Hi Nan

Pugs that's scary news, I am sorry. What can you do that would get you in shape for surgery?
I dont really know Saan. I go friday to see about that
all my best wishes go with you
Hopefully they'll have something constructive to say and your surgery can be rescheduled.
hopefully it won't be "we're pumped you can have your surgery"
thanks Saan and I hope so too Liz--I dont feel that bad really
thanks Ru---I'm really looking forward to being cut on--lol
I really can't help myself.. with the lame jokes

Me too!
thanks you too. I'm a mush-brain tonight I think, especially compared to pros
this is suddenly a tougher grid
Finding this grid quite tough!
Again, Ru! Stop reading my mind.
so the pros are finding it tougher than it looks as well?
There's a verb in the grid that ruru wil have no trouble finding...
As long as you're not including me in that statement, saani.
*puts tin foil hat on*
you bet I am Liz! And ru is probably down to his last 20 words and whining
I'm only just over half way and struggling.

Hi ya Rose! hugs and hi
{{hugs}} miz pugs any more news yet?
nope--I go this friday---you back yet?
yup, home again. slept like a log last night.
first night back? Sounded like you had a wonderful time and had some great eats too
oh yeah. we have been wined and dined to the nth degree.
how is your sister doing? how is Carol doing?
you and Don sure needed that--how is the house coming along
stationary at the moment. we are having temps in the 30's here.
we are having a little warm spell right now, in which I'm glad. That pretty cold for you Rose
lol, 30C pugs.... 86 F
lol--oh sorry--well pass some of that this way
its going to be in the 50's here and that seems like a heat wave-lol
pugs, i did ask about your sister and Carol...how are they doing, hun?
right now Barb is doing well and Carol is not. She came today and had me go clean with her and I dont know what to do to help her through this awful thing.
I'm sorry I didnt write back Rose. I know I owe you a letter
exactly what you are doing, pugs. contact her everyday so that she really knows that at least one person cares what she is doing. try and visit when you can, or have her over to your house.
we just have no answers to why--I think thats the worse of it all. The viewing was so bad. She hung on to me the whole time and wouldnt let me go.
and you will probably never will dear. your role now is to build Carol back up, keep telling her it was NOT her fault.
I know its going to take time for her and I will be here for her---its all one can do in something like this. Her spirit is just gone and I'm worried about her.I am so glad she has the little girl, that gives her reason to keep going on
yes, the lass should be Carol's focus right now.
Rose, I'm getting tired for I've been up all night. So glad I got to talk a bit to you. Please tell Sprite hi and I send love and hugs to you guys and night everyone.
okay, pugs. hope you catch some quality sleep, dear. hugs and xxxxx
dinner ready. will be back in about 20 minutes. xoxox
good morning
good afternoon all
so close to vinyl
and monday
*rubs eyes with disbelief* I DID IT!!! stayed until my darling appeared. {{hugs}} sprite
ohhh rose :) Sooo glad to see you. Am sorry, I had a very late night and slept in wayyy too long. Missed our pugs. And almost missed you too.
how was your trip, dear friend, and how was the journey home?
yeah pugs sent her hugs and love to you, sweetie.
will write her an email, right after babble.
the trip home just about wiped me out....lol. i realised when my face hit the keyboard it was time for bed.
lol! I know that feeling. Traveling is so taxing. But nothing a good sleep won't cure. How are you feeling now?
not too bad....triumphant that i managed to stay up until you came on. i couldn't miss another 2 nights in a row. unthinkable....lol
Hallo, and hugs, ladies :)
hehehe I am ever so sorry for sleeping in. Never used to do that. Either meds or old age... or both... lol
hello Liz :) You are on my list for an email as well.
i have also realised that the extra magnesium in the afternoon leads to frantic dashes to the loo. so if we are travelling, i have to skip that dose.
whoot!!! {{hugs}} liz girl
right. Things just can't ever be easy, can they?
What a lovely welcome.
Your journey home sounded very long, Rose.
that's because you are very welcome here, lovely Liz
missed ya girl...
Blushing now.
Saw Pugs briefly earlier - she was very quiet.
Talia is in the grid :)
Saw that early on :)
we have just watched a special on tv. how countdown affected ABBA's success on the world stage. have been singing my lungs out, despite eyebrow waggling and startled looks from don.
But now Tad and Blade are deeply lost in the rainforest.
I love ABBA. I can sing practically every song of theirs, letter perfect.
and now they talking about CCR...omg the memories
LOL Rose - we've been watching a US series called Gracepoint, which we're enjoying.
oh god yes... made to crash there... thank God they are such an amazing team.
We also have been watching a Supertramp concert recorded in paris in 1979 - more my sort of music.
hmmmm, haven't seen that in our tv guide.
Heartstopping stuff, Sprite.
I like Supertramp as well.
It's on foxtel, Rose - Universal channel.
Dreamer and the Logical Song are among my favorites
and that is why we don't get it....don has a latin name...titus afishus arsis
Stars David Tennant, so definitely worth watching.
LOL!
good morning everyone:)
that one went right over my head, lol
I also like "School" and "Hide in Your Shell" I missed seeing them in concert in Vancouver round about '79. My dad was working there but I'd just flown from the UK and was too jet lagged.
hey crossy! *hugs* How are you and your lovely lady?
{{hugs}} crossy. how are you both?
Hi Crossy - and hugs from me too - why not?
jet lag kills all kinds of fun
crossy is very huggable, God bless.
Sure can do. But worth it though to get to interesting places.
and now fleetwood mac...oh my, what a feast of music memories.
(rose)) we are both fine. Have been up since 05:00 a.m though--our feline masters decided that we had slept enough:)
Naughty felines.
ugh, crossy...throw the can of tuna at them...
Crossy love fleetwood mac:) I think i wore out two of their Rumours records
hmpff why does rose gets hugs and an answer, and my earlier post gets ignored?
Also love Fleetwood Mac - though only have 3 of their tracks on my inlayer.
Morning all (just)
iPlayer.
Hi matty
good early morning, matty :)
((sprite)) sorry, I did not see you sprite, I am still operating with one eye open
g'day matty, dear
Yeah well - lazy morning after yesterday's entertaining
And me?
tino
howdy liz:))
Ooops. Doesn't work anyway
and matty:))
I love Fleetwood Mac.
Crossy must be careful least one of my ladies get angry:)
:D very true, crossy. Distribute your favours equally, or suffer the consequences :)
hell hath no fury like a woman scorned:)
Too right, crossy ;)
i am laughing so hard....just why does my eldest son think his generation invented head-banging?
Good morning all happy Sunday
lol. We were playing air guitar long before they were born
g'day sukee
howdy sukee
Hi Sukee
and now the grateful dead...omg
may be going to hell in a bucket... but at least i'm enjoying the ride.. love The Dead
Don't know so much by them - have heard of them, of course.
I remember when I was 7 we used to play Beatles and I was always Paul and used a tennis racket as a guitar.
whoot...oh yeah, crossy
My da used to have Deadhead stickers all over our old car
roflol, sukee
kids tend to think their generation has invented anything worth talking about, rose.
the dancing teddy bears and skeletons
hi sukee! Oh yeah, done that too
and sukee has just revealed how old she is....lol
lol Sukee - my friends and I had all sorts of fantasies about the beatles.
I, of course had Steve Perry hair and wished to be a guitar god
sprite....i nearly die laughing at to5's teens strutting their stuff in gear we wore over 40 years ago.
lol :) I guess that was in 1964.
oh yes, that is all coming back now. Nothing new about fashion.
I almost fell over when I saw bell-bottom cords coming back
Laughing with you there, Rose.
Is it me, or is this a tough little grid?
crossy....omg....roflol
I'm finding it tough too.'
I'm finding it hard already.
it is far from easy
remember the commercial?? "...Levi's cords, to beautify ladies and mystify Lords" lol
it is a nasty one. some very peculiar words in it...supposedly
I'm really struggling - I haven't yet opened the list, but will shortly - I can't see anything bigger than 5 letters
oh yes, crossy
Struggling with 28 left now - but missing 8 x 6 letters and 1 7 - sigh!
both 7's are la7
That doesn't help!
just found the other 7. They are close together.
*giggle*
I've been working around that cos I've listed but just not getting there.
Giggle?
one is la7, from sheep's fleece
Found on of the la 7
Have that one.
la + ge*****, having to do with the sex organs
ty rose
the other one... is what rose just posted, lol
Ta - gotya now.
Dirty minds, ladies!
Thanks
I was nowhere near that!
a dirty mind is a joy forever
and your point is?? matty??
ty, sprite
Rock on! I too have been known to engage in naughty thoughts
I've been known not to ;)
but only very rarely, Liz, lol
Uh huh. I believe you, Liz. Many don't ;)
So true!
go ahead, ladies... crossy will watch:))
And got the second ty for clues
yvw :)
crossy is just as bad, for sure
what?... me??.. never:)
lol....naughty crossy...can just see you...can of favourite beveredge in one hand, plate of bacon and maple syrup in other.
oh those innocent baby blues...
Pure as the driven snow is crossy:)
The gent does protest too much, methinks.
methinks just the same thing
yup liz
Everyone see the new Star Wars trailer for the movie coming out next December?
:)
okay, three strikes, crossy is out...lolol
no not yet. Does it look good, sukee?
Haven't seen the trailer - but will see the film - also looking forward to the Hobbit.
It does got me excited, reminded me of the original movies.
The Hobbit is on my to go list.
The Millenium Falcon flew by.
is the last chunk of The Hobbit finished now?
Looking forward t seeing hobbiton and the locations in the south island of New Zealand next year.
Yes, released at the end of the year, Crossy.
ohhhh now I am jealous, Liz. Can't you buy a huge wheeled bag and take me along?
Yes please.
:D
I have heard some mixed reviews about The Hobbit, but I shall wait till it is is the sale bins and pick up all three on the cheap. I hear that they "overdid" the movie. drew it out without need just as a cash cow.
I don't really think it needed 3 movies but I still have enjoyed the first 2.
yes that is what they say. I have enjoyed every minute of it. They have inserted some of the lore from the Silmarillion into it and it is awesome.
I will hold off, and watch all three at once later on
worth watching on a big screen, though, crossy. Oh Liz... those spiders!
I have a 51 inch hdtv and a lazyboy chair. My favorite theatre;)
Scary, weren't they? Saw the film in 3-D at a local i-Max cinema.
SPIDERS????? *grabs the can of mortein*
not the same as the cinema, but more comfy for sure, crossy.
lol!
sadly, crossy cannot see 3D. I have an eye oddity with it.
I had to close my eyes when I saw a Doctor Who episode with spiders.... ick.
And without other people's crunching of popcorn!
we watched it in 3D IMAX as well. HD too. Yes they were horrible!
never close my eyes in Doctor Who.
in life, yes, in movies, no 3d for crossy
Haven't been in a theatre for a while.
better than the other way around, crossy
*with sukee* spiders are definitely in the realm of ick
Last time I went to a theatre, i almost needed a surgeon to get out of my chair, and there was a group of three ladies nattering behind us for the entire movie
I don't understand ppl talking through a movie. Stay home and talk, for crying out loud.
That drives me mad - also tall people in front of me!
and phones going off! grrr!
Gotten used to watching movies on my lap top with my speakers plugged in.
fireflies. Quite a bite, this grid has.
Once I get a new TV that I can attach to my laptop I will be very happy.
wtg sprite.
oh that is nice too, sukee. Very private and intense.
I still have 86 to go.
go go goooo sukee!
anything I can help with before I go?
ugh...crashing here....lovely to have caught up with you all. {{sprite}} {{liz}} {{crossy}} {{sukee}}
Not yet, for me anyway :)
We're waiting for our TV to die, so we can get a larger screen and HD TV. We've got hard drives full of stuff, so want to get apple TV, so we can watch on a larger screen.
*hugs rose* Sleep well, dear friend.
Sleep well, Rose. hugs.
WTG SPRITE!!
Night Rose, sweet dreams.
sounds good, Liz
tc ((rose))
My TV is dying slowly, takes a long time to turn on these days and there is a line at the top.
Stuff of dreams at the moment. TV is working well, though it's about 7 years old.
in that case, I am off to answer some emails. A warm *hug* to you all.
I was going to get a new one, but then there were vet bills. I could have gotten a very nice tv for that.
Got to put animals first.
and with these new ones, liz, you can also load movies from your computer, put them on a UBB key, and just jack it into the back of your tv. it is great! That and streaming things like netflix wirelessly
Still dreaming.
Can anyone steer me for the vi6/42
I cancelled cable tv, got netflix, and with the money i saved it paid for the new hdtv
A friend came to visit us from Canada, brought us 2 Terrabites of stuff on hard drive.
I'll happily take that clue too.
2 tb!! lol. That will keep you going for a bit.
Couldn't cancel cable - so many UK shows that I enjoy.
Here, liz, we had 350 channels --and nothing on!
We mostly watch UK stuff and the occasional good Aussie drama.
there were 5 channels I watched regularly. That is it
That seems to be me lately crossy.
We tried to cut our package down but of course, they work it so that there are channels you watch in each of the sections.
History, Discovery, AMC, DejaView, and TMC
yes, they are devious that way, force you to get the next upgrade
vi6 to make grapes into wine
The first 2, + UKTV and BBC First - and the movies.
Probably some others too but not many.
ty bubba
Anyone? VI6?
Thanks bubba
yw
It was just not worth $125.00/month to me
Sorry Matty, I don't have it.
I can see that.
Clued at 6.24 by bubba.
Yep, saw that - sadly, I don't know the word from the definition (but thanks)
When I move, hopefully within 2 years, I will get rid of the TV and just keep phone and Internet.
Yup, I stream everything from the internet now, Netflic, History, Discovery etc
Same ending as when you use a round glass to make things larger.
Thank you LIz and Bubba!
yw
v+ opp of out + for your information (**I)
Nothing like binge-watcing your favorite series!
Great, I got it ty Bubba and Liz
watching
There's a newish channel, which is showing stuff by the series consecutively.
Well, my stomach is growling, time for breakfast.
More efficient to stream it though, than to record.
Have a good day, sukee.
You too.
finito
Congrats, bubba.
13 left that I'd like to find before I go to bed.
need clues?
No thanks. I think I'm fine now.
and now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!!
This is for all you bibliophiles out there... Bookshelf porn!!!! http://tinyurl.com/meol5e2
Some cool images there - will go back tomorrow, when I'm more awake. Have seen some of them but some new ones too.
I try and find new ones. there are some great ideas for book storage there:)
Certainly are. Have to admit though, that now I just tend to buy iBooks or similar. No more space~
I am also out of space, but It is like being married--I still like to look :)))
Me too - I also admire clever design.
Fireworks. Some strange words for me in this grid. Have a great day, Crossy. Time for bed here.
Got myself a fresh library card as well, so now I am all set... though it pains me to see all those wonderful first editions with library stickers and ink stamps all over the pages... Why is it that librarys have all the first editions being beaten to death on their shelves?? lol
tc liz

Anyone care to clue li6/24?

Li is a form of prayer... li + what your skin does in the sun + penultimate consonant
Penultimate...good word
aaahhh church call and response -- tx!!
this grid is TORTURE!
i hate it as well une
I think most people are familiar with li6 as defined..."a long, torturous account" : D
Why are we doing this to ourselves (and thanks for the clue1!)
I didn't think I knew as many words without an E lol
because we've lost our babblesanity
matty we are suckers or glutton for punishment

nope. . . ate at a hotel so no leftover turkey. . .
Well, I meant what I had to offer.
i woke up on friday with a cold and was no longer able to hold the babies that came. . . it was heartbreaking. . .
i would gladly take some turkey soup molls. . . i will supply my own blankie however
Babies?

ri5
molly LOL
ri5 . . . sorry
Telly in the UK looked pretty dire the day I was born - http://tinyurl.com/mbn97yt
there is no mi5
hi marc
Thank you JMC, I'm glad someone remembers Hit Parade. When I say that something is "not on my hit parade", people look at me like I'm from Mars
hi jm ri + plus the first three letter that the first President Bush went to, one of the Ivy Leagues
oh ty marc!
tx marc!
yw
is hit parade the same as bandstand?
i had to type it in twice for it to go in sheesh
so anyone know why grads from there are called Eli?

hey rolin!!
hey une
'morning, all
thnx une, rolin and marc
hey welki :-)
yw :-)
hi welki. . . .
(googled your question, jmc - Elihu Yale)
i dont know about anyone else... but im findng this a tough little grid
Tragically difficult, rolin!
i was playing scrabble with friends and wanted to play my favorite word ever from babble: zarf
tough doesn't BEGIN to describe it :-(
that was the name of the founder of the school?
yes
Eli Yale was the founder of the school
oh okay good to know
I'm still loving a word in the grid from a couple of days ago and have endeavoured to use it whenever possible - wampish
hi wv
hang on, maybe i misread
I loved that word too, matty.
hello jmc and all
i use zarf from time to time but it has such a specific meaning. . .
What does zarf mean?
he was a benefactor - the school was renamed Yale in 1718, but was already in place at the time as a school of the arts and sciences
it has two meanings: the metal bracket used to hold a glass coffee cup especially on a ship and. . . .
an annoying male. . . hahahahaha
(thank you, yale website)
good morning all
hi peri
wampish is good too. . . .this is the best part of playing this game (that and the conversations)
So an annoying bloke could be a wampish zarf?
hi, scrabs
ty you all for educating me. . .
hahahahahaha
haha
lovely matty!
i am typing one-handed because bunny remy is demanding love to the right of me
is remy a new bunny?
morning, scrabs :-)
ta5/10, please?
well my cat has decided to sit on the bed instead of the keyboard so i am two handed for a change
ta 5 = a birds nails
Thanks I found it
yes, i rescued him 4 wks ago yesterday from an owner that was going to release him into the woods, because she didn't have time for him
ty norma
yvw
Have to go thanks all have 15 left and will come back later
tx norma
aww, I know he is a happy bunny.
you are so sweet scrabs. . . and i am glad you were given anew bunny when you needed one.. . .
later, marc :-)
bye marc. . .
Does anyone have the in6/21 they could clue?
how many bunnies do you have now, Scrabs?
remy is a mini-Rex. mini-Rexes were originally bred in france so i chose a french name
not out at sea, matty
never heard of a mini-rex
IN 6 - compound weord, away from the coast
3--Miss Bea died June 7 and Tucker died Oct 27
when you put your hand flat on their fur, it feels like you've put your hand on a plate of whipped cream - they're the best bunnies :)
I am so sorry for your losses, Scrabs
heh - who am i kidding. they're all the best bunnies
what is the average lifespan of a bunny?
My boy Gandalf the Grey will be 12 in April!
I'm an idiot
my oldest ever
nonsense matty. . .
I hate it when the really obvious words elude me.
do you have bunnies too welki?
Remy just jumped off the couch and hopped away.
yeah but it happens to everyone. . .
I have four words left - I think I shall go and do the washing up, have a smoke and see if leaving the grid for a little bit removes my blindness
sometimes the obvious ones are the hardest to see. . . you are so busy looking for zarf. . .
later, matty
I find that taking a break and returning helps a lot
help with the 7's pls
well i am going to go take some more cold medicine and a nap. . . see y'all later
Bye, je
la7 is oily stuff in lotion
later je
merci Une
yw :-)
Phantom = vilify
la7: la + ***e not day + mr. gore
good one, scrabs!
TY, Une
Une, that was the first word I saw--vilify.
Merci, again, Une. never would have found that one
there's two in this grid for me: vanilla and villain
tx to morewords!
Now I will see those, nik.
BBL -- off to eat my cereal :-)
One word left - da 6/21
Go Matty! I need 89 and see little.
tough grid today
Yes, thus not fun.
FW
That was hard work

Yes, it is done at a gas station
Hi All

bye for now, Annie..
Yeah, because we are all botanists and should know obscure shrubs that grow in the wilderness.
bye penquis
right
and.. here they come back.. time for me to scoot too, 39 to find later .. happy babbling
bye...
Studying botany is better than beating the bushes for words
there's words in the bushes too? what?
A figure of speech
I am just hedging my bets
with hedges made of bushes that hide words? it's getting very convoluted in here...
Well you don't want to take a shrubbing on this grid
i've trimmed it about half back...
I am sorry the conversation seems to be clipped
Look out, there are lurkers hiding in those bushes
that's alright, i'm not very sharp myself today
Are they trying to bushwhack us?
No, just watching...always watching...
Sounds like a Steven King title
Don't mind me, just filling in all the words I had hours ago that have mysteriously disappeared from my word list.
That happened to me too recently
I think this place is slowly dying
Me too
since the day we were born..
its because of all the cutting hedge technology
That would have been fernier earlier nik
that's a pretty sticky pun, ruru
I went out on a limb ...
But all of these jokes are rooted in something...
fir sure , ru
Lol..nice of you to cypress yourself saan
im just afraid i wont make the cut with my lamentable amount of ferns
!!
Well nik.. you can wait until you are maple
Saanich must have left to spruce herself up..
in today's world there are more pressing issues such as the limited copper which is making me question whether or not the mint makes cents
I'm still here, punless
Ha
Then they should give mints no quarter
they should make coins out of silver or gold. either ore is fine by me
I meant to coin that differently
its gonna be hard to get rid of all the tainted money. it taint yours and it taint mine.
Oh Lord
WE are due for a small change then
ypu're good nik
but none of this makes sense to me
Give it some dime saanich
hello Molly, I am looking for "lost words" as well
indo
Outdo
(Covering for java)
ty - I wondered where that went
(that's what I get for watching the football game AND trying to babble)
What game?
NM. Go Pack Go!
Hello babblers! Just posted story of clues in my profile and I am saving my last three words for later on this evening.
Hello redshoes! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
Helloooooo!
im in debt i cant budge it
hello Min! Thanks for your stories; they are fun!
Hello saanichcat! How are you doing?Twas hard to do story with this grid.Probably not very helpful, but did it anyway.
bah dum bum, clang! for saan
thanks redshoes
I would like to see The Packers crush New England
hey Redshoes, are those yours in your icon?
meeeee tooooo Molly! Saan, yes they are. Actually, I'm wearing them right now. :)
great! may your team win!
wooo hoooo!
bah, I tried the root and feminine of the last la6/18, but didn't even think to try the masculine. Dork.
All that loud whistling...if I didn't know better, I'd say my mom's at the game. I wonder how close that camera is to the family seats... ;)
Almost halftime; thanks Molly and redshoes for the cheers. So far, so good!
Oh, and thanks saanichcat, too. (Just saw your rooting)
I'm a Badger. I live in Tennessee but hail from the Motherland of All Things Cheddar.
Then, how about that Badger game yesterday?
Okay...I didn't say I was a GOOD Badger... O:)
To be fair, I tried to watch at home, but found out the hard way that I don't get the channel. Stupid SEC TV.
Ah. Well, they beat the Minnesota Gophers to retain possession of Paul Bunyan's Axe and earned the right to play Ohio next week.
I did look it up and am glad for all of that. I do feel a little sorry for the Gophers. They just haven't won the axe in so long. Wonder if reciprocity has anything to do with that.
Just before the half, when the score had been 17-3, them, Wisconsin scored to make it 17-13 and then went on a scoring spree with 21 points in the second half.
Good players who don't have scholarships can go to a better team for the same price. ;)
And, in my not-so-humble-opinion, a better education, as well. ;P
But I am wholeheartedly biased.
You're right; there's a good reciprocity program among many midwest states for higher education. A win-win for students.
game's back on - type later
tiny
Oh, rats...
Sorry! I'll now pay more attention
I'm actually pretty proud of our academic system in the midwest.
Ha. I typed that last one and then my attention just meandered off before pressing send.
Okay, I don't watch much, but did I just see a Patriot on a leash??
I saw the same thing!
