I have a crochet blanket on the sofa they have dug holes in and they like to lay underit. There is a huge hole they can get through but some they can only get their heads through. Those are the ones they try to get through!!!!!!!!!

The problem with everyone (this isn't a dig at you, Ruby) saying Clinton has a 'strident' voice is that it's a claim levelled almost entirely at women. Our voices (well, not mine so much - I've been mistaken for my partner on the phone - I have a smokers growl) are higher and we're taught to be apologetic and to defer - hence the habit of many women to speak as if every statement is a question. Often, when a woman raises her voice or is passionate, she sounds, to ears accustomed to men in powerful positions, shrill.
same with CNN; they constantly advertise themselves -- very annoying!

If she spoke in a softer voice, everybody would lean in. And lots of people don't want women in high positions.
As for me, I think she's terrific!
Mind you, it's not only men who are (consciously or unconsciously) unwilling to accept a woman in power. We women are raised in the same society and so women can be (often unconsciously, though not always) as prejudiced as much as men are against women in positions of authority.
I had the interesting position of being the only woman doing my particular job and though I had to be tough, I used it to my advantage.
I personally can not see what the problem is with having women in a position of authority.

I removed the bone from a turkey thigh, stuffed it and tied it in a roll and cooked in the oven -- stayed nice and moist, just like a whole bird.
It was the first time I'd tried that -- (first year we didn't have a table full of kids)

when i searched for the error message, there were LOTS of references to it - but you have warranty left, so let the manufacturer fix it for you (for free)

Acer. The page has loaded now, Rolling back to an earlier windows build sounds like a good option.
(maybe i'm wrong in assuming that the repair/fix would be covered under warranty, since it's an operating system problem)

The computer engineer who looked at the previous laptop that started doing this after an 'upgrade' told me the hard drive was corrupt. That one was 18 months odl, a HP. I changed it because I had never liked it much, and that was the final straw.
"igdkmd64.sys" is the Intel graphics driver, so it could be some kind of a GPU conflict.

But then I have wireless hi-fi speakers on my laptop as I listen to a lot of music and so it seemed loud it might not if you use the computer speakers :-)

I never thought of YouTube. It looks like it's possible that the sound card driver may need updating following the windows update.
I used to do all sorts of stuff with computers until about Windows 7, when it all got harder...
I thought it might be that as mine needed updating after the windows 10 anniversary update. all is fine again now though.
It can also be the graphics card that can need updating too.

this happened to my husband, glan - what he did was bought a hard drive for the laptop and a program to create a "ghost image," - it copies the entire hard drive over to the new one. but that was not on a brand new laptop, it was a couple of years old.
i'm hoping that your new laptop doesn't have a 'corrupt' hard drive, too - there's enough corruption going around these days :)

i have both, glan, and prefer my mac. only a little bit different than windows (better now than it used to be), but they're expensive. on the flip side, the first macbook i purchased in 2008 is still going strong (i use it as a back-up)
I am sure I would adjust to using it. I just balk at paying twice the price. But if it lasts twice as long and is more reliable, I may well go down that route next.

you can configure your future mac to keep the cost down by eliminating what you don't need on it - you don't have to buy one 'off the rack'
My first one was the second generation, it got stolen and the insurance company replaced it with a slightly smaller thinner one, which I don't like quite so much LOL even though it is higher spec. Last eyar's model.
