Your puns will be missed!
Hi puglet :)
you are just in time to wave ruru off to his trip
I dont talk to you much Ru but I rather like your puns too and I wish you safe traveling
how are you today, pug?
Iam just fine and You dear friend
am good. Bit nervous for the results of the second blood test. But telling myself things are already the way they are, so learning about them doesn't make them different.
when will you get it back?
I can phone the doctor in the afternoon. And I have an appointment with her tomorrow to talk things through.
Oh! I've missed so much recently! I hope all's well sprite :)
I will pray that things will go well for you Sprite.Remember He gives no more then we can handle
no, it won't be good news. Internal balance is messed up. Sugar too high, liver not good. I hope kidneys will check out ok though.
pug... that may be true. But he measures it up to the very last millimeter!
are you a diabetic Sprite
never was. Am now.
Hoping for the best possible results.
thanks Liz :)
I take care of my sister and she is.Is a battle keeping it right
are you taking shots
I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~Mother Teresa
Morning O--I like that
pug, the blood results I got back last week were the first I heard about it. We are now waiting for more detailed results. Don't know yet what kind of treatment I need.
love it, o-o
well I know diet and exercise is a biggie
yep. And I am blessed with an eating disorder and physical handicaps. So biggie is right.
I try not to buy anything that is processed or canned. Fresh or frozen stuff as much as possible
are you wheelchair bound Sprite
well, it is a complicated matter with lots of...errrr... interesting implications. We'll see what we can do. I am not promising anything yet :)
I wish you the very very best Sprite
no, thank God I am not. I couldn't walk anymore after the birth of my daughter and I should have taken a wheelchair then. I refused though, walked on crutches and managed to get it down to a cane after several years, then finally without cane as well.
I know you do, pug, I can feel it. Thanks :)
fireflies
Congrats sprite :)
thanks! Anything I can help with before I go?
I get so downtrodden with this diabetic thing with my sister. We be doing good and then it goes backward. We try very hard to to keep a good diet and exercise program for her but there are times I feel like throwing in the towel
good morning
w2g Sprite
Morning Ruby
Hi Ruby - long time no see - mostly down to me I think!!!!
it is very hard to keep it balanced. My grandfather was a diabetic too, so I have seen it. Does your sister check her own blood every day?
hiya ruby :)
yes Sprite and right now she is checking it 4 times a day
she must be out of fingertips to get it from by now! How awful, pug.
She is going to the doctor today
will keep her in my thoughts and ask for the best possible outcome.
{{{lizlin}} I've missed you but you must have had a wonderful time on yoour long trip!
I know Sprite--I really dont know what else to do
{{sprite}} I didn't know about the diabètes....extra hugs for you
ok dear all, I am off if nobody needs clues. *hugs* to you all. Have a peaceful evening and a lovely day.
thank you Sprite as I will you
{{litte pug}} my friend who cares more for everybody else than for herself
thanks ruby, just found out about it last week, so still early days :)
and o-o, you are a rock!
Same to you Sprite--hugs
The trip was amazing, Ruby. It's taking ages to process all the pics (I took 3000)! When they're sorted, I'll email you some!
3,000!!!
Have the best day you can sprite - be well :)
Hubby took 22000
Things have certainly changed since the days of film and processing!
thats alot of picture taking!
Digital makes it so easy!
There was just so much to photograph. It was all so beautiful.
Iam glad you and yours had such a wonderful time
Ruby how is you child
Thanks. Holiday of a lifetime.
On our little trip to Alaska, it was still film so I am left with one small but very beautiful album. The rest stays imprinted on my brain
We plan to put a photo book together - probably using iTunes. But I agree, there's so much that's just imprinted on the brain too.
If I were younger I think I would love to live in Alaska cause I love cooler weather and I would love to have a team of sled dogs
We had amazing weather in Alaska. Really warm.
How long did you travel Liz
We were away for 4 weeks. Met up with family in Vancouver for a few days. Toured the Rockies for 2 weeks and then cruised the Inside Passage for 7 days.
that sounds delightful indeed
It was made even better because close friends from London joined us on the cruise - hadn't seen them for 2 years.
hat an incredible trip! We just had a week there :(
I started writing a letter to a friend today! It's turning into a travelogue!
That's a good thing to keep, liz, while your memories are fresh. Your can add the "travelogue" to your album
Suspect that'll happen, Ruby! Has Rafie recovered from her little op?
yes, she's a tough cookie
Hope that everything else is going well for you! Have to go now - see you soon. Hugs to all :)
uh oh, words aren't registering
bye Liz
bye liz
looking forward to pix!
this puzzle is a tough cookie for me this morning
(speaking of tough cookies! lol)
I had better get dressed. See you later, cookies
okay Ruby enjoy your day hugs

congrats, dawg!! It's kind of tricky
it is a tricky grid for sure!
dawg, clue for fa5 please
several foreign words too.
a fa5 board goes accross the face of something usually on a house
Hello Annie and Dawg
thanks
hi lynxxx, tricky one today
And (in construction at least) almost always spelled with an S in it.
Yes, I have just come back to it
unusual for the US to add letters into words - they usually drop them for something briefer
The word with the "s" means something different than the word with out it. They are two different things.
hi Godthaab
Good morning lynxxx
By definition, the word with S means the same architectural thing that was referred to, and it is a medical term.
hello haab
Hi Annie
Hiya Lynxxx, Molly, godthaab
hiya Dawg
sorry, annie, I didn't see your request, I was off checking email and stuff. glad you have great company to babble with.
np, dawg, lynxxx gave me a clue
anyone get to watch the sky for the Perseids?
I should watch the news more often - didn't even know it was happening
should be able to see them thru tomorrow, Lynxxx. not sure how much you will see, but it is being streamed live on several science websites.
time to get ready for work. have a great day/night everyone!
bye dawg, have an easy day
bye Dawg
molly are you still here?
RB, The Taste of Spruce Gum is still sold on Amazon and abebooks.
halal isn't a word? hmmm
hi mael, add a vowel to it
thanks annie!
should be - foreign but certainly common and on a daily basis
Thanks, Annie. That's the one that almost won the Newbury! Little Brown should have put it in papervback! I need to get a copy for a friend--it did win the big Vermont award--
and if I am correct you are the author.
it would accept kosher, so I think halal really should be a word :)
the Dorothy Canfield Fisher. I must see what it's selling for. Look at what Paleface Redskins is selling for--I can't afford it!!
I agree, mael, but Enable is, well, Enable
oh, Enable. How we love you despite your occasional nonsense
When I finish the pile of books I have waiting I am going to purchase Spruce Gum
cute Mael
I got the genuine details for that Vt lumber camp from the woman who lived there--I split her into mother and daughter doe the plot. Didn't know wnough to hide names--some people wrote me their parent had worked up at the camp!
see you all later =- time for bed here
bye lynxxx, sweet dreams
RB, fascinatiing
fireworks
from your profile Annie you and I are near in age. Put Stories from the Round Barn on your list.
I will RB. Thanks.
and now that I am done, the day awaits. bye.
Anybody still here?
good morning scrabs
you up in the adirondacks again?
Hi Doren. Home from MArtha's Vineyard?
i am, and it was the best ever!
I got home from the Adirondacks last night at 11:30 and we had a GREAT time in the Lake Placid region--hiking, kayaking and laughing.
that's great. when you say kayaking, do you mean the hornbeck?
'morning, everyone
hi welki
Hi Welki
Yes, my sister, Leslie, and my friend, Celeste, and I have Hornbeck canoes. We paddled on Lake Placid, the AuSable River, Cascade Lake, and the Chubb River.
And Celeste and I paddled on Nick's Lake and Lake Harris/Hudson River before and after we were with Leslie.
I imagine that you have Popeye muscles in your arms now, Scrabbs :)
i thank you at least twice a week for telling me about the hornbeck! I am so happy with it
My arms are muscular! We did one almost 7 mile hike and my legs are still sore.
Isn't it the best, Doren?! We are paddling ambassadors for Hornbeck boats!
Hi All
Buon giorno, Hego!
Hiya Scrabs
The grunts you hear are me trying to squeeze words out of this mess.
people often ask me about it... particularly when they see me lift it off the rack and carry it as though it weighs nothing hi hego
Hi Doren
when we flyfish, not from shore, we use belly boats and pontoons - like this: http://tinyurl.com/m3h9fbr and http://tinyurl.com/ktvzjor
i've gotten down to 22 with no list and there's nothing left that I can see!
<--never carried her boat.
we use flippers to propel ourselves in the belly boats and either oars or a small trolling motor on the pontoons
I've seen those belly boats. The pontoon boat is really cool.
cute, welki. hego, these boats weigh about 14 pounds.. so cool
i went to the hornbeck site - they even have kits to make your canoe dog-friendly :)
Doren, I arrived at the boat launch yesterday, after paddling across the lake, and a man asked if I needed help carrying my canoe to the car. I said "no, thanks," then carried my canoe like a toy.
I have 21 words.
lol - all those folks thinking that dorens and scrabbler are amazons :)
:)
they are fantastic! going to the hornbeck place to pick it up is such fun! (and yes, beatiful country. the adirondacks). I'm hoping to go up there in September if possible for a weekend
Good for you, Doren. Where will you be?
clue for ag7 anyone?
well, we are amazon women!
italian wash cycle
yup - people down at the lake are always offering me help. ONe time a kid with his dad watched me and said (Dad, look at that lady!)
ty welki
TY, welki
i love those moments - i was fishing once (in the belly boat), having some good luck and another fisher floated up beside me to ask which flies i was using - i answered and he said, "Whoa! You're not a guy!" Ahem, well no kidding.
i think i'll go back to cedarwood b & b in north river. it was so lovely, and then take the boat to thirteenth lake. i just hiked around it a bit last time... when i got the boat, i couldn't wait to bring it home!!
Leslie and I will return to Garnet Hill Lodge in North River for 4 days in early October.

cluesfor the 6s please
I am very an 5/10 when it comes to Babbling. I feel like I MUST finish every grid. My am 5/16 Al 4/4 thinks I am addicted to Babble and he is probably right. Since I feel the need to finish every puzzle,I often have to ca4/5 on Lickety's list which is a godsend. I ca6/21 finish any grid without his list. After going to Lickety's list, words seem to ma 7/44ally appear to me. I ca 4/5 Babble anymore because hubby needs the computer. Hubby doesn't care one io 4/4 about Babble! I'm going to go watch the film "Dead Ca 4/6" starring Nicole Kidman. Ci 4/5 for now!
ding ding ding!
but yeah, imdb has it miyagi, so, oops
at....without a pitch musically
:(
c + man's name
am 5/1: anagram of im5/1
at 6/18 refers to musical sound. ca 6/24 sounds like name of a group of islands that was in the "The Firm". A ca 6/21 word ia ca 5/12 word plus a consonant. ca 6/21 is in story.

ya think? hi jes and teach
ca8 = like a swiss county
hi jes, ruby, and wv! I need the 8 also...
ty tom
ok. got it, thanks rolo! and hi to you too!
{{sue}}
(((ruby)))
so how are things by you, ruby?
I'm fine, dogs are great, husband is fading. And the weather is perfect!
How are you and Frank?
ah, sorry about the hubby, but the rest sounds god
*good
hello all - went off to check emails and find that everyone has shown up
we are doing well; Frank had a wisdom tooth out a couple of weeks ago and is still complaining but it is getting better
god, too lol
Hail, hail, the gang's all here!
husband is fading, ruby? i hope you just mean he's sleepy?
And me, too, ruby!
hi mimi!
No, I'm afraid not. He's sort of drifting away
((sue))
I guess this is what happens toward the end
:(
oh dear, ruby, I hope you are ok
At least he's not so nasty any more :)
ruby - have you found some support for yourself?
well, I suppose that is the silver lining, ruby
I'm OK, the housekeeper comes and I have some friends here. It's not so bad. And there are the lovely pups to keep me even
((ruby)) just sent you an em.
ah, glad you have friends, that is very important
*offers ruby a cup of tea*
I must sound very cold-hearted
Just popped in for a minute and now must get back to transcribing the crazy doc. Found out why they put up with her...she OWNS the practice!! Bye for now and hugs all around. Hang in there, ruby.
ty Mimi
Ruby, for the 100th time, you do not sound cold hearted. This is a situation where you have taken a lot of emotional abuse, whether it was illness-induced or not.
bye mimi!
You are too kind, Molly. I think I should be nicer to himnow, but I just don't feel like it
and what molly said, ruby - be kind to yourself - you are one strong lady!
bye, mimi, hope the day is minimally stressful
for the tea, I need a tea wa6 lol
Thanks, jes...I really hate alien chipmunk days!
No, I'm not too kind. You have tolerated a lot more than most women would and here you are right now, emotionally, is okay.
*where you are right now
and even here
alien chipmunk?
Does everybody have the wa6? I think it's a funny word, learned from Slumdog....
maybe we can arrange for a tea wa6 in the PB - I'd kick in a few virtual bucks for that :-)
not cold hearted, ruby, you just sound worn out.
I call the crazy doc "alien chipmunk with OCD on drugs."
aha. give her a cookie, it might help.
Actually, summer makes me feel peppy. I love the heat
Molly, if you're on b now, would you mind sending me your email? Yousaid kind things abt my books the other day. I can send you something.
Or maybe some acorns
That's her nickname from me because she is almost totally indecipherable. Worst I've heard in 40 years.
my email is jjack1@uis.edu
i had a resident once that had blood sugar swings, and he'd have mood changes worse than a pregnant teenager with caffeine withdrawls. I started keeping a stash of snacks to slip him.
She is in Colorado and I'm in Arizona...don't think I could throw a cookie or an acorn that far! If I could, I'd be tempted to throw something a LOT HEAVIER directly at her!!
ahah. oh well. You could ups her a package of oreos?
mimi, you are very patient! Probably a good thing the two of you are not in the same state :-)
Or a venomous snake....
no mimi! You might hurt the snake!
Good point, jes!
clue for the left column o please?
when I was in college one of my little jobs was transcribing psychoanalytic sessions for my psychology prof. He was writing a book about his schizy patient, so I can imagine
OG 4/7
Don't have any choice, sue..need the job. Luckily, I mostly do one of the other drs. who is a dream to transcribe. There just isn't any excuse for alien doc to dictate that badly...it's unprofessional and stupid considering she's the one who gets sued if there's a mistake.
o +leg og4/7
og4/7, rolo, weird word but there aren't many possibilities that give that score
Got it, ty!
thanks ruby and sue
hah, I thought of a clue : o + group of whales?
or is that a pod?
think it is a pod
mimi, I know you need the work - good thing most of it is not crazy-making!
I think it's a pod, ruby
Yep--that's a pod, ruby.
Is it a collective oun for anything?
noun*
Good to see everyone today and now off to crazytown for a few hours....bye and hugs again...really going this time!
bye mimi
and then there's the funny ditch
half way!
just looked it up, ruby, you are right! It is used for a group of whales! I never knew that.
thank yo, sue, it was tucked away in an obscure corner of my brain
You can also call a group of whales a herd or a mob.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_collecti\nve_nouns
bummer, I thought that might work if I left the http off, but no such luck
tinyurl.com/5msv4o
hello everyone :) hi lizmac
hi foffle!
hi uusue
hi foffie
hiya ruby
is ag7 built off of ag4?
20 left but that's enough for today Good night everybody
time for a bit of breakfast, bbs
yes jes
ooh, ty for the ag7!
sleep sweet, ruby
goodnight ruby
my monkeys don't like that word apparently... any clue for what I add to the ag4?
leave the o off until the end....
ah, there it is. thanks, foffle
great :)
a's axed :)
ok, back with breakfast :-)
wtg
(and yes, it's a late breakfast, I am enjoying my retirement!)
good for you! what's for breakfast?
yogurt, fresh strawberries, and cereal (I buy a soy cereal that is high in protein and fiber)
and herbal tea, I have been ordered off caffeine, sadly
sounds good yummmm
crossy turns up his nose - not enough bacon :-) - but I like it
he would
I love bacon and eggs, but can't eat like that every day
*Weeps for Sue about the caffeine*
but I love bacon too
and the strawberries are quite nice
thanks, molly, I have sort of gotten used to it. Sort of.
I've been ordered off caffiene too and ignoring it completely
I am down to one cup a day, in the morning, but I would be lost without that.
Well, my blood pressure was through the roof for a while so I really did need to get it under control
have never liked caffeine nad love my herbal teas - try some different kinds until you find a favorite
it's better now, though, so I do cheat every now and then, but not every day
at least you can sleep in while coming off the caff :)
that is true, jes :-)
would suck to shake the addiction while working mornings
And I'm the same way about bacon and eggs. I couldn't eat that way every day.
oooh I could!
well, I was working at the time, but that was when they'd hired me back after I retired the first time; I couldn't be full time (75% max) so the 25% I cut was the first couple of hours in the morning :-)
Well Foffle, I could, because I love the taste, but I can't because of the fat and cholesterol.
t's tossed
wise plan, sue :)
you're doing way better than me jes
n's nicked
go jes!
lickety's helping, foffle :)
m's mashed
I'm just not good at this - takes me forever
at least it's only sort of timed :)
I give up when I get bored
listing...
....just about to happen
That is why this is the only word game I fool with. I can take my time and find words whenever I can take a break for a few minutes. No rush, like with the timed games.
I'm with you, Molly, I don't do well with things that have short time limits
c's crushed
me either. cna't stant rush, rush
g's gone
buy, I am making up a lot of words that Enable is taking for some reason

ah. how is the grid?
Hi Molly. Guess what?
??
I got a job interview! Next Wednesday
Very good. What kind of job?
Oncology Unit at Berkly Hospital in WV
Wow, that is a long commute.
I think it will be about an hour.
I can't commit to that kind of a commute. Especially when it takes me north into bad weather, in the winter.
yeah, but I got to get experience somehow. And at this point it is just an interview...
I hope it goes well for you.
thanks. I haven't had an interview in like 20 years, so, it should be interesting. In the past I would get very anxious about an interview. Hopefully I have matured and it wont be so bad now.
*sending good wishes your way, phan*
Thanks, Penquis.
Ah, phand doesn't need good wishes, she's got this job for sure. *confident mama look* *looks sternly at phand* You'll be GREAT!
and hello all
Thank you, Stidmama.
:-D
hmph. the grid is tougher than I thought it would be.
oh. I see why. No S no E *sigh* When will I learn to look before I leap?

it's okay, I think the clue was marvelous
my gram used to call them that to make us laugh
okay, now that I am really and officially NBT I am going to chase down the kiddo and get him home before he is too tired to work tomorrow. These young people, think they can party all night and still be fine to do manual labor in the morning. *shakes mama head sadly*
