I just checked yesterday's log and man! what a day I missed (in line for Star Wars all afternoon)... I do hope that testing comes back if/when the game becaomes fun again. I take breaks when it's not fun anymore, and I'm likely to take another break soon since the weather is so nice lately. As enjoyable as this is, and as much as I appreciate the company, I do better spending time doing other things, and talking face-to-face with people. I have noticed a shift in the last few months, fewer tendencies to post clues based on word definitions rather than point totals, first few letters, etc. I like having definitions to work with because I feel I actually learn more new words that way. Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Thanks Bash; that was an easy one that I missed! e7, e8 go together...it is something that is in the back of a book that cites references...it is a compound word!

I have played for MONTHS and this is only my second post, inspired by Krys10's 11:47am notes. I much prefer hints based on definitions. So much so, that for the past month, I only give the log a cursory glance. It's not about "cheating," it's about the learning and the puzzling. Getting the first 2 and 3 letters doesn't give me the thrill of the puzzle. my .02, pam

I also prefer definitions over getting the second or third letter. It's a good way to learn.

hi pam i'm a newbie here , agree its learning and puzzling or its too easy. however i only even noticed the log had help in it after getting 40 odd words, and only used the totals so i knew roughly what i needed. its like the OSW ( official scrabble words) book in the UK. it only has the words, and to me the lack of definitions is really irritating. thats my whinge for the day liz

i've looked back over the log, and you know i guess i really never have looked at this game as a huge competition. i hope others do the entire puzzle, and i after many long months of playing do now get lots of puzzles completed, but i think it has more to do with learning the words and the ones that you see repeated often, i like the definitions, but i also like the numbers for when i get stuck, and i really do enjoy chatting with all of the different people that play this game, face it, we have brains, or else we'd be popping balloons on another site...:) ok, off the soapbox....

I agree with baggo! Helping each other finish is actually one of the things I like best about this game, as long as the clues aren't too obvious. I have learned quite a few words from Babble. Since english isn't my native tongue, I certainly can use some help from time to time and I appreciate the generosity of the regulars and the new addicts here. ;-) I am always willing to do stats, but I am not playing every day and I like to play a while before making them. Really hope the log will stay as supportive as I know it.

It's the same with me, 2HOTT - I always got stuck on words that jump out of the grid right into my face, once I finally manage to find them. Besides being fun, Babble really helps me to stay very humble ;-)

I can Imagine.. I work in a school occasionally covering in her class... can u imagine 30 5 year olds... oh boy!!lol

I have a deep and true admiration for teachers... I have a 9 year old son and a 7 year old daughter and they can easily use up all the patience I can muster... which isn't much! *lol*

Well what I do is treat the children how I would expect my children to be treated. (5 + 10) It is hard work but extremely rewarding.
