I got the zo8 on my own.. the other I had to look up
zo 8 was an inspired guess for me, after you gave the stats! Don't have the et 8 yet.
monkeyed the zo
funny way of putting that nan :D

it's really an encaging word :D
Looked up the et 8 - I'd been messing with the French star - so close but not quite!

hi Rose
hey flosey. how was last night? did you lose power?
no, Rose, all was fine, just a flicker
good.
44 to go but too tired tonight, bb in the morning, goodnight all
good morning all
{{hugs}} and good morning dear friend. have had a lovely day. Lan, he vietnamese mother of little Grace was there. Grace remembered me(she is only 10 months old)had to come home a little earlier than expected as Don was feeling very tired.
*hugs rose* Hello my dear friend. Good to hear you had a lovely day. And awww so sweet! Sorry about Don. Still after-effects of the flu?
how are you sweetie? did you have a lovely relaxing day yesterday? and how was your night? xoxox
yup, this bug has depleted all his energy.
Hi all.
I didn't do squat yesterday. today will be worse... but tomorrow things will start going better
*hugs medusa* Hello dear one!
How are you Sprite?
poor Don :( He needs to take his time recuperating... eating well, resting a lot, exercise a little.
sort of ok, medusa. Too many worries and too much pain atm, but working on it. How are you?
Not too bad. Have had some bad days with my hips but life goes on eh? Been treating myself to lots of yarn and fabrics the last couple of weeks. My birthday is coming up so thought I would top up on the hobby things. lol
oh smart! It is so lovely to be crafting, isn't it... especially when the weather turns colder and it gets darker.
I love my needle crafts. They got me off anti depressants. I really don't need any more yarn but can't resist a barfgain! lol
*giggles* I hear ya!
our rose is chasing squirrels again...
I have so much yarn here you would not believe! Thing is it is all bits and not much I can use for me. Have treated myself to some thicker stuff too.
Sweet! Caught any yet Rose?
lovely. You will have so many lovely hours using them :)
I will. The boys curl up next to me and we all snuggle while I work on the yarn. Am making them sweaters now the weather is changing. George is a sod for having them put on him but hoping he wont mind this one. Coz of his breed he really needs them! I am also fostering a little dog so going to make one for him too.
:D
I have the laptop on and watch a movie while I work too.
I always watch movies or series while knitting or crocheting.
Me too. Helps the time pass when you are working something plain that bores you. lol
yeah. It is a very nice combination, food for the mind while watching and food for the whatever that becomes satisfied when you craft.
And when you finish something it is a major ego boost with the feeling of accomplishing something
true! I am into crocheting atm, all kinds of dolls and stuffed animals and blankets. They make for perfect gifts too.
okay back. yeah a squirrel in the shape of a sinkful of dirty dishes soaking, which i put in 2 hours ago.
They do! I was working on gifts for my friend and her family but left all the important sewing bits at hers when I was there last!
roflol I knew it! Bad rose, running away from us like that, without a word. Welcome back!
now have a sinkful of clean dishes. and benches etc all wiped down..
lol. Rose.
good excuse to go visit again soon, medusa
It is. I will be going in a couple of weeks.
lovely to see you can leave putting them away till later, rose.
don is watching the sequel to 'he girl with the dragon tattoo'. to his horror and mine there was a flashback featuring her rape scene.
Was driving me nuts not knowing where it was. Could have sworn I broght it all home! At least I know it is safe and I did not leave it on the train or something!
ugh that is horrible. Brilliant books, btw. Have not seen the movies though.
Oh, love that trillogy! Only seen the Swedish original though. I have that on dvd.
senior moments, medusa :D
i finally worked out why i feel so sick when i see that scene. it's because he gets such physical pleasure from the rape, but she doesn't have any physical enjoyment from her revenge.
Her revenge is so funny though.
very true, rose. It is truly horrible. But the way she finally brings him to justice is beautiful.
I prefer blonde moments or my Irish part showing it's face. lol
I do love Salander's attitude. She is just great. It is just a shame the author did not get to see how great the series made it.
medusa, watch this one: https://goo.gl/mTYejQ
Salander is beautiful. And it is rewarding that in the end she wins all.
yeah she does have a great attitude. and her revenge is good.
He knows about brain farts! I say that all the time!
that song always makes me laugh. Especially the last two parts... about the doctor and the pills
back to Lan and the kids. they have all three been overseas visiting Lan's mum and aunty for 8 weeks. which makes Grace remembering me very special.
wow rose, you made quite an impression on the lil' one
lol
Nice Rose. Visiting is always good.
so sweet, rose
i hear you medua. but i missed them so much. and the 3 year-old has come back, screaming his head off in tantrums. i have spoken to both parents and they are very willing to have my help in breaking him of THAT habit.
ugh indeed. They can use some support in never ever giving in to tantrums
Not so good then. We always miss loved ones when we are not with them. xx
i figure a few time outs with grammyrose will help him along the way to stopping the tantrums. poor Dad even said do what you have to, smack him even. but i don't smack for tantrums. that is attention in another way. and i am going to deprive him of an audience to stop him.
that is exactly it, rose. No attention at all. And as soon as they quiet down, even if only for a few seconds, reward with kind attention.
annies are great for that. Always stronger than the parents most of the time.
perhaps because we have been through it all before. as i said to Lan, i have had four brothers, three sons, a father and two husbands. he is not going to win..
My nan always used to say she's tamed lions and they are just cubs. lol
I have literally stepped over Tim when he had a tantrum in the middle of the grocery store... for not being allowed a treat. I continued shopping, even though most people were looking at me so mad... and in the end he got up from the floor and walked back to me, all calmed down. That was when I gave him attention.
I am really not doing well today on this grid!
so very true, both of you :)
lolll, yay you sprite. little monkey!!
it is a doozy, medusa. Almost every tile has a weird word.
I had a friend who had a tantrum with the little girl and it shocked the girl into stoppig. lol
Think I am just too tired to think. lol
Think I am just too tired to think. lol
that ruddy in7 had me going for ages.
yeah well, kids will try. That is in their nature. And when given clear boundaries, they will adapt and feel safe. Worst you can do is give in. It sets them floundering.
Not even got there yet!
but not too tired to double post.... loll
Tried the zo but just can't get it.
and that darn et8... and many smaller words
Laptop double posted! lol
zo8. animal park + not earlier

What are the stats, what in the world could they be, for the Zs, please?
Zl.5/20

Sorry, 65...need more coffee
And Matty, that other one is a ZL not a ZI lest you get confused
Capital I and lower case l look exactly the same here to me.

May I have a wee nudge on the zo? I'm guessing it's something to do with a place for captive animals (or the animals themselves)?
nm, found it
The tardies monkeys helped me out, I think ;)
So much for my cute clue...we'll go to the park now and the zo8 : D
LOVE that clue ;)
For nbt/nbs, may I please have stats for the A and the O in the bottom row?
Az.5/20
Still looking for the bottom O.
Oo & text speak fot opposite of heavy....oo 6/18
nbt/nbs. Tough grid this, I think
And hi everybody :-)
Good morning all
Ooduuuude
Damn it
:D
Can I have stats for the i (eye) in the upper left? I have the in4/4 (the hotel) - anyone have stats for the other two?
In 6 and in 7 not related
Ru is channeling Jeff Spicoli
Who's Jeff Spicoli?
Sean Penn's character in Fast Times At Ridgemont High. A dope smokin' surfer boy who said "duuude" a lot.
Oh god - I saw that movie way back when. I'd forgotten him (and, indeed, the film)
In college, we used to refer to anyone who smoked a lot of dope as "Spicoli". Except for this one rugby player who earned the nickname NTH - Never Too High.
Here's a word we need to appear in the grid: oophorectomies
I can't see that in7..?
both in6 and 7 impossible
? I found the in6...and it doesn't mean impossible?
to fathom!!!
Not seeing the third letter?
Aaah :) The in6 means natural - inborn, instinctive, that kind of thing. It's the same third letter as the in4
Matty - thks - have you spotted the 7?
Found the 7. Sort of to trap, but with IN in front

ty Glantarell
yw
speaking of sunshine. hope the sun comes out today. very gray and rainy at the moment
sunshine and fluffy clouds here, been dry all week - amazing for Wales.
greetings from cold and snowy alberta
Hi Welki
greetings from grey, chilly France
Hope we don't get snow this winter. I live on a short steep hill, and my workplace is at the top of a long steep hill. My little MX5 doesn't like snowy hills.
We had almost nosnow last year and no hard frost, very different fromwhen I moved herein '97
nice car, glan - you probably don't have enough terrible weather to justify winter tires
any clues for the 8s? ty
Definitely no justification for winter tyres here. Mind you, tyre companies started pushing them a couple of years ago.
et8 to bleach
zo8/65 no idea what that means
ty. will try to find it. ty
et + 2 vowels + not early
i swear by them, since they remain effective in very, very cold temperatures, but they're expensive (especially if you put them on rims)
I don't miss the snow, but a hard frost is needed
agreed, Ruby
ty new word for me.
got the et 8
and other one please.
placer where you keep animals and not earlier
what does it start with please giantarell. ty
Does anybody have an opinion about a dog who insists on sleeping outdoors?
Welki, the trouble is that tyre rubber perishes after 5 years and there just isn't enough snow here to make it worthwhile spending $50-$60 fitting costs to put tyres on and then take them off again, even if the tyres were not so expenmsive
i dont see barn in grid so please i need first two letters for other 8 word. ty
zo8
Dogs have fur. It keeps them warm. If the dog wants to sleep outdoors, why not let it?
let the dog sleep outdoors. why is that an issue?
She's very fluffy and independent like a cat
ty. got second 8 letter word. ty very much
yw
because I feel bad and have to leave the back door open
in case she changes her mind
Is there a shed you could leave open instead Ruby?
i agree with you, glant - if the roads here weren't so terrible, i'd stick with all-seasons. but we can have snow/ice on the roads for about 6 months of the year. i put my winter tires on in october and take them off in april/may, depending on weather.
i would let her stay out for the night. she wont die.
I could leave the garage open, but it's not warmer
If I lived in Alberta, I think I'd do the same, Welki. Or not drive at all LOL
put a blanket or some soft thing by the door so if she charges her mind she can sleep on that. in the morning you open the door.
at least you don't have to worry about predator animals, ruby - dogs outside here fall prey to coyotes
Thank you
No coyotes here LOL but there is a badger that kills cats
any clues for the o word bottom row o? ty
it takes a certain amount of intestinal fortitude to drive on these roads in the winter. on bad days, it can be a white-knuckle experience
I've done a little white knuckle snow driving, I didn't like it one bit. And in my case, on a 34 mile commute in the dark, driving through a mountain pass 8 miles from the nearest town, I was more afraid of freezing to death if I went off the road and no-one noticed.... Not fun.
i lived up a huge hill in conn. as a kid. the city put a huge barrel of sand on the hill so if you got stuck you could get yourself out. there was even a shovel in the barrel which was on it side. we often had to use the sand. and my dad kept sand bags in the trunk all the time with a shovel. now here in maryland, because the weather is warmer, the snow m elts and freezes and so we deal with ice a lot and we use sand also. i dont like using the salt at all.
(our transit system is great for those who live in the inner city, but not for folks like me who live in the 'burbs - or i'd be so glad to hop on a bus on cruddy days)
it is best to drive a stick shift in snow.
hello friends. I am digging this conversation - born and raised boston girl....I LEARNED to drive in snow!
any clues for the A or O bottom row????????
az5/20
trifioso, i also learned to drive in the snow. and now i am one of the few who venture out in it.
don't have the O yet
az5/20
driving in the snow does not phase me in the least. but I totally understand why people don't like it
hey, trif - one of my kids moved to vermont and they learned the benefits of good winter tires first go-round - they had snow where they were from, but not on such a constant basis
ty. trying to find az5. is it two or one vowel after the z?
one
When I lived in upstate NY I used to drive in snow to go skiing. I was Young and brave!
sort of a biology ending
one vowel
yep - snow is easy, it's the ice (and the black ice) that makes the trip 'interesting'
ty
I was never keen on the snow that had partially melted then frozen over. Slippy stuff.
in maryland our snow is mostly melted during day and ice over at night.
any clue for that bottom o?
yuk
that wasn't a clue LOL
haha
oo + not heavy
ty welki
ty for bottom o. great clue.
thanks
still dont have az 5. further clues welcome.
if you just went straight along the bottom of the grid it would be very similar
ok: i am missing 3 letters for the az 5. is it vowel, cons, vowel or vowel con, con? ty
the ending sounds like a grain crop often fed to horses
az + vowel + cons + vowel
hi dose
ty got it.

sounds interesting dose
... internet could be down ... my phone goes out when it simply rains ... if you put that much water on the ground I expect that service would be iffy at best until it dries out

Last Thanksgiving hubby and I ate rotisserie chicken

not allowed?
I could eat rotisserie chicken everyday! Can I eat at that restaurant?
I'm thinking of that too. We leave for a cruise on the 28th

Glant, i had lost your chicken recipe. just recopied it. Saw a similar one by Ellie Krieger yesterday, with brussels sprouts potatoes and lemon garlic seasoning.
spelt both ways :-)
all one dish in the oven
sounds lovely apart form the sprouts. Not sure about roasted sprouts, prefer them raw and very thinly sliced
I only had them once where I liked them, prepared at hotel in Jamaica. Would you like the recipe?

i have a question - i was watching a video in which a woman from Wales said she worked in K homes. Could you tell me what they are, please?
I have no idea, have never heard of K homes. What was the context?
care homes?
just that her work was to sing in them
i thought the same, did a search, couldn't find anything, so figured i'd ask you - thanks :)
I think it would have been care homes - homes for the elderly, residential, probably the accent made care homes sound like K homes
makes perfect sense - thanks again
to 5/10, the first one, pls
I know care homes often have musician visits, people who don't show any interest in activities and visitors often start moving to music, and get involved
