cooee and g'day from me
hi there Rose
hi rose!
{{hugs}} dee
{{hugs}} flosey
(((rose)))
and hugs to you too, Rose and Dee
((flosey)))
does three count as a group hug?
absolutely
in that case...GROUP HUG!!
nice
How are you feeling, rose?
not too bad. went to physio who worked on my lower back. a bit tender when i came home, but seems good now.
and how are you going? have the injections and therapy helped you?
Excellent!
Hanging in there. Having some times of less pain, so the therapy must have helped some.
Hey, I forgot to ask the other day, what kind of surgery did pug have?
so pleased, dee. may you continue to improve, dear
repair of a ventral hernia.
How is she doing?
better now, at least that is what she said yesterday. i have emailed her. waiting for a reply.
Bet she is glad the surgery is over with. Flosey, didn't you have a daughter or daughter-in-law who had surgery?
ca 7
yes Dee, daughter had c. tumor on her brain removed followed by proton therapy (not done in Canada) so had to go to Seattle for that
How is she doing?
fortunately, they have friends there and was able to stay with them (and help with a new baby)
she has been fine throughout, back home now, repeat MRI every 6 months for a while just to be sure
Wow! Lots of stress on her physically, emotionally, and mentally ... That is a lot to deal with.
Bet that was tough on you and your hubby, too.
but hubby was enormous support - he, 5 yr old son went with her throughout all interviews appts. etc - amazing how much a 5 year old can take in -and being kept 'in the loop' he understood why Mommie had ot be away throughout the treatments
of course it was stressful but had every reason to believe she'd come through fine - she was even able to drive home weekends
That was wise... not sure what I would have done... my generation tends to keep those things secret.
Really amazing.
I remember how much I resented not understanding when my mom was ill on a couple of occasions - everything was hush hush and really bothered me
it's amazing how much kids can understand
That same situation happened to me when I was in 5th grade... "secrecy" wasn't total, and I heard just enough to scare me to death...my mom tried to do the same thing when I was in my 30's and she had cancer... I found out by accident...
oh Dee, how horrible to find out that way
and she really needed your support too
She just thought that all things health were private...she didn't realize how supportive we could be
so true, my mom was much the same
We also lived 2,000 miles apart, so she didn't want to "worry" us...
That is how they were taught...
yes
Mom's parents never lived far from us
Hi again - so happy that your daughter is doing well, Flosey.
Funny how times have changed.
re-hi, liz!!
{{hugs}} liz
:)
Hi and hugs to you all
thanks Liz - and her (kept black) hair is now coming in gray and gives her a much softer look
Does she agree?
yes - is quite happy to do away with the blacko!
kept it that way because she wore it long
:)
Hair stylists don't know how to color hair properly anymore...
isn't that strange!
What makes you say that?
Colors are way too stark
my other daughter coloured it for her
I'm happy with the way my hair is coloured - less happy with the cut!
I am now, Liz, but it took me a very long time to find someone good. I drive 2 hours because she is so good with color.
This is a relatively new stylist for me - hope she'll learn my hair if I stay with her. My more regular stylist went to the UK for a while - sick father - she cut well but coloured less well!
mine is all white!
Mine's probably a good shade of silver!
Yours is beautiful, flosey.
True - I still love that pic of you, Crossy and Joso.
i'm being honest. have left it uncoloured since just after we were married. i coloured it pink for breast cancer day, and shaved it all off on the day, with people sponsoring me in order to raise funds for breast cancer research.
ah, wondered where you'd seen it!
I am still in the soft blonde phase. I didn't want to have white hair yet or platinum or yellow...
Wow, rose, that was brave!
wow, wtg Rose
I've coloured my hair since my early 20s - just haven't stopped.
Amazing thing to do, Rose.
ditto that, liz
it was very liberating dee. have you ever walked in the rain with such short hair. the feeling on your scalp is amazing.
That would probably be liberating. I have always had a major fear of going bald... doing it by choice ... wow
I coloured mine in my 50's + for a while, then gave up
I started with highlights and it developed from there.
went white young
as did my Mom
funny how that is definitely genetic - when you turn white...
yes, mom coloured hers for a long time
my hair went white in the front very early too, like about 35. coloured for years. at the back i am a rather boring grey.
Started going grey in 30s - sped up drastically mid-30s when my mum got ill and died.
<--not a lot of gray hair
did your mom go white early, Liz?
Interesting.. stress definitely affects hair. I think at some point, hair stops taking the color.
re-hi, ru!
fireworks, finally
I think so, Flosey - she coloured her hair too.
wtg Dee
Congrats, Dee.
ty vm
Hi Ru.
hi again Ru
I do have some gray hair though..
I started getting some gray / white around the temples, but have no idea how much would be that color, since I have colored for so long :)
WTG DEE!!!
ty, rose
OMG! 2 children struck by lightning on the way with their mum to vote :( Massive but very short storm here an hour ago.
oh, no!
watching the news now, liz.
Hubby reading news on computer.
how horrible!
What an awful thing to happen and apologies for OMG - not something I usually write!
no apologies needed liz
it is such tragic news
I know that really but I actually dislike the OMG acronym!
Totally tragic. Nothing anyone could do.
did all three get killed?
Most likely - not sure. Hubby read that they're working to save the kids and that they've been taken to hospital. But the storm was huge.
Must've been a massive charge.
very sad then
Sure hope they can be saved.
Very sad and quite shocking.
Apparently mum and dad were also struck.
Rose is watching the TV news - perhaps she'll update.
no mention yet
That is one of the freakiest accidents I have ever heard..
http://tinyurl.com/kzb74j7
get a message saying does not match any docs
Possibly because it's a local newspaper - the link worked for me from the chog.
ah, ok
me too
You too like me or like Flosey?
like you liz, i can access the link. i tried opening it, and copying and pasting in an email. didn't work. :-(
Wonder why
Well, I need to get going. Hoping to bake a bit tomorrow; we are supposed to get 6 - 12 inches of snow in the next 2 days, so we'll see how off the weatherman is :)
Hugs to all!!!
good night Dee, sweet sleep
Sleep well and stay safe - hugs
aaaaggghhhh, on the news...they are talking about global warming....IT'S CLIMATE CHANGE!!! for goodness sake, these are supposed to be professionals.
sweet dreams, dee. xoxox
(((rose, liz, flosey)))) See you tomorrow :)
I've e mailed you the link, Rose. It works from the e mail for me, when I copy / paste into url. Does it work for you?
!
That was supposed to read - Climate Change - Aaargh!
forwarded that link to flosey, liz. thanx for that
Hope it works for her - not that it's very cheery stuff to read.
thanks Rose, will check it now
yup, liz, it opened quite nicely.
I don't know if there's something to prevent local stuff transferring to other countries. Perhaps don would know.
I copied it from chog and pasted it into another window with no problems here.
Hi Zooz :)
So that answers that!
Tragic story and hi, Liz & all :-)
One of those freakish accidents.
g'day zooz
okay...as zooz did. the link in chog has to be copied and pasted into a new window.
OK - taking a break now. Might ca 5 up with you later. Hugs
xoxox liz girl
I remember there was a football match in Africa and the field got struck with lightening and a lot of the players just fell to the ground. Some needed heart massage and alike.
thanks Rose, all so sad
That was a long time ago now though.
Nice to see you, Liz.
what a freak accident, as liz said. don said there would have been a massive discharge of electricity. so, even if the people had not been touching the shelter at all, the electricity in the air would still have reached them.
Anyone else here read any of 'Daphne Du Maurier' works?
have read a few.
I am reading a play called 'September Tide'
I rather like her style of telling a story so far..although the man in the story is a right pig by the sounds of it.lol
a play??? du maurier wrote plays?? this i have to look into...i have only read books/novels.
It is called 'September Tide' rose
was it her only play?
Ahh that I am afraid I do not know, Rose.
looking it up as we speak
Cool..let me know what you find.
I found that she wrote three plays, Rose.
http://tinyurl.com/yq9s4a
ditto zooz, what an interesting site wikipedia is. rebecca, the years between and september tide. must look outfor them.
It is a rather small book. But very well written.
ugh, the asian world cup is on. our team is about to play korea.
Good luck!
* giggle *
mate, this particular form of football leaves me eye-rollingly bored out of my brain. i'm sorry if that alarms you.
I am not a football fan, Rose, so your comment made no impact on me what so ever..lol
In fact I would of rolled my eyes too!
*giggle* we think alike then.
oh gross, don says vietnam police have stopped trucks from china containing 3 tonnes of live cats on their way to vietnamese restaurants. that's a lot of pussy....lol
Sorry to be a bore but the money the football players get paid here in the UK (some around £175,000 per week) is way over the top whilst people who saves lives as in emergency services and alike get next to peanuts!
Oh the poor things....Oh, Rose, Can't take you anywhere..lol
something very wrong about that, I'd say - especially when they're called on to save the life of one of these players!!
*shakes head* same here, zooz. do you know over here a person on an assembly production line gets paid 3 times what the critical care nurse is paid. go figure.
sorry zooz....but you know me...
Agreed, Flosey & Rose. They can also get beaten up by the drunks on the wards they work at too..So disgusting.
wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that it might be a very boring job?
I do, Rose...lol..I do :-)
don says he never knows what is going to come out of my mouth. it amuses him no end.
Teehee! it is nice to know you two are so made for each other..lol
you are probably right, flosey. but i do think someone who holds a human life in their hands is worth more than someone who screws a bolt onto a screw.
ah yes, for sure Rose
nope, that's a bolt onto a nut
hahaha!
Get it right, Rose..Teehee!
well it is a boy thing....bolts, screws, nuts, domes, wings...they all look the same to me...* collapses giggling uncontrollably *
Rose knows how to save lives put needles into arms...set up a saline drip. But ask her to put a Bolt onto a nut and she is all fingers & thumbs!
and your point is????
Keep saving lives :-)
what would you rather have beside you when you are in a recovery room, in pain, vomiting your heart out?
A nurse to hold my hand and say everything is going to be OK :-)
and did i mention bleeding like a stuck pig? hmmm...just how does a stuck pig bleed??
i wonder if that phrase refers to the slaughter of pigs at an abattoir ?
so true, zooz
have a degree in hand holding. also hair smoothing and cuddles.
all so comforting when everything hurts
To show that you really care about the person you are looking after when they are ill, So helps them to recover more quickly.
* smiling at you * flosey...it is also a requirement that you recognise what is happening to a patient before they know it is happening.
true, rose, the pain might be here but related to something elsewhere!
That makes sense, Rose, you would of seen it many many times and know what to expect. The person who is ill probably would be the first time and does not have a clue what is going on.Vital to show confidence and care goes a long way.
Sorry i am rambling on here.
Back to the grid.
i had one young buck in his early 20's. woke up extremely agitated, as they do. i stepped up to the side of the bed, cradled his head to my chest and cuddled him, with the reassuring words, it's okay, you are safe. to which he said...gee you have big boobs as he snuggled in. i nearly laughed my head off.
34 to go and I should get to bed, just after 1: am
I'll be back in the morning to finish up - goodnight Rose and Zooz
and anyone else still around
Have a deep sleep, Flosey :-)
sweet dreams flosey. and dinner is ready.
tks, zooz, would be heavenly
lol that is dare I say it..typical male!
ca5 you all later.
Bye, Rose, Have a restful night.
and back...oh yummy...zucchini and bacon fruttata.
Sounds very nice, Rose. Not had any breakfast yet!
yeah, zooz. am thinking fruttata is not a breakfast food......lol...so what's on your agenda for today?
Drink the rest of my tea whilst I babble for a bit more.Go to my parents and see if they need anything from the shops and tidy around a bit.buy some food..come home..eat when hungry..and then come back to babble.Such an exciting life i have..NOT..lol
hey, it's a life....lol....zooz you are so good to your parents. btw, the father has died, the mother and two kiddies are hanging in there.
Yes they are in a serious way.Not a good outcome really.Very sad.
Just read that the father took a direct hit - then it travelled to the rest of the family. Kids 12 mths and 18 mths.
Yes not good is it.poor youngsters. I hope the mother survives.
Hope so.
BBL - just popped back in for a minute. Good to see you, Zooz. Have a good day.
you too, Liz :-)
good morning all! Only here for a few minutes, must go shopping with my birthday girl first.
{{hugs}} my darling sprite
Hello, Sprite & Happy Birthday to your daughter!
*hugs rose* Hello dear friend. Sorry to be away this morning. We gave Caya her presents just now and I need to get her some birthday groceries.
xoxox to caya.
will do, thanks both of you :) 17 yo in a few days... amazing.
sprite what is her actual birth day?
where does all the time fly heh!
feb 3rd
Close to mine, Sprite. Mine is the 11th!
okay, thanx....brain cells are humming here
it sure does fly, zooz. Arriving at a time where we can stop parenting, though never stop being parents.
awwww good birthday, zooz!
You will never stop being a parent, Sprite no matter what their age is..lol
exactly, lol.
i think something must be wrong with me...i stepped back years ago. left my three to their own devices. but you are right...i am humming along in the background....lol
you have to stop parenting at some point, rose, I think you are fine. You don't stop caring, and you keep feeling you are the parent. But they must make their own way, mistakes and solutions and all.
Stepping back is part of being a parent, Rose..you are doing a great job :-)
my youngest will be 30 next january, my eldest 40 this year. middle son will be 33 this year.
old enough to know better, rose ;)
as you say dear friend
and thanx zooz. i remember being crowded by my mother...it was so stifling.
ok, have to go, laterz *hugs*
Toodle pips, Sprite.Have a great day!
lol back for a few minutes again... she forgot to walk terra
Welcome back, Sprite..lol
I swear, if their heads weren't firmly attached, they'd show up without them
I take it you have the cake already?
Oh gosh that is what my mother used to say to me..hahaha!
no, we are gonna get some in a few minutes
lol zooz! I guess we mothers all are the same in that respect
Stats for the 9 please, and hugs all around
My dad used to say put he wood in the hole...as i would always leave an indoor door open from the living room to the kitchen..lol

Ty Granny
mel.... could your doctor prescribe aspirin(plain) and prescribe the appropriate dose of codeine phosphate? that way you could dose yourself with the correct levels of the drugs.
They do not allow that here it has to be remade by the pharmacy

Good morning.
hi sukee :) How are you today?
Good so far, how are you? It's cold here.
I am fine. It is cold here too, but not as cold as in your country.
Yes, woke up to -13C
ouch! We are just a little below freezing point. And no wind today, so actualy it is rather pleasant outside
It's windy here too and that makes my apartment cooler too, even with the heat blaring.
I bet. A steady wind can drain the heat right out of a house.
I'm ready for spring...
At least January is almost over and February is a short month.
feb . is going to start bad here..winter storm coming and wind chills below zero..
that is true. And in march, we might get a little bit of early spring
Our energy providers have finally been forced to admit that because of world energy prices dropping they are now overcharging us and are going to reduce the prices - but not till the end of April????Think most of us will have turned our heating off by thern!
That sounds typical Deeha
oh that stinks, Deeha :(
Doesn't it just!!
in dutch we call that: "being offered a cigar from your own box"
I like that
I like nice sayings. Heard on yeserday. Wr have a series similar to Judge Judy with a brilliant pithy gay barrister - he said 'If you ever wonder what God thinks of money - look at the people he gave it to'!!
lolllll I love it.
Lol
fireflies. A grid with bite, for me.
wtg
Think Ill have a bit of a break. Good luck everyone. BBL
moving on as well. *hugs* and have a grand day, all.
Take care
Hi all! It's a cold, wet, rainy day here today. I've not yet opened the list - can anyone give me the stats for the 9
co 9/78
I was afraid of that :)
But I got it (just needed to plural a word I already had)
nbt nbs
need a clue for co 6/30 please
I don't have it, sorry!
thanks anyway
OK, I have it now
you need a large value tile for it - the largest in the grid, in fact
got it, thanks, matty
with 90 left, I think I shall need to go to the list
quota
Yep, that's in the grid
LOLmatty
hint for the co 9 with the high point tile. Didn't quite get it. Hi and gm all
Here here! Cannot see it!
Alleyn, was that a hint for the co 8/9?
Hello everyone
The co9 doesn't use the high point tile. The co6 does
gm, everyone! this is a tough grid!
The co9 is a variation (and plural) of what you would call the look of your facial skin
to 5/16 ?
Chef's hat
no x, right Molly?, but uses the high point tile?
co9 does not use the high point tile
to5 does
found a co7/8 but not the co9. hi all
finally, the dense one gets it, tyvm
found co8/9!
I have 3 co8. what are stats for the last 8 pls
rats, thought I had nbt. help with A in 2nd column pls
Like I said at 7:33, the co9 does not use the high point tile
peri...am5/14
ty phae, looking
not seeing that am5
am5 " a lot"

enough, plenty
ah, ty Une and phae
yw
yw :-)
finally, nbt and nbs...still have 23 remaining...bbl to finish.
t
good morning all
good morning
hello car and bichon
watch out - I'm in the grid today
Woot!
Une, pretty amaryllis
OK...my team is in the grid...VICTORY is ours!
tx molly -- so far, 9 stems from "senior" plants :-)
Well Car, they've had plenty of time to deflate all their footballs, so I'm sure they will do just fine.
Wow!
molly LOL!!
Now, now....
And almost the name of the stadium they play in, so it must be a VICTORY!
The old adage "cheaters never prosper" has now been disproved.
I have purposely avoided this topic here in the Babble Land and will continue to adhere to that policy today.
Should be a great game that goes down to the final minutes with Seattle winning on a Richard Sherman pick 6......giving me the perfect score to win my box in the Super Bowl pool!
LOL!
hehehee
These are the dates that matter: http://www.springtrainingconnection.co\nm/reportingdates.html
Once again, you've gotta use tinyurl.com people
Help please with the AC 6/27?
to take, to agree to
TY...couldn't see that.
i ac____ your suggestion . . . your gift
yw :-)
good morning! for the minute, my laptop is working, so let's all cross our fingers!
hey trif :-)
hello une
Go Trif, go!
Seriously, when you pick up mom, drop laptop here. He won't have any distractions.

Morning, Welki
i just found an at 4/5 for a different column
thanks car
i dont drink beer
kge, that soup looked very similar to one i make, almost identical, but i put beans in, too. tried to recreate a recipe from a restaurant on cape cod

hi owl!
ty elki
hi owl
welki oop
pssst, owl - it was part of the place where i had the soup (in massachusetts)
hi welk, fan.

no, it's co8 and plural for the 9
tela
and back to the pb i go - might as well bring some bread to go with the soup
that is an 8
i give up. time to get ready to go out, though I dread it
and cheese
snowy, cold and windy here today - would be a good day for that soup
well... make it!
cold here too... prob windy, haven't been out yet
can someone give me a clue for the 8 i need to get the 9 please?
do you like cabbage, kje? because you could easily make a cabbage and kielbasi soup, also with potatoes and carrots
awating more snow tomorrow.
the 8 you're looking for - co 4/7 plus hannibal ****er
i do like cabbage... I have a sweet and sour beef and cabbage soup that is great, but it takes an extra day to make the beef stock, so not a fast one
but good if you want to cook all day on a cold day
ty welki
nbt and nbs
Should the ge6 be obvious to me?
nm, got it
any clue for the co6/30 ?
You need the highest value tile
thanks...got it
Do you have the la6/24?

Well done!

What should I know about the ma6/27 (besides the fact it starts with ma, has six letters and is worth 27 points)?
the other 4 letters?
lol sorry, not there yet.
Yep, those are the four letters that are currently flummoxing me
me too
ca7?
it's a lemur, if it helps

hi nan...
Ru - I take it your profile statement is alluding to something?
yes
I only ask, because a few years ago, on a website on which I write (www.ciao.co.uk) one of the most prominent members there faked her own death. And that of the non-existent baby she wasn't actually pregnant with.
happens here all the time matty
fake deaths, fake people, dual identities..
throw in a couple of off-center people.. and you have an interesting group of word nuts
some people need a lot of drama and attention.. that's my guess
Matty, all due respect, people here are very gullible. And that is an environment that lends itself to a lot of fake and exaggerated stuff

oh we get winter..
this is a strange year.. it's like spring this weekend.

keep trying ocelot
molly's clue....o + stringed instrument....change last vowel...
Thinking in English is enough of a challenge for me.
ty pen and molly
French was actually my first language....
Interesting
Where were you born?
learned English at 4....i was born in a franco-american family in maine...
So lucky to be bililngual!
yes, came in handy when traveling...
had to learn french the hard way - and still don't know it very well -- not grammatically correct anyway. However in France the people are just pleased that you try and don't worry about it being "broken"
my oral language is not very good because i don't use it anymore....but my oral and reading comprehension are still quite good...
i had french in school from first grade through 10th....had enough by then!
I have some French and Spanish, but reallyonly speak Italian.
I had business in Italy so I had to learn.
ah....nice...
trying to learn some italian now -- before our trip in sept.
never studied italian....did have spanish, german and a year of japanese in college....
Exciting Nan.
Where are you going?
Penq, if you know one Latin language, the rest are easy.
naples to the amalfi coast, then to rome, then florence, venice, a cruise on the adriatic and back to vencie, followed by vienna and prague
yes, spanish was pretty easy....german and japanese not so much...
Nice!
wow, nan.....very nice!
Penq, I can imagine. lol
i am actually going on a tour to Spain in march....a 9 day tour ("if it's tuesday it must be madrid" type of trip)....
Have spent a lot of time in Spain. Interesting country.
we will be gone a month -- one week on the cruise
nan, that sounds fabulous, so happy for you
That's great Nan
haven't been to spain yet, but this may be our last trip to europe
i have been to many places in western europe, but never to spain...
It gets grueling as you get older.
You will find it very different Penq.
yes, hence the tour...not many decisions to make, lol....
Simpler, for sure.
only because you have to rely on tours -- husband is already complaining about having our own car for the first 4 days to get around
My dream is to go to Madrid to see the Prado. Theen I will have been at all the most famous art museums in the world
Spain is hard to do on your own due to the fact that the dites are very far apart. Lots of driving.
It's wonderful Bichon!
i have a friend who winters a few weeks in spain she says it is very affordable
we have probably visited a few of the same places, bichon
You would not be disappointed.
yes....it's hard for me to find people who both want to travel and can afford to....so i accepted this invitation from the friend i went to italy with in 2008....same tour company...
Nan, I will be cruising the Adriatic myself in June.
Penq, what company?
which ports, hego?
it's a globus tour....we booked through affordable tours...
Corfu, Zakynthos, Kotor, Zadar, Koper and Venice.
Also Bari
we are on Norwegian Cruise Lines -- Venice the only one in common
you ar ever fortuante. i do not know anyone who has the $ andthetime

I love cruising
Terrific!
looking forward to it

SIL will be our tour guide in Denmark.. he is Danish
that is a gorgeous cruise, aloy -- you will love it. Who are you sailing with?
Have you been there before?
Viking Cruise Lines
no, my first trip to Denmark
ooh - which I had known -- could have given you $100
i liked copenhagen...
wow.. how?
$100 USD per person in your party in shipboard credits
my first Viking cruise.. suggestions for apparel?
Be comfy!
Pack those black silk pants!
I like that hego.. black slacks, right? (-:
They have a deal for former clients that if you recommend someone who books they get $100 credit per person and so do we on the next trip we book if we make the booking within one year
lol, we did it again Aloy.
aww, guess I should have mentioned it sooner.. lol hego, indeed we did.. are you wearing tinfoil antennae?
not at the moment....
maybe we have a cyber connection we don't know about
I'm beginning to think so.
don't forget your bong aloy
silly Ruru
bong? lol ruru
well .. pot and hash are plentiful in Denmark :D
no kidding??????
No need to pack it, she can get one there.
i remember fish and pastries... ;o)
and foreigners can partake?
I don't know the laws. But a lot of people do.
wow, will talk to SIL about this matter
Look at her!!
young at heart, hego.. lol
IN June: shorts or capri's (2 pair), 1 skirt, walking shoes, sandals that can double for both a lot of walking and as dress shoes, 6 t-shirts or blouses(ncluding one with bling), 1 light jacket and 1 cardigan (to layer), umbrella. That, with socks, undies and toiletries should fit in a 24 -25" suitcase -- all your really want to haul around! The only meals that you really need to have a skirt for is the captain's dinner. Hubby didn't even take a jacket and tie. Just one dress casual outfit for him. It will be really hot in June so don't forget to pack a crushable sun hat or plan to buy a throwaway when you land. Have a wonderful time -- we did the Amsterdam to budapest one and you are doing the best part.
aloy....will come back as aaalooooooo
hi all
lol
nan, ty so much! am saving your great suggestions
LOL ruru!!
Wow! Nan is awesome!
*mails some Zigzags to Aloy...*
Hi Peri
wish I was going on one of these trips.
hi peri..
Need a travelling buddy.
I will pack Peri in my big suitcase.
She will fit.
*should have mentioned -- the clothing was all colour co-ordinated giving me lots of mix and match options
that would be great, hego
I have never been on a cruise

I've been cruised though
haha ruru
haven't been on a cruise either...

hi peri .. Tuscan kale/canelini/sausage soup last night
we need to organize a babble cruise
that sounds good aloy..
sounds good Aloy
It is good!
got the recipe off the box of broth.. it was so delicious
one more thing -- I always take a huge purse on the plane and have a tiny crossstrap one for day excursions.
ah....a babble cruise....i can pack my boggle pen... ;o)
Love Italian country fare.
Progresso Tuscan chicken broth
lol Penq
count me in -- how about the alaskan one?

Their are Scrabble cruises, why not Babble cruises?
I do the same with the purses Nan.
There are, sorry
can babble people a-fiord the fares?

perhaps if we had enough people, the tour company would sweden the deal....

Oh. I see.. I bumbled into a pun fest.
you did indeed, hi Dorens
yes, unfortunately...
Hi Doren!
hi folks
:D
Hi Welki
hi welki
came in to see if you were here, ru - having same problems with baxter again, that you've had with dylan. vet gave me vanectyl, but suggested benadryl in between - is that what you give dylan?
penquis started it Doren..I'm innocent
hi welki...
Doren knows you're never innocent!
I do Benadryl twice a day and he's on cortisone too.. and two anti-biotics right now..
oh - and he's now taking salmon oil, vitaman e (and an egg in his food 3x week)
vitaman! reminds me of i love lucy :)
I have allergy drops from UC Davis for him to build up his immune system
vita-meeta-vegimin!
Doren does in fact know I'm innocent.. just ask her :D
ta 6/21 please?
OMG! I thought she was talking about a person!
they never did find out what he's allergic to, did they? can't figure out w/baxter
hego - sorry, it's about our four legged friends
no.. we went for a comprehensive coverage of several candidates that are bothering him
passes smelling salts to hego
(and apologies for hi-jacking chat)
All the cadidates bother me.
candidates.lol
ty Aloy
*sigh* so we're sort of in the same doggie-boat. he's still on the royal canin?
yes
it's so difficult to groom him
and bathing him at least once a week helps too..
Saw Welki's hubby dropping egg into his food 3 x a week.
I have to do Dylan every Saturday
and bathing him atleast once a week..
i've tried sensitive shampoo, tea tree oil shampoo - it's so dry here, i have to make sure i don't overdo it
I'll stop now.
the fish oil will help him welki
there are medicated shampoos too from the vet that are helpful
i give it to him 2x a day, hasn't made a difference in the past month
it's a total drag isn't it
i feel so friggin' bad for him
me too
he's on the canin venison, right?
I took him off the venison to the hydrolyzed protein
he was throwing up the venison
kibble or can?
kibble
that's weird, since the venison is supposed to also be a gastro-formula
yeah.. well.. ya know..
yep. they defy logic.
I had Dylan on Apoquel which was helping.. but then his immune system crashed and he got a bad viral thing
he was one of two dogs out of Davis on Apoquel who had this bad reaction.. out of thousands of dogs
i've read about apoquel, my vet hasn't
hehe - he might have read about it, he hasn't suggested we switch from the vanectyl yet
it's expensive.. but worth a shot..
it knocked back the itchiness by 70%
i'll give him a call on monday; he's a great vet, i trust him 100%
it takes 6 weeks to be effective
i'm lucky I have fantastic vets
I drive an hour and a half to get to them though
That's quite a commute.
yep.. but it's worth it
If it helps, for sure.
just spoke w/clinic - they stock the canin HP and the tech hasn't heard of apoquel (might not be available up here). my primary vet's gone for the day, but he's got a note on his desk to find out about it - so will speak with him on monday
i really appreciate the information, ru
sure.. happy to help.. we're in the same boat. I think Dylan is a more serious case though.. he's in the top 1%
it's a constant battle for me
Dylan is lucky to have you Ru.
i know he's had a rough go of it, and so have you.
soooo sorry, ru -- sounds miserable for poor Dylan :-(
at one point I thought I was going to freak out.. but it's more under control right now
freak out because he was scratching himself raw?
thanks une
with baxter, it's all over, not just in one spot - same with dylan?
so hard to see your furry friends miserable
yes.. and skin infections and staph infections and bald spots ... with Dylan it's his whole body
me 6/21?
His father never had a hot spot in his life either.
oh, man, that's just heartbreaking . . .
roast beef + mr. gore
none with baxter's parents, either

his father was such a great dog too
later, all -- heading out to pick up sweet mastiff boy on 3-day journey from Florida to Wisconsin :-)

thanks for the fun chat, all.. must scoot - ciao for now
but if they are the group that protests the seal hunt they aren't very popular with our atlantic fishermen --- too many seals have killed the cod fishing
i am done... :oD
i though they were international
WTG Penq!!!!
the group that protests eating lobster...
Bye Aloy!!
ty!
I think they would protest that Nan.
Eating lobster, really?
people for the ethical treatment of animals, I believe.
I think they tend to forget that humans have their place in the food chain too!
ma 6, please?
I wish folks would be as conscientious in protecting children.
agreed, hego
it's a kind of monkey Nan.
they object to how lobster is cooked...
no idea hego
ma plus hot ***a*. a chocolate drink.
they would rather we poison ourselves?
I kill mine before cooking.
Although I rarely cook lobster.
ty hego
yw, glad you got that sad clue. :)
we usually buy it cooked because cooking at home just stinks up the house. Really needs to be cooked outdoors.
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help
I usually eat it in restaurants only.
simpler
WTG!!! Nan!!!
only problem with buying precooked is you have to be careful that it comes from NB or Maine
congrats!
Why?
i don't often cook lobster at home, but i eat it often....there is a seafood store here that will cook a batch for a couple dollars....less smell in the kitchen...
I don't think you'd want to eat the stuff that comes from the polluted waters of china or indonesia!
Nice to live in Maine.
same goes for crab and shrimp
We get lobster here in NJ too.
Maine lobster comes from either new england or new brunswick, i think.....
maine lobster is actually a specific species, i think....
caught locally.
i live on the coast in the lobster shipping capital, so i see it often on menus....
Well, out in te ocea, actually quite far out.
the ocean
all this talk of food is making me hungry --- off for lunch and will be back at the flip. hagd everyone
yes, Maine lobster is different from ours.
Bye Nan.
if you ever see a lobster that is smaller than a pound, it's not from Maine either...
illegal to catch....
That would be illegal here.
had to give up a cabbage and beef supper at my bro's....he said his driveway was not plowed...not taking any chances....
smart
it's so cold, too....really don't want to go out...
Really col today here too.
It's up to freezing now. A high for the day.
wow....we are up to 16 now...
Oh my!!
yes, that's one reason i told my brother i will pass on dinner....really don't want to go back out....with the wind, the air is lethally cold...
my neighbor helped me shovel out and she shoveled the walk....told her i was knitting her a scarf...
shoveling must be murder. Brr..
yup...glad i did not have to do a lot of scraping....did what i could and moved the car back to its spot....left the wipers up so they would not freeze to the windshield...
hi and bye une.. and othes.
bye Dorens
I I was running into the shower before to wash my hair, now I'm running into the city for dinner and Jazz at Lincoln Center... Big night. happy babbles
bye dorens...
Have a great time!

Done. Have a good night everyone.
Another quiet night in Babble land... Hello lurkers. :-)
Not lurking, but peering at the lurkers in the bushes.
Lets peer together, MNolly. :-)
not exactly lurking - I have this open, but doing other things on the computer.
Ah, the multi-tasker. So many of them.
Hey Java.
I know of no other way to get it all done
Hey back
Molly, did I tell you about my new Netflix fix? Sons of Anarchy. Sublime!
I have read about that show, but not watched it.
Oooh. Watch it my friend. I avoided it for months, because of the title. I don't 'do' anarchy, but it is a good series. Believe me.
Hey Java, whats the weather like in Wisconsin?
:-( Ah well. I'll come back tomorrow. Nite all
No action here Soodle. Dead as a door nail.
Ah, went away just back. Weather in Wisconsin right now is just cold, but there's snow on the way. We're looking for 4-6 inches where I live, and less as you go further north and west. Milwaukee and south are looking for up to about 11 inches. Temps will be in teens and lower this coming week.
hi java
Hi - answering a question asked about an hour ago. Probably not going to get to the questioner!
nope soodle isn't on right now
Yeah, and there's a 6 hour time difference, so soodle is probably asleep. I would be at the same time!
hello all. time to put this sucker to bed.
FW and bedtime
good evening, everyone :-)
