I'm getting my house painted this week. I can't wait to see it finished! Michael started changing the trim from blue to red. Then everything stalled for obvious reasons. I finally got all the dry rot fixed and it is ready for new paint.

I'm sticking with the off-white, but the trim is a deep barn red. I got new gutters a couple of years ago, but so much siding and other dry rot needed replacing and it took me a bit to find the right handyman. I found a great guy! I now have cold water in the kitchen too!

I had hot water, just not cold - there was an old part that was leaking, so the cold had to be turned off years ago. It wasn't too bad to live with because the hot water takes a long time to get to the kitchen..

I'm blessed that covid bypassed me. When Michael was in ICU during covid, they only let me see him once. it was the day I had to decide to end life support. It was the most awful day of my life. He didn't have covid.

You two have offered me much comfort over the years. I still get teary this time of year - fall comes, the anniversary of his passing is a week before my birthday and two weeks before his. I don't like October so much now. Too many memories.
sprite, honey. my first hubby ran the whole gauntlet of the abuse spectrum. i think that is why i accept the stuff from Don. he is no where near as bad as Peter was. at least no kids are being abused by Don. that was the hardest to bear.
it is hard, Kam, and even harder during those anniversary times. We are here, for what it is worth. With big hugs.

Rose, I know. That is why I keep trying to get you to stand up for yourself. You are worth being treated with love and respect. Don does love you. He just needs to be told where he doesn't show it. And since he is a spoilt little brat, that will take some conflict. As long as you keep kalm and firm, he will come around.

My grandson is coming to visit in about 3 or 4 weeks. I have to finalize the arrangements since he is in Colorado. I'm so excited to see him again! I haven't seen him since Michael's dad's funeral about 5 years ago.

He's Michael's biological grandson. I love him to pieces! We talk all the time. There is a lot of his grandad's stuff he wants, so he can help get it packed up to ship to Colorado. My biological grandson will be 13 in November.

the game does this usually very helpful thing of pulling your most recent save up to the top of the list. But that meant I didn't move down the list quite far enough to avoid that save file the next time
I'm about 80% thru the game at this point, and I may have totally borked it. :( We shall see.

HA ok - I wanted to lower the brightness on my monitors, so I went into the Settings page and chose the monitor and tried to lower it. No matter which one I chose, it only applies to the main laptop screen. So helpful.

well that's good :) I finally got my butt out of a super toxic work situation and now my biggest battles are winterizing the garden and cleaning up an old property, and it's SO NICE.

I did... and I sold it about 3 1/2 years ago to a corporation that promised they were "not like those other corporations; we really care about employees and want you to practice best medicine and we're definitely not just in it for the money". I really wanted to just be a doctor and not deal with management, which I hated.
VCA?
well, turns out that was all lies start to finish and I spent the last 3 1/2 years on a daily fight with multiple levels of management. No, Western Veterinary Partners.
One of the associates used to work for VCA and says lots of the same shit, but that WVP is less organized about it, so it's even more randomly frustrating to work for.
my friends sold their clinic to VCA and it ruined their lives.
I wish I had a great local vet here, but there just isn't anyone. I have to drive over an hour and a half to VCA in Sonoma
I can believe it. If I didn't own the property I'd probably be a real wreck right now because I'm way too burnt to want to get another job (and wouldn't want to work for either of the other clinics in the county anyway), but we'll still have rental income from the clinic so no big pressure on that
you'd be proud of me as I've been kind of heaviy involved with a rescue organization here in Napa.. Jameson Humane... rescues all kinds of critters

heheh. well, mine came from a rescue dog after all her hair fell out when I bathed her, and she got cold. And turned out I thought it was fun.
yeah.. one of our rescue dogs lost a ton of hair, just from the stress of being in foster homes.
we had to do a ton of cortisone to get him settled
this was a pekingese, she had a horrible skin reaction and ended up with a reverse rooster-comb, just a bald strip of scarred skin down her back where the hair never grew back in.

one of a long long list of problems that poor dog had, but she looked like an ewok so I had to get her a star wars shirt... and reflective puffy jacket for going out at night... and then more cute sweaters and smart-ass t-shirts...

and when she died, I had a huge stash of dog clothes, so I had to get a dog that fit them, right? (spouse despairs!)
