does anyone else use A2Zwordfinder....and ask....WHY!!!!!

6:21 am

tough one. got nbs, but still missing 2 tiles. bye!

8:12 am

Rolin, what is wrong with A2Z?

8:17 am

Good morning, all. I use A2Z. It has been bonked for quite a few days.

8:23 am

Bleh. This grid sucks. BBL.

8:31 am

a2z changed their format and it sucks like morewords does

8:34 am

Oh my God, I just went to take a look. That format is AWFUL.

8:35 am

I have never had a problem with morewords.

8:35 am

not sure why these Techie geeks have to improve something that works just fine

8:35 am

morewords format to search is tedious

8:41 am

How is it tedious? You just type in al---- for an al6 and it gives you all possible words. And I mean you use the dashes.

8:41 am

hurshy is going to go nuts when she sees the grid

8:42 am

Oh my God, you are right. We are going to get many comments about the cat who she thinks is an angel.

8:42 am

but then you have to keep clicking on it to move the pages to the possible word

8:43 am

they are messing with moreworeds again?

8:44 am

Good morning, friends. Good to see you, ru.

8:44 am

I'm not sure what you mean, Ru. When I look at morewords it is a page with a box at the top. You type in your possible word, al---- and all the possibilities populate below the box where you typed. You don't have to click on anything.

8:44 am

good morning bea

8:45 am

if you go by word length molly it's tedious

8:46 am

hi bzz.. any rain yet?

8:46 am

Yes, we are having rain today.

8:46 am

The number of dashes determines the word length. I don't see the problem, Ru.

8:46 am

i dont think we have had any today so far

8:46 am

Thank you Sam. I have never found morewords tedious.

8:47 am

i think its going ot start around 11 or so?

8:48 am

It depends on how specific, you can get with the word you are looking for in MM. Sometimes you have to go to the next page.

8:48 am

The only tedious part is when you click to empty the box, you have to click again in the box to enter a word. It never used to be that way.

8:49 am

I only use morewords when I'm really desperate

8:49 am

OK, Bea, if your search is too vague, you get too many choices. That's when I begin adding the possible third vowels one at a time to get a shorter list.

8:50 am

Me too, Ru. But I'm often desperate near the end of a grid.

8:50 am

I only have to click once in the box. I wonder if these differences are browser specific.

8:50 am

Might be, Molly. I use Brave, and it messes up a lot of sites.

8:51 am

That's funny, I don't even know what Brave is.

8:52 am

i love morewords

8:54 am

Whre would I be without it?

8:54 am

though their was a time when i went to it and it had videos playing on the site

I never liked morewords. haven't seen tthe new a2z.

8:56 am

how do you find it carla?

8:56 am

hi hokie i have never used that site

oh, a2z is unusable now. just checked it out.

8:57 am

It's listed under the resources tab at the top of the page.

8:57 am

can anyone give me stats for single L pls?

I think it's the same single L we had yesterday or the day before.

no.. i like to keep puddy hokie on

9:19 am

I think it'd be "hammily" anyway.

9:20 am

a hamily is a mommy and daddy and baby pig

9:20 am

lion

9:21 am

dararhghh!!!

9:21 am

sorry

9:21 am

One pig happy hamily.

9:22 am

lol

9:22 am

I'm thinking ham and bean soup for dinner.

9:22 am

except daddy pig rides a chop-per

9:22 am

I thought he rode a Hog

9:23 am

I'm thinking soup tonight too bea

9:24 am

We had Italian last night for dinner. We might have bangers and mash tonight.

9:24 am

what's bangers?

9:24 am

coin

9:24 am

sausage

9:24 am

you are on a roll dauber

9:25 am

Okay, seriously, I'm having a bad week and part of that bad week is PUTTING MY FINDINGS IN THE CHAT BOX INSTEAD OF THE "Add Word:" FIELD!!!!!!!

9:25 am

Ru, have you had your second vaccine yet?

9:25 am

i get it Friday afternoon.. have an appt this time

9:26 am

I got my first on Sunday.

9:26 am

oh great.. that's fantastic bea

9:26 am

did your arm hurt? Mine did

9:27 am

mi7 clue pls?

9:27 am

one in a mi7 mlf

9:27 am

I am so amused by people being EXCITED about getting shots. : D

9:27 am

like me :D

9:28 am

Geno Auriemma, coach of the Uconn women's bbal team tested positive righ after his second shot. But, he is asymptomatic

9:28 am

i'll be happy to have it done with believe me molly

9:28 am

ty

9:28 am

My son sent me a picture of him and his vaccination card after he got his yesterday. Boy knows how to party right? A shot on St. Patrick's Day.

9:28 am

And not the shot of liquor kind of shot.

9:28 am

Yes, my arm hurt. I was also really fatigued.

9:29 am

I had a shot on St. Patrick's Day, too.

9:29 am

but not THAT kind of shot.

9:29 am

is the u word a un?

9:29 am

I wasn't fatigued but my arm felt like I was hit with a baseball bat

9:29 am

U's are al un

9:29 am

all of them are un mlf

9:29 am

thanks ruru

9:30 am

I heard the Moderna gives much more of a side effect than Phizer

9:30 am

<---Waiting for the one shot Johnson & Johnson

9:30 am

I'm not sure the fatigue was from the jab or from just the crazy week/end and time change.

9:31 am

They are giving J&J at Wlagreens

9:31 am

did you read about the Catholic Church and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine?

9:31 am

Walgreens

9:31 am

I wonder if WLmart has it too bea :D

9:31 am

ruru all i know is its only one shot

9:31 am

I saw something about it. They say its from aborted fetuses

9:32 am

yeah.. they're discouraging Catholics from taking the vaccine .. how dumb is that

I did read that but then they backtracked and said it's okay if that's all that's available but then some priests are telling their congregattions ot not get it still.

9:33 am

Hey, whaddaya expect from my birth church? It took until the '90s before the admitted that Galileo was right all along.

9:33 am

people are nuts

9:33 am

Isn't it made from stem cells? Wish people would get that straight.

supposedly there are cloned stem cells from 2 fetuses from 1973 and 1985 that they use also in rabies, MMR, etc vaccine.

9:33 am

they also took a big step backwards on Gay Catholics sadly

9:34 am

Well, if people are strongly anti-abortion, and they have the option of another vaccine, they should be aware of what the Johnson & Johnson one is made from.

9:34 am

I loved their stand on gays and marriage, but they will welcome them into the church with sensitivity.

9:34 am

what?

I guess htey are for rabies too, which is 100% fatal

9:35 am

uzimama

9:35 am

DAMMIT!!

9:35 am

LOL! I love that word!

9:36 am

Not to be confused with a baby mama

9:36 am

um bea... the pope said yesterday that being gay is a sin.. that's not going to go over well with certain practioners

9:37 am

practitioners

9:37 am

as a recovering Italian catholic, it pains me that anyone still listens to that nonsense

9:37 am

Yes, but they will welcome them in with sensitivity. And I was being facetious whe I said I loved it.

9:38 am

I could have sworn that earlier in Francis's papacy he said "Who am I to judge?" when asked about gays...

9:38 am

Mr. Bea is a recovering Southern Baptist.

9:38 am

he did say that.. .which is why his comments are really odd yesterday

9:39 am

Mr. B is a lapsed Lutheran

9:39 am

I don't know what I am. On paper I'm Catholic. My wife once said, when the priest who officiated our marriage asked if she's a practicing Catholic, "I practice; I'm just not very good at it." I'm definitely not an atheist, but I seldom set foot into a place of worship.

well, the united methodist church is completely splitting

9:39 am

I am a non practicing Jew

9:40 am

In reality, I just cannot accept much of what the Catholic church stands for.

9:40 am

It is just so sad to me that this pope isn't as progressive as we all hoped and that Women would be allowed to be a pastor, and that gay people deserve equal treatment in the church..

9:40 am

if anyone is interested in some spiritual food for thought that moves away from all that and is progressive, you might check out a podcast called The Heretic Happy Hour. i like it very much.

what I don't get is there are so many "sins", why do they focus on that

9:41 am

I'm an atheist so I shouldn't even comment

9:41 am

The Catholic parish my wife and I belonged to years ago was very progressive. In fact, our pastor was hated by most priests in the diocese because he...*gasp!*...welcomed gays with open arms. Even during midnight mass one Christmas during his homily he mentioned how there are people who say, "Well, God didn't make them that way!" "Well, then...who *did*?" he said.

I mean there are all kinds of adulterers but they are allowed

does anyone want to guess my last C?

9:43 am

(looks at the can of worms that hokie opened)

9:43 am

I havent even made it to the C yet.

9:43 am

i finished a long time ago :D

9:43 am

(smug)

lol, you sure are ;)

9:45 am

cans of religious worms are the worst :)

9:45 am

Technically, adultery is cause for ex-communication

9:46 am

*Notices no takers on the guessing game

I know, smug ru knows the answer but won't guess!

9:46 am

the way i see the Catholic stance on marriage now, the way i can't help seeing it, is that they took what is merely a basic biological drive common to all life (procreation) and turned it into a moral and spiritual good/imperative, such that now that we've got contraceptives, which helpfully prevent unwanted children despite that biological drive, they think they are a bad thing. it strikes me as ir6.

9:47 am

Most religions consider marriage a spiritual union as well as a physical one.

9:48 am

yeah.. someone had to condom the practice hurshy

9:48 am

yes, but the RC church rates procreation as a higher purpose of marriage than the spiritual union

and how did I open the can? someone else (ru?) started it with hte J&J vax statement.

9:48 am

you brought up pedophilia hokie

what? I never said anything about pedos.

9:49 am

oh dear

I said other sins like adultery

9:49 am

or at least adulterers sorry

9:49 am

that's, um... a far cry

9:49 am

thought you were talking about the priests who preyed on children which is rampant in the church

and FTR, I believe people are born homosexual therefore not a sin

9:50 am

agreed

9:50 am

I was born not homosexual, but with this horrible mental problem that makes me type my answers in the Chatterbox instead of the answer field.

9:51 am

making you a typosexual dauber

LOL

9:51 am

dauber, it's not your fault. years ago there was a button you had to click to Enter Chat after you typed it, and this hardly ever happened. but after Dr God revamped the site, we no longer had said button, and it became a rampant sin...

9:51 am

most typosexuals are a bit keyed up

9:52 am

I am not defending the Catholic church, but I think the statement that they place a higher value on procreation than on a spiritual union is not exactly correct.

9:52 am

many of us requested the return of such a button, to no avail. "people will get used to it" he said. ha.

9:52 am

perhaps i've gotten the wrong impression, Molly

9:53 am

His response when I emailed him about what happens when you try to enter "spam" was..."interesting". Whatever.

don't they believe the only reason for sex is to procreate? that's why against contraceptives.

9:53 am

No

9:53 am

I think the official word on the RC church is no *unnatural* contraceptives, which would rule out condoms, pills, IUDs, etc.

why isn't unoily a word??

9:54 am

because you can just say, dry

9:54 am

lol

9:54 am

Used to be the rhythm method was the officially recommend way, but now they recommend the "sympto-thermic method," which apparently is pretty scientifically reliable.

9:54 am

what's a natural contraceptive?

9:54 am

And hokie -- if you haven't already, try a variation on that word. :)

mr. homie grew up catholic, so everything I know I learned from him

9:54 am

rhythm method

9:55 am

oh jeezus

9:55 am

Oh, wait -- hokie, sorry about that, I was thinking of a different word.

was typing out unoil doesn't work either ;)

9:55 am

Just LOOKS like it.

9:56 am

The adj form of that word gets me.

9:56 am

I did really want to like this pope, but he's not coming through as I see it

are the E's EN? cannot find.

9:56 am

they are en's

9:56 am

Yes, en

9:57 am

I don't see the need to clutter up the chat with Catholic doctrine, but I would do a little research on that "Catholics think sex is only for procreation" claim

got one!

got the other!

9:57 am

Let me rephrase my earlier claim (really, it's way too early in the morning to do anything -- if it's before 2:00, I can't function)....

9:57 am

The Catholic church's stance is that contraception that involves a drug or a device is not officially approved.

9:58 am

so dumb

mr. homie's mom gave us a copy of the catechism years ago. maybe I should read it. :D

9:59 am

That is different than saying Catholics think sex is only for procreation

9:59 am

so many countries having tons of children they cannot feed and care for

10:00 am

Yes, but that overpopulation of third-world countries has little to do with Catholocism..

10:00 am

it actually has more than a little to do with catholicism

10:00 am

oh it has plenty to do with Catholics in SOuth america and Mexico

10:00 am

Hi all. Any clues for the 7s? Ty. Dont have any

10:00 am

Which is why you have "Vatican roulette" (that is, the rhythm method) and the newer, more reliable "sympto-thermic method," in which the woman takes her basal body temperature every day, and you jot down any new symptoms. And the temperature changes and symptom changes should indicate when would be a good time for either conceiving or not conceiving.

10:01 am

We lived across the street from the Catholic church in my home town. Our street was filled with parked cars. My youngest put a sign out at the curb that said you could park here if you used birth contral.

10:01 am

I've heard from people who swear by the sympto-thermic method on both sides: good for conceiving, good for contraception. Personally, I think it's good for contraception because by the time you take the temperature and write everything down, you're probably no longer in the mood.

10:01 am

Cute

10:02 am

Cute bea.

10:02 am

mkg - try un7/36 for noe

10:02 am

*one

10:02 am

I guess mylar is a proper?

10:02 am

I didn't think so. I was horrified!

10:02 am

yes, as is conrail :)

10:02 am

I also found a mi7/32

10:03 am

guess un7 is my missing u

10:03 am

give the kid credit bea :D

10:03 am

Need a clue please.

10:03 am

even if he spelled control wrong :D

10:04 am

I WISH I could give a clue; the un7 is a weird word that I've never seen before.

10:04 am

basal body temperature tracking is actually a great way to avoid getting pregnant (or actually get pregnant), it's just a hassle

10:04 am

That might have been me typing...=)

10:04 am

I guess I could say it's one of the un4s with a suffix.

10:04 am

She was a handful, that is for sure.

10:05 am

trying to figure out how the points could total that

10:05 am

Go for the mi7, mkg.

10:05 am

oh a she.. that's even funnier

10:05 am

I'm all for testing basal body temperature physically :D

10:06 am

true, nothing as sexy as sticking a thermometer under your tongue at 6 am until it beeps, ruru

10:06 am

I'm finding this grid tedious.

10:07 am

the fact that you have to do it as soon as you wake up is the annoying part

10:07 am

not what I had in mind mael

10:07 am

I thought it was morewords that was tedious. : D

10:07 am

looked up the un7. weird

10:07 am

I figured ;)

10:07 am

lol

10:07 am

You have to do it as soon as you wake up, but BEFORE you actually move.

10:07 am

yep

10:08 am

mkg, the un7 is like what men pee in but replace a letter with 2 letters

10:08 am

unthebushes

10:08 am

So unckets next to the bed?

10:08 am

good point

10:08 am

unstandingup

10:08 am

Like she will get that clue...

10:09 am

untoradebottleinthecar?

10:09 am

they don't pee in a standing up, mael!

10:09 am

Hmmm???????

10:09 am

true, they miss

10:09 am

ah, that un word has to do with teeth.

10:10 am

yes, men pee everywhere and anywhere they want. I'm referring to the legit thing in a bathroom

10:10 am

It actually has to do with a hooked shape

10:10 am

thanks, seain, no def. in dictionary of course.

10:10 am

or thanks molly. I don't know who to believe!

10:10 am

Finally cleared the A's

10:11 am

geez, I sill need 6 A's up top

10:12 am

Thank you for not saying "A's annihilated!" Bea

10:13 am

I never say that.

10:13 am

heh. I have one A cleared. 18 more to go.

10:13 am

need 4 a's now to annihilate them ;)

10:14 am

Our poor dog, Emma. She isn't allowed on the furniture while she is recovering. She has to use the dog bed and she hates it!

10:15 am

nice name for a dog

10:15 am

I bought Winston a dog bed years ago and it sat in our living room for years. I got rid of it last year because he never once got on it.

10:16 am

My dog uses his

10:16 am

That's was her name when we got her from rescue.

10:16 am

cats always use them

10:17 am

this grid is tedious. still 25 left.

10:18 am

hurshy still here?

10:18 am

I've got two H and one N left.

10:18 am

I have finished the H but have one N

10:20 am

Scots in the H...

10:21 am

And grandma in the N

10:21 am

hmm, not my missing N

10:22 am

un 7/36, pls

10:22 am

I'm off to do more tedious things. =)

10:22 am

bye bea!

10:22 am

bichon, I did a clue at 10:08 that may or may not work

10:22 am

i should run off too.. thanks for the laughs and religious discussion

10:23 am

bye ru!

10:23 am

Bea blurted her way on out of here

10:24 am

didn't do me any good though

10:25 am

Now now Carla, it's not all about you

10:25 am

carla, didn't understand the clue, sorry

10:26 am

un + first three of a spice you put in apple pie + Mr Gore

10:26 am

nm, but ty all

10:50 am

hello all...

10:50 am

hey pen

10:54 am

this is the kind of grid that i don't like...

10:54 am

yeah, it's not my fave either

10:55 am

has been a slow go from the start

10:55 am

it's a plodder....a slow plodder...

10:55 am

yep

10:59 am

I'm pretty sure that the whole 115 words thing is a hoax. ;-)

10:59 am

you may be onto something

10:59 am

LOL...

11:01 am

yeah, this grid is brutal. I have a single 6 letter word, wth

11:01 am

that's one more than I have!

11:01 am

I have found 7 somehow, but about to finish my 4's which leaves me with big words.

11:04 am

oh, i found two more. It is slow going

11:08 am

phantom militia

11:08 am

mine, too...

11:10 am

stuck with 12 left. guess I will eat lunch.

11:10 am

36 to go here...

11:11 am

11:13 am

11:13 am

11:13 am

11:13 am

11:26 am

6/24...

11:29 am

not oilmap

11:31 am

nope...it's an adverb...

11:32 am

thought I had tried that. thx

11:33 am

yw...

11:36 am

well I need a break....bbl to find my last 21....bye all...

11:42 am

bye!

11:47 am

good morning everyone :)

11:48 am

hi nan

11:48 am

howdy nan

11:49 am

hi all

11:49 am

got our appointments for the vaccine -- yay

11:49 am

nice

11:51 am

good to know that in one more month our lives will be more normalized -- suitably distanced and masked, of course :)

12:04 pm

maybe a light at the end of the tunnel

12:06 pm

if everyone would just take the vaccine offered, it would indeed signal the end I think. Unfortunately preserving everyones' "freedom" threatens us all

12:07 pm

I think this should be treated the same way polio was in the 50's -- the only exemption from getting the vaccine is a valid medical reason supported by your doctor.

12:09 pm

in the words of the Wicked Witch (movie version): "What a world, what a world!"

12:11 pm

when we would say "it's a free country!" as kids, my dad would always say, your freedoms end where another's begins. I think that has gotten lost today.

12:12 pm

that is so true, carla - both the sentiment and the fact that we have lost it

12:13 pm

hello all. what a mean grid. help with any 7 please

12:14 pm

one in a mi7 chance I finish this sans list

12:14 pm

haha

12:14 pm

al 7 -- make ET a french female

12:14 pm

ah ty carla

12:15 pm

ah, didn't have the a7

12:15 pm

*then change last 2 letters in that al 7 to either's partner

12:15 pm

ty nan

12:16 pm

thx, nan, that was my last 7

12:16 pm

ty again nan

12:16 pm

yw carla and peri

12:20 pm

well, I better go walk Winston before the big storms come through. BBL for last 8.

12:30 pm

ri 6 please?

12:35 pm

Italian word. Exchange or mart.

12:36 pm

*!*~*!* ty zoom

12:52 pm

so many brand names! zima, mylar, zune

12:53 pm

love the ET clue, nan.

12:54 pm

I agree w/ you about the vaccine too. It's unbelievable to me that people are refusing it, and also refusing to wear masks. They want the "freedom" to kill other people.

1:01 pm

have you seen the march break parties on the beaches? And these people are supposedly bright enough to be attending university? God help us all.

1:02 pm

is there a clue for the last mi5 please/

1:03 pm

I have, Nan. Unbelievable.

1:05 pm

got it

1:06 pm

good - was just trying to think of a clue

1:06 pm

thanks. i see why that would be hard.

1:08 pm

I know it has something to do with sailing-- mi5 mast, but that's about it

1:12 pm

at least our Canadian students won't be going south for March Break -- they would have to provide a negative covid test result from no more than 2 days before their return, then isolate for 2 weeks in a government sanctioned hotel at their own expense before they could return to home or school.

1:12 pm

Drunk driving is a crime even if you don't get into an accident because the drunk driver is imposing a risk on others. Not wearing a mask should be, too.

1:15 pm

It is in some places here, jan -- $350 fine

1:16 pm

good point jan

1:19 pm

any more clues wanted before I leave?

1:19 pm

ty for the al7

1:20 pm

z5?

1:20 pm

al7 is an ET version of The Beatles Ms. Rigby. But Nan never would have gotten that clue. : D

1:20 pm

there are two of them mlf -- note the 2nd clue

1:20 pm

found it

1:21 pm

got that al word

1:22 pm

you are right -- don't see what Eleanor Rigby has to do with al 7

1:22 pm

the pronunciation of the word

1:23 pm

still looks more like a frenchified ET to me

1:24 pm

oh I see -- MOlly was referring to the other al 7

1:24 pm

well i dont know what the other al7 is

1:24 pm

i didnt have either

1:25 pm

ok - on my way - hagd everyone

1:33 pm

The two al7s have the same root.

I'm back. Keep seeing chimpanzee even though it's not even close.

1:56 pm

FW! Anyone need a clue before I go?

1:57 pm

either of th e E words please

they are related. then en6 is like a place (CA?) with different vowel.

1:59 pm

ty got the en6

I believe Pauly Shore was a thawed out caveman in a movie called EN-O Man

2:00 pm

Now make it adjectival.

oh, it's a live oak. did not know that.

2:00 pm

the EN words both sound like a city near Los Angeles

2:01 pm

ty got them both

2:01 pm

And the clues just go on and on and on. Someone say California again. : D

no comment on my Pauly Shore clue?

2:03 pm

What? About how you enjoy all the deep and thought-provoking films?

I actually never saw that one, just remember it

haha, according to wikipedia, it's known as California Man in other countries.

2:06 pm

Oh great. That will just add to all the snide, anti-American sentiments out there.

I just wanted to comply with your request for someone to say California again

2:07 pm

Well, you know the en6/7 are like a city in California.

I might've heard that.

and still no one has guessed my last C

2:08 pm

And you haven't gotten the hint yet?

NTPN! brand of countertop

2:09 pm

Corian

well well well, found the last C

and ding ding ding

you win an all expenses paid trip to MD

2:11 pm

Gasp! Just where I've always wanted to go!

2:13 pm

aaaaaand....fw. This was a wild one!

well done. still 7 to go here.

not sure they exist

6!

5. didn't even notice that one took. :D

2:36 pm

just starting...

moo! not my favorite grid.

2:37 pm

ah, well 32 down...83 to go

2:38 pm

not sure how much time I have...has been a wekk

you probably won't need much

2:39 pm

that would be preferable

I have (upper) i, Lx2, and Mx2 - 1x4, 3x5, 1x6

2:39 pm

66 to go

but I am doing crafty things in the meantime of not seeing these last few

2:40 pm

nice

2:41 pm

I'm working in between words

nice

2:43 pm

50 to go...got two of the 7s so far...but just 3 of the 6s

I got help with a couple of the 7s

2:46 pm

En6 please?

2:47 pm

California here I come

2:48 pm

Tx!!

what'd I say it is, a live oak tree?

I love those draped in spanish moss in the south

2:50 pm

used to have live oaks in my yard in Miami...loved those trees

2:50 pm

then the power utility came and hacked one of them, because in Miami you still have a lot of above ground power

there's a great county park in Charleston that we took our motorhome to once. had to drive super slow because the live oak branches kept hitting the ACs

lightening up out there now and the rain slacked up, so less exciting

3:30 pm

3:30 pm

got the m with the m5 with the high scoring tile or the 6 for that matter with the high tile?

yes, I actually got that early on surprisingly (cat sound)

3:31 pm

actually the m6 is defined as surroundings, though I guess I'm not sure I've seen it in that usage

3:32 pm

oh, they mean surroundings with respect to culture or social...so I guess in that sense, yes

hte only m6 I have is the one with the high point

3:32 pm

yeah, three's another

3:32 pm

3:48 pm

I used to be crazy for all things mint.

so my missing 4 is either upper i or L

3:49 pm

I guess it' slike the kids smoking the menthol cigarettes. for me it's cookies and ice cream.

I used to think mint chocolate chip ice cream was gross, but have become addicted in the last couple of years.

3:52 pm

cornally: how plates of nachos behave when they're amorous

3:57 pm
