3 elusive words for morning. bbl
good morning all
{{hugs}} good morning my friend
*hugs rose* Hello dear friend, good evening to you. How was the movie received?
* giggle * that's tomorrow night, dearest.
lol ok, sorrrrry! Getting it all mixed up. Waiting for the phone to ring with the results of tim's exams.
no wonder !! you're sitting on a hot seat today. i'd be jumpy and scatty too
couldn't fall asleep last night, lol. And tim was just beastly yesterday too. Nerves all over the place.
i bet... little devil... he knows how much he hasn't studied.
oh he did... just too late, lol, as usual. And to be honest, even with top grades, we'd all still be anxious for the phonecall. It is just that kind of thing. And that kind of vibe.
my gosh, sweetie. your eyes must be just about falling out of your head. * hugs *
am sitting here with all phones around me, lol. And I am old and wise, I can handle this kind of stress. I know how to breathe..... breathe.... breathe, darn it, breathe!
roflollll... you poor thing....
I am fine, sweetie. I really am.
where is the boyo at this minute?
guess
in bed????
got it in one. In bed and asleep.
and mum deals with it all... gee... it's the same the world over.
ain't that the truth!
((Rose)) How are things?
and caya is away today, information day at the university she wants to go to. Won't be home till 8 pm. Then, tomorrow, Tim has to work a late shift. And if he graduates, he will be off the day after on a vacation. So... no possibility for a nice celebratory family dinner.
hey ya jaxx. xoxox blood tests improving, although still not completely normal yet.
hello jaxx :)
Hello, sprite. Hope you are OK too
ugh !! sprite, isn't that the way?? kids just don't understand that parents too like to celebrate mile-stones.
I am fine, thanks! And you yourself?
how are you doing jaxx ?
I am still waiting to see the consultant next week. Other than that I am still Tottering along.
lol yeah. And when I showed a bit of disappointment on my face, he was all over me. Nerves...
stressful meeting, jaxx?
you know what sprite? i really recommend you load up a spray bottle with water, and when he, or anyone else, starts with the negative stuff, squirt them. it works wonders on puppies.
The last time I saw him he'd lost my test results but thought he'd like to 'have a dig on the left side of my neck'. Nice way to put it, eh?
true, and on kittens. Good idea, lol. But hey, I can manage a bit of hostility when I know it is just nerves.
nice bedside manner... NOT
omg jaxx, that is horrible! He needs to get a people's skills' transplant stat!
I have lost two friends in the last year to MRSA and I am not too sure that I want to go ahead with it now.
would you be going into the same hospital as your friends?
*hugs jaxx* Very stressful things to be worrying about. Can you go to a different hospital?
One of them.
I started at a different hospital but they transferred me to this one
did your doctor not have visiting rights at the other hospital?
It wasn't that. here, they ask you to make your own appointment, which I did. They offered me three alternatives and I chose the new hospital about 7 miles away. I saw a consultant there twice and he sent me to his colleague at the big hospital.
ah I see. Could you discuss your worries with him, and the reason, and ask him to treat you at the new hospital?
The new hospital, indeed all the hospitals in this area have been on various states of alert as things have been critical.
quite worrisome :(
fireflies. Must be the easiest grid ever.
It has been a worrying few weeks. Husband has a knee problem which has made him tetchy, two of my friends have died and a neighbour too. Then the washing machine and boiler decided they would join and promptly broke down. Happy times. Still, the alternative is worse.
Way to go, sprite
WTG SPRITE !!! i agree. i found it easy too
true. But quite a lot to stomach, jaxx.
It seems that the fates are busy putting knots in the web of my life.
{{hugs}} jaxx. i have a feeling you may need some dear
Just keep on holding my hand, Rose. I am glad that things have improved for you though.
will hold you in my thoughts and prayers, jaxx. May things lighten up for you very very soon.
i am hanging on dear jaxx. will keep you in my prayers too.
Thank you both. I appreciate the support.
*hugs* to you both. I am gonna do some translating for a bit.
Bye, sprite.
{{hugs}} sweetie. xoxoxox
The tetchy one has returned home. I had better go and see how he is. Thanks for the hand, Rose. I do appreciate it
xoxox jaxx
Good morning all.
Good morning, everybody:)
Hi crossy.
nbt
Sigh, they just asked a bunch of younger people about the Magna Carta on the news and they had no idea what it was.
I have kids that cannot tell time on a clock with hands on it, so that does not surprise me in the slightest...
18+ kids
What do they teach kids in elementary school?
The terms "half-past" and quarter-to" are totally foreign to them.
I have no idea. As I have mentioned in here before, I have one 19 year old young lady, who is missing one English credit for graduation. The book I helped her with for her novel study is the first one she has read in her entire life!
Wow.
Yup. Wild, is it not?
I would never have gotten through my teens without reading.
And you think all the kids today could make computers dance, but that is not so; they know how to turn them on and play games--that is it. I have to give at least one crash course in computer basics every single week. Many cannot even open Word and type out a paper for class.
I had my doubts about my nieces when they were in their teens, but now seem to read a lot in their 30s. I like to think part was because I always gave them books as kids.
... clocks are all digital so what do you need to use an analog clock for ... and if you have a digital clock, the terms half past and quarter to are meaning less ... ... and I'll bet you'll find that there parents haven't read a book in thirty years ... the kids have never seen their parents read so why should they ... just ask them ...
Sadly, that is often the case, Dose.
I would not have survived without my books in my early years.
I never noticed my parents reading when I was a kid, but I was a voracious reader. But, they did take me to the library.
... absolutely ... but now you will not survive without instagram and facebook ...
... yeah ... but I'll bet there were books in your house ... there aren't today
I think reading fiction is so important.
I have 3 book cases filled with books and a Kindle :)
morning all! bottom row done
good morning.
... it is ... ... but in a world where instant gratification is king ... where the attention span is about two minutes ... who is going to rad a novel?
I pick up a lot of freebie novels for my kindle and read at least one every other day.
... yeah ... but you have that because you've always had that ... I can show you a list of kids taking "applied" and "college" level courses who will violently disagree with you
But, I mainly read in bed. I don't take the time to read during the day because I'm online. I can see that.
When I took a college literature course you would have business students arguing why it was important. Now they are becoming the majority.
... oh well ... gotta run for the bus ... so that I can attempt to teach math to some of these kids ... ... ... there's another sad tale
Funny enough, my parents never read for leisure.
My mother did, not my father.
My beloved reads as I do, lots and lots, but my son does not bother too much.
I loved books ever since I read my first Dick and Jane :)
Books were my escape as a child:)
New worlds to explore.
Good morning, kids. MY mother remains a voracious reader at 84, as I am. My father was not a reader.
Mine too, I was kind of shy and bullied and did not have that many friends.
Howdy, scrabby.
Hi scrabby.
I was never more happy as a child as when i got permission to get books out of the adult section:)
One of my favorite childhood memories is climbing the hige maple tree in our yard and reading a book up there, hiding from everyone.
*huge
And when I skipped high school I would go to the public library and read Steinbeck :)
We are birds of a feather.
My room was my sanctuary. All my books and my models. You could never punish me by sending me to my room, because that is where I usually wanted to be in the first place-- that or at the library or in our communal treehouse
My sister and I climbed into the school dumpster one summer and found discarded textbooks. We loved those books--English, math, etc.
cool
<---total nerd and geek. Dork too.
lol@ reading in the dumpster:)
Yeah, once a nerd always a nerd :) That is why I am still a Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who fan :)
it was Dr Who in the 70's for me and by 79 it was Star trek, and I fell hard for Space 1999
a person who does st 4/8 should be accepted.
Too bad it only ran for two seasons
I used to love to watch that show. Loved the woman who could turn into anything.
that and that SF space series with Lorne green whose name escapes me atm
Battlestar Galactica.
That's the one
Thing ran for only one season:(
I seemed to always lick the ones that gox axed early--except for Dr Who.
and Star trek
pick
There were a few.
Down to 23, have to go eat something.
Down to 61 and seeing nuffin'.
this grid shows its teeth in a hurry:(
The list is very helpful. Surprise.
I cannot remember the last I used the list. I make myself wait for 20 or less to go, so because of that limitation I have set for myself it has been many months:(
I have been lazy with the grids;(
I do not think that I have ever broke 1000 on the "who's hot" list. Think I look at that list about twice a year:)
I do this game for fun and relaxation, not for rankings.
I used to feel compelled to finish every grid. I stayed up late to finish, searching and searching, asking for clues. No more. I don't have the time.
My first year on babble was the same.
This sounds like an AA meeting
Hi ruru. Yes, we are discussing our recovery from Babble, how we no longer make ourselves get fireworks.
Whay are you awake so early, Ru?
Can't sleep
Sorry. That was me 2 nights ago.
That's for sure Scrabs.
Hahaha, Bunny Remy just came sprinting down the stairs and across the living room. I still laugh at having rabbits in my house.
I never look for the ranki ngs any more. And there are times I don't finish
Mine have finished their morning meal and are looking for their Greenies [chews]
I gave them their morning salads. Remy runs up and sits at Gulliver's gate. They sniff each other.
Gulliver cn't run free?
I have to get ready for work.
good morning
I would think gulliver would travel
hi Annie. Going to be a warm one today
Gulliver is in his bedroom. Soon I will "bond" them in a new bedroom--neutral territory is the strategy.
91 degrees here
Haha, Ruru.
Hi Annie and Bobby
Bye, folks.
Hi Scrabbs :)
I love that the rabbits have their own bedrooms:)
It kind of sounds excessive to me crossy
Lol, my parents used to stack us kids three deep to one room:)
But i don't have a lot of hare-raising experiences
lol, good one
Now it is time for Crossy's tidbit of the day!!. You know the large square power block that plugs into the wall that often accompanies phone chargers? Well, that is also known as a "Wart"

Aww, just heard Christopher Lee has died.
hello. Lovely weather, appointments for various tests, scans, etc. lined up. My oncologist is wonderful; she really follows through. |Now let's set if she can cure me!
((ruby))
God I pray Ruby finds healing and comfort in your will. Let her body and soul be healed by your grace and mercy and let all around her be wise and wonderful doctors, friends, and family. When more then one prays together there is power in your word. And all Gods people say AMEN.
{{suefrad}} what a lovely prayer! Thank you
{{cross}}
or even {{crossy}}
your welcome.
There are 26 different plants flowering in view of my deck. It Is sooo beautiful
Has any of you ever had a liver biopsy? How bad is it? They want to keep me overnight in the hospital
My father had one, Ruby, While it is invasive, it is not that bad overall. some discomfort, but nothing to worry about usually.
my doctor told me to take some of my morphine and Xanax before I leave home!
it is usually outpatient stuff
I would love some household morphine;)
fireworks
Yaa for Fish-Fish!
R.I.P Christopher Lee. Your horror movies scared the stuffing out of me as a child--I loved every minute of it!
Love 4 Luke is a wonderful facebook page for an 14 month old boy with cancer. Please go look, it is such a loving fun page.
During my stay as the Princess Margaret Lodge in Toronto, I saw child cancer cases that broke my heart. Cancer is especially terrible for the children:(

French fire & plural
fr4...worry
ty, harp
thx!
Hmm, the dictionary says that word is French for mate or partner...
Not saying it was correct, however, it still got me the word needed;)
I guess it could be a hot mate : D
hi all.
need to vent. I have a 2010 Honda Civic. It has black trim on the edges of the doors. This is chipping off. I thought it was black paint. I took it to the dealer and was informed that it was tape! There would be a nominal fee to fix it. I just got a call from the body shop. I need two pieces of the tape about 12 inches long. Each will be $30 and that is not counting labor. I told the man I would think about. I am about to send an e-mail and photo to Honda corporate offices. $60 plus is not nominal to me.
Dealerships always rip you off
I will also look into other places near me who could probably do the same thing for much less.

"She...better" It's faster this way.
I feel people are looking at me funny. I get that a lot.
thank you sue, I will look into that
I was trying to abbreviate "She turned me into a ****! A ****? I got better."
My attempt to make things go faster actually made things go slower.
La la la...
Lol. Just looked at Your profile Douglas. I think I might change mine. How does 'ex wife of one, mother of three, daughter of two, cousin of many, niece of 24, and employee of the State' sound? Gee! I actually think I could make myself sound interesting!! Lol
hi everyone - late start on this one
Soodle, you don't need to work at making yourself sound interesting here. That is someone else's job. You are interesting because of your bright and buoyant personality.
And, hello all :-). The grass is cut. The daughter has been delivered to work. The dinner has been cooked, eaten & washed-up-after. I think I have a whole hour to myself to babble. A rare treat!
Shucks, Molls. :-)
*Predicts Soodle will be here for 3 1/2 seconds until she bails for Facebook
Nope. I need the (relative) calm of Babble this evening. My Dad is back in hospital - this time with pneumonia. Having spent the past few days with him in the ER, I am basking in the calm of the Babble chat!
I lit a candle for your sweet Dad. I'm sorry that you two have been through so much lately.
Thank you Molls! Much appreciated. But there comes a time when you start to wonder what exactly to pray for. My beloved Dad is 87. He no longer has the use of his legs. He is no longer allowed to drink alcohol. He wears adult diapers. He is no longer allowed solid food - he is on a 'mashed & moist' diet. Quality of life?? It's very difficult.
I'm sorry. This is a very personal battle being fought by my Dad, and to a lesser degree by me, his daughter. I have no right to introduce it into the chog. I'm just a bit addled at the moment.
We can still send blessings to him for peace and comfort :-)
stuck on that re 5/20 -- clues please?
sorry to hear of your troubles soodle -- it is so difficult to watch a parent fading away
Thank you, Babs! And, Nan that re 5/20 is driving me nuts.
RE 5/20 sounds like a dogs name plural.
Sorry to hear about your father being how he is, soodle.
ty zoom
Oh you can introduce it to the chat anytime, Soodle. I went through the exact same thing with my Dad.
*!* ta da *!*
We are ill equipped to help our loved ones leave this world.
Ah, Zooz! That was the one. Many thanks indeed. And thanks, fellow Babblers for the support. Chances are, my aged parents will last longer than me.... I feel I have aged 20 years in the last three weeks!
Whoooo-hoo Nan!!!! Well done!
i will pray for strength. for both of you.
Just to ad a little cheer, hello everybody. {{soodles}}
{{molly}}
and TO!
hi, ruby!
How did it go today Ruby?
Getting the ducks in a row: another blood tst tomorrow and biopsy and both scans are cheduled.
Im not o good, though
Hey (rubes))
Here is an image someone once told me about. Imagine all the good thoughts, warm wishes, and prayers being sent to you as a comforting blanket, wrapped around you.
Thank you, that is comforting but I am very scared
Lol Molly!! Our little Rubyfoo would suffocate!!!!
great phantom: isotope
Of course your scared, Rubes. I would be. Anybody would be. But you are a tough nut! You'll be grand.
It's okay to be scared. Normal, in fact. Try some deep breaths and reach down for that inner strength that has always gotten you through.
And hey, no one suffocates wrapped in a warm blanket of healing wishes.
good night, ladies
Night, Ruby. X
good night, ruby. whatever it is, i will pray for strength for you as well.
thank you, TO
he6?
he 6 is a compound word that builds off the he 4
((Soodle)) So sorry to hear about your dad. All you can do is pray that his passing will be peaceful and pain free. I had to watch my much loved stepfather go through the same thing with the exception that he thought my mother was being kept in the hospital freezer! You may think he has no quality of life but I bet if you asked him, he'd still rather be where he is.
Thanks Jaxx. Through good times & bad, my Dad has always been a constant source of support, moral, financial & emotional for me. I want him to live forever. I
None of us can live forever, soodle, unfortunately. What is important is how we have lived our lives and how we make our exit. The love will live on.
I am not feeling too good, soodle. I am going to go to bed. I will remember both you and your parents in my prayers.
anyone here?
