in our small community

8:21 am

all our televisions are from the curb

8:22 am

my family mocks me for it

8:22 am

makes sense to have the long i, harry

8:22 am

Do your repair them, HH?

8:23 am

no - they're all in perfect condition - ppl get new flat screens and throw their old enormous tvs out

8:23 am

Mr. Bea picks them up from the curb. If he can fix it, he does, if not he takes them to E-cycle.

8:24 am

though nobody is using the tvs here anymore - all the kids and the wife watch on their phones or ipads or laptops

8:24 am

we all use tvs here, even though we have other devices. just way more comfortable to use.

8:24 am

I found out this morning that I have been pronouncing the word copse wrong my entire life. I have always said it with a long O. It's a short O, like cops.

8:25 am

I think so too

8:25 am

I tend to play games on my computer while watching tv, too.

8:27 am

nbt nbs and 130 to go. have fun all!

8:27 am

bbl

8:28 am

if it weren't for football and basketball and baseball my TV would be on the curb. I'd call Harry to pick it up

8:29 am

I haven't watched tv since March.

omg, almost 40 A's

8:29 am

Sports is all that gets watched on our TV too

8:29 am

we have a few streaming services, but no live tv or cable

8:29 am

It's okay, Carla. Breathe!

8:30 am

morning, all - when i was young, it was standard practice to cruise ocean parkway (in brooklyn) for furnishings

8:30 am

Any other shows I watch, I watch on Hulu so I don't have to deal with commercials.

215 left. :D

8:30 am

Mom uses cable. Larry streams.

8:31 am

Best source of freebies here is nextdoor.com.....for example, free bikes for some of our soup kitchen workers!

8:32 am

We have something called Freecycle that is similar

8:32 am

Right

8:33 am

I've been thinking about putting free stuff on nextdoor.

I sold a sewing machine on next door once.

8:34 am

Have been able to get clothes and linens and furniture for folks moving into section 8 housing too

hmm, I'm way more concerned about these Bs than the As now.

8:34 am

my awful neighbor on the corner is moving out finally and has all sorts of crap on the curb.

8:36 am

Back in a bit.....

8:38 am

I'm still missing 2 B's.

I only found 11

12

8:40 am

There is one B is didn't think would work because it is usually proper.

meanwhile, I have found 28/38 A's

8:41 am

See there...Not so hard after all.

8:41 am

Is it raining in your area, Carla?

yes, had a big downpour about 15 min ago, now just steady

8:43 am

I think we have jsut had drizzle all night.

has it started there?

8:44 am

morning all! phantom alabaster

howdy dan

8:45 am

we had some earlier this am and just a short time ago

this probably came from you, mlfan

ooh, I have somehow managed 4 8's without noticiing

8:46 am

i thought it came from you?:P

it usually comes from the northwest. I know you are north of me and I think a little west. :P

8:49 am

i saw on a weather map yesterdays texas is getting some storms

8:49 am

i see the sunshine how

8:49 am

now

it's really foggy here

8:51 am

i need stats for the bottom L pls?

li 4/4

8:52 am

8:52 am

ty and hello luv

8:55 am

4th column e stats pls?

ea5, es6 & 7

8:57 am

hokie clue the es 6 pls?

8:57 am

es6 de corps

8:58 am

Too early to see clues for me...BBL

french sounding - Es6 de corps - there was a clothing brand in the 80s that was big

bye bea

8:58 am

hokie ty clothing brand got it for me

yw

9:02 am

If Dr. God could make one change here (which I know he won't) it would be nice to have two chat option. One where cluing was okay and one with no cluing.

that would be nice

9:03 am

And I know you can turn off chat (and I do when clues start flying) but it would be nice to have the clueless option for people who like to find words on their own.

yes, but still like to chat with each other

9:14 am

that would lead to three chat rooms.. one for the lurkers, one for the regular people, and one for the clue mongers

but wouldn't the lurkers just lurk in the other 2 rooms? if they're lurking a chat room of lurkers, there's nothing to see

9:15 am

and everyone would just use the same one anyway...

9:15 am

then there'd be a chat for them to post eo ... or at.. or on.. or pt...

9:16 am

Another game I play you can just block a person so you do not see what they are saying. Like trolls and annoying people who complain too much.

9:17 am

oh.. that would be my dream feature zooz

9:17 am

what game is that zooz?

9:17 am

It is good.

9:17 am

Gems Of War, Peri.

9:18 am

not a word game tho right?

9:18 am

it could be done with a filter, as long as there was a standard prefix like CLUE: that we adopt (and enforce). then it would be relatively easy for each of us to choose to hide or show clues without bifurcating the chat

9:18 am

No sorry.

9:19 am

would still require Dr. God to build the hide/show toggle

well, I have 67 left after first pass. managed to gray 7 small ones but still have one blank one.

you could try emailing a request. he is pretty responsive to email, whether he would do the request is another matter.

9:21 am

dreamers

yeah, the chances are super low. I'm just saying recently I emailed him about something and he responded in less than 24 hours.

not sure he fixed it though, just confirmed what I thought and marveled that it had never come up in this many years.

9:24 am

Quick responses, yep. Changes to the board, not a chance.

9:25 am

Ah, I just watched another person ride off into the retirement sunset. Lucky.

9:25 am

wish we had a few authorized chat monitors who could flush out trolls when they appear, like that interaction with Fuhns the other day

I saw that and left. I think the best interaction with trolls is to just ignore them and they will move on.

9:26 am

I wish only one membership per IP address was allowed. That would cut down on the number of "fake posters under assumed names".

but yes, would be nice to be able to ban obvious trolls

9:27 am

dreamer

9:27 am

mea culpa - i was the one who reacted

<----now singing supertramp

9:27 am

I'm with you welki.. i like to take those assholes on

LOL, that's what they want!

that's what they thrive on. no idea why.

9:28 am

they love getting people worked up.. like so many others here

9:28 am

Lots of people thrive on negative attention. It's a twist.

don't take the bait!

9:30 am

Don't take the bait for trolls, but please, feel free to tell me to fuck off : D

9:30 am

here and on facebook that is

9:30 am

ha molly

ru, does surge on serpentine have tourettes or what?

9:31 am

From what I have heard, Facebook is a real whine fest these days. I know three people who have quit in the last two weeks.

9:31 am

I know people who have quit because of politics.

9:32 am

These people have quit because of all the COVID wars.

well I quit last January, and it was the best thing ever. and I had been on there since you were required to have a .edu email.

9:33 am

Covid wars?

9:33 am

abas

9:33 am

I know people who have quit playing here because of politics.

9:33 am

Crap! Sorry. Didn't realize the cursor moved.

there's just so much disinformation on there

9:34 am

Pro mask, anti mask, shaming people for get togethers, etc.

no prob, champ. I needed that one!

9:34 am

Silver lining!

9:34 am

I don't shame 'em I aim at 'em.

I need to feed the dog and myself. kinda stuck here at 66. BBL.

9:35 am

So you yell at people on Facebook when they say they had a small family gathering for Christmas?

9:36 am

I was joking. I get pissed but I keep it to myself.

9:38 am

people will do what they want. people who want to amplify what they do on a social media platform get the consequence of that performance.

9:40 am

My husband and I haven't done anything since March. No family visits, no haircuts, no dentist, no nothing. We don't want to be the reason anybody gets sick.

9:42 am

good morning everyone - right there with you gramma :)

9:43 am

It's good to know we're not alone while being alone.

9:44 am

Pen, I see that your lobster finally ate that COVID Santa. Yay lobster!

10:04 am

I'm so tired of looking at my santa in the chat -- changed the icon 3 days ago, but the new one only shows in my profile

10:04 am

not sure what you are talking about but....yea lobster!!

10:04 am

si it about wd 40?

10:04 am

ir4/5 mlf

10:05 am

nan....i see the santa but when I click on your pic i see something else....

10:05 am

You have to do a hard refresh to update what you see here

10:05 am

oh -- good - you are seeing the new one, mlf

10:05 am

finall got it

10:05 am

yes very funny too cyber

10:05 am

10:05 am

ty phae finally got it

10:06 am

yw

10:06 am

What kind of computer do you use? Mac or Windows. For Windows it's CNTRL + F5

10:06 am

nan.....i did control F5 and now I see the new one....

10:06 am

log off and sign back again to your computer account

10:07 am

On a Mac it is Command + Shift + R

10:07 am

that worked - ty pen

10:08 am

do you think mine would show up if i did that?

10:08 am

try it...

10:09 am

what would it do otherwise?

10:09 am

but to me, MLF, you still show as a black square...

10:09 am

yeah i know:(

10:10 am

anyone have the ba8?

10:10 am

i suggest you just upload a new pic...

10:11 am

I see a black cow at midnight in MLF's icon

10:11 am

moo

10:12 am

isn't it awfully early to be hitting the bottle ru?

10:12 am

moo, ru, too... ;o)

10:12 am

it's never too early

10:14 am

... um Nan.. we ARE talking about 2020 right?

10:15 am

you seeing things :)

10:16 am

I changed my icon too. Let;s see if it worked.

10:16 am

It worked!

10:17 am

i see it...

10:17 am

you speaking East Oakland nan

10:17 am

it did but you need to change the description

10:18 am

you lost me on the east oakland part

10:19 am

you vs. you''re...

10:20 am

guess if it is something pen can't say in polite chat, I don't want to know

10:20 am

Profile updates.

10:20 am

updated

10:20 am

35 more to go.

10:21 am

stuck at 64

10:21 am

nan...i think it's just you vs. you're in your post...

10:21 am

79 and heading for the list

10:22 am

oh brother - two aa's to start

10:22 am

I'm back. still 66. I take it as a bad sign if ru is at 64.

10:27 am

Aw Bea, what a sweet picture. Happy Anniversary to you and Larry.

10:27 am

i take it as a bad sign that the list starts out with two AA words....

10:27 am

Thanks, Molly.

10:28 am

yeah, wonder which A. I have 5 from top and 2 from bottom two missing

10:28 am

obviously the aa aren't from the bottom one

10:29 am

you're really sharp today, carla.... ;o)

10:29 am

I hope ru isn't upset -- was just joking about him seeing things

10:29 am

true

10:29 am

Well, if it is an AA word, the A's would have to be close together.

10:29 am

*things that weren't there

10:29 am

bea's on her game too

10:30 am

i think ru's hide is thicker than that....

10:30 am

I only have three A's left.

10:30 am

yeah, I agree, and I think he's diligently looking for words so I don't catch him :D

10:31 am

honestly bea, you should be finished with the A's now ;P

10:31 am

really if AWOL is a word, ASAP should be one too

10:32 am

hah....found those two AA words....another indication that i have been playing way too much Babble....

10:32 am

doh, just found the over the shoulder boulder holder

10:32 am

I thought the same thing, pen.

10:33 am

no idea on the aa words

10:33 am

stats please?

10:33 am

they end in two vowels....aa 5/6

10:34 am

aa5.10

10:34 am

well the plural does not end in two vowels.. ;o)

10:34 am

already tried aals just in case I wasn't seeing it.

10:34 am

gracias

10:34 am

de nada...

10:35 am

Here is my question...why does ANYONE think working on New Year's Eve is a good idea? Note: my boss is up at his lake house. : (

10:36 am

bummer, Molly....

10:36 am

I think it is ridiculous. And I have never liked your boss.

10:36 am

LOL

10:36 am

tried everything I can think of and still no aa

10:36 am

I hope to have more leave at the end of next year and I will schedule my time off to suit MY NEEDS

10:37 am

dart's favorite word nan

10:37 am

what do you do, molly?

10:37 am

There is only one way aa5 can end in two vowels

10:37 am

no.. there are two ways molly

10:37 am

not exactly, there are two sets of two vowels right there

10:37 am

End in the same two vowels...

10:37 am

but still

10:37 am

I work for a dry utility subcontracting consultant

10:37 am

at least on the grid :D

10:37 am

sounds dry

10:38 am

got aa5

10:38 am

I'm a paid cork dork

10:38 am

These people live to work. It's like they get off on it. It's really creepy.

10:38 am

10:38 am

thanks pen

10:39 am

10:46 am

pb molly

10:46 am

the PB is getting crowded...

10:47 am

Make sure you have your masks on in there.

10:47 am

Well with a word like list in the grid, it was bound to happen

10:47 am

whatever that is

10:47 am

with people who don't care :P

10:47 am

pen sure is isnt it

10:47 am

hope it's big enough for social distancing...

10:47 am

Dear God yes, be sure to wear a mask or Nan will be in there with her bazooka

10:51 am

ty bea and pen

10:52 am

10:52 am

no, carla -- is it something to do with a comic strip?

10:53 am

in WWII my father was trained in cooking school, then given a bazooka when he arrived in Europe....surprised he could carry it around since he weighed maybe a130 pounds....

10:53 am

anyway -- off to get some breakfast

10:53 am

I wonder how much they weigh

10:54 am

I wonder what they are

10:54 am

large gun put on the shoulder to fire...

10:54 am

I wonder how you've made it this long without knowing

10:54 am

They fire rockets.

10:54 am

13.26 pounds according to Google

10:55 am

my father lucked out...they were in Belgium and he was a native French speaker....so he was assigned to headquarters...

10:55 am

oh, not as heavy as you'd think

10:55 am

it looks heavier than that....

10:55 am

nice, pen

10:55 am

That is heavy enough for a weapon you carry on your shoulder

10:56 am

i guess it is actually a rocket launcher used against tanks...

10:57 am

10:57 am

trying to change my icon.. not loading correctly

11:03 am

heading out to work.. bye for now

11:04 am

I see it...hahahahaha

11:10 am

just went back through the chat. If you are 3 years old when the war ended, you don't know what a bazooka is, molly

11:11 am

not a guy - no brothers - not knowing anyone who has a weapon, not being interested in weapons, not liking violence and never watching violent movies.

11:11 am

I believe they used bazzoka's in Korea...

11:12 am

however I did recognize the description of the weapon -- I just never knew what it was called and was never interested

11:12 am

I didn't pay any attention to wars when I was a kid, bojazz

11:13 am

I'm done here for the day...See you all next year!

11:13 am

Nor history as an adult, i'd say.

11:13 am

bye bea - Happy New Year! Slainte Mhath

11:13 am

and here I was thinking it was bubble gum...

11:14 am

not modern war history

11:17 am

History in Canadian schools back then did not concentrate on modern warfare -- more of the anients and renaissance with emphasis on english and french. I think there was section in about grade 10 or 11 on the world wars

11:24 am

had enough of this grid -- Happy New Year, everyone. We'll al be glad to put this one behind us.

11:25 am

12:54 pm

cause i do not think it is possible there is another 4

12:54 pm

12:54 pm

yes have those

12:54 pm

Prolly, that. I miscount all thetime.

12:55 pm

it's true

of course I'm still missing 5 P's so maybe not that true

1:45 pm

pe8?

yes, that is one of the 5 missing

it's the most from a bog

1:47 pm

the pa 5/6/6 between the 2nd pa 4/5 combo took me forever to monkey.

1:55 pm

Clue for pa7/32?

1:56 pm

like... most buddy-buddy? only you would think that would need two Ls

1:57 pm

but with 2 Ls it would be most gloomy, wouldn't it?

1:57 pm

to prevent the A from going long

1:57 pm

one of those very difficult linguistic choices i guess

1:58 pm

my monkeys finally took out that bear but...

1:59 pm

ooh that silly te5/12 babblet!

2:00 pm

2:53 pm

Why doesn't it take ableist? And my name is here.

hi leisl, you get a tiara for your name being in the grid!

2:54 pm

it's too new of a term

it does take a similar one, do you have that?

2:55 pm

Yes, I have the similar one.

2:55 pm

oh my, now that i have the list, i find that there are two ar8s to find!

2:55 pm

hurshy, I guess so.

2:55 pm

got them!

I guess those are 2 of my missing 3 from that A

2:56 pm

Thanks for the tiara!

finally one not going to peri ;)

hurshy are those ar8's everyday words? compounds?

2:57 pm

hey! I had no idea peri would appear in so many grids.

2:57 pm

and I have since been promoted to crown

peri!

2:58 pm

no, they end with two of the endings that get used a lot today tho

2:58 pm

I am mostly lurking nowadays

2:58 pm

they are only one letter diff from each other

2:58 pm

84 left and stuck

46 and stuck

I still have 10 4s to find. guess I will look for those.

3:02 pm

that furniture is too heavy to lift, but since the floor is smooth, it's probably sl8

got that, thanks. did someone request and I missed it or you just knew I didn't have it? :D

4:52 pm

ty....leftovers are my friends... ;o)

5:06 pm

sorry, I had to run an errand... any clues needed?

5:18 pm

Whee! Fireworks already. I think all this stay at home stuff is going to make for a loud New Years Eve.

5:21 pm

I hope not. One of my dogs is terrified of the noise.

5:29 pm

back to find my last 6....

5:33 pm

can't find my last word....first ba 7 anyone?

5:33 pm

The act of pouring water the Brit way?

5:34 pm

the first one I have is to dunk someone in water

5:34 pm

is that ba 7/36?

5:34 pm

No, that's not it

5:34 pm

i need the ba 7/36...

5:37 pm

i got it

5:37 pm

i don't...

5:38 pm

most of round toy + mr Sedaka

5:38 pm

starts like a helium thing ends like astronaut Armstrong, only spelled differently

5:38 pm

ty....i am done....i don't think i have seen that one before...

5:39 pm

from the Sweet Caroline to the moon... ;o)

5:39 pm

Of or relating to bathing...sure

5:40 pm

Sweet Caroline is Diamond, not Sedaka

5:40 pm

that's neil diamond

5:41 pm

(bets Pen knows what a bazooka is though)

5:41 pm

ah yes...i knew that...."breaking up is hard to do!"

5:41 pm

By the way Ru, your favorite Diamond song, Holly Holy was featured in the Mr. Mercedes series. Very well too.

5:41 pm

Dam doo bee doo dam dam

5:43 pm

I like that cracklin rosie song

5:44 pm

You haven't lived until you have seen Diamond do "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show" live. Fortunately, I did.

5:45 pm

you sat through an entire Neil Diamond concert?

5:45 pm

more power to you

5:45 pm

lol...

5:45 pm

/me hides under the desk

5:45 pm

He is awesome in concert.

5:46 pm

ok. I can believe that. maybe

5:47 pm

I've sat through 4 Springsteen concerts too. Harry probably has nothing good to say about that either. : D

5:47 pm

should i say that i saw Wang Chung in concert and they were great?

5:47 pm

not a big springsteen fan

5:47 pm

"Everybody have fun tonight... "

5:47 pm

wang chung!!!! I remember that song from the radio

5:47 pm

Everybody have fun tonight, everybody Wang Chung tonight.

5:48 pm

but I can see the springsteen fans making it a good show

5:48 pm

See Harry, I know your musical taste. I knew you weren't a Springsteen fan.

5:48 pm

they played in a college gym....cheap....and good bleacher seat...

5:48 pm

and clarence clemons was amazing

5:48 pm

How are you with Little Feat? I saw them 3 times.

5:48 pm

and that kerchief wearing guitarist

5:48 pm

he was ok too

5:48 pm

Little Steven

5:49 pm

ooh little feat! with lowell george?

he also acted in the sopranos

5:49 pm

or after he decided on better living through chemistry

5:49 pm

he was great in the sopranos

lowell george

5:50 pm

Both. And Little Steven was in The Christmas Chronicles. Clarence Clemmons was a sax God.

5:50 pm

I saw clarence clemons play with the grateful dead a few times

i saw springsteen three times. there are those who call heim a phony and a sellout, but i counter with, just listen to the early stuff. it's poety. he acutally played the philly folk festival when he started out.

5:51 pm

I saw little feat in the 80s, after lowell george. they were not so great.

5:51 pm

more power to you on the dead harry :D

5:51 pm

dead harry?

5:51 pm

I agree TO, his early stuff is poetry.

i have seen so many shows it's hard to remember which i liked bes. soemtimes the venue makes it memorable

5:52 pm

I like that song candy's room

steely dan, just before Becker died, was great.

5:53 pm

i love steely Dan

5:53 pm

walter becker is dead?

rodney crowell, fountains of wayne, and of course the who on their very first tour. nobody knew who they were.

5:53 pm

oh dear.

5:53 pm

Used to be a party thing back in the day. Me and two friends would have several beers and then do "Racing In The Streets"

oh yes. he spent most of the concert sitting on a speaker.

5:54 pm

I saw steely dan on this NY rock and soul revue tour. it was terrible

paul thorne. now that is a great entertainer and songwriter

5:54 pm

I love fountains of wayne.

5:55 pm

I've never seen a bad Aimee Mann show

truly you leave there feeling uplifted. he likes to say heis father was a preacher and his uncle was a pimp. true sotyr. great time.

5:55 pm

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - variable.

oh,and cracker. and Orleans before the lead died.

oh yes, bela is great.

5:57 pm

i saw bela in Montreal.. ...good show...

cracker is a lot of fun.

when they did take the skinheads bowling, the crowd went nuts.

5:57 pm

My big regret - I had a ticket to the Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking show in NJ and didn't go because of a physics test that night.

harry, i never heard of them.

5:58 pm

it was roger waters

5:59 pm

an album he did and a tour to promote it

oops time to check the dinner brb

the last david byrne tour was amazing. in '19

5:59 pm

love talking heads!

5:59 pm

i had a ticket to the Beatles NYC concert, but I could not go...i was in NY but attending a speech & debate camp and they wouldn't let me out...

6:00 pm

one of the few good thigs to come out of the 80s

6:00 pm

wow pen

6:00 pm

That must be a huge regret Pen

do you sitll have the ticket?

6:01 pm

HUGE....my cousin from CT had gotten the tickets...she went...couldn't hear any music, but it was an experience!

6:01 pm

no, don't have the ticket...

i'll bet!

6:02 pm

my cousin from Philly hid in the bathroom at a Four Seasons concert and got to meet the group...she was always a gutsy person....

6:03 pm

hah - that frankie valle quite the smooth talker

6:03 pm

A New Year's poem by Rae Armantrout: God is balancing his checkbook God is encrypting his account. This is taking forever!

6:04 pm

yes...cousin's father was a cop....he got her an Elvis autograph when he worked that concert...

6:04 pm

hi jane...

thank you,jane

6:05 pm

It's midnight somewhere, right? Maybe France?

i was candy striper at the hospital when bob gaudio's baby was born. friends went to school with him.

6:05 pm

I think God has a better attitude toward his people than that

6:05 pm

DONE

6:05 pm

phew

*tosses harry a hot towel and opens the bar*

6:06 pm

congrats, harry...

6:06 pm

there were some crazy words there

i kep seeing baleen.

6:07 pm

Hapy New Year TO. xx

6:31 pm

fireworks. Happy New Years everyone.

6:31 pm

i have started out with my new journey today. first time of adjusting stimulator. no difference so far. not worse anyway...

6:32 pm

WTG WHT !!!

grats, wht

rose i am not up on your health

6:35 pm

oh. i had a permanent nerve stimulator implanted 2 weeks ago. wire is at thoracic 12 nerve bundle. every two days i am to increase the strength of it. once the stimulator has control of my pain, i can start to drop down off my pain meds. i am very excited about it.

sound promising. i wish you good luck.

6:36 pm

thank-you TO. are you keeping well? and your family and friends?

6:36 pm

Hi Rose! I *so* hope this works out for you! *Hugs*

6:37 pm

{{{{{{{{kam}}}}}}} Happy New Year honey.

most are well. saw family outdoors for a bit on monday. all holidays at home alone this year.

6:38 pm

Happy New Year to all! May it be a much better year!

some are just...beyond help. every ting is a crisis, you know? people have different levels of coping skills.

ty kamanjah

6:38 pm

TO, we have an outbreak of the new strain here in my state. back to square one here. not in total lockdown again, yet.

6:39 pm

Hi Rose, good to hear you are doing well. Happy New Year to you and all the babblers. It will be surely better than 2020.

that is too bad.

6:40 pm

ikr? my bro told me in hushed tones that he is seeing a counsellor as he has had suicidal thoughts. i nearly, but didn't, laughed in his face. foe pete's sake. this man is over 50. it's no big tragedy. he's gone for help, now keep on going.

6:41 pm

hey Nancy. and Happy New Year to you too.

rose: this was my field of study and first career. there is a stigma still around mental health issues.

by my earlier comment, i meant those people who just run around with their hair on fire, all the time.sometimes hard to take if you are the opposite, it wears one down.

6:43 pm

I am blind to the AA words. Are they common ones?

6:43 pm

well there shouldn't be TO. so silly. it's like a broken toe, heart attack. go for help and treatment. it is nothing to be ashamed of. in fact, i think the ones who speak up and call it for what it is, are brave.

6:43 pm

Good Morning. Happy New Year.

yes. think the fighter from louisville

6:44 pm

aa words begin with 2 vowels and end with 2 vowels.

6:44 pm

jane, lots of vowels. in fact double vowel twice.

good morning, liz, ha[[y new year to you.

6:44 pm

I read an article about people (crews) who have been stuck on ships and are suicidal because of the isolation. Some are still not repatriated.

6:45 pm

Hey LIzgirl. Happy New Year to yourself and himself.

i thinkit's time to list, or i will be here all night. i want to read.

6:45 pm

Hope it's a safe and healthy year for everyone.

6:45 pm

Which state are you in rose?

amen, liz

6:45 pm

To you and himself, too, Rose :)

6:45 pm

Victoria jane. just across Bass Strait from Tasmania.

6:46 pm

Didn't you just get done with a horrendous lockdown

6:47 pm

apparently the tracing shows the people with it went to Sydney in New South Wales, and brought it back with them.

6:48 pm

yes Jane. we have been clear for nearly 2 months. just have to bite the bullet.

6:48 pm

Are entertainment, movies, restaurants, etc, completely shut down?

6:48 pm

I really hope you get it back that way soon Rose.

6:50 pm

Jane, those facilities are still operating but under very strict guidelines. i thank heaven for not being well enough to join in any celebrations last night. wearing the mask outside of our home is now second nature.

6:51 pm

Well, we are 4 hours to midnight here but we're not going anywhere.

6:51 pm

Everyone has become very complacent where we live - I find that quite worrying.

6:52 pm

ditto lizgirl. my friend from Point Vernon is still in Sydney where she went to celebrate christmas with one of her sons. she really doesn't want to do quarantine so is hoping she can ride this wave out.

6:52 pm

I live in Montana, where we have rebellious individualism. It's going to take a long time here. We're still in our first wave!

6:53 pm

We've had it so easy up here - sadly I know people who think Covid is no worse than flu. Makes me very angry.

6:53 pm

it's scary isn't lizgirl. the simple act of wearing a mask helps protect you and others.

6:53 pm

which state are you in Liz?

6:53 pm

We haven't had to wear masks here at all - except when I went for X-rays.

6:53 pm

Queensland

6:54 pm

2 and a half hour flight from Melbourne.

6:54 pm

*snort* until they have an episode of cv-19 nothing will change for them.

6:54 pm

Not that I'd fly anywhere right now.

6:54 pm

Eastern Aus, right?

6:54 pm

So right, Rose.

6:54 pm

I have never been there but am hoping to go to Perth in a few years.

6:54 pm

well done Jane. yes, Eastern seaboard.

6:54 pm

Yes North Eastern corner of Australia.

and an hour later, i finally got jolly;s clue? ty

6:55 pm

I'd like to visit more of Australia - think that's our most likely travel plan sometime in the next few years.

6:56 pm

same here lizgirl. can we set up a meeting point? the Alive? Darwin? Kalgoolie?

6:56 pm

I love staring at maps. It comes in handy when I meet someone. I usually can name a river in their country. That impresses folks!

6:57 pm

Cool :)

6:58 pm

ugh i did mean Alice... who keeps moving the keys i wonder?

6:59 pm

I was about to get my map out to look for Alice....

6:59 pm

I mean Alive.....

6:59 pm

Who knows when, Rose? We were going to go on the Ghan last year - from Adelaide to Darwin, via Alice and Kings Canyon. We'd still like to do that trip one day.

6:59 pm

i have to go lie down. upper back is starting to ache. The Alice is Alice Springs Jane.

7:00 pm

Phew! Finished the b's. They were a challenge.

7:00 pm

oh same here. but when we tried to book we found out it is fully booked for the next three years.

7:00 pm

Feel better soon Rose. HNY :)

7:00 pm

xx to you all. may see you at the flip. xx

7:01 pm

I've heard of Alice Springs. What should I see in the Perth, and extreme NorthWest corner of your huge country?

en6 pls?

7:02 pm

Don't have it yet, TO.

7:02 pm

sign up for the armed service

7:02 pm

I don't know much about Perth and that side of Aus - hope to get there one day.

7:02 pm

Thanks, for the en 6

I have en + grocery items

7:04 pm

I just googled what to see in W Australia - lots of suggestions.

ty

bars

break time . bbl maybe.

7:11 pm

Liz, did I read the chat right? People are not required to wear masks where you live?

7:12 pm

There've been no new cases of Covid in Queensland for over 100 days.

7:12 pm

Yes, that's right, Molly.

7:12 pm

That is encouraging, Liz

7:13 pm

bbl, putting the rice in

7:13 pm

Our premier instigated a hard lockdown of borders very quickly. I totally support that and if the new outbreaks in Victoria and New South Wales grow, I hope it happens again.

7:14 pm

I mean no new community transmission cases. There are some in quarantine.

7:16 pm

Fireworks - finally. A really tough grid for me.

7:18 pm

Any clues before I go?

7:20 pm

Have a good day / evening everyone and Happy New Year - stay safe and healthy x

7:24 pm

I guess I don't understand all the conflicting reports. I have read that even after hard lock downs, strict quarantines, whatever...people should still wear masks to prevent the spread of asymptomatic germs.

7:28 pm

The advice here is to wear a mask if you can't effectively socially distance - but there's no legal requirement. Because there's been no community transmission for so long, the likelihood of it circulating in the community, by non-symptomatic people, is low. However after the holiday season, where there have been a lot of visitors to the state, that may change.

7:30 pm

That's what happens when I leave the site up but leave the room. I come back and then reply to a comment!

9:32 pm

Evening all :)

11:00 pm
