anyone here use a nightguard to prevent grinding down your teeth?

I have used one for over 33 years
do you feel like it works well? because i feel like having it in my mouth MAKES me clench my teeth
so then i guess it is helping my teeth but not my jaw
well, you can worry about me for other reasons, I suppose, hursh. :P
The 1st one I had for 30 + years broke in half this year. That one was perfect; made of a plastic that was adjusted for my mouth and jaw; my teeth slid across the plastic. When that broke, my other dentist had died, and the new one is not the same. Feel like you a bit.
Getting headaches again, which I have not had for years and years.
my first one cracked a lot sooner than yours, then i didn't wear one for awhile, then my new dentist made me get one, it seems better than the old one - a thinner material
but i just still instinctively bite down hard on it
i'm sorry you're getting headaches tho
i have migraine prevention meds, but i still usually have to take a couple of sumatriptan per week
I think the thinner, plastic material is much better. The one they made me like that is too tight on my teeth; when I remove it, I feel like it is going to pull out my crowns. I have been using a rubber one that I got over the counter, ... not happy with either.
how do you remove it? because if you try the whole thing straight down it does not work, you have to pull one SIDE off first, then the other
I cannot find a dentist that is as smart or conscientious as the one that died... makes me sad. I have crowns on both sides of my mouth, so which ever side I pull off, feels odd with this new splint.
It is probably okay, but it really feels tight... afraid if I have it adjusted, it will crack, too. I have been wearing the plastic one a bit during the day, and the rubber one at night.
I have so much inflammation in my body, I just need a big splint for my whole body LOL
hmm, well, i hope a better dentist comes along soon
