cooee and g'day from me
hello rose!
hey ya saanichcat. are you good today?
oh yes, but fading fast here. How about your good self?
just sitting here on the group W bench....citing alice's restaurant.....
it would be very late for you? saanichcat?
sounds like a grannyrose thing to do!
It is just after 12:30 (night)
*giggle* have you ever heard alice's restaurant as recited by arlo guthrie?
are you getting everything you want?!
it's a classic
too late, dear. i have to be in bed early tonight. have to be up and out the door by 8:15 tomorrow morning. ugh!!
tomorrow, saanichcat, tomorrow all will be revealed.
good luck with that! and I'm off to bed, goodnight! Fun game
sweet dreams de4
I'm back. Do you have tests tomorrow, Rose?
wb peach. tomorrow i start the first of 4 infusions of magnesium as part of my therapy for FM. that's in the morning
in the afternoon, the union rep and i are going to the meeting with my employer.
I will say one for you, 'm dear.
oh, thanx so much. that means a lot to me. xoxox
did you see in chat yesterday about the pre-op ortho surgeon's report, the one that workcover sent me to?
No, I missed it. Is in you profile?
not yet, but a good thought. in a nutshell, he said i was not to return to work for 6-9 months, and then at much reduced hours, non-weight bearing duties. workcover forced me back to work at 5 months, and expected me to work normal duties for 4 hours.
the insurers are in it up to their necks and they are sinking fast.
Oh, that sounds good.....now they have to abide by his word. Good for you!
i now have 5 medical reports, all of which cite my FM. how can workcover say they have never heard of it? 4 of the reports are from THEIR doctors.
That is so awful!
and my last IME( independent medical exam) says i have a permanent disability in the knee. but he says in his summary, that the compensible injury has run its course. and i'm going...huh???
if i have a permanent disability in the knee, then workcover need to keep on paying for my physio and hydro at least. i feel i am going backwards over the last 2 weeks. no physio, no hydro, no work...ugh
Do you have legal representation?
you betcha! through my union...so there are no costs involved. my union picks up the bill.
That is great.
good morning all :) And wow rose, good stuff.
whoot, spritey!! xoxoxoxoxoxox
*hugs* my dear friend
my de4 friend, have you had an okay night?
rose, if I may make a suggestion: don't put your work info in your profile just yet. You want to have as few places where it is in writing as possible, until it has been presented to work.
i hear you de4....sage advice as always.
yeah, it was ok. Nothing too horrible. More or less as expected after the financial stuff. Which, I am proud to say, we managed to solve more or less, for now.
oh, oh, oh....I HEAR YOU!!!
:D
so glad re finances, darling. it is so depressing with everyone putting out their hands for your money. * sigh *
too true. And my finance phobia doesn't help either. Now, the only big thing that remains undone is the obligatory car check. So I hope we can do that next month, and that we won't get a fine for not doing it earlier.
i think i have been quite circumspect. i have never mentioned my employer or the hospital where i work.
no you haven't. But for determined assholes, it takes only a few clues to put things together. So... just be careful, ok?
yeah, i hear you....but i have never mentioned the name of the insurers involved, or the doctors involved. so, with my back to the wall, i am hoping i have it covered.
and tomorrow afternoon, things will be on the table, so that is soon.
sprite, i have tr5 so hard to be neutral about all this. including not being specific about names. *keeping in mind what you told me about another babbler*
yes honey. I don't mean to scare you. Just reminding you that some people are nasty enough to scan through all babble chogs to find sh*t. Don't worry, tomorrow afternoon it will all be behind you, it will be on the table and you can start watching them cover their skinny asses.
* hands over the huggies to management* ...lolol
*giggles* Exactly.
Hello everyone :-) Sprite do you mean like an MOT for the car? And what do you mean by a fine?
morning, zooz. how are you this day?
hi zooz :) I don't know what a MOT is. Here, we are obligated to have our cars checked once a year, on prescribed points. If you don't, you get a fine, you have to pay money in punishment.
I am well thank you, rose :-) Hope you are too!
good law, sprite, if you can afford it...over here there are too many cars on the roads which would fail a roadworthy check.
Yes it is the same for checks here once the car is over three years old they have to have safety checks called an MOT (Ministry Of Transport)
ah ok, zooz, yeah that is the same thing then. Here it is called APK.
Not sure what happens if you do not get it done though. Here I am sure you get more than a fine. You would get points on your driving licence too or your car might be taken away.
ahhh, don just said it is because of the salt used on your roads every winter.
is it? Never knew that.
They check things for tyre tread exhaust fume emissions wind screen wipers etc.
yeah, a whole list of points that have to pass.
well it sort of makes sense...salt is a corrosive
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOT_test
Just in case you wanted to bore yourself with the finer details..lol
they check for more than just salt damage though. Ah well, whatever the reason, it costs money we simply don't have atm.
Anyway i am diving back into the grid. Carry on ladies :-)
have fun, de4 zooz
hey!! who are you saying is carrying on???
roflol
my sweet dog is in the gr4.
lol you knew what i meant.cheeky :-)
come over here don....zooz says we have to carry on...
keep calm and carry on, isn't it?
Sorry to interrupt, I need a clue for pr8-45 so badly, Thanks
hi peach, love you to join us, actually
((Peach))
Hey there, sprite and zooz.
np's peach. pr8, pr + alien who phoned home+ vowel + i know what my **gh*s are, what i am entitled to have.
then plural for pr9
*pokes sprite in the eye so she can't see*....lololol
well thanks rose, wouldn't have found those two without extra help
Thanks for the PR8 & 9 Rose.
now I ask you, is that nice? All I get for my friendly thanks is a poke in the eye!
roflol. sooo hard....my head is almost on the keyboard...
Bloody charming, Sprite. I wouldn't talk to her anymore.
oh, de4...why do i talk to you lot???? now i have a stitch from laughing.
let's face it though... it isn't humanly possible to talk any more to her... unless we meet in the flesh... next year :D
then we will talk even more!
Thanks so much, rose.
oh, my darling sprite....don has been saving up sooo much...he almost has all needed to for our tr4.
hehehe, and peach is calm and to the point in all our madness.
Yeah more like she could poke you in the eye for real..I would watch her if i was you.
*remembers to buy goggles*
HEY!!! zooz....who rattled your chain???
lol
awesome, rose! He is wonderful.
*loves peach*....oh, and all of you, of course....xoxox
Teehee! now now, Rose..come on deep breaths...now hold...count to three and slowly exhale. There feel better?
see!!! someone likes me....pfft. ;-P
Back after several years, used to play everyday from 2004ish-20012ish, there used to be a link you could cut and paste your words into to help figure out what you had left, help please :)
someone would love you even better if her eye was still in the socket
Peach is sitting here in a little da4 and loving all of her peeps.
welcome back, alexis
lolol sprite...it was yummy...
well hello alexis
among the green Friends of Babble links, it is the Lickety's Babble Clues link, alexis.
Hello, alexis :-)
that's the one!! thanks all!!
enjoy alexis
sprite...have you ever been to a greek celebration of easter?
no, can't say I have
Thanks, Peach, that greyed out the D tile in the top left corner. embarrassed to say I missed that DA 4/10 until you sort of gave a clue..lol
the men just about kill each other for the privilege of eating the eyes of the spit-barbecued lamb...
Really? wonders if there is a youtube video of this madness?
personally??? i leave it to the menfolk...
um... ok. They can have the eyes, as far as I am concerned.
I am surprised you would leave it to the men folk, Rose.As you do have a thing about eyes and poking them and such?
:-)
lololllll
my SIL is of greek extraction...i.e. both her parents are greek. hence she makes the most wonderful greek delicacies. * married to my bro*
roflol...zooz
I am stepping away from the computer for a short while..need to make a cup of tea.
My peeps, it is 5:00AM here and I must head for my pillow. Blessings y'all.
hurry back, zooz
de4 peach, sleep well
egad peach...sweet dreams my de4.
*wonders what don would make of it, if i rolled over and booted up the laptop tomorrow at 5am when he starts his nightly performance*
ok I am somewhat sure you don't mean what I think you mean.
or rather early morning performance...
lolol, sprite...he rolls over and starts making the most weird noises with his lips....in his sleep
oh :D Ok, sounds good, get it on webcam!
and it is only when he breathes out...so technically it's not snoring. * sigh*
"Ok honey, from now on... don't breathe out!"
*giggle* yeah right
Back. Sweet sleep, Peach.
i usually give up. turn on the lamp and read. he rolls over, goes quiet, i turn off the lamp, he rolls back and starts again. * aaaggghhh*
But is that what you thought, Rose , Meant, Sprite. When you said you were not sure what, Rose means....Oh forget it that just does not make sense...lol
so don't turn off the lamp then
lolol, zooz....
no, my thoughts were kinkier than that
but then i can't sleep....
closer your eyes and pull the blanket over your eyes then?
Get ear plugs and eye mask that should do it.
or give Don a nice poke in the eye.
yeah, good thought. but the rush of air from the CPAP becomes audible. * sigh * i tr5 that.
Failing that sleep in seperate rooms.
LOL nice one, Sprite!
lolol, sprite
:)
just playing on rose's strengths
zooz!!! wash your mouth out....i need him beside me....which is why i try hard to not poke him.
This bloody computer is getting on my nerves..a lot of words like 'seperate' it keeps underlining to tell me I have not the correct spelling. But I do not know ho to turn it off.
is the cpap portable, rose? Can you bring it?
*poking in the eyes with a forked stick* is a strength?
I am washing it out now, Rose. With tea :-)
you could spell it correctly, like separate, and it won't underline it for you
np's sprite. it travels the world with me.
well rose... it is all a matter of context, of course...
good, then all is ok
zooz, do you have a windows or apple computer?
Oh geez now who looks stupid LOL
yeah. it is classified as medical equipment.
I am on windows 8.1
zooz, check this out: http://tinyurl.com/nk22pzg
Sprite. When I type in the add word box All the words I have ever put into it comes up as a list as I type as a kind of word suggesting thingy.Do you know how I turn that off too?
it gives the guide, with pictures.
Cool checking it out now.
first thing I do after installing windows or office... turning off the auto checker. Drives me bananas.
did we lose our rose to a squirrel or her meds?
OK back. Turned it off but it still does it.Maybe it is because I am using firefox.
Plus the auto correct is on so that does nnot work either clearly..lol
Yes I did wonder why you said squirrel now and again when, Rose was not responding..lol
Looks like, Sprite has gone AWOL too :-(
nope, my darling, just watching the chog to which i cannot add a knowledgible comment.
lolol yes, it means rose's attention span is rather short, all it takes is a squirrel passing by and off she goes. Joso started it.
no, I was trying to find you a website for the firefox issue
hahaha I like that!
*naughty joso*
Aww, Sprite you really are so kind.
Come on then where is it???
hmph!! pfft to you both!!
this should work: http://tinyurl.com/kq5nmwa
Wonder how, Joso, is doing these days.
joso is well and happy. settling into a basement flat at hisaunty and uncle's
ugh...his aunty...
for a moment, I wondered where Hisaunty was, lol
*giggle* xoxox sprite....
*hugs rose*
yay that seems to have cured the red squiggly lines!
fireflies
yay, well done zooz!
Congrats, Sprite!
WTG SPRITE!!!
Thanks for the Joso update, Rose.
np's zooz
*hugs to you both* Rose, I will be thinking of you and sending up prayers to the Big Guy. Wish I could be a fly on the wall. Or just a person at your side, for that matter.
and to all a blessed day and a peaceful night :)
Have a wonderful day, Sprite :-)
*giggle* sprite. either would be good. i hope your day is kind to you, my darling.
I am confident your day will go your way tomorrow, Rose :-)
thanx zooz.
zooz...is there any other way it could go? given that the workcover agents have acted so irresponsibility?
Well I am no expert, Rose, but I feel with all the evidence that your union has gathered it should be an easy decision for them to make.Albeit one the hospital would rather go their way.Like mentioned yesterday about excepting work back that is the only sticking point I feel they might be sneaky about.
I know you said about getting a written two & half year contract. But you need to mmake sure it does not entail work you might not be able to do.Would be a good idea to get someone on the leagal side to look over any new work contract with them.To make sure it is what you are manage etc.
can manage..not are manage..lol
i hear you zooz.
which is why i am letting the union rep handle it all.
OK time for me to go.Will try and finish later. ((Rose)) will look in some time tomorrow and see if you are here. If not just send me an email. You will be fine...Bye for now. And happy babbling everyone.
zooz. thanx for your support.
zoooz...you are among the first on my list of contacts...i hope your day is wonderful
and dinner is here...see you all later. xoxox
yummy...lamb mid-loin chops and vegetables...delish...meds ready.
good morning everyone:)
crossy...g'day mate
((rose)) how are you this fine morning?
crossy, i am doing well. and your good self?
doing fine and slowly coming alive:)
*giggle* know the feeling.
tomorrow is the BIG day...union rep meets management...should be very interesting.
Yes, I will all things go you way. Going to want a fill report when all is done. What time is the meeting your time?
and how is mrs crosssy? fine and dandy, i hope.
wish*

my beloved is fine and still abed

lucky mrs crossy....
We are all in your corner and rooting for you. You are in a rare position where bug business will not be able to steamroll you.. good, so by the time I awaken tomorrow it shall all be finished
big
morning all :-)
good luck vibes your way Rose :-)
i have a problem. when de4ly beloved rolls over, and faces me, i cannot fall asleep again. i8 hate to poke him and make him roll back. *sigh*
howdy wolvie
ooooh, wolvie...thanx so much.
the composers of the Enable dictionary have never been to a rodeo or they would know what a re+ri 4/5 is
I picture Mr. Enable as a fellow whose ship the R.M.S Dictionary sank from undrneath him in a violent storm at the turn of the last century and he and all his reference material has been adrift at sea ever since lol
underneath
crossy - would you mind not posting when I am trying to take a drink of water?
lol, I sometime have that effect on people:)
stats for the lone t in 3rd column, 3rd row?
i keep hitting every other t in the gr** :-)
te6/21
... think of a group of four
ty dose :-)
... Crossy, it's not myself I'm worried about, but I am sitting in front of the computer! ... Granny, if you could put a single sheet or beach towel under your bed-companion, you could do as they do in hospitals to turn someone without disturbing them: take the near edges of the sheet in your hands (as far apart as possible) and gently roll him back over. well, it was an idea ....
got it dose- ty :-)
... yw
lol...jwr...thank-you.....exactly how i would roll a patient.
granted, it's easier when you're standing up !!
but to do that, would require me to be more awake....
and at 5am.....i so want to be asleep...lolol
oh. right. I forgot that nurses never sleep. Wives should though, especially that sweet deep sleep before dawn. Good luck
xoxox jwr. you are so thoughtful....
nah, just a part-time night-shift worker who appreciates the days (nights) off
Hopeful the union rep or others can do all the fighting for you today so you won't have to
jwr, did my night shift part of my life about 20 years ago. now?? i am fighting for my day time shifts.
and now...i really need to go to bed...xoxox to you all. enjoy the gr4.
me too, granny -- the nightshifts now are all seated at computer and phone, and I don't get paid anymore but the sleep-in nights are still really precious.
jwr....yeah....so precious.
go snore, great rose. talk at you another night (or day) whenever/wherever you are
nite rose :-)
i have not seen rubyfoo or puglet,. i hope both of them are well.
good morning all
morning teach :-)

... never heard the word before ... it's a grammatical term
... p8 ... starts with before ... ends with not he/she

Morning

howdy, bichon
if my sister was not such a stickler i would not have known it. she is the queen of obscure :D
Hi crossy, hi Wolvie
hi bich
as it was i didnt see it without help lol
how is sukee this fine day?
Not bad, you? Getting read for the high humidity that is supposed to come today.

:-)
The cat knows, he is already out on the balcony in his bed.
ty for pr8/9 new ones for me too
well, 40c is hot for us:/
lol, for a second there i read that the cat had some bologna and was in your bed
lol
rats thought I had nbt but missing the bottom t, help pls
Morning! We had relief for a few days but now going back to 109 degrees...ugh. Only a month or so to go before this is over, however.
morning mimi
((mimi))
nm
Hi, Wolvie!
hi mimi
bbl
((crossy))
Hi, peri!
you will laugh at this mimi. Our weather channel has issued a heat alert. it is to be 40c with humidex
i think that t has tr 5/10- plural of tr 4/4 above it peri
Crossy...I watched someone make bacon yesterday in the oven with brown sugar and cayenne pepper...looked good.
that is how the royals enjoy their bacon I am told:)
Yes, that's very funny, crossy..
And a woman is coming to clean my house today, I better get those fans going :)
ooh- i make a messy appy that is bacon with a bit of mustard spread over then brown sugar- quite good tho lol
I've made it in the oven with the brown sugar before and it is delicious but never put cayenne in the mix...going to try that as soon as I can get a loan to buy bacon again....
you guys in the hot zones must think of 40c as a lovely break from the heat
mm, making crossy hungry
bacon is expensive here as well $6 for 3/4 of a pound!!
taking a bit of a break- bbs
Beef is also terribly expensive so I rarely get it. I haven't had a steak in, literally, years.
Bye, Wolvie!
A roast of around a pound and a half, nothing fancy is 15-20 dollars. i cannot make it work in the food budget
I don't know if you've had this experience but the last roast I did get was tough even though I used the slow cooker...what's up with that?
I actually took it back to the store and got my money back!
Well, at least today is supposed to be the only really hot day. We can survive :)
I'm off for breakfast, see you later
Bye, sukee~
I need to get my day started...lots of work to do. Bye, crossy!
I try to never buy cheaper cuts of roasts that are tied together with string. i read once that the practice now is to take bits and pieces of beef, spray it all with an enzyme solution and tie it all together and in effect artificially "grow" a roast
tc ((mimi))
I find one like that tough and with gristly parts no matter how i cook it
Years ago I used to buy a whole beef tenderloin roast and make half as a roast and then make country fried steak medallions with the rest. I can't do that now, for sure.
I have slowly been adding more fish to my meal plans anyways for the 20 dollars a medium grade small roast costs, i can get lots of fish fillets
mmmm, would cost a fortune now, mimi
I see the good meat in the butchers "special" display case... $55!!! for a bloody roast!
OK--now I'm hungry! I love fish but don't dare buy it "fresh" here except for one (expensive) store we have. Somehow buying fresh fish in the desert seems like a bad idea.
I'm getting pork tenderloin now and it's delicious and not fatty.
Last time I bought a pork roast, i was badly dissapointed
We are more fortunate here with fish sources
had an excellent pork roast last night
lol, mimi. you buying fish is like us buying fresh fruit in the winter. By the time it gets to us it has been ripening on a truck for two weeks and has 2500 miles on it
I only get the strip of tenderloin or sometimes pork loin roast and they're usually fine. I coat them in either a teriyaki glaze or BBQ sauce and roast for about 30 minutes. Very tender.
this was a pork loin roast
I love pork tenderloin with steamed brussels sprouts...great combo. I put butter and a bit of cheese on the sprouts.
help with I on the bottom row please
mmm, Brussel snouts
OK...breakfast time and then to work. Have a good one and hugs to all.
tc ((mimi))
nm
I have no id** what clue you might need, WV
thnx dawger

Before I go, wanted to mention that new studies are showing vitamin D deficiency can predispose to Alzheimer's. Glad I started taking supplemental D3 a few months ago!
I'd be willing to bet that there's a lack of D in the Canadian climate.
I would agree with you
Though today is bright and sunny
I remember reading that there was a big issue with this in the 1940's at which time they started adding vit D into the milk
and tanning came into vogue
It's ironic that I live in a climate with LOTS of sun and I must be careful not to get out in it much and to use sunscreen since I'm quite fair and burn easily.
Tanning is just such a bad idea...don't understand why people want to fry their skin!
so cancer if you venture out in that type of exposure and Alzheimer's if you do not:(
my third cancer was melanoma, i do not suffer fools who lay out in the sun and bake
Taking the supplemental D will surely help. I actually take several supplements. I researched and found the ones I thought would be beneficial to me. Time will tell, I guess.
I take great delight in showing sun worshippers the scars on my belly
Though, if you'll remember, my son said if I ever get Alzheimer's they won't be able to tell the difference.
as Baz Lundrum said wear sunscreen!
this is true. it is like losing your mind. do not worry as you will never know it:)
I had a squamous cell carcinoma on my cheek just under my eye. Had it removed and plastic surgeon grafted skin from my ear love over it. He did a great job. He thought it came about due to a really bad sunburn I got many year ago.
For now, i take a multi-vitamin and a bucket load of vitaminc
But the kicker to that was my regular doctor didn't think it was anything! I was the one who sought out the dermatologist!
Mine came as a result of being bare chested on a construction site for 5 summers showing off my bronzed body to the ladies as they passed by:)
You are your best doctor sometimes
MOST of the time!
OK...really need to get going. ((crossy))
they (the doctors) must hear so may" boy who cried wolf" symptoms that they become jaded to it all and sometime miss an important diagnosis

Hello kids.
howdy, scrabby
hi, nan, scrabs, crossy, et.al
howdy lbd
hello!
Hi phandmd
you know what makes me mad?
hi dawger
What, ph?
there's only one thing?
howdy phand
people that buy alcohol for minors@
!!!
Yes! Bad decision!
agreed
well, Cybernan, there are probably a lot more than one thing, but I am angry about one thing right now
I just found that word in the gr4, Crossy.
some did that for my son!
lol, off to the pb I go
someone...
tadone!! finito! whoot
how old is your son?
and more than once!
19
uh oh:(
here, the drinking age is 19
used to be 18 when I was young
here it is 21
Did your son ASK the person do do it?
yes, of course.
states used to determine age or drinking, then the feds stepped in and said, all at 21 or no federal road money.
which is bad enough, but for the idiot to do it is just wrong!
hope the idiot who bought the booze for your son get caught, phan.
I hope so too, lbd.
was your son hanging out at the store asking people to do it for him?
oh yes, I should read the chog:/. things are busy round here this morn
I guess. He is passed out right now, but he had confessed prior to passing out that was how he got the booze.
:(
A lesson for your son.
I have a son who is 20 going on 15, so i can relate. he is not ready for drinking or the bar scene by any means
His friend just turned 19 and wanted to take him bar crawling and I had to put the hammer down on that!
problem is, Scrabbler, that this isn't the first time. He told his father today, before passing out, that he is sad. He is sad because he doesn't have many friends, a girl friend and school isn't going as well as he thought it would.
So true, Crossy, about "20 going on 15." Adolescent males are dopey. I have three adolescent nephews, 20, 24, and 26. They went brain dead at 13 and I am waiting to see glimpses of maturity.
My wife says that happens around age 45 or so...
well, god gave us two heads but only enough blood for one at a time:)
groan
hello again
sorry phand. i stole that line
wb mlf
It's true though...
ty cross
well, thanks for letting me vent.
life is funny. first 15 years of marriage it was me running around with my tail wagging and my tongue hanging out all the time, but now that my beloved is in her 40's and we enter our 21st year of wedded bliss it is Crossy that dispenses and withholds!!! power!! power!! mwahahaha!.. though she did ask about a cabana boy the other day...
Silly, Crossy.
I know:)

cr 7/45 is it similar to the 7/40?
I managed to skip all the horrible operating systems. i sarted with 98SE then went right to xp pro and from there to win7
I have Windows on this laptop which I got last November. I don't really utilize 8 the way it was intended. I learned how to do what I want.
Aaargh, matey, I found pi6 and pi7.
ty scrabby
i found those a while ago scrab lol
ty Scrabbs.
my other computer crashed, had 7 on it. new one has 8.1, it's not bad, i'm not in love with it. however, somehow, there's an audio commercial that comes on and is very annoying. I can't figure out where it's coming from.

hi ana

ty, lbd
is the cr8/45 an extension of another cr word?
ut5= wombs
ty scrabby
and ur6 = anatomical structure from kidney to urinary bladder
ty again scrabbs
Ugh, telemarketer...*click*
I bet they all need therapy at the end of their shifts:)
Repeated rejection all day, everyday.
Nothing like cold-calling people for 8 hours a day trying to sell crap that nobody wants
are the ut words similar in area of the body of the ur?
only in that the first three letters are the same
I answered Buon giorno, thinking it was my mother.
scrab you are a telemarketer?
no, they are not, nm me
No, not I, MLFAN.
lol, scrabby doctors our little people

I am a pediatrician, MLFAN.
i hve the ut 5
okay i got the ut 5/12 and the ut7/32
At 105/150 I must get going. I need to get my mother some large-print books at the library then go to the supermarket to get everything on her list.

It's probably the one that is an abbreviation for a mathematical term
ahh the four sided one

i think there are tropical fish by that name as well
people like them for the aquariums
but it has been a long time since I have kept live fish
taking a break - bbl
at least the two z words came easily enough:)
oh really? lol
one is a greek letter and the other is the former name of the Congo

lol got it. great clue word:)
or lines in shalebeds where you get the best pickings for fossils
hmm, I found the st7 version but not the 8
and what about that lonely t?
just pt it ruby
duh moi
the lone t is the aquariaum fish or a math term that has to do with fours
and add a cons to that for te6
it seems to be a polygon with 4 sides
hah, the consonant gave me the lone t. The t5 comes from elsewhere
or a group of 4 people?
well, as long as i got you home it is all good

Slow..
Afternoon folks
howdy bichon
Now it is time for crossy's quote of the day!!
"But how could you live and have no story to tell?"- Fyodor Dostoyevsky
It's 4 PM and I only have 24 words.
it is ok, unless your turn into a pumpkin at 5pm:)
... it's not a hard one today
it is one of those slow but steady type of grid
ice cream truck is going by , playing jingle bells!
Crazy busy day
crossy, I have been playing the slow and steady game all day with little to show for it.
the words drip slow but steady as if from a leaky tap; you never die of thirst but you are always parched:.. hey, that is not bad :)
howdy jaxx:)
I may have to use that:))
Bich, you are right about the crazy day. Picture a hospital lift. To one side are my husband and I, at the other is a trolley with a badly injured man being admitted to the wards. From the blankets come two hands and an I- phone and the badly injured one is sending a text!
Very erudite, crossy.
It is like having a bunch of little old ladies sitting by the side of the road wielding little hammers and banging away on giant boulders; it takes a long time but eventually you get sand.. :) I stole that from somewhere. Not sure where:)
lol. Must forgive me. i have had my mind buried in my novel most of the day
Mine was just ordinary errands and doggie demands
our pets train us well:)
last thing I would want to be doing is bleeding my life out onto the floor of a hospital while fighting the auto-correct feature in my d**n iphone lol
I am still working my way through the clutter. No treasure, sadly
then you know the rule; Display, use it or if it has not been used in 6 month then off to the yard sale it goes!
Can you tell Mr. Bich that
Of course, I am one to talk. I have my old typewriter sitting on a shelf where it has not moved an inch in at least a decade...
I am keeping a record of the silly, dangerous things I see. Like the young lady who was putting her hair up in a ponytail with both hands while driving her car through rush hour traffic. Not surprisingly, the car veered across to the other lane. How she managed to regain control was a mystery.
A very good holding hair spray I would imagine:))
This is too exhausting. bbl
The 6 month mantra is one that my neighbour lives by. She can't read so no books or magazines around the place. She has 4 dogs instead which are only let out into the back garden and never go for a proper walk. The dogs rule OK?
perhaps Elnett? lol.
whay cannot she read any books?
books are life; they do not count in the 6 month rule:0
No. Her husband is the same. I have to read her mail to her. I helped her buy her house as well.
ahh tad illiterate?
She finds my collection amusing. Imagine not being literate.
teach her to read. it is am amazing feeling when you see them "get it" and take off
I shudder at the mere thought. books were my escape as a child:)
She isn't interested. her vocabulary is restricted to swear words and other profanities.
Has no interest whatsoever? wow
... you were in the writer's craft class crossy ... how many of those kids can read? ... or should I say "read well" ... I see them every day at school ... there's a large number of kids everyday who are functionally illiterate and who don't care
about 60% are functional readers only. they read what they must and no more
the most they read at home is the side of a cereal box
... and that was a class with student's looking to write ... okay ... looking to get a credit that someone told them waa easy .. ... wait to you get to the general population
Actually that was for ENG3C and ENG4C college classes. My university writers craft class starts on Sept second
Exactly and this is Lin. She is a fantastic person, once you get past the profanity! The last year I was working in a High School 1 in 4 couldn't read and a further 1 in 4 just about.
I cannot wait:))
... 3U and 4U classes aren't a lot better ...
I know, and you are correct dose. They think it is all a free ride
Lifelong Learning, crossy. It keeps you young and your brain still working
.. as long as mom and dad keep a roof over them and the fridge is full
indeed jaxx:)
They have no work ethic.
well, this time around i will not have them dragging me down in group projects. Only myself and one other were offered this class
I was a lifelong Learning rep for my trade union. Hard to get busy people interested.
We will have our own aREA AND WILL BE FREE TO DO OUR OWN THING.. WITHION THE COURSE GUIDELINES OF COURSE
sorry caps
crossy's fat fingers
I can 'hear' you crossy. No need to shout! lol
yes, it is going to be EWC4U, dose:)
lol, jaxx
Quite an exclusive course then.
well, I guess there was a cut -off grade average, but they did not tell me what it was. so the two of us will be taking up space in the ENG4c classroom so we can pick the teachers brain at need
... I'm surprised at a class of 2 ... board funding formulas and all that ... I'd watch for a bunch of Victory Lappers being dumped in or perhaps Returners ...
Saves being on the road all day driving to a campus
they are lumping us in with the 3c's dose
or 4C's i mean
... okay ... that will make up the number ...
that way they get their count for funding and we save $
The teacher had to agree to ti. She will have her head full of #c and 4C and we will be a distraction at times i am sure
to it*
3C*
what are 3C and 4C?
... she'll give you the assignment each week, wend you to the computer lab or library then talk to you at break or after class
I had never heard of the "victory lappers" until last year. Was stunned at first
... Ontario teacher speak ... "3" means high school junior ... "4" is senior ...
I am sure you are right, dose
ok
college prep english peri
"C" is supposed community college bound stream while "U" is supposedly university bound
as dose says;)
... well when you and I were there it was called Grade Fourteen
bbs
My sons friend did a "victory lap" so he could wait for his GF to graduate, then they were off to college together
Sounds very complex to a Brit
... lots of reasons ... some of them are actually very good ... most often it is picking up two credits in the fall semester
yes, it is either that or the adlult learning centres
... well you've got "O" and "A" levels and I've never understood those
We don't have them now, dose.
darn typos. I blame it on tired fingers. Added 3000 words to the tome of the ages today:)
not to mention endless editing on earlier sections:)
... in Ontario now ... there are four years of high school (used to be five) ... and because all the courses are individual courses there really aren't grades anymore ... if you fail a course you just take the course over again ... not the entire year.
Many disagree but I like breaking my novel into three sections. i can be in my 3rd section and generating new parts of the tale, but if it is a type of day where the words just simply will not come, I can go back to a earlier section and edit and wait for inspiration
We have Post General Certificate of Education, taken at 16, AS level (exam at the end of first year of post 16) can be added to an A level taken at 18 to get a better grade.#
... actually three streams (and I know that's a bad word but it's the only one I can remember) ... courses are at a level that is aimed for kids going to university (U) or intending to go to a community college (C) or straight to the workplace (L) ... in theory you could take a mix but the universities don't accept "C" level courses in their count of credits for admission ... and "L" levels are for kids who really should never have been let out of elementary school
My son is going back to upgrade himself this year. he has the High school certificate only and i said you may wish more options that that provides..
It is hard to get a range of subjects to give you the widest choice of careers.
as is my beloved
it can be, jaxx. You sort of have to have a rough idea about which direction your inner compass is pointing
... that's a great reason for going back ... ... depends how many credits they need ... ... I've seen kids who are just afraid to leave ... ... Staying back for the girl friend isn't
You never know what opportunities will come your way once you leave full time education.
... and the directional compass can change so you decide to take an extra year ... great reason
My schooling last year for example, was the inspiration for my novel which is now 3/4 finished and should be all polished by christmass
Well, gentlemen, I am going to take a break as this grid is getting me down. bbl
Now i may not fill my bank account with money over it, but it is fulfilling nonetheless
tc jaxx
and like you hear all the time; "it is the voyage and not the destination that can bring the most joy"
and yes, I am paraphrasing:)
Hi
howdy, curi
... and done ... 20% of the praise be to lickety ... doesn't sound like so much that way but it's still 50 words off the list ... ... may I offer a clue for anyone? ...
congrats, doseffing! am down to 44 and still avoiding the list, have a feeling I'll be looking at it soon, (-: trying to see how far I can get sans clues or list
thought "derrier" was good, but obviously not
... yeah ... I'm usually around 80% now ... been doing a bit better of late ... good luck
hi all back to finish- well try lol. dont know what to ask for dose - down to 50 left- will have to list soon i suspect
wow, that is great.. I usually aim for 75%
first st 7/32 plz
... well you're already into the 80s today ... 51 is 80%
yup, I divide 4 into the total.. 63, so am happy.. a gauge of how difficult the grid is if I can't reach the goal
... trying again ... past tense of what you've done when you mix something up in a pot on the stove
ty dos, i was going wrong way..didnt see double consonant
... and the 7/28 is the person who does it ... or the thing they do it with
often I miss plurals, so when I go back over the grid.. just found one.. and past tenses too.. ty for that clue.. I missed the pt!
ah yes ty again.. :)
... I only missed three plurals today .... and one singular for a plural which I had entered
super duper.. think I'm going to the list now at 42.. have other stuff to do, like watch the national news
... always the way ... but I think I'll start dinner now too ... barkeep! an aperitif for everyone! ... bon soir et a bientot ...
hi everyone - back for another stab at this
ohh, I hate missing easy ones like ae5.10! well, it is a bit curly

And good evening Babblers

Hi Nan - hope you are recovering well from your op.
(I'm actually eating nan right now)
Yum - love Indian food

st
No good reason really. But I'll stick with my toast and marmite!
yes -everything is going really well, thanks, liz
ooooo... not a fan of marmite... I try it every time I'm over there, but just can't acquire thattaste
The UK ads play along the lines of "you either love it or hate it"! I've always loved it and would have to import it from the UK if I couldn't get it here!
Glad to hear that, nan.
My hubby describes marmite as "axle grease"
they sell it in stores here, in the "foreign" food sections - lol
lol!
what is marmite? - sounds suspiciously like a pesky rodent
Marmite is a yeast based salty spread for bread or toast. Also sometimes used as a flavouring in stews.
it is cyber! ; )

Marmite is best on butter!
You use it spread very thinly.
I'll stick to jam or honey, ty
Enjoy!

In this case, torgone is right. torgone will also now start talking about himself in the third person ..

torgone is buoyed by your laughter ..
glad to boost your spirits!
Tor, you know what they say about people who talk in the third person : D
*taking notes*....
torgone does not know what they say ..
torgone does sense, however, that he may already be getting annoying ..
*jotting that down*....
Pen, are you taking notes for your novel? "One Flew Over The Fruitcake"
hah....it's an occupational hazard....observing behavior...
torgone would like to read that book ..
i would be more likely to write up a case study for a psych journal than to write a novel!
Oh my Pen, you must have a field day here
heh heh....i always say that i don't evaluate adults... ;o)
but all that means is that i don't share my perceptions, lol....
