Marianne, I can't believe you---- you've either taken smart pills, or you've been and gone and got smarter, on me... what the heck is going on??

12:10 am

interest is so almost there...

12:11 am

and after two really good ones - a stinker!

12:22 am

2 whole 6's.

12:24 am

7 for 40.

12:27 am

And "tent" makes a comeback...

12:45 am

6-6's: c, d, o, s(2), t; h-7 45/572...'night

1:26 am

Why doesn't STENT make it? It's in the dictionary.... yet so often words without a definition get in..... ah me.

2:10 am

Morning Christine are you still there?

2:14 am

Ive just looked at some word lists from yesterday - I cant BELIEVE how many easy ones I missed (groan and beats self over head with a soggy nappy)

3:10 am

Marianne - curtseying to you...you rock!! Last grid was great, but this one??? Have only about 30 words. What waws yesterday's word that was a detergent?

3:20 am

It still doesn't like HENCH - what's a poor henchman to say to his family?

4:02 am

52 words 4.67 653 Anyone know how many there are to be found altogether? I have two 7s, one for 40 and one for 28 and six 6s as listed below in the log. Any more??

4:23 am

there's about 85 words in this puzzle

4:54 am

68, can't see any more!

5:09 am

Kukana - will you share the starting letter for the 7/28??

6:11 am

It's A

6:11 am

An American sort of word!

6:18 am

uh oh American words ...

6:51 am

ah! got it :)

7:13 am

65/708 Ax7 Cx6 Dx2 Ex3 Fx7 Hx11 Ix2 Jx1 Nx4 Ox1 Rx7 Sx9 Tx5

7:14 am

74 words 4.72 1001

7:36 am

Wow lawyer, you must have a lot more big words than me. I have 2x7 and 6x6.

7:39 am

There's an Fx7 for 68.

7:43 am

Wow, that one was easy to figure from the point total. Up to 68/840 now...

7:44 am

Oh, thankyou! And a related 6 for 48. Now I have 74 words too, but only 956 total so I must be missing some other longish ones. I have three 7s now, and eight 6s.

7:47 am

My 6's are 33, 36, 48, 18, 27, 33, 33. What am I missing?

7:52 am

There's another 33 in between the 48 and the 18

7:53 am

76 now, here's my breakdown: a - 8 c - 6 d - 2 e - 3 f - 9 h - 15 i - 2 j - 2 n - 4 o - 1 r - 7 s - 9 t - 8

7:55 am

That 6 jumped right out at me. It's funny how easy they are to find sometimes once you know they're there.

7:56 am

I have Sx10.

8:00 am

77 now (I realised one of my ts could be pluralised) but I still haven't got to 1000 in total!

8:13 am

Wooo, 80 words 1017

8:16 am

There's another word that keeps showing up in most of the grids. It's a 5 for 14 C word.

9:15 am

Does anyone know the laundry detergent word from yesterday?

9:19 am

Never mind. I looked at yesterday's puzzle to find it out. :o)

10:43 am

Boo, I can't access the word lists (I use a browser, not a computer), and that word is driving me crazy. Another thing driving me crazy is that bloomin' 6/33, tucked between the 48 and the 18.... aaargh.

11:02 am

think hiho should be acceptable as in Hiho Hiho off to work we go

11:04 am

yes. bloomin' 6/33. but i found 7 c words.

11:11 am

The nine letter N from yesterday is nearshore - certainly a new word for me. And I can't find that 6 for 33 either.

11:21 am

I think I had NEARSHORE, yesterday?? but I've never heard of a detergent named that - it's not in teh Los Angeles area, I'd guess.

11:22 am

hah, found it-- it's an H, if that helps...

11:22 am

Not on the East Coast either, Christine.

11:25 am

Thart 6/33 seems to be between Fand O, but that doesn't seem to help me too much.

11:27 am

The tiles need to add up to 11, that means we must use the H and the C and four singles....

11:27 am

think sheep Christine

11:29 am

How do you figure out the words from points? I can't figure out the F7 or A7 based on the points.

11:29 am

and don't think C.

11:31 am

Eureka!!! Thanks!

11:33 am

From the list on the right, you can see how many points the tiles add to... for a seven lette word, divide by 4.... Now, a sheepish word - meadows or sleep, hmmm.

11:33 am

ok Im stuck on 74 and 944

11:36 am

jayferg--taking a 6/33 for example, you divide by 3 coz it's a 6-letter word, leaving 11 points' worth of letters. So some of the letters are going to be worth one, but others have to give you the extra six points. It can help you know where to look.

11:36 am

sorry, copies Christine--mine doesn't refresh so often.

11:37 am

Don't look at me, I'm blushing... I didn't even consider those letters...another senior moment.

11:42 am

Thanks, eveyone, for the clues... gotta run away, now; back soon

11:48 am

Thanks. Got them both.

12:59 pm

Kukana said there were two 7's-- a 28 and a 40. Can anyone give me a clue on the 40?

1:05 pm

The 7 for 40 - think about people who lift stuff. I'm still working on the 7 for 28. There's also a 7 for 68.

1:06 pm

duh, lifting, got it. i have the 68. thanks!

1:14 pm

argh! I cannot find the A7. Help? please?

1:30 pm

Think of being unable to sit still for the A7

1:36 pm

doh! thank you - I've got it now. ConXshun says there's 85 words, but I can only find 84. And I'm giving up. Here's my stats: 84 words/ 1070 points Ax8 Cx6 Dx2 Ex3 Fx10 Hx17 Ix2 Jx2 Nx5 Ox1 Rx7 Sx12 Tx8

1:39 pm

You are missing a C Daisy.

1:48 pm

Anyone have a clue for the first 6x33?

2:01 pm

That first 6 is a plural of a 5 for 20. It's apparently something to do with meat. (or do what I did and try a possible letter on a 4 for 9, and then make it plural!) I'm puzzled by the 10 Fs. I have 9 of them. One fr-, three fat-, five fan-. I can't see any other possible starting combinations, and I've tried those ones in a2zwordfinder thinking I was missing one, but can't see anything I hadn't thought of. Clues??

2:14 pm

Kukana: At this point, I have only 53 words, but can offer the following hint. The missing F is not among the F's beginnings that you listed. Think Scandanavian! (anything more specific would be a giveaway).

2:17 pm

That should have read Scandinavian...

2:18 pm

OHHHHH! Of course, thankyou! I see it immediately when I think that way! Still missing an S and an H but giving up for tonight (and probably won't log on before it ends tomorrow so I'm finishing with 83)

2:18 pm

thanks for the F clue....i got it.

2:30 pm

i am at 83 words, but I have a c and a t that Daisy didn't have. So there are at least 86 total.

2:45 pm

Parsec...u r assuming Daisy can add. Based on the statistics she posted, the total was 83, not 84. If you add your c & t words, that makes 85.

2:47 pm

I have 7xA 7xC 2xD 3xE 10xF 17xH 2xI 2xJ 4xN 1xO 7xR 11xS 9xT which is 82 words for 1052 points. According to stats posted throughout the log, I'm missing 2xA, 1xN and 1xS, so 4 words, which will make 86 if I can find them all.

2:49 pm

Hmmm - Now I can't find anywhere where anyone posted having 9xA, so maybe I'm only missing 1xA for 85 words total. Hmmm . . .

2:51 pm

good point, i never checked the total. no wonder i was having trouble finding the other of hers i was missing!

2:52 pm

i only have 8 a. I think lawyer's right, there are just 85.

Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing 'rhino' every time I open the puzzle.

2:59 pm

you're not the only one :-)

3:01 pm

you are not. Also, I hate the letter h.

3:02 pm

I keep seeing 'stretch' ;-P

3:03 pm

I gotta stop reading the posts. I hadn't seen stretch until you said it, now it's the first (and only) thing I see. ARGH ;-)

3:05 pm

I have 10 he, 4 hi, and 2 ho -- can someone spare a clue about the one I'm missing?

3:06 pm

You are missing an HO. It is an archaic form meaning the same as your 5 letter HO.

3:07 pm

Now can you help me with A words? ;) I'm missing a 5-letter A word. I have one that is a very common word for 16 points, and another that is a plural for 10 points.

3:08 pm

Lawyer-1 is right - I can't add. According to my husband, that's why I went to law school, not med school. I have 7 Cs.

3:09 pm

the third is an odd one I found by entering random letters that sounded like words... but it is second alphabetically.

3:25 pm

OK - 85/4.65/1090 3x7, 9x6, 28x5, 45x4 8xA 7xC 2xD 3xE 10xF 17xH 2xI 2xJ 5xN 1xO 7xR 12xS 9xT Does anyone else with 85 words have the same point total?

I'm missing one of the sixes... can someone point me to the list of them?

3:40 pm

runningforhome -- there was a list given earlier but it's missing one -- 33, 36, 48, 33, 18, 27, 33, 33 I'm missing that one and the 18 so far ...

Thanks fixit - I have all those.

3:51 pm

aaah! got the 6 for 18 now -- was somehow 'blind' to the O at the top ;-P JLM -- hints on the remaining 6??

3:53 pm

6's - 33, 36, 48, 33, 18, 27, 33, 18, 33 The 6/18 you are missing is plural, but does not end in S.

I'm still missing 10 words: 2-A,1-C, 1-E, 3-H, 1-N, 2-S.

5:03 pm

runningforhome -- The Hs are 5, 2x4, 5, 4, 6, 4, 5, 6x4, 2x5, 7 in alpha-order HTH! ;-) Still looking for several myself . . .

5:45 pm

Hi jlm_mi, I've just checked in to see if the total went over 85 - just for the record my 85 are for exactly the same points etc as yours, so it does look like that is it :o)

5:53 pm

It won't take antsie.

6:09 pm

I've hit the wall at 72. I'm missing Ax1, Ex3, Nx2, Rx2, Sx3, and Tx2. I can't for the life of me see the E's ;-(

6:22 pm

Add another letter periwinkle

6:41 pm

granadan, I did add another letter before I saw your post. Thanks anyway. :)

7:05 pm

czdad, i've got 2 E's...one is a bird and the other is a plant. :-)

7:11 pm

The third E is a geographical name that should be a proper noun.

8:09 pm

It is a proper, geographical name, but it is also a small cooking apparatus, which would not be capitalized.

8:14 pm

Thanks. I guess that's the whole point of this game. I had no idea it had another meaning.

8:31 pm

I'm going bonkers trying to find the E's, bird and plant not withstanding. Who invented this..er...game :)

8:37 pm

fit1 - do you have the T bird? the E word is another name, drop the T, add an S. Now for that bloomin' plant (no pun intended).

8:38 pm

The E bird, although not similar in size & family, is similar letter-wise to a T bird you probably have. The E cooking apparatus is similar to an American insurance co that begins A

8:40 pm

Soho72 - the third E is an Italian volcano/lab vessel

8:41 pm

Christine -- 'great minds' and all that . . . ;-) you have the plural T bird too, right?

8:43 pm

Ooops on the bird clue. Now, other than ERICA, what darn plant begins with E? aaargh...

8:47 pm

Christine: A variety of taro

8:48 pm

Knew I should not've come back - now I'll be trapped in the dreaded babble grid. My little sister is beating me, day after day -- and that's sooo wrong.

8:49 pm

Christine, Don't feel bad, my younger sister is beating me every day too.

8:51 pm

fixitfmly, Thanks so much for the taro clue. I had to look it up in my scrabble dictionary. I also was focusing on the wrong E. The plant starts with the top E.

8:52 pm

I've had the third E for a while, Christine. I just didn't know that it was also a common noun.

8:55 pm

You guys are top drawer. Got the bird, the plant and the cooking apparatus, all of which I never heard of, thanks to your clues. Am I a genious or what? LOL

8:56 pm

Yhanks for the clue - looked it up on dictionry.com - cheating or a learning experience, as our Mums taught us? Now, those little 'uns - I guess it's a credit to us, as older sisters, right?

9:27 pm

Periwinkle, Daisy, Marigold - are y'all sistes? like the flowe- women in "Keeping Up Appearances"?

9:34 pm

periwinkle and me are sisters

9:42 pm

any clues for the other 7 for 18? I got the O. I am having the hardest time today.

9:46 pm

I mean 6 fro 18

9:47 pm

CZ: Well, it's awfully handy when your daughter is a bioscientist. I have all 3 of the E's now, and had only ever heard of one before today.

9:48 pm

jayferg -- I'm assuming you mean 6/18 not 7 -- it's related to your chest bone, add a letter to a 5/10 you probably have.

9:49 pm

Got it! Thanks.

9:57 pm

grrrrrr....I can not find the other 2 HI words.

9:57 pm

That FR eludes me, 'tho I'm sure I've tried evey combination for a 4 or 5 letter word (obviously not). I need 3xA, 3xC, 2xH, 2xN, 2xE, 4xS, 4xT and, 1xF

10:02 pm

jayferg -- The two you are most likely missing . .. 1 has no def in the dictionary but is common on the grids (I only enter it b/c I've seen it before) think of the sound a snake makes but put a weird letter at the end 2 think of an abbreviation for a college course of past world events

10:04 pm

I thinkthey should accept afro. it was a popular hairstyle in the 60s :(

10:05 pm

Christine -- it is a cleaving tool "Do your ears hang low? do they wobble . . ."

10:08 pm

I'm still missing 1 C and 1 R I have 3x CH, 2x Ci, and 1x CR 5x RE, 1X RO Any hints for me??

10:11 pm

Thee is a fourth ch

10:16 pm

fit1 -- Thank you for that stylish little word -- I was fixated in the wrong place! ;-) Now to look at that R with 'new' eyes!

10:26 pm

thanks for the HI clues. I already had one of them and got the snake clue. Still need one more HI but....15 more words to go.

10:29 pm

Christine: Do you have the geeky N word? I'm bored with this R that I can't find but I can't pull myself away with just one more word to find

10:31 pm

fixitfmly. you must have the cattle group word. change the first letter and you've got a geek

10:32 pm

jayferg -- one HI means to go quickly the other is what I'm giving you now ;-D

10:33 pm

fit1 -- yes, I have the geek. Just missing one R word and I'd have them all.

10:34 pm

do you have the RE that is part of the hebrew alphabet? Just found that by accident.

10:35 pm

fixitfrmly. Could you be missing the kingly type word?

10:48 pm

I have the Hebrew letter. Not sure about the kingly word -- one word I have is a coin and also used in the East for 'person of authority, esp captain of a ship' . . . but that's the closest to 'kingly' on my list. But DH just got home and I'm being sent to bed for my own good ;-D After all, tomorrow is another grid . . .

10:55 pm

how many TR words are there?

10:57 pm

jayferg -- just 3 TRs 6, 4, 5 really leaving this time! ;)

10:58 pm

I think the RE you are missing is another word for "real"

11:00 pm

Got the last 2 TR's. I swear I tried that combo a million times......

Still need 2 As, an N, and an S...

11:27 pm

I need 1 A, 2 N's and 3 S's

11:28 pm

I should really give up instead of wasting the next 33 minutes.

11:50 pm

fixit - I have the geeky word - 'think sheep' with an N to start.... What R are you missing? I still don't have the FR word - how hard can THAT be?? Only 11 minutes, then I'm out of my misery -- until 13 minutes from now.

11:52 pm

The FR word is all on the top row.

11:55 pm

Jayferg -thank you - I just KNOW I tried that, and every other, combo.aaargh...

11:58 pm

I think I am done with 4 words to go. I have tried every combo I can think of and they are still hiding from me.
