Hi Andree, I love the view you have there - gorgeous

I really don't know how you aussies drink upside down :D
we manage
it is an art, ruru.
you clever people
it comes from hanging upside down in trees....that puts us right way up by your rule.

good morning all, gonna grab me a coffee and then I'll tackle this moderately-sized grid :)
hi Sprite
hi flosey! How are you today?
has anyone ever typed in a word that does not fit in the grid, yet it accepts it as a word? that just happened to me. i've looked at it a million times trying to see the word that it accepted and i cannot see it
good thanks sprite but getting tired, think I'll leave my last 14 for the morning
goodnight all
yeah I have, cg, but in the end figured out it was in the grid anyway. Sometimes it is so twisty.
night flosey, sweet dreams
tks Sprite, have a good day
{{hugs}} darling sprite
i have fireworks, but it seems anticlimactic. i just got the last word by pure chance.
sweet dreams flosey. thanx for the email xoxox
hello dear friend :) *hugs*
gratz, cg! Fireworks is fireworks, grin... good job.
WTG CG530!!!!
thanks! it's only happened a few times for me. is it cheating to use the word lists?
cg, as one babbler told me when I started here: Looking up the actual words is cheating. All the rest... is research.
no cg. we each solve the grid using our own methods. puritans, and i am not being critical, say that the use of the lists is not the way the game should be played.
i'm sure there's probably lots of people who have the vocabulary to know the words without using the lists. i would not be one of them
ditto here cg. i need the list most times, particularly when the grid is huge.
to each their own, as rose says. Some use the second letter clue list, some use word lists, some spam the chog full of stats and lists, some use clues from other babblers. It all has its merits and I think puritans should remember we play the game for fun. So in the end, go with what brings you the most fun.
i guess i can feel good that i don't resort to the lists until i have at least half of the words. then, i go to the chat log, which is awesome. some people are so good at giving clues. i usually get quite a few more from that. i just started using the lists in the past few days, and i've actually be able to finish. i think i can count on one hand the times i've finished since i joined in 2006
what sprite says...lol...cg, may i introduce the sister of my soul, sprite? we often say what the other is thinking.
sounds to me like you found a great way to play for yourself, cg!
thanks, everyone. i've been lurking on this group for a long time, and i recognize so many names. people sure are friendly on this group. :-)
my way is to do without help for as far as I can get. Then use the tile and word stats given in the game. Then fool around with endings and patterns and see if I can find them in external word lists. And if the grid is big, I look up the second letter stats in lickety for the last few. And I never ever turn down a good clue, grin.
cg, it's mainly because we are all relaxed, and allow each other to voice how they feel, no judgement made.
my way of playing is to try to get all the big ones first, but then I find I miss a lot of the littlies.
it is a good community, cg. You are welcome to lurk whenever you want, but even more welcome to join in chat :)
lol yes dizgrannie, and don't we feel stupid when we find out we had the big one and not the smaller constituents at the end...
and i try to find at least half if not over half for each tile. sometimes the big words jump right out, others i scratchmy head for quite some minutes. all in all, just enjoy the game.
i think it's really great how there are so many people from all over. just seeing the different flags has been educational for me
yes I like that too. So many nationalities from all over the world.
oh, and make friends along the way...* grinning at you sprite *
I suck at spotting biggies. And K words. Did I ever mention I hate K words?
just for fun...(echoing Roses words)
ditto sprite. if i get a big one, it's a fluke
*giggles* I have noooooo idea what you are talking about, rose.
fun is good. Fun is what playing any game should be about.
exactly, sprite. just have fun. some players can accept not finishing a grid. and some are fanatical about finishing. i wish i could leave a grid unfinished, but is not in my personality
watch out sprite, i am going for the feather...* tickle, tickle *
same here. I love that feeling of completion. Can't stand missing a few words and not knowing which ones. So yeah, I finish. A touch of ocd. Just a touch.
noooo NOT the feather! *hides behind cg and dizgrannie*
*explosive laughter* a touch???
rose, have you finished? If so, tell me... is that beautiful TH there a total waste of space?
it's no good sprite, i know where you sleep...
You know where my bed sleeps and where my house lives...
roflol...
Beds don't sleep...they lay around...:D
yup, sprite. total waste
hehehe hi ru :) How are you?
*mumblemumble* I really hate it when a good letter or letter combo is wasted.
Hiya
The th is used
ok! Then the hunt is back on, thanks ru
not at the beginning of a word, ruru
Yes at the end
oh ok, confusion, sorry to be so unclear. I meant used at all, not just at the beginning. I am trying to make old english past tenses with it, lol
hope that isn't too much of a hint, sprite
you are on the right track
Twice at the end
not at all, darling, thanks
oh, yeah, twice
dyetie not a valid word?
you're a legend, ruru
Legend?
for one of the th endings
Ah
the legendary ruru rocks the world wherever he goes
I thought it was a miss for people with lisps
darn....i hope i haven't given a word away
lol
oh, dear, ruru....roflol

bit disappointed FB is down, this is my time to talk to all my overseas friends....grrrrr
wtg dizgrannie!!!!!!!
frustrating :(
dinner ready, sprite. i'll be about 15 minutes.
don't inhale your food, rose, eat slowly and chew ;)
and chew?? you are meant to chew food??
yes dear. The whole breathe in- breathe out thing is only meant for air.
col....i learned to eat quickly during my training. if you were working on the ninth floor, and the cafeteria is on the first floor, and you are not allowed to use the lifts. have a stab at how much time you actually have to eat a meal, deducting the minutes for standing in a queue and find an empty chair from the 30 minutes allowed for a meal break.
omg indeed. Better off bringing your own bread and eat in the nurse room, lol
terra is at my feet, snoring like a boss!
sweet terra. * special pat for him*
hehehe will pass it on
sprite we were only allowed to eat and drink in the cafeteria.
such unreasonable demands. What is the madness in not being allowed to use the elevators?
the lifts were for patients, doctors, and family members . not for trainee nurses.
ridiculous. I'd have ignored that command for sure. 9 floors, go *ugly word* yourselves.
fireflies at last. Tough little grid, this.
col....in 1970?? nope...we were well and truly under the thumb.
WTG SPRITE!!!!
even in 1970, lol. I have always had trouble following orders that seem ridiculous to me.
it wasn't until 1971, when the trainee nurses here rebelled. we went on strike, and refused to wash the supper cups from the patients. very wicked of us!!
well you were right. You don't train to be a nurse to do the washing up. Idiots. Hmmmph.
tell me to leave that scab on my pinkie alone, rose
LEAVE THE SCAB ON YOUR PINKIE ALONE!!!. it will not help if you pick it off. it is a natural cover for your wound.
another couple of days, you have my permission to pick.
thanks. My own firmness with myself wasn't enough
i am gonna check up on you...
can i please get a clue for the ad7 =)
kim, tonsils and ad's
hi kimber, it has the robot ending
got it thx!

sprite? have you been in contact with o-o? apparently he is on a new regime.
ok, I should be off and get productive. *hugs rose* Sleep well, darling. And to you all, may you have a blessed day and a peaceful night.
not recently. Will email him.
{{hugs}} sprite. xoxoxox to keep you going.
back again
staying at my daughters and had to dash off for dinner
i hope you enjoyed it, andree. mind you, any meal i am not responsible for always tastes better...lol
hi all
i pray the ones in the snow are able to enjoy it and relax
How can doody not be in the dictionary
Morning all
hi sukee
Hi Sue
Considering the weather along the east coast, I find it amusing that both s4's used to clear the roads are in the grid. Where is "hot" and "toddy"?
If there were a C we could also have gotten deice
To much thinking for so early :)
Okay, half way, breakfast time.

It's a winter wonderland, still snowing, heavy flakes. I have an appt with the doctor tomorrow but I am going to cancel. How is the weather over there?

*Puts Morning Glory muffins and hot beverages out*

watcching the today show it does not look bad in the city but long island got bombed.
as did ct
good morning all. it is a great day here. Only got about an inch of snow!
hi peri
There's about a foot and a half here in central CT. Waiting for the thunder snow
Yes, it seems the coastal areas got hit the worst. I read it's pretty bad in Nantucket.
hi bich. the timing was bad for you. will it e as ad as they said?
TO, are you missing keys on your keyboard?
one. and they are sticky.
Hello kids. How are the snow bunnies holding up?
Hi Scrabbs
How are conditions for you, Annie?
hi Scrabbs. how are conditions with you?
Not so bad here
Still snowing heavily, car is buried, cant see it. I have to break a doctor's appt for tomorrow.
We have gotten several inches since yesterday and my driveway had to get plowed out this morning. But we are not close to the storm system. My sister is in northeastern NJ.
We may have thunder snow later
scrabbs, Have you spoken to your sister? Is she okay?
I texted her this morning. She received about 5 inches of snow so not bad...yet. She works at a hospital in NY--Good Samaritan in Suffern.
Bichon, how are you doing?
help with the lower I I left colum pls
we have have gotten 1-2 inches I think. but very doable. I will shovel in a bit
that will be my exercise for the day
good morning. id4/7 peri, you might not need a clue
I got an id4/7 from the top i
oh i see... the lower one is easy... charged particles --fish for you
The radar map at weather.com looks awful for the northeast. Hi Doren--how are you.
duh, ty feeling really dumb but it will pass
how are conditions for you, Doren?
(I hadn't done the top one when you asked, and my lower one was greyed out so i didn't notice it as readily I'm fine scrabble... we have about another six inches but no big deal... same as what we had on Saturday. You??
glad most of us seem to have dodged the worst.... coastal CT and LI are bad though. My sister in law in Nassau County is feeling lucky. lots of snow, but now power outages. everyone is safe
weather prople spenta full 5minutes claiming they NEVER predicted a blizzaed here.
mornin, folks.. glad to see you all survived, and your internet too
I don't mind so much when they're wrong in that direction... would rather gear up for a bad storm and miss it than be taken by surprise.
hi aloy... you're in Fl now, right?
i agree. but themayor closed the schools yesterday.
Aloy I made a carrot an chili pepper soup yesterday which was quite good.
right, Dorens.. sunny but quite cool, no complaints
bbl
you make the most interesting soups, peri
my mom's in Sarasota for the winter, I just love when she complains that it's cold... I respond, "Define cold, Mom" Right around now 50's - 60's would be more than acceptable
a friend from Florida posted some fake sympathy yesterday "I know what you mean about this weather. I'm going to have to put on LONG pants to play golf tomorrow"
I know.. grumbles when the heat has to be turned on and the sweatshirt/sweater dragged out
hahaha
lol dan2..
couple of years ago we had a bad cold snap.. I was bundled up, went to WallyMart.. saw a lady walking around in shorts, flipflops, tank top.. as if she were saying "I paid to come to Fla. so .. whatever!"
2Bit, you're breaking my heart : P
we're at 30℉ with an inch on the ground in DC
Back. I had to see a patient.
roads are fine up there, right scrabbler?
Same here in Northern Suburbia, 2Bit. Only a bit more snow.
medical term for you, Scrabs.. ad7.36
Covered with snow so slow-going.
Wow, I thought upstate New York had the hard core, Canadian style snow plows.
TY, Aloy. I talk abouts those at least once daily.
but no government mandated road closures as we have in the NY metropolitan area?
(-:
Morning dears
g'morning hego
hi hego Aloy, Dorens, Scrabs
hi hego, bichon
We dodged a bullet here. Only a foot of snow.
we didn't even get that..... Bichon you have a bit there, yes?
was school called off, hego?
About a foot and a half, not as much as predicted
Yes, Aloy. Noschool anywhere.
Not here. We had "Snowvember" with some areas getting 6-7 FEET of snow. Prince Andrew (Cuomo) stayed in Buffalo for a week. Thruway and roads were closed for several days.
Wonder how Trif is making out
igloo building time
Yesterday was the biggest grid I had ever completed. Whew!!
I will cross-country ski this afternoon, on fresh powder. :-)
New England will get more snow than us.
I wasn't near completing it, had 166 left
It got kind of tedious.
I never looked at the grid yesterday, I was busy all day.
good day to be busy... it was a bear.
How many words?
The grids have been giving us plenty of sa4,4 to put on our roads. :)
a kazillion
4hundred something
468
What Aloy said
Kazillion sounds like tedium.
Liked your mom and her chair story Scrabs
it was Scrabs. But at least I wasn't at the grocery store buing tp and bread
Clues for Os please?
it was tedium
She is so funny, Hego.
You are such a good daughter Scrabs
Poor thing.
She is a great daughter.
i on** have two of them
I try, Bichon, but I feel guilty that I am not doing more.
Yes, there is always that guilty feeling
you do far more than most scrabs (including me) I just pray for my mother's husband to outlive her... would do anything for that
24 a words. torture.
You are right Doren. My mother was a mess after my father died.
Hi TO
yes, i' m a bit stymied by the a's as well, owl
My sisters and I hoped our Dad would outlive Mom, because she is high-maintenance, and we knew the grief would be worse for her. But it didn't turn out that way.
The one and on4.6 time I saw the babblet od4.5 ..
nice
am4/7 = am** nitrate
but I had to monkey od4.7
i am pounding my keys and still cannot get a comma
hego, my mother is a bit of a mess now. but her husband is great. If he weren't around, my life would be so very different. She is high maintenance. and it isn't even about grief, it is about having someone to dance at her command, as well as shepherd her to her various appointmnets.
use that same ending, Scrabs..
My monkey is looking for it now.
New for me, Aloy
Doren my mom was the same.
how old is she, doren?
My mother is Miss Bossy Boss too.
ty for od
Scrabs have you heard of the HCG diet?
yw, brb.. bringing hot coffee refills
No.
and some bagels too
You live on liquids and receive HCG to burn fat. Ugh!!
ty Aloy!!
87. and he's 88, but strong like bull. Still, I see them both slowing down. He needed surgery for a benign tumor on her leg and when she told me about it, the main point was that she doesn't know how she'll make coffee (she's a fabulous cook), because he's done it for the last twenty years or so. Talk about being dependent! (and narcissistic)
we need to make french toast with all of the storm prep bread milk and eggs
i never went out to buy bread.. figured I could live without it. I do have lots of milk and eggs though.
She'll have to figure it out, Doren.
hm..custard?
fritttata?
I am on the website, Hego. Looks bad--very low calorie diet, thus weight loss results. Not sound.
she did manage, hego. but it was kind of pathetic that she even said that. it's just the way she thinks. it's all about her. and he has no problem with that, so he's great for her
My mother is like that too, Doren.
would love custard, or any kind of pudding. but trying to eat sensibly right now.
It sounded bad to me too.
I need to go see a kid. BBS>
Mimi wants to go on it.
Bye Scrabs.
sounds ridiculous to me
It's sort of a whiteout condition here now.
good you're inside then, Annie.
Eating sensibly is such a pain.
Hi Annie
that is hard
tell me about it! and it isn't even giving me the results I want, but then again I know what would happen if I didn't.
Hi hego..I called the doctor to cancel an appt for tomorrow and the office is closed.
No one will be in today.
looks that way. did you get much snow?
my dentist called yesterday to reschedule because he would be closed tomorrow.
about a foot. Still snowing.
it is really bad when a foot sounds good!
my Physical Therapy place called yesterday morning and asked if I wanted to switch my Tuesday appt and come in then. Was a great idea.
true TO
i so want to get out and go someplace warm.
I am off to West Palm next month
i'm going to Vegas next month. might not be as warm as I'd like, but won't be cold!
should be nice.
going to start my day, see you all later
bye...
so should West Palm. nicer, even. But I can't complain. My best friend from HS goes there for a convention twice a year and she has a huge suite at the Venetian, and lots of dinner parties that I'll be able to go to, so it should be a very cheap getaway.. frequent flier miles to get there.. all it will cost me will be breakfast and lunch and massages for both of us at Canyon Ranch Spa (which is at the hotel)
you have been travelling a lot. my companion does not want to travel
Will go to Red Rocks Canyon to hike (by myself) one day.
That mess of vowels on the left is making me woozy.
I drag my poor husband all over the place. lol
I do this travelling by myself, owl, or with Great Aunt Juliet (92). not with my companion.
your poor husband is more than a good sport hego! i know you know you're lucky to have him.
When you're both retired it makes a nice change.
He is sweet and kind for sure.
Vegas?
And he enjoys all the Babble ladies.
Hello Ru
Vegas. not that it would be my destination of choice, but it's a freebie.
sounds like a winner hego.. hi ruru, just in time for some onion bagels if you'd like one
Ruru, love you're icon. lol
your icon!! dang!
I've done it with her before, ru. I have no interest in the casinos or the night life... just sit by the pool, read my book, enjoy the luxurious room and eat well.
I am off carbs aloy. But thanks
oh, ok.. passes fruit salad
off carbs! Horrors!
ru, the carbs don't count if it's eaten in babbleonia, silly!
Of course Doren.
Yes they do doren
how come?
well, hego and I disagree. I will eat all the muffins I can here... then go have some hardboiled eggs soon. I'm down to 33. Breakfast comes when I hit 30.
enjoy Doren
My breakfast is a soft boiled egg and a piece of wheat toast
Cant wait to hit 30 too
just hit 30. later, gators
stuck on do5.14, feeling blind
bye...
Do5 female deer with a lisp
aloy, bibical verb
and now I am out
or like the do4.6 before it, lol
Hmm....
great clue, ruru.. see it now, was looking down when I should have been looking up.. ty
me too. ty
Good morning, cats and kittens!
hi Judi
morning Judi
Is that your doggie?
Yep. That is Luna. She is a husky mix.
Very cute! How is she doing?
aww, pretty luna
She's coming along. Vet visit yesterday. Now being treated for tick borne illness and some other kennel bug. Nothing serious. Shelter we got her from will hear about it though. As they told us she was fully vetted when we picked her up.
It happens.
Beautiful dog, Judi. Thank you for choosing a rescue.
Hope everyone dealing with Juno is snug and warm.
ad6, please?
She gets spayed next week. Cha-ching cha-ching cha-ching. See the pretty money fly away.
Juno?
yes, Judy. Pets are quite expensive.
Juno is the snowstorm in New England.
Oy. Don't I know it.
yes, Bea and here too. Did not know it had a name.
They name winter storms now. Pointless, really.
i thought the shelters included spaying/neutering in the asoption fee, to insure it would be done?
mena to say ensure. sorry
Not seeing ad 6 either. hmmm
I think they do if they adopt to individuals, TO.
But if the dog is pulled by a rescue, they are expected to take care of that.
Luna's turnaround time was very quick. Came from kill shelter in Kentucky to shelter in PA. Was only there three days when hubby spotted her. They refund spaying fee *up to $75 once we get her show proof. Less than half the cost.
ad6 ends like id4
probs
ty

Fan, why do you have lideola's icon?
Looks like an album cover to me..lol
huh?
Ahh they look totally different.
Fan has an icon that resembles your lideol
Now I see the difference
Fan's is my "death stare". The kids know it well.
lol
shoveling was not difficult. the snow was soft and light. of course I did not get any help
I bet they fall back into line with a stare like the 'Death Satre' lol
I call it my "She who must be obeyed" stare
Let me guess, Peri, they still have a headache?
stare*
With or else add on, Bichon..lol
locally, and in Italy, I think, they call it the "stink eye"
I am guessing yes, zooz along with other assorted maladies
I think I have turned the corner with my pleurisy. Keeping fingers crossed
I shall practice that stare lideola to give to the others in this house:)
What is the problem peri? No one in you house will help
da5, please?
ruby, you have pleurisy? Sounds awful.
Everything is all fine and DA 5, Marc.
they have various issues. I still think at least one could have help but feel laziness is a part of it too
It was the worst pain I've ever had -- until yesterday. Now it's just a 4! lol
thanks
oh ruby, sorry you are feeling poorly. hope you feel better soon
It was awful and even the strongest opiates (morphine, oxy) didn't touch the pain.
poor ruby
Pleurisy is like pneumonia? Did they have to drain your pleural membranes?
The doctor was afraid it would last 'til summer....
No, I had "dry" pleurisy, from my old sternum fracture
Sorry for my ignorance, I had to google it.Sounds really nasty, ((Ruby))
The pleura was actually torn, no fluid in lungs
I have am7 and ad7. help with last 7b pls
>-- nasty girl, moi. lol
lol not you..silly!

eve's apple wouldn't cut it for the bible I guess
Waht is that in your icon, Ruru.some kind of award?
As I said, the lump on the throat is a lymph and sometimes they are swollen
it is a slightly deflate Superbowl trophy zooz
thanks got it
deflated rather
The New England Patriots used deliberately under-inflated footballs against the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game. Cheaters.
maybe all year molly.. that's what I have heard
I think I'm boycotting this superbowl. I dislike both teams
almas
sorryr!!!!
