A 7 for 44...
i found it too
This rotten board... for the last hour, yesterday, I was trying to add the last words... the board was frozen......aaargh. Better luck, today, I hope.
Ooh, an 8 for 55.
And another for 60.
i found a 7 for 56
i like this grid
3 8's....2 for 60 and one for 55
47/963.....going to bed...will try for more with a fresh brain
before i go are there any words with a J????
hey molly, if you see this, i'm back to babbling
100/1272 missing the big ones lol
there is a 4 for 6 that leads to a 6 for 24 which leads to an 8 for 55.
one 8 should be "quite obvious"
a 6 for 27 leads to an 8 for 60.
Yey got them thanks for the clues
there is six for 36. that is a job for keeping people from getting lost
a 7 for 44 means to bring forward.
a seven for 44 means Relationship, especially one of mutual trust or emotional affinity.
a seven for 56 means To befall; betide
Yep got that one thanks..theres me thinking im doing well with 104 words but bet there lots more here I cant see lol
ooooooooh a big fish!!!
Anyone from Ciao here?
Hi there - yep, unoriginally named in both places, Kirsty1! Is mellowmasher your name there?
no manunas22 but dont tell anyone lol
Ha! I think it might have been your fault that I'm here!! Did you write about this place??
No no yet but will do lol but I do have it on my about me not sure if you have visited my home page? Anyway how are you doing today?
Mostly annoyed I've found yet another displacement activity! Should be working :o) How's you?
Yea fine and like you could kick myself for finding this site hate to think how long I would spend if there was a prize at the end lol House work is suffering
It's good to know you are here - I remember you way back when on Ciao - I think I kinda thought you han't been around :o)
Took a break for a short while got a bit bored and got writers block still not around as much but do pop in most days. I too remember you from a while back are you still active?
Lol just got you up and bronze last time I remember I think you were red lol anyway just reading an op of yours
Yep still alive and kicking there :o)
I have a 7 for 44, that doesn't fit either clue. Does anyone know how many words are in this grid. Where's anceps, when I need him??
Nobody has said how many today I have 3x7 and 3x8 but guess there maybe more
I have only one 7, and three 8s. This is one of those days when other peoples' clues don't sink in. I think I'm going back to my book.
On of the 8's contains the 7 if that helps
Yes, that I have, but the three for which Jeff glues... not a great help to me. An early day tomorrow - having a heart monitor attached (eek), so I think I'll leave for now, come back tomorrow afternoon. G'night, y'all.
Hmmm... 'glues' must be a contraction for 'gave clues'...
111/1461 think im done
Good luck Christine
Thank you - I know it's not really as scary as I think it is -- it's only a 24hr. check on my heart rhythms, etc See y'all tomorrow.
35/4.57/435 Not a bad start for me considering I haven't looked at the posts yet and that's the first thing I usually do. Off to work now. TTFN
There are 150 words in this puzzle. Sorry, no breakdowns for you.
That 150 should contain approximately 3x8 and 4x7.
I keep seeing tapeworm ....
lol I keep seeing peanut
It's taproot here that keeps clouding my vision. :-D
I keep seeing peanut too! I have 2 8's and no 7's... any clues?
There are some clues throughout the log for most of them, I think. In alphabetical order they are: 8-60 7-44 8-60 7-44 7-44 8-55 7-56
thanks for the breakdown. i've read the log... not much help I'm afraid. Got the 8 for 55 from Jeff and an 8 for 60 but nothing else seems to figure...
The first 8/60 creates a 6 for 24 if you remove the first two letters. The second 8/60 makes a 7/44 if you remove one letter, then a 5 for 16 if you remove two more. Do you know which 8/60 you have?
my 8 for 60 makes a 6 for 24 and then a 4 for 6 So your first one I guess...
The other 8/60 also makes a 6/27 if you remove the last two letters. You have the one that is "quite obvious" correct? Both the 8/60 you are missing and the 8/55 are past tense forms of verbs. But the base 6-letter words can serve other purposes besides verbs. I'm sure that won't help you find them, but if you're looking through your 6s, it may help you determine if you already have them. Clue for the 8/60 - think thin Clue for the 8/55 - think Clark Kent
OK ! thanks for the clues - Here goes looking! I;ll let you know if I'm successful.
think thin! haha - of course! obvious... now the next... energy's rising again ;)
Ha - and the other one i already have. 3 8's in total yes? Now for the 7's.... hmmm maybe cup of tea first will help
As far as I know, only 3 8s. And 4 7s, one of which you have contained in an 8.
Any nice clues like your last ones on the other 3 7's?
desperately trying to reach 100 words...can't....stop....help........mmmeeeee.....
how many words you got elhombre? I have 66... want more too!
Hints for the 7s are harder for me to come up with, but I'll give it a shot: 7-44 already hinted, and you've found it 7-44 sounds a bit like something you'd use to cook hamburgers outside 7-44 word is originally French. Means relationship, it is something you develop with someone 7-56 starts with a 5 for 22 then add a suffix There aren't many ways, mathematically, to make a 5/22 . . .
112 and 1490 not bad for now
eh jlm mi, guardian angel - here goes looking for the 7's! whats your score now? you deserve to do well!
So far just 104/1422. Lots more to find. But that's OK. If I don't do well on this one, I'll just take it as future karma. ;)
I'll chalk it up for you ;)
117/1541 and 4.69
I have 104/1427. I'll give my starting letters so far if it helps anyone... Ax14 Dx10 Ex1 Mx5 Nx7 Ox4 Px19 Rx17 Tx20 Wx7
French relationship I've found. I don't cook many hamburgers outside... too much rain!
We are very similar, but I have a more in a few areas to help in your search: 14xA 8xD 1xE 5xM 7xN 3xO 20xP 22xR 17xT 8xW
2 "e" s
got the 7 for 56 - now one more 7.... what the hell does one use to cook hamburgers with outside besides a barbeque?
Or along with the bbq . . .
charcoal, tongs, spatula, brush, oil, chicken...
This would be an alternative fuel to yours. But remember, the 7 only sounds like it, is not actually it.
I think the bbq clue is confusing, because it's a misspelling. Instead, think of what Kerry is going to do during the DNC.
wood, petrol, gas, coke, coal, electricity, benzine, methelated spirit, oil....
lol! hehe errrrm , who is kerry and what is DNC. I'm beginning to get the idea that i'm living on a different planet.
Democratic National Convention - going on right now in Boston, USA. I guess you're not from the US? Basically, Kerry is running for president and will be giving a stump speech at the convention, telling us his platform.
aha! I see. No I'm not from the US. I'm from the netherlands. So I'm none the wiser really.
ok im done 121 and 1603 time to call it a day
too bad aeroport is not acceptable
I have Ax16 - one is a Latin plural.
Make that 17.
morning all..just lurking about
wooh am i a thread killer or what???
tarn IS a word!! its a scottisch lake. a collection of water in a combe or hole shape thing formed by a glacier... hmpf
conXshun - will it not take tarn for you? Took it for me. Maybe keep trying. And for everyone who didn't have it already, a freebie!
So what is kerry gonna do for 7 letters? prattle, burble, babble, kiss babies, wave, sing, be stunning.... erm help?
that's strange... it didn't take tarn for me in a last grid either! I'll keep trying, maybe I can catch it off guard at some point.
He's going to *put forth* the platform on which he's running.
now 'put forth' must be a good clue. Maybe its a US word not know in UK? Maybe I'm brain dead
aha! its taken my mountain glacier lake :)) Thanks Jlm mi for having me keep trying!
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary entry it's Scottish. It's definitely not a word I would expect to hear in every day conversation. Though a variation of it, meaning one who supports something (typically an idea or a plan) is fairly common. But, the math tells you that it either must contain: 2 P's, W & D, P&M, or H & D plus a bunch of 1-point letters. It contains 2 P's, but not next to each other.
Updating the letter counts. There are at least this many words starting with each letter: 18xA 10xD 2xE 5xM 7xN 4xO 20xP 23xR 20xT 9xW If you have more and would like to share how many, it would be much appreciated. :)
I've got 6 Ms and 21 Ts. I'm missing some you've got: 2 As, 3 Rs, and 1 W. I have the same number for the other letters. And I seemingly cannot find any more Rs.
i have 1 u word that is a 6 ltr for 21 pts
Thanks nutkin - great find!
is it an un- word???
Yes.
phew! finally, 100 words. i'm going for a few pints now. have a nice night people.
I can't make the math come out - if it's an un word, that's 4 letters worth 19 points, and they just aren't there...
I finally figured it out. Remember to divide by 3 first, when figuring out how many points the individual letters have!!
i have 10xw
120/4.81/1723
i also have 23xa
21xp
Okay, checking in, before I head to the Drs office.... will someone share the start letter for 7/56??
Jli mi, are you still there?
Christine - W ConXshun - I'm here for about another hour, off and on. What's up?
can you tell me if the putting forth of the Kerry man is the same as the french relationship?
No, those are two different words, both for 44 points, and both using 2 Ps to get the points. The French relationship, though, does have the two Ps side by side.
I think I'll stop for the night.I can't tell the diference anymore between words and random letters stuck together. Thanks for all the clues people! babble-on!
thanks jlm mi. you did say so earlier. My brain's gone soggy. time to stop. a mere 89 for 1246 today. till next time.
Well, I'll be.... Thank you jim_mi ... what a very odd word. I thought I'd tried that - not because I thought it was a word, but because I've added prefix or suffix where I can - but it didn't take. The same thing happened with TARN and another that finally didn't take.
is the j used at all? :-)
I have not yet used the J anywhere in a word. It'd be nice though. :)
i have 25 A's
So, how 'bout them 6's? I have 14, in alphabetical order: 30 36 27 24 27 24 27 30 24 18 18 21 30 21 What has anyone else got?
22 6's, but too lazy to put them in order...
I don't have nearly as many as you (10) but my first is an 18, that I expect goes at or near the top of your list, as your first 18 is near the bottom.
...I also have a 21 that I think goes between your first two.
marigold, are you here? how are you doing with this puzzle?
I have 18 6's (18, 30, 21, 36, 27, 24, 27, 30, 18, 24, 27, 30, 24, 18, 18, 21, 30, 21)
it won't take TARN for me either. I've tried several times.
I got the relationship one. But I can't figure out the Kerry.
periwinkle -- it took three tries before it would accept TARN from me. Now, the Kerry thing... think of when your husband asked you to marry him.... nut there isN't an 'S' in this puzzle....<hint, hint>
If you know what Hank Hill sells, change one letter.
who is Hank Hill?
it took tarn. No S, can't make propose. Still stuck..
Christine, I finally paid attention to your clue and got the Kerry word. Never would have figured it out by myself. Actually never heard of the word.Thanks. :)
I only have 6 A words. They are usually hard for me to find.
Where is everyone? I feel like I am talking to myself.
It took tarn when i put it in
9 7 9 7 8 7 7 22 Ws - have I missed any ?
There are at least 10 Ws. I have the same points as you, plus a 56. I am missing one of the smaller ones.
Thanks fnurt - that should help a lot!
i have 20 6s
spappy posted 22 earlier - I think that's all there are.
Jeez, I've only got fifteen. And I keep seeing 'metronome' and it's driving me nuts.
I have 11 W's
Has anyone got any words beginning with WR? Points?
No Wr words and couldn't find all of the 6s not a bad score for me though: 126 / 4.67 / 1622
my cousin's name (jarrod) is one we can cross off our lists. harder to focus today, but found the lovely 8 for 60.
