the funny thing is my parents never went to church and yet they sent me to Sunday school like it would be a better influence on me. I never understood that
when I told my father, who was an atheist, that nothing about it made any sense to me he just explained to me that the whole thing made sense if you read the bible as an allegory, like zeus and thunderbolts. Which, yeah.

I mean, it kills horses too but it's people that are the problem. It's a virus birds carry, which then get bitten by mosquitoes and passed on to horses and people
last big outbreak was 2019 and it was terrifying, they canceled all school events in the afternoon, kids weren't allowed outside, we had community curfews at dusk

yeah, it's still rare, don't get me wrong, but a little girl my daughter's age from the next town over was left permanently disabled the week she started Kindergarten. It was a sad fall, with everyone hoping for a hard frost sooner rather than later. All parents waiting for the 10 days between a mosquito bite and the potential emergence of symptoms...
