June 29th, 2016: Today is a big day! My beloved, my better half, my partner in life, my Elegant, graduates today!! As some of you may know, she went back to school after a 26 year gap. During that time, we raised a fine son together, and a lot of water has run under the bridge as it were. However, going back to finish her high school credits and to garner some college prerequisite credits has always been a dream of my beloveds, and today this dream comes true! I will post some pictures later today on my blog at crosshairmusings.webs.com after the ceremonies or most likely tomorrow. I am so proud of her; it is a happy hubby moment!
June 30th, 2016: As promised, there are graduation pictures of my beloved up on Facebook now for those who are interested. it was a special day for my special lady.
July 28th, 2016: R.I.P Cathy "Mimicat" Harding. I will fondly remember our discussions together as well as your warm heart and sharp mind with great fondness. :(
August 12th, 2016: For those who do so, please say a prayer for speedy and pain-free release for my father who was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer a month and a half ago. The doctors called and said that he may not make it till days end. He was not a perfect father, but he made me who I am today, and I choose to remember the good times we shared. I wish could be with him as he prepares to take his final journey to the next stage, but he no longer even knows his own sons. I love you dad.
Alan Richard Melbourne -- June 14, 1943 - August 12, 2016. Dad passed away, peacefully and painlessly in his sleep at 7:30 eastern time this morning.
In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider a donation to the Canadian or American Cancer Societies in his name.
October 2nd, 2017--My heart goes out to all those affected by the latest shooting massacre in the U.S. My own brother and his family live but a mile or two from the scene, but they are safe. Prayers to the families of all those killed.
January 28th, 2020:-- My god, 2020, who would have thought that there was even such a date?
As I get older I get begin to get this feeling that I have become a time traveller of sorts.

Sounds funny, eh?
I enjoy my work at a local big box store--though it becomes more of a physical struggle with each passing year, and with the exception of one work mate, all the rest of my fellow employees are in their 20's and their 30's.
I have great fun talking about technology with them, and telling them what we did for entertainment back in the day;16-track reel to reel players, 8-track tapes, cassette tapes, and laser disk movie players are all but unkown to them.
I talk to them about the dubious joys of splicing four 15 minute, 16 mm tapes together to get an hour of music on a single recording and their eyes glaze over. I mention to them the enjoyment of a finely made pinball machine and they laugh at the old fella, and say to me "O.K, boomer."
I share with them my love of music, tell them of my record collection, and the sublime experience of listening to Floyd's The Wall album on my old quadrophinic stereo system, and they just do not get it.
I believe it is good that people get older so that they can become historians and teach the young about what once was. We become a library of sorts, a book--caretakers of history so that others may learn from us.
Perhaps it is a good job after all.
Bring on 2020; my book is older, my story grows longer, and more pages are added to my tale as I pick up my trusty old pen once more, and write on this new blank page that sits before me.
Happy 2020, my babbler friends. Enjoy the blank page that sits before you. May it be filled with new adventures, and written with love, laughter, and joy.
