Hello, Sprite :-)
*Puts out coffee, tea and Christmas cookies
Ooh I do love cookies!
I love holiday cookies, People seem to save all their special recipes for this time of year.
I had two billioniare muffins yesterday...they were delishous!
delicious*
They had butterscoth sauch i the middle YUM!
I had to look those up. They sound decadent.
They are normally £2.50 for two but I got them for 80p as they were on there last date of sale. Being a cheap skate that I am..I went for them lol
Their*
Only you Brits could come up with a sweet muffin with the additional shortbread on top. : D
I went to the pst office yesterday and handed an envelope with a Christmas/Birthday card in it and told them they sent it to the wrong house. It should be delivered a further 513 miles north of where I live . They were gob smacked that it arrived at my house lol
There are variations of it, Molly. I had the one with a big blob of belgian chocolate on the top :-)
Nice of you to try and get the cards to the people they were intended for.
Good morning all.

aww so sorry mixi I had heard that they wont allow people to get them as a gift?
a shelter here has a "home for the holidays" special - yours might too. ours is $15 for any pet over 6 months.
lol ruru
oh that is so cool hurshy
And the Official Phantom of the Day is: Retribution
wow Samantha that's a good one
that is a close one samantha
Thank yew, thank yew verra much
name that florida politician!
if anything should be banned as a gift, it should be the drones that I see piled in stores everywhere. I think people should have to register and be licensed to use them
hey mubner is in the grid today.. it's his grid
cyber I just don't understand why those were made and are being sold to the public.. isn't that an invasion of privacy?
<--needs to study up on florida politicians apparently
bush was the only one I could think of, but he's not in the grid.
famously drank a lot of water while giving a TV presentation
Is he from Florida? I tried to avoid learning anything about him.
lol
marco rubio
ding ding ding!
I could only think of Bush too
that's not the biggest issue as far as I'm concerned...it's the idiots that fly them into airways. We had a forest fire burning out of control near homes this year and the firefighters had to pull water bomber support because some idiot was sending is drone in the way and the planes had to be grounded for safety. There have also been some near misses both in Canada and the US near airports because of them.
i think some states have banned them
or banned certain uses of them
scary isn't it?
like over x feet high or over other people's property
it's kind of funny that the "smart" bush is named Jeb
the problem is, hurshy, without any id on the drones or the owners how do you police it?
you mean bc of beverly hillbillies?
yep
ah - just found an 8 -- can list now :D
i think they have gotten some people in trouble because like only one guy in town had a drone or whatever. i suppose it would get harder as popularity grows. but, i mean, we have VIN #s and registration for cars, and licenses, so, i guess we would just have to set that up for drones. probably just tack it on to DMV i guess
phantom: info
name that proper noun! male name, or sandwich
ruben
sandwich
(covering for nan)
close...
reuben
ding ding ding!
(just trying to be helpful)
that reuben just went right pastrami
lived in a jewish neighbourhood once, so knew of the sandwich, but has they would never have anything to do with us, we didn't have much opportunity to learn anything about the jewish culture.
I was married to a Jewish woman for 30 years and never learned much about the culture
*hits the restart button on the chat*
don't think there was anything we could add to that, ru!
most of my Hebrew friends and family don't really observe the Jewish customs any longer
we bought a house in a new development, then a synagogue was built a block away and the neighbourhood became a jewish ghetto. No one would talk to us other than in passing and their children would play with ours, but never invite them into their homes. I was really glad when my husband was transferred and we moved out of there.
hmm.. that has never been my experience
They are usually the warmest and most generous people I've ever met
it was an orthodox group, so maybe that makes a difference. The only jewish woman on the street that would socialize with me had converted to her husband's faith and they were reform. Also her father, who visited often, was from Glasgow and I was the only person around other than family that could understand what he was saying.
oh yeah.. orthodox would make a big difference I'd bet.
I have to get to work soon.. still have emergency deliveries to make
people forget to pick up wine for Christmas dinner? or don't have any stored in their house?
hah.. no.. just some restaurants that forgot to reorder and are screwed unless I save them
There must be something wrong with us -- we head to the winery whenever our cellar gets below 2 dozen bottles!
you must be cork dorks cyber :D
yeah
comes from living in an area with over 100 estate wineries
got to run.. have a great xmas nan
hagd ru
you too
hi all. help with either 8 pls
have to go and run some errands before the parking lots fill up -- bbl
fw and of for breakfast, bb tonight
me too peri
The te8 is weird. It's a plural of te7/44, and it ends like boredom or repetition
hey, peri....played with someone who registered as Team Babble: Thanar yesterday....no idea who that was....
the te7 ends like a word for* boredom
I am lost on that te word
te + consonant + throw the ***s out, but put an extra vowel in the middle of that word
than pl for 8
throw the what out?
That still doesn't make it easy but it limits your options a little. :)
Agh. You don't know that phrase. OK, try word for "hobo" or "beggar" instead
for that phrase I thought of dog
it's a short 3 letter word, mlf.....another use "Can I *** a cigarette off you?"....
but i still haven't figured out the te word....lol....
Let me try again: te + consonant + prefix for two + a two letter speech filler that we use when we're thinking or confused.
pen yes that is the part I figured out and don't know the first part
ty sam....
ty sam
Now see if you can come up with better clues, because I'm hurting over here. LMAO
gotta go.....be back later...
bye pen
Samantha?
Yeah?
do you have the corner a?
Metaphorically hurting.
Yeah, sure, some people read au4, then the latin plural of that
MLF....just go with that holy haze that surrounds a person....
really leaving now, lol....
didn't have that au 4 ty pen
the au 6 is a hair color
ty samantha
and the an 6 from that corner is another weird one: an + vowel + I *** a marathon
I finally have nbt
greyed that a ty
There are just lots of weird words in today's puzzle. At least it's not huge.

yw :-)
bo 7/40, pls
Samantha, there are elders here who have no idea about rock music/Prince clues. I got your clue. I love that song.
That would be me.
That song is thirty years old though!
And here's the thing: When "Party Like It's 1999" was released three years *before* that song, it become the most requested song in nursing homes that year. I am not kidding you.
Bichon, I'm so glad you resized your icon photograph. That is a GREAT picture.
Which is why I expected everyone to get it.
I did? Can't see it here
Yes Samantha, however the common denominator generation here is over 65 and grew up listening to other music or playing (shudder) classical stuff.
Yes, I did. Yeah me
That would be me Molly. Always listen to classical music dure the day.
Your grandkids must love that picture.
Well, consider looking that song up if you can, because it's a good one. :D
My grand kids were just here and they loved it.
bo 7/40, pls
don't have it
ty any way
bo7 start with the first 4 of the whiskey drink, end with the first 3 of a peanut butter cup brand
ty Molly
Aaah - of course, we could have used a classical music clue for that, as it's a classical form (often called, for children's music, a round)
The bo8 starts the same and ends with the green outdoor growths with bark
Jethro Tull also did a version of Bach's on an early album
*Bets Matty fascinates people at cocktail parties
I'm often too busy drinking the cocktails :)
That is a good thing. People at cocktail parties are all about discussing riveting things like "the weather" and "where do you work". : P
Heh - well, in that case - thanks for the compliment. Should you find yourself in the UK, I shall gladly have you round for cocktails (would a G&T work? I get good gin, and good tonic)
Greetings
Greetings Christa ... haven't seen you in a while!
ty Molly

Clues for the te 8 and the bo 8, please.
te7 = te + kentucky d***y + vowel + latin ending. plural for the 8
bo 8 starts like a whisky, ends like a forest unit
thanks for that one dan
yw
Thanks, dan! Great clues.
er6/7 like the te7/8 also
Hey, Dan, question. When a word isn't even in the dictionary, how do you ever come up with it? (At least in no dictionary I can find!)
*thinking about the te and er words...*
Dan, still have trouble with the te 7 and its plural. Can't get there. Driving me nuts!
got them!
poor richard, the ending of the 7 (the end of the er 6) is like the place I keep my lizard and his plants, a terrar***
Aha! Got it! Thanks, stidmama!
:-) glad to be able to help, that was a strange combo for my eyes
Indeed! It would help if I had taken chemistry!
down to 61, taking a break. good luck! *poof*
down to 133 here, but just started :)
76 to go
go moolingwa go!
evening all :)
((((jes))))
happy holidaying, stid!
hey, jess -- critter (native -rescued- alligator lizard) is having a rough shed. How much should I worry? I have soaked him twice (yesterday and today) and today I also re-hydrated the coco peat substrate... and first Grant and now Tom have been sick, so I have been playing nurse all week!
How about you, jes?
Also, I only just saw him stick out his tongue at me the last couple of days.. It was teeny-tiny! I wasn't sure they had a tongue like a snake, but it is!
(oh oh, scared jes off!) *puts choclits on table and hides...*
I don't know enough about that type of lizard to off-hand husbandry specifics, but humidity (which you're already addressing), previous injuries/scar tissue pinning the old skin down, improper diet, and low temperature are the most common causes. Thyroid disease and mites can mess up shed but usually in a making them shed too much direction instead.
not scared, just distracted. Gave spouse his present (a cook book) tonight and he keeps pointing things out in it :)
okay, thanks! I am doing the right things for now then. If it persists, I will look up a herps expert for more advice. He's pretty -- little black and olive green stripes running vertically along his back.
ooooh. more cooking treats! :-D
possibly :) It's an alton brown book, so if nothing else it'll be fun
OMG his new one??? I gave that to Tom a few weeks ago! It's amazing!
LOL I think it's funny how alike we are...
heh :) good to know it comes with good reviews! I bought in on pre-order ages ago, banking on Bruce forgetting about it by now.
His memory is atrocious, so that was an easy bet.
I couldn't wait -- as soon as it arrived, it was in my Tom's hands... LOL
down to 57, I think I will list.
brb
hah. so impatient
LOL yes, well at my advanced age, best not to wait. One never knows!
your advanced age? nonsense!
Well, it's advanced enough that I can say with no exaggeration or irony to my students, "Don't worry if you can't work as fast or get the same results as I do... I have been practicing [fill in skill] for over 40 years!"
When I switch sometimes and use my left hand for writing, they get to see the difference between using a hand for about 8 years for a task and 45+!
FINISHED!!! VERY EXCELLENT!!
that is a pretty significant difference in practice :)
yay godthaab!!!!!!!
yay!!
Indeed! I love pointing out how we cannot already know everything, but we CAN discover new things every day. :-)
ru 6? either of them?
I have an re 6 :)
i have several RE 6... LOL but need a whole host more!
ru6 = don't walk in
oh! I got the RU 6/30...
it's erase!
don't walk in... *thinking*
don't walk, in
sorry, don't walk, not in
same word you go, just a crappy clue
oh! :-D yes! thanks jes. down to 49 now.
now for the RE words...
sorry it wasn't actually helpful
It was though -- the two ru 6 end with the same three-letter word, and differ only in their third letter. :-D
oh, hey, there's a second word, thanks :)
i should probably consider sleep at some point
probably -- you on call this week? Tom is, and over the weekend.
i am not on call this weekend, which is nice, but after this weekend i am on call straight through to the end of february.
except one night the end of january
yuck too much
indeed. but i am stuck - i desperately need more doctors and can't find any.
I am sorry to hear that, jes - we have a similar situation with teachers and substitutes... there have been a few days this year I have not taken sick leave because I know there wouldn't be a sub for me.
i don't have the option to be sick, basically. At least not in January or February - I am the only doctor at the clinic in January, and in February I will only have 2 days/week with another doctor.
wow...
So I should avoid visiting you while this virus is in our household... LOL
heh. unless you're bringing me another doctor, i don't know that I'd be any fun for visiting anyway :P
hmph -- that's okay... I wish I knew someone. :-(
I might just fall asleep while talking to you.
me too -- didn't sleep well the last couple nights. Pretty tired. only down to 44, won't likely finish tonight no matter what
i haven't even dragged it to half way
It has some "obvious" words, but a lot are not easily spotted.
and my brain is dying. I think i am going to pass out soon
you should take a lovely shower and get warmed up and go to sleep... *stern mama look* catch the grid tomorrow instead.
I should, too... will wait for this episode of NOVA to finish first.
no babble tomorrow - breakfast with my fam and dinner with bruce's
nice! :-)
yeah... a lot of driving. they each live about 30 miles away from us, in opposite directions.
and it's snowing again.
we're likely going to miss dessert at Mother's -- with Tom being sick we don't want to take it to their house. But it's important to not share too much!
How's the snow out your way? There was a little bit here today, but it melted by midafternoon. and the roads were mostly clear.
*pictures everybody wearing gas masks and sitting around playing cards*
we got 6 inches several days ago, 1/2 inch the next night, then about an inch last night and it's snowing again tonight.
hm... 4WD I am guessing, and studs? That's not horrible for your part of the world.
stuck on re 7/28
no, not too bad. but depending on how much it snows tonight, we may beat the plows out to my folks'... they're usually the last place to get plowed because they're at end of line for 2 different towns.
go back into?
that's how our road is.
yep. that was the one...
:-) an even 40 now!
the re6/27 plz
rebut
to put two animals again to make babies
oh damn

ty stid
LOL glad to help movieman! I miss seeing you!
hey doren!!!!
okay kiddies. i'm'a go collapse in bed now. happy holidaying all!
sweet dreams and happy celebrating tomorrow, jes -- drive safe!
hello all - another 150/180 grid would be nice
