1:20 am

Hi katesmom, It means there is an 8 letter word, starting with S, that's worth 70 points

The first bit is the letter it starts with, the second is the number of letters in the word, the third is the number of points the word adds up to. So an S/8/70 is a word that starts with S, has 8 letters, and is worth 70 pts.

1:20 am

word starts with the letter s, has 8 letters and totals 70 points

1:21 am

i'm slow :(

Wow, I8/75 as wel...

5:12 am

First timer here - is anyone else there not using a dictionary/wordfind? I'm not and I have 70 words/1046 pts - just wanted to know if that's about as far as I'll get without help. I can't seem to get many long words - my average word length is only 4.67

5:55 am

Nicole, most of the people here love word games. There'll always be people better than you. They just happen to see more and or quicker than most. So just play and have fun. On another note, I only see five hints for the eight letter words: where's the sixth? Recap. s8 50 s8 70 s8 75 o8 60 (took me forever you old sheep :P) h8 65

6:04 am

augurus - there's an i8/75 posted at 5:02 am, if I'm reading it right.

6:06 am

nicole: I agree with augurus - just have fun. I usually get about half the words on my own - then use posted clues and other 'tools' . Have learned a lot that way. After a while you begin to remember some of the odd 'babble' words that are in lots of puzzles! Welcome!

6:11 am

Some days are better than others. One day I can't type fast enough, other days the words could smack me in the face and I still wouldn't see them. Like today...

6:18 am

thanks guys :-)

6:28 am

I see that z doesn't start any words today, but can it even fit into any words?

6:47 am

Nope, not found any words even containing Z yet.

6:53 am

how do you unsubscribe from this?

the letter u is my enemy

7:45 am

same here palindromic...ive got one U5/12. not finding the other one yet though...

7:52 am

the o8 is killin' me... any hints? ;)

7:55 am

Don't know if anyone mentioned the s736 that your car does on the ice.

8:01 am

thanks fit 1... and don't forget to make it plural!

8:01 am

thanks fit1... i HATE those compound words cause I hardly ever see 'em.

8:13 am

You can find out an O7 by rearranging. O8 is the plural. Bit cryptic maybe :-)

Hey Leon(Augurus) I don't know if you'll see this, but you got me hooked. There's an S8/75 that I don't know if it has been mentioned

9:21 am

hi, I'm new here. I was just wondering if any of you was interested in posting your thoughts on some general strategies that work well...some things that might not be immediately obvious to a person unfamiliar with word games.

I'm not that great myself, but always look for common endings to verbs/nouns like "s", "es", "ing" (which is very helpful in this puzzle), "ed" and also look for prefixes too: "re", "un", etc. On a side note, this o8/60 is VERY frustrating.

9:34 am

Any clues on the i7/56?

9:47 am

LOL... after 2 days, I finally finish a darn letter - D

9:48 am

The I7/56 was a guess. It's one of those "scrabble" words that doesn't show up in my normal dictionary. Think of combat.

9:54 am

has anyone used the z at all yet?

10:08 am

i8/75 is past tense of i7/56

10:09 am

someone recommended a site called oneacross I think yesterday, but I cannot remember

10:13 am

i use that site and love it. it's not helping me with the i7/56; "think combat" was the clue, any other hints? :)

10:17 am

Goose, think of a group squabbling among themselves.

10:18 am

I7/56 - normally applied to politics, politicians....

10:21 am

Ow, a nice small one! :D

10:21 am

highly recommend a2zwordfinder

10:21 am

got it... Thanks for the clues

10:23 am

OT comment here, but someone might have an answer. It's happened twice to me now, where after browsing around to other parts of the site (i.e., Player Rankings) and then returning the today's puzzle, the name under "Logged in as:" is not mine. Going to User Profile still shows my info, and I can log out and back in fine. But yesterday, I was "eli" for a few minutes, and today I was "Orit" for a moment or two. Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts on how/why? Should I be telling an admin somewhere? :)

10:25 am

O4/6: word that Babble says to me very often.

10:25 am

still struggling, is it a common word (please say no;)

10:25 am

llama, I just became Orit as well. Never happened to me before, very strange.

10:27 am

LOL -> cute sprite, find the f5 that Ali did for a living, and all will come to pass with the i7 and i8

10:29 am

Hey, I'm Orit, too! What's up with that?

10:29 am

Lol... true, mtnjock, just hope I don't go N4/4 before then.

10:32 am

I'm still me, but it seems like the profile pages are going into f4/7

10:32 am

Anyone have a clue for the H7-44 and/or the S8-75?

10:34 am

Ooops. Got just got the H7-44. Still need a clue for the S8-75 though.

10:36 am

I think I know what's causing the Orit glitch. It should be fixed very shorly.

10:36 am

I keep turning into Orit too (but with my own word list) - have to log out and in again to fix it each time

10:36 am

The H7-44 is what college students struggle to find for next year

10:39 am

Thanks, CSA. Can't believe I didn't see that. Had everything except the "ing". Duh.

10:41 am

Ok. I think I fixed the Orit glitch. If you log out and log back in, you should be Orit-free forever.

10:43 am

Ha ha, Qualitybobby. Good clue for the F5-18.

10:43 am

the S8/75 look for an ing word

10:43 am

I'm new to this game as of last night. I'm addicted already. 73 words, 1188 score. Not bad, not great. Not using any help. Just wondering how many of you use help and how many wing it??

10:45 am

Farewell dear Orit; we hardly knew thee!

10:48 am

The last clue for the O8 did nothing for my tiny brain. Is there a less cryptic clue to be had?

10:49 am

11:11 am

Goose: I wouldn't call it common, though it exists of two very common parts: 1. not out. 2. battled.

11:12 am

I7/56 is not a common term. Try Googling....

11:14 am

got it! i didn't know that was a word!

11:17 am

that word was not found in the sites i tried it on. is it really two words? this is only my 3rd game, slightly confused? :) but thanks for all the help

11:19 am

i got the i8/75 through trying something i thought might be a word, but then can't find a definition for it as a word anywhere. that makes me feel like i'm never going to do well cause there are words in the puzzle that aren't words!

11:19 am

No, it is one word. Just split it up to help you find it. ;) Babble uses the enable dictionary, which has some strange words in it.

11:22 am

Any clues for the h8?

11:22 am

I am lost on the o8 word

For O8--The winner of a treasure hung does this over everyone else.

11:25 am

where is this enable dictionary? jylcat - may be hard but if you can give a clue to the i8/75 ? :)

11:27 am

Actually Goose I used sprite's hint for the i/7 56 and got the i/8 75 by accident!

11:28 am

I played my first puzzle yesterday and I'm wondering if the answers are posted anywhere. Thanks!

11:29 am

Edit of my last clue: For O8--The winner of a treasure hunt does this over everyone else.

11:31 am

great clue man, thanks

11:33 am

I am so stupid that I cannot see the O7 word? Am I going to kick myself when I finally get it?

Any help for the two E's? Just length/points would be nice for now.

11:48 am

E4 4 E4 10 THE SECOND IS PLURAL

11:51 am

11:52 am

E4 10 isn't possible to be plural, and is only possible in two ways neither of which are words. Are you sure that's correct?

11:53 am

Since when is "Hindu" not a valid word? Billions of English speakers in India, you know . . . might want to fix that one . . .

For the E's, they're not words that people ever use. One is the plural of the other. Just keep in mind the score they give and realize what that means and guess a little. That's how I got them.

12:11 pm

oops, sorry--i see someone already told you that

12:14 pm

So does that mean all adjectives/nouns used to describe a person's religion, ethnicity or race are herein considered proper nouns? Meaning that the puzzle would also reject "American" or "Asian" or "Celts" if those were possible formations?

12:14 pm

got it-thanks

12:16 pm

yep but strangely accepted mayan

12:18 pm

jaelithe, from the words you list only celt/celts would work. Confusing, isn't it? When a word needs a capital, babble won't accept it.

12:19 pm

That's what I was thinking-- that it accepted Mayan and Maya from me the other day. Of course, maya is also a word borrowed from Sanskrit which means (roughly translated) illusion, but that doesn't explain Mayan . . . seems to me the distinction is rather arbitrary . . .

12:21 pm

ok, I got one of the E words, but lost on the other

12:23 pm

Just pluralise the E (or make it singular, depending on which E you found)

There is no d4/5. You must have the d4/6. For the d4/11 and the d5/24 think about the tv show the Simpsons and Homers favorite beverage. The d5 is the plural. Haha...I don't know the real meaning of this word and just guessed it.

12:57 pm

i7/32: enclosing membranes, as those covering the sorus of a fern. I don't have a d4/5. I have d4/11, d5/24 and d4/6.

12:59 pm

right, d4/5 was a typo - i meant d4/6 thanks

1:00 pm

thanks JonathanDDR - I can't believe that - I tried the singular version of d5/24 and it didn't work so I didn't try the plural

1:01 pm

1:11 pm

ok need one more help on I - I have all but one I 7-32 I 7-56 I 4-7 I 5-12 I 4-4 Does anyone know the one I am missing?

The s7/52 is the plural of the s6/36

You need the i8/75--it's the past tense of the i7/56. How about a clue for the i4/4. I'm really stupid and can't find it :(

1:15 pm

ty for the help on the I8-57 got it - didn't know it was a word with regard to the S7 / 52 and S6 / 36 is there a small def?

1:15 pm

i4/4: A South American freshwater dolphin. It is ten or twelve feet long, and has a hairy snout. (learning something new from babble in each grid is my excuse for playing often)

All the definitions I can find for the s6/36 and plural have the word in the definition :P

1:17 pm

I 4/4 is a south american freshwater dolphin with a hairy snout possibly 10-12 ft long

1:17 pm

Fneh. I've got 3 S6/36s. 2 of them are already plural, and the 3rd isn't pluralizable in this grid. :(

Yeah, at least I've heard/can imagine today's non-vowel. Yesterday's...not so much.

1:29 pm

May I have a clue for the i4-7, please? (not the river dolphin one).

For the i4/7 it's sometimes referred to as the 411

1:30 pm

thanks for the p4/12 clue, sprite - wouldn't have thought of that!

1:30 pm

for those who have gotten it, this I7 has turned into my triteres from yesterday.

2:07 pm

It occurred to me that there are two 05/18's and I only have one. You may already have the one that I was talking about.

2:07 pm

what about the u's?

2:09 pm

and i have no idea about o5-18

2:10 pm

Dani, two words make one, like I7 and I8. Now if you are not in the closet, you are ____ of the closet, and if something is lost you try to ___ it, now put them together.

2:10 pm

well you " " to!

2:11 pm

sorry, that was for Gabbyrell... you " " to know the answer.

2:12 pm

i can't find the u's either. :(

2:12 pm

thanks, will work on those :)

2:14 pm

U5/12

2:15 pm

finally found one. I only have the o5/16

2:16 pm

ARRRG. I'm only missing one P word, but I don't know which one it is. I have P4x6, P5x4 and P6x3. What am I missing?

2:17 pm

2:18 pm

Judy, We hated this word earlier, its p4/12.

2:18 pm

Any clues for the o5/14 and o5/16?

2:19 pm

oh yeah, i " " to... well i did :-)

2:21 pm

p4/12 - more a sound than a word. actually, it's the sound i made when i figured out this word!

2:22 pm

Jonathanddr look at p4/7, and work with it.

2:25 pm

I have the P4-12 (pfunny sound). Is there another P4-12 or is it another P4-7 I'm missing?

Ok, that's the o5/14...

Only 2 more words til 100 and 2000 points...

2:30 pm

2:33 pm

I am trying to do this without dictionary or other websites, just off the top of my head. (and trying not to use your clues too!) I have to say, some of these words are ridiculous.

2:34 pm

they do, Jax - some of them don't seem to have definitions (none that I can find, anyhow!)

2:34 pm

any clues for the u's?

2:34 pm

Hi Everyone! Can anyone tell me if there are any E's?

2:34 pm

if you click the ? in the box to the left of the word it will give you the dictionary.com definition

2:35 pm

there are 2 Es...see stats

2:36 pm

one is plural of the other

2:36 pm

I believe they are words, just a bit out there...

2:37 pm

My husband found this for me yesterday. Bad idea on his part. Yesterday I got 2240 points, but today not able to work on it as much. On and off. Pretty much sucking

2:37 pm

Thanks Dani...I'm new at this...but already addicted

2:38 pm

so far only 1500 pts, 76 words. but the 3rd word I found was the s8/75. I was proud!

2:38 pm

U5 -- not acquired.

2:39 pm

Other U5 -- employing an oject to achieve a task.

2:39 pm

Jax: funny, my husband found this for me the other day and already regrets it. I've completely abandoned boggle at games.com too.

2:41 pm

The two E's are singular and plural of a French word meaning a small case in which you keep things.

2:42 pm

at 12:10 kz gave a great clue for the e's

2:42 pm

how is this game played?

2:44 pm

it's nice to see so many new faces. The RULES are posted at the top of the page.

2:50 pm

May I suggest to everyone that, instead of reposting the stats a million times, you can highlight them with your mouse then copy and paste them into Word and print them out? It will reduce the amount of scrolling that we have to do to read other comments and has the added benefit of giving you a page on which you can make ticks next to each letter to show how many you have got.

2:53 pm

u5 / "not acquired" is about to drive me crazy...any more hints?

2:53 pm

Not begotten.

it's visually similar to i5/12

2:56 pm

u5 and u5 - thanks, Troy, can't believe I didn't see those before...

2:56 pm

3:39 pm

s8/75 is an s5/22 you probably already have with a suffix on the end (make it an action) this is not how i usually say or spell the word
