That worked for me, hurshy. Thanks.

Ty Scrab
He is adorable Enjoy every moment, even when exhausted, as time flies. My nephews are now 29, 27 (today!), and 23. My grand-nephews are 4 and 2 (yesterday.) Everything zips by.
i know. each new milestone amazes me. im savoring it all!
I returned my grandnephews to their mother last evening as the Family Court judge gave her custody again after 6 months. I am grieving now although exhausted and ready to take care of me.
hello everyone.
what are the chances she's going to do better this time?
Hi Owl.
Ruru, she lost custody because she permitted the boys to witness domestic violence. The boys' father (my nephew) was the perpetrator. The mother did not otherwise neglect or abuse the boys, although she is not an all-star mother.
she sounded irresponsible before no?
is your nephew in jail?
I've never been able to understand how a man could ever hit a woman. it's beyond me
anyone have the po 8?
We got about 8-10 inches so far I would guess
never mind on the po 8
compound word ruru
wow..
where are you mool?
colorado
about 45 minutes from Denver
we're supposed to get 5-7 inches on the weekend
just finished shovelling
there's the last 9 I was looking for
11 to go
Not in jail, never physical abuse, but emotional/psychological/financial abuse. He is a narcissistic jerk. He changed about 4-5 yrs ago at age 24.
My brother lives in Lyons Mool I will expect an email tonight saying he has snow!!
sounds like a real winner scrabbler
how did child services become involved? I could understand if physical abuse.
that was my question too TO
never mind, scrabs, not really my business. i am sitting here coughing and waiting for my doctor's appointment. I feel awful.
Oh, I'm in Longmont Deeha, about 15 minutes from Lyons
Because the boys were exposed to domestic violence and dad had 3 safes of guns, threatened to kill himself, his parents, and the mother of the boys. (The boys' parents had been long separated.)
I hope she has a serious restraining order against him.. that's really scary.. how can someone like that be allowed to keep guns
I was talking to our deputy mayor a few weeks ago and she'd just go back from staying with relatives in Longmont
Ruru, I do not like who he has become AT ALL. It is so sad because I loved him as a little boy and to see him transform into a narcissistic idiot makes me so sad.
With an order of protection he can no longer have firearms.
it's a growing place, Boulder has become too expensive, while Longmont is still relatively affordable and has easy access to the airport, Boulder, Denver and the mountains
happy I moved here
oh that's a relief
It's only about 45 minutes drive to Estes Park too...though probably a lot slower today :)
As long as the order of protection is in place he cannot have firearms.
where's all his anger coming from then.. Narcissism isn't the total cause of that?
Nice, moolingwa.
10 to go
Fiiiiiiinaaaalllllyyyyyy NBT.
My brothjer became a US citizen in 1958. His wife came from the area. He reckons God created Colorado first and used up all his best ideas before he moved on for the rest of the world!!
It's Kay, the Colorado lurker...I'm in the mountains above Boulder, and we have about 14" Hi, Colorado and all others...Very close to Longmont and Lyons.
heh
I have eight of the 9 sevens and the last one is making me crazy. CO, DO, HO, IS, PH, STx2, TO -- can anyone give me the stats for what I'm missing?
It's beautiful country for sure
Still not a citizen myself...but considering it
been here for 21 years
Anger towards his parents for not being what he wanted them to be--both are mentally ill and father is an alcoholic. Narcissists are actually insecure. And angry at himself for 2 unplanned pregnancies with an uneducated girl. Duh, use condoms. Choose a good partner. Date someone for a long time before you have kids. Stop blaming others....
Hi Kay--I haven't seen you n ages.
Lyons must have one of the best patchworks shops anywhere!!I go in there every three years or so and they remember me!!
yeah, it's a cute town
Hi, Scrabbler! It's been a while. We lost everything in the 2013 flood. It's taken a while for recovery, but I've been on--just lurking.
9 to go
Oh, no, mirandapan!
Go moolingwa, go!
you're in CO too then?
In the mountains above Boulder, Moo--Fourmile Canyon
ah cool, yeah we looked around in the mountains, but with a 5 year old, felt it was more practical to live on the plains
So in Longmont now
My brother has a cabin in Eldora he loves the mountains
I like Aspen a lot
Love Eldora--and the skiing is going to be great there after this storm...
Here in New York state the Adirondack Mountains are my/our paradise.
My brother woke up the day after the flood and only he and one other woman were left in town. No-one told him they were all moving out in the night!!
yikes, scary stuff
le5/14?
Yikes! We actually had a very dramatic rescue--zipline over raging water. Rescue workers are amazing folks.
Brother is 89 he still does s everal miles walk every day must be the air!
Colorado is a very active place :)
it's the pot deeha :D
le5/14?
hi folks. Happy New Year! have been lurking too, hard to type. smashed right index finger in car door before Christmas, trying to save top joint - lost down below nail bed. Not a cheery thing to report.
it's sounds hawaiian aeb
in fact it contains the letters for the hawaiian dance in it :)
oh no, aloy!
8 to go...1st, 2nd and 5th columns complete
oh.. aloy.. that sounds awful
He told us a funny story. After the water had gone down he was in the front garden and two JW's stopped and asked him if there was anything they could do to herlp. He said yes, you can clear our my freezer. He said when they opened the door they went white from the smell but give them their due they did the job!!
My gosh what a weird word! Ty mool
we can start calling you Frodo then :D
trying to forgive myself, ru.. lol, f
you're welcome aeb
Oh, no, Aloy! Is a hand surgeon taking care of you?
Frodo too?
Deeha, what's a JW?
*note to self.. buy Aloy..a Lord of the Rings gold ring*
Or one of those big foam hands with the finger pointing up?
Jehovah's Witness
a plastic surgeon
Ah. Thanks. *fish*
yup, I'm always pointing
scrabs, what is good for temporary relief of hacking cough?
Plus the foam will offer some protection from future door closing incidents
Steam TO
Also tea with honey, but you have to keep drinking it :)
like the foam finger idea !
Well gotta go, have a conference call I need to run
be back later for the last 8
Spoonfuls of honey and VicksVapo Rub on bottoms of feet. Otherwise remember that the cough is there as a way to protect the airway, to clear mucous, and will improve when the illness resolves.
And stay away from irritants--cigarette smoke, perfumes, fireplace smoke, etc.
i just bought honey, i will try it ty. thought it was a head cold but it is progressing, feeling worse each day
and fever
The common cold will last 10-14 days and the first week is misery.
i guess i am not used to getting them, it is so rare. now i feel like a baby for going to the doctor.
amazing how many of todays words were in yesterdays
feel better asap, to
18 for later, poof
aw ty, aloy. you are having a much harder time of it.
why is pothos not accepted?
I think pathos is a word.

hp

nm - monkeyed it
ty bo
:)
just found the po 8 -- guess Canada is going to be one great big one -- not too happy about that
Well I have to say, legalization here in Colorado has had little to no effect for the majority of people
hope that will prove true here as well mool
I would dare say that alcohol has a much greater impact on society that marijuana
And I am definitely not for making alcohol illegal :)
nan, could you please clue the po 8?
but as BC is already well known in the northwest for it's bud...
I thought we were clueing it :)
nm, ty, got it
7 to go
6 to go
can't see that bud and alcohol are on a par -- booze doesn't lead to taking stronger and stronger drugs like mj.
Well...I have to disagree with that asssertion
and we have a big enough problem with drugs laced with fentanol
While I don't use it now, I have in the past
I was also around dealers, both of pot and things much more stronger
I found that people who used pot were typically using it for different reasons than those who used harder drugs
we'll have to agree to disagree
But over use of alcohol can mae you very sick
Alcohol can also make you violent
so can drugs
Is a significant contributor to automobile related accidents
Some drugs yes, but not marijuana
It can destroy your liver
drugs also do all those things -- and marijuana does impair driving and cognitive ability
There are some challenges with marijuana legalization
and marijuana can destroy young people's minds
Primarily, there's no good way to detect whether it has an active effect
it has recently been proven to impair brain development in people under age 25, mool.
Well again, I grew up surrounded by pot users, and know many of them today...can't say I saw a lot of destroyed minds there :)
I don't think it's the pot, but the lifestyle of someone who has to use it everyday
All you have to do is wander the streets in the seedier parts of town. As a responsible taxpayer, I resent having to support people who have fried their brains on drugs (or alcohol for that matter)
There are indications that heavy use does in fact impact IQ
Alcohol can also impact the developing brain
There's also some research that suggest caffeine can also have an impact
Salt and sugar have strong links to heart disease
That's where I draw the line. Need my caffeine
And I might point out that heart disease is one of the top if not top killer in most developed countries
All I know is that safe injection sites and antidote kits for fentanol that our health agencies are handing out are costing our governments (ie taxpayers) a small fortune.
But you're equating fentanol with marijuana
no - I'm saying that marijuana users have a greater tendency to move on to stronger drugs.
There's also some studies that show a link between alcohol abuse leading to marijuana use
or to nicotine abuse (to use another drug)
I have no problem with moderate use of marijuana and I believe that for certain medical conditions, such as epilepsy, it can be beneficial
The US government has a good short article on these issues...
but I believe it should be sold only by prescription or the very least at liquor stores where ID is regularly checked and over to those over age 25
https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications\n/research-reports/marijuana/marijuana-\ngateway-drug
In colorado they have something akin to liquor stores
It's 21 years here...
While we're at it, we should probably change the age of enlistment. Can't imagine there's many 18 year olds who truly understand the commitment they're making :)
mool - my point is, that I don't think users should be allowed to grow and sell it. Hard liquor up here is sold ony in government controlled stores - if marijuana is legalized, I think it should be the same.
I watched one of our neighbour's sons who had been a friend of my sons go from a straight A high school student to a high school dropout in the space of 2 years after being introduced to marijuana.
So why didn't your son take it up?
Ultimately I think that marijuana is blamed for other issues in many cases
The government ends up spending a lot of money to "protect" society, and the cost of that protection vastly outweighs the cost of the problem
He probably did try it, but both were elite atheletes and they knew they would be thrown off the track team in a heartbeat if their coach knew they used drugs or alcohol
I had opportunities throughout my teens to try it, but didn't decide to until I was around 22
none of our children ever smoked anything, and certainly didn't drink while they were still in school. Track was too important to them, and we were fortunate in having a coach who was strongly against performance enhancing drugs long before it became an issue at the olympics.
The marijuana of today is much more potent than the MJ of the 60's and 70's. And I have never tried it ever.
I had read that somewhere, Scrabs
I've tried some pretty potent stuff, but wasn't to my liking
Hello friends - showing babble to a great student - everybody wave!

Hi

hi Owl - still dancing the NY away?
hi TO...
i am sidelined currently. perhaps flu.
dr has been testing and found four or five cases in people who took at flu shot.
bummer...
i declined a test. trying tamiflu
ugh. I was just going to ask if you got flu shots. Maybe a new strain, seems hard for them to keep up with them.
lots of words ending in EL today....
night, all
goodnight...
bye Owl, look after yourself
Not for nothing, but I have no big belief in flu shots.
i do....they have worked for me....and before i started getting them, i usually did get the flu...
some years they work better than others, i guess....depends on whether they guess right about the strain....
I have planned to get my flu shot twice and have been sick both times so cancelled
bummer....
i got mine....and i got a second pneumonia shot...
Hello all. I've never had a flu shot. I have a friend whose work requires it and every time she gets super sick afterwards.
Who knows, maybe I have had low-grade flus
bye everyone!
bye...
bye
I have 11 left to find
5s, 6s and 7s

I usually don't get whatever is going around. This last thing that's gone about here though i got it. I'm getting over it right now. It wasn't all that bad.

Baha Men
is it recent?
define recent lol
never heard of baha men either...
No, it's ancient :)
I would say 80s or 90s?
I wouldn't say 2000 is ancient
i haven't paid much attention to popular music since the mid 80's...
must be 90's...
Regardless, I didn't get the clue either.
Okay, it seems it's been around a lot longer than that.
Oh well.
I tried! LOL
I'm thinking the name is what was a song in the 50s Mr Le*
released in 2000...
I don't get the rest
ty, m9....i did eventually get the word....the Asian last name did help....
:-D
I have kids, I am forced to pay attention to popular music. Some of it has a beat and you can dance to it.
Yup. Exactly Molly.
hah....my cousin was actually on American Bandstand... :oD
I still don't get it
lehua
What a great clue Molly :)
Well there ya go Molly. I could have just clued it like that!! LOL
there you go...
Ty
Also, most of the crew I run with are musicians who keep in touch with what is getting air play
I keep up with new music, I have spotify and check out new releases sometimes.
Sometimes you just need to put it out there and get on to the next round of clue requests.
The song by Baja Men is WHO let the dogs out.
we listen to all SORTS of stuff here. Lots of classic R&R, musicals, songs from shows, cartoons, youtubers, technopop, kpop, mandopop...
That song is going to be going through my head tonight...
i do not....the closest i get is like what a friend gave me for Christmas....the latest bluesy CD from the Rolling Stones... ;o)
Yes, monkey.. it was a "sounds like"
Also, I often discover someone on the Grammys
yes, lil....we did figure that out eventually....
I've been big on listening to Broadway show tunes lately. Hamilton, Waitress, Something Rotten, etc.
i do have some CDs from after the 80s but i don't regularly listen to current music...
Right now I'm listening to a lot of 50's 60's music, trying to figure out what we're doing next at the senior center.
It is hard to relate a sounds like with "who" and "hua"
Now I have 10 left
on my cousin road trip to Canada, we listed to Roy Orbison, Everly Brothers, Chad and Jeremy, Rufus Wainright, and one other that i cannot recall....
Me neither pen. Although I really like the lastest Brandon Flowers album and listen to the songs on Youtube. I go through phases.
no.. the sounds like was just the Hu. and then a vowel.
i did hear a story about him on NPR and i liked his music...
Hu's on first.
whaut's on second
He has a couple of youtube videos where it's just him singing outside with a young man playing the guitar. Very nice. It's nice to just hear a voice singing simply.
Be back in a bit, have to empty the cat box... 2 cats is so much more than 1 was :)
agreed....i saw someone called Seth Glier in concert a year or so ago.....had just a sax player with him and he was great....
we have to cat boxes..one for each cat. :-)
two. two cat boxes.
I only have room for one :)
http://tinyurl.com/jzw7cuh Wish I could sit around a campfire with these two.. :-)
nice, thanks...
and one more: http://tinyurl.com/j7jx2k4
Litter boxes gross me out.
Since you like the older stuff, any suggestions for what to sing for the folks at the home? I'm thinking it would be fun to do Johnny Get Angry LOL
Oh well, they are necessary :)
My daughter takes care of the boxes at our house :-D
um....i have no idea what Johnny Get Angry is....
I find since I clean it every day it is not too bad. They are smaller than my last cat so it sort of evens it out a little, still a bit more work.
Shelly Fabares sang it.
was that the title?
Ugh.. I do not like her version!
or Joannie Sommers
1962 Joanie Sommers version. And it has kazoos!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI_nk0\nL-cF4
Wow, that is a really bad song. Are you trying to get the seniors angry?
It's a terrible, terrible song!
i looked it up....The worst songs in the world... ever!: "Johnny Get Angry" by Joanie ... worstsongsintheworldever.blogspot.\ncom/
And it always cracks me up, 'cause it's SO bad.
Well, not exactly a classic :)
i would think you would want songs that people can sing along?
Yeah. Not really. LOL
Now it's time for cat wrestling, who will win tonight?
How about some Monkee's songs? :)
But these seniors have quite a sense of humor. We had a blast with them on Christmas Eve. Sang for about a 1/2 hour on the memory care ward..just classics, and then an hour over in main residential area.
Oh.. the Monkee's! Hmm... I'll think about that!
Found my last 7 letter word
I work in a facility for seniors, and they like old Motown songs.
some of those are good....also, (gag!) things like Roses are Red....perhaps Pretty Woman (fun to sing the arrrrggggghhh)....
Supremes....
My Guy....
I donated some old CD to our local seniors center, mostly 60s including the Monkees :)
GOod to know monkey!! Yes! Thought of that one pen!
nice...
Supremes "Baby Love", Jackson 5 "ABC", etc.
I know I love to sing along with Motown :)
They loved Hippopotamus for Christmas
some Beatles might be good, too....
We have a deejay come in once a month, and the seniors are most excited when the deejay plays the different songs for line dancing.
And they particularly liked when Steph and I did harmonies. So I'm thinking mamas and papas.. peter paul and mary ..
LIke Electric Slide, Wobble, and the Cupid Shuffle
Oh and Elvis. I did Blue Christmas :-)
Also the WHip , Nay nay song
good idea, m9....
They said they really appreciated that we didn't do the "usual" whatever the usual is...?
songs that have good choruses would be good for a sing along...
And the only request they came up with was "mary did you know" so they're up on the new stuff too! We didn't "know" it... but Steph pulled up the lyrics on her smart phone. She can play ANY thing on the piano!!
60s songs should produce a lot of "oh, i remember that..."
There is always Sweet Caroline...
Neil Diamond!! YES!!
Do you know what he wanted originally as his stage name??? :-O
No
How about some Lesley Gore songs?
Can I have a clue for the CO 6/27? I have tried everything.
xeroxed...
"it's my party and i'll cry if i want to"....such a whiny girl....
TY, jeez, I had the other one
yw...
It's my party and I'll cry if I want to ...and .... now it's Judy's turn to cry!
Yes, but there is also Sunshine and Lollipops...
well, you would cry too if it happened to you!
true.....
hah!
So.. Neil Diamond is is real name. But he considered.. Noah Kaminsky, and Ice Charry!! For real!
ewwww....
I find it so funny that that song is about John and Judy and was recorded around the time JFK was having an affair with Judith Exner :)
Ice Charry? Thank goodness someone talked him out of it.
there is also the Beach Boys....
Unchained melody? Or You've lost that loving feeling?
Yes, Beach Boys are always good
I sang God Only Knows at the funeral for my friend's mother.
How nice
great trivia, sukee.
7 to go
I need to get going. Have to make a pineapple upside down cake.
Bye, have a good night
bye M9...
4 left, my monkeys are good tonight
Okay 3 left and all 0s
5s and 6s?
Yes
good news is one is a plural...
I figured that :)
Got them :)

Ty, I can give a clue or two...or try
oh i am done......but ty...

Me too. Take care all.
clue for co7/40 please? I'm guessing it's related to the 6/24?
never mind - found it.
evening all!
Hi babblers.
hello friends
Name that proper noun - a plant
Hi Bugs!!
hi origami. sorry, godthaab, no idea yet
Pothos?
Very Excellent! You win a bag of fertilizer!
TY! I always need more :-)
You can never have too much fertilizer, I say.
never heard of it
It is a pretty common houseplant. Very sturdy - lasts for years with relatively little care
bet I could kill it.
hahahaha
I'm sure you've seen them. they are very common and used to be considered a type of philodendron. They will grow in a jar of water. I've had some in water that I haven't fed in years
yes, I just looked and I think I had some in the 70's. I went through a phase of trying to decorate with plants because I didn't have enough money for furniture. I have outgrown that mess.
I am fond of plants that thrive on neglect -)
I am still good on neglect but this house doesn't face the right way to catch the sun.
Mine is cave-like (which is good because the summer is soooo hot here), and pothos are the only plants that will thrive inside.
Hi to all babblers! How is everyone doing this fine evening?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
hello Minveryork.
any clues for the sh 5, please?
Hello there Bugsaw!Th4/5 babbler will let you stay in your ho 5/12 instead of remanding you to the penalty box.
Hi Min
sh5/14 is what you might count if you cannot go to sl 5/12
sorry Minveryork. I need the last sh 5,16
Hello origami! How are U? How many words do U have left?
Haven't listed, but maybe what a librarian says to noisy patrons bugs
sh5/16 is what you should do if U are talking in the library
oh, I found why I should be in the PB. I will happily go if there are others there
Doing OK min. I have 107 left, ha!
How are you min?
I've posted a story of clues in my profile in case ya need it.
Besides all the turmoil in my life, I am taking it day by day
Sorry about the turmoil. Taking it as it comes is all we can do sometimes.
your story seems to have covered it all (except the sh word I can't find for love nor money). Don't worry about spending money that will benefit him. He may only get half of what it was worth before the improvements.
Oh, I found it! thanks
Thanks for the story Min.
yw
I knew you were doing a lot of home improvements, but didn't know why. Sorry you are going through this difficult time.
My old black-and-tan coonhound is acting particularly needy so I am going out in the cold to play with both of them. back in a bit.
Know it will be worth it in the end which seems like an eternity right now. I know that I'm not the only person to go through divorce, so do not want to harp on it too much. Got to remind myself to not feel sorry for myself
I put myself into th 4/5 situation so I am partly responsible
I put all my anger into repairing the house. With each room that was done, I was that much closer to my goal.
(wishes bugs would get angry over here)
