not the easiest grid here
no, it is rather challenging. I've found 38 while also watching videos and chatting on discord.
and good morning, rush, nice to see you.
oh, autocorrect. ursh, not rush
broth spellings of the Arab currency unit.
haha dcs I am not in a hurry :)

phantom: riddle
fireflies. Very nice one. *hugs* and *poof*
hello all
tried to change my icon to a pic of our new house. I see it on my account page but not in the chog.
I see it
ok, great. thanks peri
very nice house
I'm really excited, and can't wait until we can move in!
wow, first pass only got 59 words. that's not great.
morning
hi kiani
Nice house
thanks molly
well, just started. seems like one of "those" grids.
8 left. all As.
nice. still 81 here
good luck with your move!
thank you
well, 55 left and did not get HOET but I'm off to play tennis. TTFN.
fireworks. had to list for the majority of the words.
time to pack more boxes. you all have fun!
i think we've had that ocean snake 3 days in a row now
There has been an over abundance of e's this week
I'm still trying to get over the cl7 and 8 🙄
eely
oops sorry
hah
I have a cl8 but not a 7, is it related?
yes.. strange word the 8 is a plural
hmm so there's another cl8
yup two
and a cr8
c's are tough today for me
got em all now though
nice, I'm still missing 7
I keep trying to make something like claddagh happen and it's not working, lol
... wow, I just threw a mix of letters in that would get me a plural option and... there's the 7 and 8. Never seen that one before.
Enable should hang it's head in shame, it doesn't take Claddagh
is that like a ring isn't it?
Yes, it also means shore in Gaelic
some people were speaking gaelic on our trip.. it's an interesting language..
Very hard to learn and it is the language of my people. But it doesn't come naturally to me.
Fluent speaker here. It was a compulsory subject when I was going to school.
Is gaelic in prod
sorry
it's kind of a musical language the way it flows..
Is Gaelic in Ireland as it is in Scotland?
we had an Irish Taxi Driver on ISlay and she spoke gaelic. she was really fun and full of energy. I could have spoken with her for hours and hours
I think the Scot and Irish versions are different
It’s similar, but different! Even in Ireland, there are many different dialects of Irish Gaelic. The Northern Irish dialect is very harsh & guttural, whilst the southern version is much softer.
She drove like a mad woman :D
ha..
you said I drove like a mad woman too
<--- mumbles under her breath
I have to say the people in Scotland (Scots and Irish) were just wonderful, warm, friendly, helpful, and engaging.
Ha, Origami. I’d love to hear what you’re saying 🤣 And Ru, that’s nice to hear.
well.. I drove safely for 913 miles in Scotland and no one died.. so there's that
on the right side of the car and the wrong side of the road on super narrow roads, and a fucking million roundabouts
Those roundabouts were awful
THey were nearly the death of me that's for sure.
what's a roundabout
a big circle with multiple entry points that traffic moves through without a stop sign
'morning, folks - i thought we'd run out of gas for all the times we circled the roundabout in England. we were hoping someone would drive by and offer a sandwich, we'd been in it so long
dc has alot of them, there's where i learned to navigate
we have a lot of them here in alberta, too - some call them roundabouts, some traffic circles
scotland has tons and tons of them often in places for no reason whatsoever
also rotary
ori's just complaining because her head kept hitting the window
was originally used to slow traffic ... it's just confusing, , i had my first accident when a car blew a stop light in the circle and broadsided me
I think the effects of the concussion are wearing off
that was from the curb in New York City :D
oh no - ori, did you fall in NYC?
she was doing a simon biles impersonation in the street
If you want to see the scariest roundabout in the world, Google The Magic Roundabout Swindon. I have to navigate it each time I visit my daughter in Swindon. It’s terrifying.
I did - not my most graceful momet
*moment
never a dull moment with youse guys
no kidding
whom ever designed The Magic Roundabout Swindon musta been on drugs
soodle, that's insane! we can't seem to educate folks how to navigate a ONE roundabout - but seven? (ori would have to wrap her head in bubble wrap!)
or a career civil servant leaving their post in a city they disliked ...
oh my god there isn't enough xanax in the world to get through that thing
Encasing my body in bubble wrap sounds like a good idea
there's gotta be a alternate route around that thing
I just close my eyes & drive & hope for the best. Then I have nightmares for 3 nights afterwards.
Lots of LSD involved in the design of that thing
I would never drive through that thing
I wouldn't know how to drive through that thing.
hmmm according to wiki, The Magic Roundabout. In 2009, was voted the fourth-scariest junction in Britain. which rather begs the question
Hanger Lane gyratory is supposed to be the scariest -- i won't be driving in the UK anyway, other side of the road and all
These are the scariest road junctions overall according to British drivers: 1. Hanger Lane Gyratory System, west London 2. Spaghetti Junction, Birmingham 3. Marble Arch, central London 4. Elephant and Castle, south London 5. South Mimms, A1/M25, Hertfordshire 6. M4/M5 interchange, Bristol 7. Magic Roundabout, Swindon, Wiltshire 8. M8 junctions through central Glasgow 9. Mancunian Way junctions, Manchester 10. Sheriffhall Roundabout, Edinburgh
you couldn't pay me enough to drive through any of those...especially driving on the left side of the road!
it's really a challenge.. as your brain is wired for the other side of the road. The scariest thing to me was going around curves and cars coming at me looking like head on.. I couldn't get adjusted to it and jumped everytime it happened.
i can totally understand that...
i grew up in hong kong, I still look to the right first then left when I cross the street
or is it the other way around?
you're making my head spin,,,
exorcise me
There is someone in my neighborhood with a European car and the steering wheel is on the "wrong side". It freaks me out every time I see him drive by.
*Throws Holy Water at Shirl
*gives Shirl my blessing*....
(hands molly the bed restraints for Shirl)
*Makes the sign of the cross
why me? Pen is one who's head is spinning
I can still do that in Latin
You asked for the exocism
*Exorcism
i thought that aussie animal was a phantom and then it wasn't
I know I couldn't bear the phantom either on that one
it was a kodiak moment when I saw it worked
Y'all try to cub your enthusiasm
you're just pandaing to the crowds molly
i'm in p-ursine of the lone E in the right column, can someone give me the stats pls?

No need to be so grizzly Ru
this conversation is getting rather teddy
don't be steiff, ru, or you'll polarize us. and thx pen!
There is no need to bruin the moment
this is kind of a kodiak moment really
Repeat
ooops. ok I quit
sorry
hangs head in shame
i was clawing for one more pun
omg...the pun Yogi made a Booboo.... ;o)
We could have morphed into puns involving the show if you were watching it
maybe I'm bi-polar (bear?)
No, just fozzie
i have hit a wall....taking a break....bye all....

hi christa...
Hi Hurshy
ah hurshy, you will never be lonely here
Hi Hurshy, I'm glad you came on here today. It's what I do too on days I feel the same. Sending you a virtual hug.
thanks, saanich
thanks ch1212
almost always someone around here...it was nice during the pandemic to know that...
especially such nice people here, so many
It was. I remember when my brother died a few years back, I felt numb and I didn't want to talk to anyone but I also didn't want to be alone, so I came on here. Just felt better.
same here...
*hugs* to you ch1212
And right back at you.
this site is always reliable for friendly talk, I just dropped in to see what was up and here you are hurshy!
and now dropping back out, see you all tomorrow!
wow ch1212 i just went to your book website
you look like Sela Ward!
more importantly your book sounds amazing
What?! Okay, where do I send the check? lolol. Thanks.
I hope it reaches people who need some hope and light.
i hope so too
I took the photo a few months ago. Not bad for someone who is turning 69 next month. I thank my mom's genetics. I've never been the girly kind of person, and still don't wear makeup unless I have to.
there is one kid i chatted with online who i haven't heard from in a long time now and i'm so worried about, he aged out of foster care and went into a homeless shelter. last i heard he had landed a job at target or someplace but he'd just been through so much and i just hate that there isn't more of a social safety net
when i think of people who need hope and light he springs to mind
kids aging out of the system is one of the huge gaps in our social service network. Particularly if they are single and male. Teen moms have a much wider network of resources. My adopted cousin was in the foster system for some years before he came to our family, and he still has unaddressed trauma from that time.
yeah. :( i mean the reasons he was put IN foster care in the first place were traumatic enough, then he picked up more trauma there...
i agree. For a country that claims to value children, we have a horrific history of abusive treatment. In one chapter of my book I wrote about the history of child abuse, from early Greek and Roman times through to the first U.S. legal act passed to protect kids -- in 1971. We have so far to go.
ooh! daughter calling on caller id. bbl.
i have an adopted cousin also, but she has kind of withdrawn from the family. my aunt & uncle who adopted her later got divorced, during her teens, so i think that was rough.
And I'm back. Daughter likes to call when she is between meetings or travelling from one place to another. hurshy, i understand. Divorce can be life changing for some kids, in a negative way.
my sister calls my mom at those times also haha
i tried to get her to stop calling while driving because mythbusters showed that even hands-free phone use is the equivalent of driving drunk, but she wouldn't listen to me
YES! THANK YOU. I have told my intelligent daughter that same thing. Her response is the same as your sister.
i've heard that for certain people with certain traumas, mindfulness meditation can actually be really bad for them - i'm curious if you have utilized that or tried it and found it not good or what
Yes, I practice breath work and meditation, but I wasn't able to settle into it until years into my recovery. Like many people who have buried trauma, I had developed maladaptive coping skills that created intense internal pressure/pain to stop me from looking too deep within. Today, I enjoy my own guided imagery and quietness within my mind. There are so many avenues to assist people's processes, and I say if one is counterproductive for you, let it go.
yes, it is funny how everyone is different
i remember one patient on House who had some weird genetic mutation such that the recommendation for her was to like, eat more things that for most of us would be UNhealthy to eat more of, like cake!
Hey Hursh. Sorry you are going through a hard time right now. Please be assured of my very best wishes.
and also the same in our primal response. I researched several assessment tools to screen someone for trauma, and I was startled to learn that whether it's ACES, the DSM-V, the 12-step assessments, the standard marks a doctor or teacher looks for, they ALL name the same identifiers. Not everyone has every symptom, but it's remarkable how our brains respond to trauma. Okay... feel like I'm talking too much. Hi Soodle!
thank you soodle. i just tend to be really hard on myself for mistakes and forgettings and so forth.
well, i mean, we are the same species, so that makes sense, ch1212 (you're not talking too much)
Soodle, I know we've talked about this before, but I love the fact you live in Meath County, where several of my ancestors came from.
don't they say it the other way round in Ireland
I had my DNA tested, and was surprised to learn I'm 99.2% Irish-Scots, specifically from 2 small regions in Scotland and 1 in Ireland. Incredible that my ancestors landed between 1630 - 1790, and yet they continued to marry only other people from those 3 areas, from then until now. I broke that streak with my daughter - hahah!
County Meath
I was out socially recently & one person said that they had just bought a new chest deep-freeze unit. I replied that I had one of those, but I had completely forgotten what lay underneath the top layer of frozen goods in my freezer. The conversation changed to people having therapy. I (probably too honestly) remarked that I regarded therapy as I regarded the contents of my freezer. Happy to deal with what I can see - but very reluctant to delve any deeper!
wow that is interesting - so what other ethnicity or ethnicities did your daughter get from her father, ch1212?
that is a funny metaphor soodle
LOLOL! Soodle, I love your honesty! Hurshy, my daughter is half French-German-English on her father's side.
It's been wonderful chatting today, and I regretfully need to let go the rest of this grid and get dinner started. hugs all around!
ttfn ch1212
Lovely chatting with you Ch 1212. And you too Hursh! It always gladdens this old heart of mine to see you flying the Irish flag.
:)
glad you like it
the cutest animal that's almost certainly going extinct is in the grid
Heading for 1.00 am here. Need to get to bed. I have an old school friend, whom I have only met at our parents’ funerals over the past 15 years, coming down here for a sleepover tomorrow night. Imagine! 2 sixty-something year olds getting together for a sleepover.Seepovers weren’t a thing back in the last century. Wine is being chilled as I type. 😊
‘Sleepover’. Not seepover. 🤪
that is great you're having the sleepover :)
my mum made beautiful ec6.21s - a lovely memory
i made them once. they were the most difficult food item i have ever tried to make.
my 2 attempts were inedible -- even gave away the special ec6.21 trays
i am feeling very, very stupid today
I think the last few grids have been like that
no, not about the grid
about other things
like this parking garage i have to park in for my new internship. i was told i could park on levels 1, 5, 7, or 8. but level 1 is closed for construction, and i couldn't see a 5 or 7, either. at least, not when driving. it appears that the odd numbered levels are like, separate from the evens somehow? but i can't figure out how to access them because one entrance is blocked off for construciton. yet, there were cars parked on 5 when i got to it via the stairs. but i can't figure out how they got there, or how the whole thing is put together, and i feel like a massive idiot.
and 8 is the top, exposed to the sun, so i just would prefer not to have to park there.
ta roal
sorry folks!
