8:54 am

Is it the remains of the meds I took last night, or is this puzzle tougher than usual?

8:54 am

LOL. I made up one of mine too. I just don't see anything. Probably obscure medical terms or extinct animals.

8:57 am

Think this is a real tough one Munner. Way too many vowels. think I might just go and sit in the sun instead! :)

8:57 am

Hi munner, how are you doing today? It's not your meds, I'm afraid, I am really battling too!

8:58 am

Good call chessy, think I'll join you!

8:59 am

I used to be an English second language teacher as well as every grade K-12. I just try word patterns and come up with words I have no idea what they mean and don't care as long as I get the points!

I feel at a disadvantage here. All you seem to be Brits..and your jargon is a wee bit different than here in the Southern USA..I imagine some of our words would throw you for a loop as well..(i want to visit ENGLAND!! and try mushy peas..lol)

11:39 am

I'm new here. Is there a way to see the final list of words after the puzzle is closed? I would like to be able to see what I missed!

11:40 am

Hi lianakate I can't say that I use all the words I find in daily conversation!!

11:45 am

mickie, the next day you can click on "yesterday's puzzle" and it'll give you a list of all the people that did it... I usually just click on the highest score, because that'll give you all the words. Welcome! :)

11:47 am

Thanks, Jen!

11:47 am

mickie. click on yesterdays puzzle at top of page

(i want to go to England and try...Bangers and Mash..lol)

12:11 pm

i could only find 80 words , dang! I am not gonna start using a dictionary..its too tedious. I do the words I know..and guess at a few..lol, THATS IT..am off to speed boggle..where i also am lousy..since i dont type fast..later, all..and ty..:)

1:29 pm

y/w Tomiazan. I've nailed the O thanx to Lola. I've got 32 Hs, so the missing one is probably soooo obvious lol

1:29 pm

Anj: it's the plural of a word meaning :a corrosive solution of sulfur trioxide in sulfuric acid! There is a book called "White *****nder".

1:32 pm

Okay Anj, it's the lo5/10 I'm missing. Please help as brain seems to be on holiday today!

1:34 pm

SpriteLynn There are 2 he6/27

1:34 pm

May I have a clue for the R5-18 please?

1:36 pm

Judi sounds like a stone

1:36 pm

1:38 pm

Got it -- Thx miman!

1:39 pm

Too bad there's no "e" to go on the end of that h/27

1:40 pm

These are the H's I have (32 as I'm missing one): ha4/7 x 7 ha5/16 x 4 he4/7 x 7 he5/16 x 5 he6/27 x 2 he4/10 ho4/7 x 2 ho5/16 x 2 ho6/27 hw4/10 Please could someone let me know which one I'm missing? :)

1:41 pm

Cheers LOla, I'll work on that one. Your L5/10 is a sort-of acronym for 'long range navigation'

1:42 pm

lola100 there are 5 x ha5/16

1:43 pm

no wonder I'm going mad - I'd written down that there are 15 T words, not 5!! aarrgh :)

1:43 pm

Thanks Anj, just got the L! :)

1:44 pm

Thanks miman, will work on that!

1:44 pm

Lola, mt H list reads the same as yours :(

1:44 pm

miman -- you said there are 2 he 6/27s. I found 1 he 6/27 and 1 ho 6/27. Am I missing an he 6/27?

1:46 pm

Cheesy?

1:47 pm

1:47 pm

MInski, there are 2 he/627s: 1) U2 song "Two H.... beat as One" 2) Rock star drug of choice...

1:49 pm

eek! Sorry...dyslexic fingers again Chessy. They seem to like typos :(

1:50 pm

Bye all got to put the grandchildren to bed. managed 125 words and will call it a day

1:54 pm

2:06 pm

2:08 pm

yep you are missing lo5x10

2:09 pm

MInski, there should be 33. I've got he4/7 x 7 but I can't see another...

2:15 pm

Movieman, it's another te5/10 - wide brimmed felt hat worn in the sub-tropics. Also an area in Nepal.

2:16 pm

So you'll be at the meeting then Anj? lol! I'm confused :{ miman said I needed another ha5/16 and then minski said I needed another he4/7 - I only need one more, not two!!!!!!

2:17 pm

he 4/7s ~ to perceive sound ~to take hold of; sieze ~The barb of a feather used in trimming an artificial fly for angling ~a heron ~A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose ~Used to indicate the one or ones belonging to a person of a certain gender ~no definition ~something made or shaped with an axe is ****

2:19 pm

I'm confused also as I seem to have one more he than I should but still only have 32 Hs.

2:22 pm

MInski, your last clue ref axe - you sure that's not a he4/10?

2:24 pm

I miscounted my he's. Sorry. I included my he 4/10 in with my he 4/7s.

2:26 pm

Sorry for the confusion. Still missing some hs but baby is rather vociferously requesting some attention so have to go. TTFN

2:26 pm

No worries Minski...the prime suspect is now a ha5/16 then...? Can't find that either :(

2:29 pm

Anj, that must mean we are looking for an ha5/16. I have 4: - a military acronym - a word that sound like the opposite of love -male deer -a word with no def. but is only one letter different from male deer. Does that help at all?!

2:30 pm

I have ha5/16x4... should there be 5? If so, I'm completely lost.

any one got a list of the n's? this is what I got.,.. na5/10 na4/4 x2 ne4/4 ne5/10 x2 ne6/18 ne4/4 no5/10

33 h's in the form of h4's x 18 h5's x 12 h6's x 3 currently I'm looking for my last h5

2:31 pm

ab annie- you need a third ne5/10 :)

2:36 pm

Cheers Lola...pretty sure Ive got the same as you. The word that is one letter different from the male deer means 'to drag along the ground' or ' the barb of a feather used to making artificial fishing flies'. The dictionary says it is also spelt 'harle' (yaaaay!) but Enable is having none of that (boooo }-()

2:37 pm

and I have 2 ne 4/4's

2:39 pm

Anj- yup, those are the ones I've got :( Just had to go for chocolate to sooth my frustration :)

2:46 pm

Anj, Lola -- Those are all the H's I have too....

2:47 pm

right, just had supper so now have energy to continue the fight!

whoot I found it, random typing strikes again, it's an ha5/16, that makes ha5/16 x 5

and that was my last one, time to go find supper :)

2:49 pm

Tomazian- please don't go without giving us a clue!!!!!!!!!!!

2:51 pm

Someone's got a wicked side lol. Reason this...it's a ha5/16 so the ha will acount for 5 points. The other three letters have to be 1 pointers as the 5 count means it's a 2 x score.

okay well the definition just says " A white person", but it's news to me

now can I go for supper?!? :) =D

2:55 pm

Thanks tomazian, but still no closer to finding it :( will you come back and put us out of our miseries after your meal?:)

2:57 pm

Lola - I got that h5/16! :) Think Courtney Love's band with an extra letter thrown in it... Or if you switch the first two letters, an (almost) bad thing to call someone.

oh looks like it's hawaiian in origin, one of a small stock of Polynesian borrowings into American English. a word common in Hawaii itself but not well known on the American mainland

3:00 pm

SpriteLynn- you are an angel, THANK YOU! I knew there was a reason I liked courtney love's band!!!! :) :) :)

3:02 pm

Someone on an American island might call a white person the ha5/16 word

3:04 pm

Yaaaay! You're a star SpriteLynn. Welcome to 'romdan pyters nona' :) I'll have to dig out Celebrity Skin now...

3:04 pm

Thank TomazianRedfist -- I never could have gotten that one on my own! At least with the H's done I can leave work happy -- though still only at 128!

3:15 pm

I'm back and I got the last H. Thanks.

3:19 pm

Right guys, that's me done! Third episode of Lost on tonight so think I'll watch that:) Cheers!

4:10 pm

This one definately seems stranger than usual. Stuck on 110 / 1094 pts.

4:10 pm

both qus are 5/18 and to be perfectly honest I didn't know they were words. I found them by random typing.

4:11 pm

there's an o6/18 that is a bird (and a baseball team, i think)

4:12 pm

Hi Zade, it's a nightmare. crawled up to 111/1124 but totally stuck - like trying to knit jelly.

4:14 pm

doogle - en6/18 & le6/18

4:14 pm

Minski - lol.. today I am finding them ALL by random typing!

4:14 pm

Doogle, of the 18's you are missing En6/18 - to sign up Ne6/18 - colorless liquid from orange blossoms Both Q's are Q5/18

4:15 pm

i think the total is 1300 points

4:17 pm

About time for a repost: --- 134 Words Total --- --- Word Count --- A - 12 E - 11 F - 5 H - 33 I - 3 L - 11 N - 11 O - 8 Q - 2 R - 11 S - 12 T - 5 W - 10

4:18 pm

4:22 pm

doogle, did you get the other o6/18? it actually is the bird (sing., ends in e...)

4:23 pm

Thank you, Kebek!! I was sure that wasn't in there. And I'm from Baltimore!! <laughs at self>

4:30 pm

Doogle, you're down: ea4/4 el5/10 en5/10 en5/16 Did you get the a6/18?

4:31 pm

I have an en 6/18 that is the plural of the en 5/10.

4:31 pm

4:32 pm

Thanks again, kebek. The El5 is actually the only one I'm missing now. Now I hunt.

4:32 pm

yeah, i'm stuck on the last a's. i need another ar5/10 and ar6/18...can't see them. sigh.

4:32 pm

i know this sounds like a silly question but i've got one of the qu words but i dont understand how it can be 18 point, can anyone explain please?

4:34 pm

en 5 en 6 (the plural) I'm missing the other two el 5/10 e something I think from the log

4:35 pm

There's a few missing there Chessy. ai4/4 - think of a mound of stones used to mark a burial site, but with no view of the 'sea', if u get my drift ;)

4:35 pm

kebek think it is one that sounds like a wireless antenna - and the plural

4:37 pm

also missing 3 s's. here's what i have: sl4/4 so4/4x6 st5/10 st6/18 anyone? :)

4:37 pm

hardyk112, the Qu counts as two letters even tho' it's only one tile. 5 letters = double points.

4:38 pm

thanks anj

4:39 pm

y/w - never heard of either of the Q words tho'!

4:40 pm

thanks deeha, but i think i have those...

4:42 pm

Kebek - You're missing another St5/10, an So5/10, and whatever the one S6/18 I'm missing is.

4:43 pm

Chessy, there are 3 ar4/4s: 1) place or region 2) warbled in an opera 3) statues, paintings, ming vases, half a cow in formaldehyde (!) ...that sort of thing :)

4:43 pm

thanks doogle

4:45 pm

ar6/18 think part of the body

4:48 pm

thanx again Anj. Why does one always miss the blinding obvious ones! (too busy looking for obscure Hawaiian dialect words). Tho' I think I still need an ar4/7 & ar5/10

4:52 pm

Chessy: Tell me about it :( The ar4/7 is a barking laugh, plural The ar5/10 (assuming you already have the antenna) doesn't have a cowin' definition so let's try your first ar4/4 with added 'e' :)

4:54 pm

only 2 words left and yet it seems so far...

4:54 pm

Done! Man, this one was brutal! Time for me to go shopping for a lightly used life!

4:56 pm

does anyone know the second letter of the other s6/18 word? (i've got one st)

4:58 pm

Anj - u r a star

4:59 pm

YOu'rr welcome Chessy. So how's the jelly jumper coming along?? :)

5:08 pm

v e r y s l o w l y . . .

5:10 pm

did anyone post a list of how many words along with how many words of eahc particular length?

5:11 pm

one of the definitions of qu word is A woman regarded as being disreputable, especially a prostitute

5:12 pm

hardy; think Elizabeth R for both hope thats not too cryptic. why are so many scrabble words disallowed , I'd have finished hours ago

5:13 pm

Cathy - scroll down and you'll see the stats any number of times. The easiest thing to do is paste them into a word processing program and print them out for reference.

5:13 pm

another qu word is defined thus:A wedge used to raise the level of a gun.

5:18 pm

yeah... i got the list of the amount of words... but i have noticed on previous games that people have sometimes posted how many of each particular word length.... not to worry... i will continue to scratch my head!! lol

5:20 pm

thanks finally got my 2 qu words they were killin me to get!!

5:20 pm

What happened to the second letter clue list? I scrolled down but can't find it!

5:24 pm

How long do folks spend on this - I can only usually spare an hour or so each night so get nowhere near-only managed 53 words so far but having fun and am certainly addicted. The Sunday mail has a lot to answer for!

5:26 pm

CathB, I sort of come and go during the day with this. And yes, the MoS has a LOT to answer for hahaha. Jera, the 2nd letter breakdown hasn't been posted yet.

5:29 pm

Bummer, only 6 hours to go, brass tacks time for me!

5:32 pm

Good evening from Atlantic Canada - Hope everyone is doing well tonight

5:35 pm

Has anyone finished the A's? I'm missong 2

5:37 pm

A qu word definition is: croquet played on a hard court surrounded by a bank. By the way, how does anyone know that there are only two qu words?

5:41 pm

Jera, if you scroll down, I posted a few A clues for Chessy which you may find useful.

5:44 pm

Thanks, anj, I think I already have those, hard to tell w/o whole list.

5:48 pm

Need last T, maybe I can complete that letter! I have the bird, crying + plural & the hat

5:50 pm

yeah the sunday mail has been good for something at last! there is life after countdown

5:51 pm

That's the catch22 in this one :) ae4/4 x 2 ai4/4 an4/4 ar4/4 x 3 ar4/7 ar5/10 x 2 ar6/18 x 2

5:51 pm

I believe the e7/28 could be referred to as a shower in Fangorn? My apologies. That just struck me while emptying my mind in the shower...

5:52 pm

not for Richard unfortunately bless him ugh was that a sick thought?

5:53 pm

Jera, tr5/10 now standing at platform 1 :)

5:56 pm

Lol Doogle, very esoteric. The Babbletrix has you...

5:56 pm

Thanks bunches anj you're a doll

6:00 pm

..only in soft focus, dim light, and from the right angle ;)

6:07 pm

Hint on last a5... I have the little mermaid

6:07 pm

That should have been more question-like... I need a hint! :>

6:13 pm

taking a break from today's fiendish puzzle to wonder who creates them. does anyone know?

6:13 pm

ah, that one...it's medical-related and doesn't google very well :( TRy adding an 'e' to your first ar4/4...

6:17 pm

jrs - My guess, and that's all it is, is that the puzzles are randomly generated, probably with the various letters having different probabilities of appearing.

6:18 pm

Thanks... when at wits end, add an S or an E! ;>

6:18 pm

Actually, I'd bet that the available letters in each puzzle basically represent a random draw of 25 tiles from the pool of tiles which comes in a game of Scrabble.

6:19 pm

Except with Qu instead of Q...

6:21 pm

Doogle - at first I thought so, too, but can a program be written cleverly enough to also count how many words can be created? And what database is used for the vocabulary - after all, several of these words aren't in the dictionary.

6:26 pm

The daily stats aren't generated from the Babble site itself, or by its makers. Apparently there are several sites on the web which have Boggle/Babble solver programs, some written by our fellow gamers, which are used to get the stats. I've yet to see the stats not match the actual list of words found, amazing as that may seem!

6:28 pm

actually the game is definetely boggle . the only connection with scrabble is the letter value hence the name babble give it a rest guys dont be so pompous!

6:31 pm

Say what, Ferrari? What's pompous about pondering the mechanics of the game?

6:33 pm

Doogle is correct about how the puzzles are generated.

6:38 pm

you sound just like my brother

6:38 pm

sorry

6:39 pm

any hint on the an4/4?

6:40 pm

Fascinating ... thank you all for the info. I'm taking a break. Perhaps if I don't see vowels for awhile ...

6:47 pm

Gwen: an/4 is a small buffalo

6:50 pm

That buffalo is a mainstay of Babble.

6:50 pm

Thanks Bellabooks!!! I thought I had tried ALL combinations. LOL

6:56 pm

this is a tough puzzle today

7:05 pm

Hint on LE words, please. I have skinny & what student does + past tense.

7:10 pm

Jera, small biz jet + pl

7:16 pm

Thanks! Now I need one more but no idea size of it

7:20 pm

I sure miss the hint list, where it gives 2nd letter & number of letters in word. What happened to that today??

7:21 pm

9:24 pm

I wish I could decipher half of what you're saying with those w5/28!! I've not a clue

9:25 pm

How nice to see you here, cath! I 'm STUMPED on this puzzle! It's only the 3rd one I've done--- but I only have 47 words!!! Is there a trick to this?

9:25 pm

w5/28 = a word beginning with w, 5 letters long and worth 28 points...

9:26 pm

Elmer NE 5/10 and its plural are words I've never heard of and don't remember how I found them but here's the definition. A colorless liquid, C9H17COH, derived from orange blossoms and used in perfumery.

9:26 pm

I've got that 5 letter w one, cath! Ya wants a hint???

9:26 pm

aggie - nice to see you too! this is my third too... but this is definitely hard! the only trick i see is to try different combinations, and keep your eye on the clues as they come up on the chat thing!

9:27 pm

No thanks aggie.. i do have it,... i was explaining the lingo to jenn!

9:29 pm

Cathy the only way to find the 2 IN words is to randomly play with letters. That's how I found them. ...checking for definitions.... I don't know how much they'll help though. ~ A South American freshwater dolphin (Inia Boliviensis). It is ten or twelve feet long, and has a hairy snout. ~ A small, usually ornamented box that is hung from the waist sash of a Japanese kimono and has compartments for holding small objects such as cosmetics, perfumes, or medicines.

9:30 pm

10:22 pm

Absolutely cannot find the na4 and na5! Help!

10:28 pm

smithchick, na4/4, google cella

10:28 pm

smithchick, na5 - nigerian money; na4 - The inner room or sanctuary of an ancient Greek or Roman temple

10:28 pm

na5 is nigerian money

10:28 pm

haha, nevermind :)

10:29 pm

the two na4's are the singular and plural of the room in the ancient temples contaiing the stone gods, or the are where the liturgy is performed. The Na5 is another dratted currency

10:36 pm

anyone have the or6 that is not a bird?

10:54 pm

11:11 pm

or/6 - yellow bird, baltimore or....

11:13 pm

11:13 pm

Ha5/5 -- I can only find 4, and they are all plurals :(

11:14 pm

yep, got the yellow bird from baltimore. Need the other one.

11:15 pm

the other or/6 is a type of window that projects from a wall, but does not get support from the ground.

11:15 pm

the only ha5 that isn't a plural is a body part.

11:16 pm

ha5/5 is hawaiian for honky

11:18 pm

argh, what kind of body part

11:18 pm

mz - ro5 - the name of a cheese, but drop the ending -- xtra hint, it uses the 'qu' ha5 - there are several ... 4 of them are plurals of ha4's, the other...take the name of courtney love's band and add a vowel (saw that clue earlier in the day!)

11:20 pm

pk.... thanks, those were awesome hints! :)

11:21 pm

11:23 pm

brandyjack... hehehehe I had to google it and cursed that it was another Hawaiian word. I hate those!

11:29 pm

i quite agree. if there is an english equivalent, then the non-english should not be allowed.

11:30 pm
