thanks for those who tried to help me in the home stretch...got 100 words. Turned out I was looking for the wrong word needed "ta" not "te"...I must have counted incorrectly...oh, well.
ok I dont understand those stats how do these ones work Im use to letter count and number of letters in a word
whats the difference in the word count and the letter count
Wilson, just play as you're accustomed. The lists are telling you how many words begin with 'a', how many start with 'd'. etc
letter count tells you how many times the letter is used in total. rather useless info, but people tend to spend hours trying to find a word with Z when there are none. I should probably just let them waste their time, but....

Word count is rather obvious, if not formatted the way you're used to. I also have the word count broken out thus: Ac 2 - ,Ac4/1,Ac5/1 but I don't post those before 6 pm as some folks get a little upset if I give away too much :D

Don't care for that letter count. Got my self confused and thought I needed 18 u's until I realized that I'm not missing enough words to need 18. Sheesh. Sleep deprivation may not be a good thing.
Do all you amazing people scoring in the thousands use dictionaries? I just started babble this week and have only reached 773, but have sworn not to use one.
Usually I do not use aids, though when I need a couple more words to finish that I cannot seem to find, I grab a dictionary from the shelf here or try a2zwordfinder. Some very strange words come around regularly, so when you play more often, you start to recognise them. Also nice: finding words by typo's :D T5/18 - 6/30 : freeman granted land by the king in return for military service in Anglo-Saxon England
Yep, I use one because I'm just obsessed and can't stand not to finish. My rationalization is that I'm learning all kinds of really nifty things.
Just like me, lol! Those last few words just cannot be left alone, can they smithchick? I usually find the log a great help too, and stats help. Though I do not care for the lettercount, the wordcount is great. And the clues of course, especially the cryptic ones, I love those!
hello all, i love reading the log, but i too, while at times i do use a2z there are lots of words that repeat, and noodling always helps. i read the log but i rely on the word counts and take my lead from those. i am just so happy not to have to rely on my husband for stats....lol
i am a nurse and half the unit now has a copy of this puzzle and they are doing it. just for you uk gals, they don't think half these words are legit, and we are from the us...lol
The log is definitely helpful, especially when one is searching in vain for the last e. The one that isn't fishy or any...other thing.

I also use a word finder, but only after my feeble brain has tired. Sometimes the listed words are not spelled as we think they s/b. After two hours, 75/839. Missing 3 6 ltr wrds, 4 5 ltr wrds and 6 4 ltr wrds. Need the last e, g, h , 2 l's, r's ,s's, and 4 t's. After one week of playing, haven't come this close to finishing. Good thing I can rest overnite. Ciao...

movieman, the meaning is 'to cut up the blubber of', not that that helps. If you add a letter to the front of one of the le4/4's and another (or two) at the end, you'd have these words.

fl6 means to strip the blubber from a whale. it requires adding an f to the l5/10. fl7 is the person who does the blubber stripping. a very common word here in detroit =D
