mattygroves, are you there?
matty, if you see this, please email me (addy in profile). I found the restaurant Liz and I went to.
I have just arrived
Literally - I have three words
hello matty :) Liz sent me a photo of the view from the restaurant and it brought back my memory :)
Oh wow - I've just dropped you an email (omygod, an 11 letter word - tell me it ain't so! Bet it starts with a vowel)
it does, lol
Siigh. I'm doomed. Doomed, I tell you!
And I now realise, just now, that I have to go to the penalty box.
roflol! Best place in babble, the pb. Good food and drinks, cabana boys, jacuzzi and lazy chairs...
ok, emailed you the address of the restaurant, and another good place to go eat.
Oooh, sounds lovely. Pass me another mojito, please
Thank you Sprite!!
yvw!
Hi and hugs :)
hi Liz :) *hugs*
Really happy the the photo prompted your memory.
They look fun - open til 4.00am - my 4.00am days are long over...
You'll love Amsterdam
me too :) It was so funny, I was looking at the picture and remembering our afternoon, and that brought back just enough info to help me find the right restaurant.
I'm really looking forward to it
I remember the afternoon - such a great time but had no idea about the restaurant, even when you sent the name!
You should try to book Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh museum before you go - if they're your things, because the queues were horrendous.
I really hope the weather will clear up for you. Even though Amsterdam is wonderful in every kind of weather, it is more fun to walk the streets when it is dry. Make sure to bring good rain clothing, matty.
I will. I have an interview the day I fly so I shall be going suited and booted
very good advice. Rather popular places. Oh, and matty, if you are willing to travel outside Amsterdam, you might want to visit De Zaanse Schans. Let me find you link.
Matty: http://tinyurl.com/lutgw6s
It doesn't look so bad, weather wise http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2759794
It was much busier last time than when we went the time before, though the time of year probably made a difference.
it looks pretty good indeed, matty :)
It's the SAIL festival as well. That will make things busy, apparently
oh yes, SAIL is always crazy busy. My love and daughter will be canoeing past the sail boats on saturday. Not so busy on the water, lol, as on the streets.
Friend of my is just about to start a year's doctorate at Leiden uni.
It should be interesting :)
oh lucky her/him! Leiden is a great great uni city. I studied there as well. Lovely streets and views, good restaurants and cafes, great place to be.
I think she's very excited.
if she needs a contact in the netherlands, feel free to give her my email addy, Liz.
OK will do - she's a lovely person - daughter of close friend.
your friends are my friends, grin
:)
Stuck at 44!
ok, mi7/52 is a complete unword. Jeez.
Don't have that.
start with fog, then a vowe, then short for england
That's a dumb word
right... it is scots. Irregular verb form.
3
vowe = vowel, but you already guessed that
Weird!
in english, it is -oo-
I gave one 10 but not the 10/11 combo
that makes fireflies
*have but you guessed that too!
Liz, start with against. I think it is something chemical, must check
Congrats, sprite.
I figured it started like that.
yes it is. Chemical binary compound of a metal and this chemical
the 11 ends in beware of the **** of march
Thanks
yvw. *hugs* to you both, and to matty a wonderful day, and to Liz and love a great evening and a restful night.
Enjoy your day
Hugs
Oooh, found the AN10. But it's already plural
Yay - got it ;)
10s and 11s sorted
WTG Matty
Antimime. Sensible people (like Lord Vetinari of Ankh Morpork) who really, really don't like mi4s
:)
Enjoy your day- taking another break. If I don't catch you before, have a wonderful time in Amsterdam.
Thank you! I will eat toast in a moment and then shower
May I have K stats please?

Ends in the highest value letter on today's grid
Oh okay..lol
haha not sure how but that seem to do the trick. Thanks, Mattygroves!
Hey all! 5th letter of 10 pls
You're welcome!
M, Alleyn
Got it! Thx
Good morning all, laundry day.
Hello, Sukee :-)
Hi zoo.
How are you today?
I am well thanks :-) And yourself?
Good, the humidity is back, going up to 30 today :)
I am a bit sleepy :)
Lovely day here yesterday.Just average today by the looks of things.
Well it is very early for you still.
Especially since I read to about 11 and then listened to a podcast until midnight :)
I love reading whilst in bed just before sleep. It seems to be a routine I have now and do not feel right if I do not follow it..lol
Me too.
Nice to know I am not the only one then :-) I have a pile of books waiting to be read. The last book I read had 1535 pages with very small writing.took me an age to read!
hi zoom and sukee :))
Thankfully I have a iPod and can read my kindle books and can adjust the size of the print :) I hate having to wear reading glasses in bed.
Hello, Mrp :-)
I'm looking for a long book I can really get into.
Hi MR
I'm reading Go Set a Watchman right now and Patti Smith's Just Kids is next.
I read Fountainhead recently...
Be right back.
The one I just finished was A suitable boy by Vikram Seth.took a while to get into but enjoyed it.
Not heard of that one, Mrp.
I have started a five book series book one pawn of prophecy is done, on the second one called queen sorcery these are by David Eddings.
have you read the White Queen ?
You know that name rings a bell.Who is it by?
Sorry I have read so many books over the years..lol
Philippa Gregory
The White Queen, The Red Queen and The Kingmaker's Daughter... historic fiction
Ah I think they made that into a film?
It was a series
I will have to check the books out at the local library. If i like it i will look into buying the books :-)
I'm reading The Other Boleyn Girl now...
Laundry in dryer now :)
That is very good Kate
I read the Other Boleyn Girl, good one
That is a film also!
I can download books from the library, I have The Girl on the Train on hold.
I also read a lot of freebie novels :)
I christened my new iPad by giving myself an iTunes gift card :) I also have Patti Smith's new book on pre-order.
I am considering an iPad for my birthday...
I got a mini and I love it,
I have to have a real book.Just love the feel of a book. Then seeing them neatly on by bookshelves! Am I weird thinking like that do you think..lol
are you on a plan or did you buy outright?
Not really, I have 3 bookshelves filled with books.
yes zoom... Maddi and I are like that. Luke likes reading on the screen
I bought it, under $300 at WalMart
ah, well our outright price is $550 plus
I suppose the price depends on the storage space on the ipad does it? I am sure there are three sizes of memory to choose from?
But still worth it I think. I had a 1st generation one that cost over $700 but it's obsolete now.
and the cutie at the store is making me wanna go and check it out again!
I chose 16 for storage. I won't be filling it up with as many apps as my first one. I got the mini because my Kindle is dying and I wanted an ebook reader. This gives me access to kindle and iBooks.
And of course I can listen to podcasts and look at Facebook :) It also gave me a camera and mine had broken, hence the new kitty picture :)
Yes I did see that.I was wondering what they were looking at..lol
i just finished summer secrets by jane green. excellent book... .also read the paris wife.. loved it
So, I was looking at a new Kindle and a new camera so got both together.
hi ivesy.
They are watching baseball in that picture.
and good morning.. !
I have nicknames for them now to do with the Toronto Blue Jays. Smoaky and Muni.
Hello, Ivesy, just had a quick glance.Looks like it could be a good read!
Has a good rating on GoodReads :)
they were both excellent zoo.. i am going to give ermest hemingways books a try now.
It does look good.
Oh, you have to read A Moveable Feast by Hemingway :) I am not a fan of his other books but I love this one. It's about his life in Paris.
Paula McLain book looks like a strong storyline too!
That being said, I have 3 Hemingway novels on my bookshelves. I read two in uni.
i was looking at that one sukee. i think i will give it a try... am trying to collect the classics (and read them)...but working in library i see so many books i want to read lol
I collect books about the Lost Generation and include him.
I hear you, I worked in a library for 12 years :)
oh ! that is awesome.. been there almost 5 yrs now
If i worked in a library I aam not sure how much work would get done..lol
lol. zoo.. i am in charge of processing all the new books... so guess who gets first shot at them!!
Whoo, got an 8
Nice, Ivesy!
I would be looking out for first editions too!
Lol, cats playing catch. They have this mouse they both love and the black one carries it over to me to throw.
Nice one, Sukee!
found a very old edition of gone with the wind..and some classics when we were cleaning out the stacks.
Aww sounds sweet, Sukee :-)
Both take turns during the day coming to me for cuddles too.
Our library often have sales to clear out the old stock ready for the new to be shelved.
need a coffee... bbl.. trying to break the habit of spending money on tim hortons coffee everyday.
The only problem I have with that is the edges of the books look so grubby with all the hands it has passed through :-(
Take a flask of coffee from home, Ivesy! save a fortune that way :-)
I have a whole bunch of books that are x-library. The last place I worked allowed us to buy hardcovers for $1.
Good morning, everybody:)
Hi crossy.
Yes you can grab a good bargain here too. Some books are going for as little as 15 pence for a hardback.
Hello, crossy :-)
So, I still have a few unread. So, if all the wifi dies and we can't ever get online again I am okay :)
Of course it does matter what the content of the book is about.I would ot buy it just because it is cheap..lol
Yes :)
good plan there, sukee, I like your thinking!
not*
My bookcase is full as is my e-reader. I am ready for any crisis!
Of course, it might be like that Twilight Zone episode and I break my glasses...
That was a good episode
Quick better get a second pair on stand by!
One of my favorite authors is in the grid, Austen
Jane?
Of course
lol
Anyway, the game will go down in 2 minutes here for a few. I'll be back after.
Oh yes the babble freeze!
Time for more coffee.
And back, cleaned the cat box :)
Welcome back :-)
Cool Canada made it into the Little League World Series.
I am afraid I know nothing about that subject, Sukee.I take it they have done well to get into the world series then?
I don't know a lot either but, yes I guess that is good :)
Means they are one of the two best teams, they are playing Mexico.
they have qualifying rounds . have to win so many games to move on.. the championship is a usa team and a international team..
Any clue on the top o in the right column?
Are we talking about football/soccer?
Baseball.

t.c, sukee
hi, all. there are some real jaw-breaker words in the grid today. For once, I actually found words that I hear daily as sounds from my pets.
Howdy, Angel:)
Hello. I'm struggling at the moment with EM words - the first em5/14, the em6/24 after it, an em 6/21 and the last em6/24. Can anyone point me in the right direction
em5/14 ...e + to fix or repair something
there is one spot in the grid that is one letter short of making me ill.,,
... 3m 6/24 ... em + head norse god
Actually, substitute another consonant at the end of the almost making you ill word
... that was em 6/24
I was referring to em 6/21
... em6/21 ... change the vowel and consonnent in the middle
With a C at the end, em 6/24 would be a vomit inducer
... noticed that one ... could use it for the 6/21 except with a different final letter
... just checked what it is ... ... it's the stuff that makes ipecac work ... seems ironic
... and the other em6/24 is a laxative ... now that is ironic
... oh well ... enough silliness ... other things to do for a while ... ... luck to all
I think the key to this grid is to just refuse to give up....
Holy guacamole, an 11 letter word
be careful, bichon, lest the 10's and 11 crack your jaws.
is that a hint Angel?
nope, bichon, just a caution
however, I believe one of those words dislikes currency
and that is a clue, bichon...
can you share, pls

Much more prevalent! There are SO many odd kids out there, so many. We see the clues in late infancy and early toddlerhood.

hi everyone :) does anyone have a clue for the sa 7/32 please?
Ends like what y'all Canadians call Horton's place
<scratching head >...ty molly, i'll look for it
santims
thank god, she just gave up and told us!
Well Harp, I wouldn't have expected a Montana girl to get that clue : D
ty molly, I went to pour a glass of wine... pretty tired, all I could think of was coffee shop and Timmy's
found a weasel. we DO have those in Montana!
Sometimes clues don't mean the exact word (Timmy's) but a variation of the word. And since Timmy's isn't in the grid, I thought the Horton's thing might work.
Can I have a clue for the first an10?
yes molly, you wer on the right track, it was me that was too tired to catch the clue... I got caught up in variations of timm's/timmiestimmey etc
And a good evening to all the babblers.
