How have you been ladies? Sprite has been very busy, and Rose, so glad to hear you feel like new!
I've been being good about fluids, herbs and lots of C. It's rather minor, just more tired and a tad sniffly.
I am ok. Just very busy indeed. Terra had surgery done last Friday. The new vet found out what the trouble with his eyes has been: the lower eyelids are folded too far inward, causing the lashes to irritate and damage the eyeball all the time.

we have had a very tragic time here. a young greek man lost the plot, drove his car into our capital city, and then drove through crowds of people, killing 4, and injuring many.
Oh that's hard on a pup. I have a Springer Spaniel, who fortunately does not have that problem, but it is somewhat common. Is she doing ok?

terra hasn't been a pup for ages, the other vet always said it was a shortage of tear fluid. Am feeling so rotten about him having had hairs in his eye all this time. But yes, he is doing great so far, wearing a plastic thing to keep him from scratching.
So sad people go crazy like that, Rose.
I never watch the news. I send my daily prayers to the people hurting and suffering in the world... and I do not need to know the details.
sprite, did the vet remove the eyelashes?
no rose, he cut out small triangles out of the eyelids and sutured them, forcing the eyelids to turn out just enough to make the eyelashes point outwards instead of in.
Poor Terra has to wear the "cone of shame." When my dog had to wear one, I had to buy a cloth one because he was so rambunctious that he shredded the plastic one in two days! He was about 7 months old...got neutered and had a hernia repaired.
strangely...don has eyelashes which grow and brush his corneas. once i pull them out, he is much more comfortable.

Eww, I hate anything near my eyes, I would much rather have no eyelashes than have them poke me! Yes, sounds like the vet knew exactly how to fix the problem.

terra turns 8 or 9 this year... and he will always be our baby, grin
Our cats and dog are our babies now since our kids are all grown and have kids of their own.
the vet also cleaned out the tear ducts as well as was possible. If all goes well, they will be undamaged and terra won't have teary eyes anymore. But even if they aren't functioning anymore, he won't have hairs in his eyes anymore and that is what counts.
I hope he heals well. What kind of dog?
king charles cavalier spaniel
so far he is healing better than the vet predicted. Not as much swelling as he feared, and terra is feeling chipper, apart from being irritated by the darn cone.
Oh my, I had a smaller spaniel back in the 90s. I love spaniels! I adopted a senior Springer when I moved here, and then got my pup after he passed. I don't know exactly which spaniel I had before, she was sold as a cocker, but wasn't. I'm guessing she was the prince charles type - all red. They are such sweeties, big or little!
spaniels are the best.
I fell in love with a cocker at age 1 - my uncle loved spaniels too. They've always been my favorite.

My senior adoptee was liver/white, my current guy is black/white. Spaniels generally just want to please, I think that's why I love them so much! I hope Terra continues healing quickly.

They do! Individuals each - but true with most breeds I think. I had been looking for another Springer to adopt for months and months when a breeder friend had a litter sired by a dog someone I had met at a training class owned - and this person I didn't know let me know about the litter! So I got the pick of the pets from the litter - his sister was a champion before she was a year old! My guy is WAY too big to conform, he's a solid 65+ pounds! Hubby calls him the 'elephant spaniel.'
You can't imagine how much I cherish this contact -- and it's even in English!!!

I don't know, every dog I've had got it as soon as I showed them how to push it with their nose. Even a Malamute.
A small man could get through that door though, I'm glad we're in the country and have one nosy neighbor! All neighbors have dogs who bark, so there are always alerts. Strangers seem to stay away from our little corner.
Today I hve to find a carpenter, an electrician, talk to the Fr lawyer and finalize the reverse-mortgage. Can I do it all fropm bed?
