Damn you, potato!
lol I was thinking the same thing - it just jumps out at you, doesn't it? :-p
Realtor is not a valid word?!
Neither is hoon!! Bugger!!
137 words, if anyone's interested.
137, cool. Something to aim for. Thanks.
I think Realtor may be considered a proper noun. I looked it up, and it was kinda of presented in that way. Bummer.
Isn't a jool a term of energy measurement?
Ya, it is. I tried the same thing, but its spelled joule. Total bummer.
have half of that - 68 - & must sleep. 5 6's: d l m p t see you all later!
1 joule =1 kg*m/s (I'm pretty sure)
1 more d-6
I'm off to bed... my best are: 7/32 (d) 7/40 (f) 8/40 (r) 110/4.40/956 Don't think there are many big words in this puzzle.
You can find all kinds of neat measurements at: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=measurement Joule is under the Derived Units, with names and symbols. A bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck....
liz, who scored such points yesterday.... are you my niece in London?? Either way, CONGRATULATINS!!!!
i think i confused a joule with a newton. there's that hard-earned college degree working it's magic!
There's a measurement called a Newton? See, you know more than me, and I've had 2 yrs jr college, 3.5 yrs university, plus a few summers. And what do I do for a living, house watch and babysit.
Throw in the occasional lawn mowing, and I'm the whole house watching package. Ya! (not).
i'm a living physics textbook! there's my new job!
are there any words in this puzzle? i got 20 so far, and now i'm lost.
Stick to the 4 ltr words, and its smooth sailing....
every word you think you see is one letter off. pota-o, mur-l, rot-r, murd-r, jan-t-r, etc. AAARGH!
I feel your pain...;)
Ah, man. It won't take 'enola.' Oh well.
it wouldn't take "ebola" a few days ago either
Ya, you'd think every dictionary would have that...
i'm off to sleep now. best of luck to you all. 'night!
The F7 is quite ironic.
83 for 622. Hasta la bye-bye.
I'm on 34
Argghhhh! It wont take *pootle* or *rootle* - things my dachshunds do all the time!
POOTLE?
yep, they pootle around the garden...
I want tolarate....
I mean tolerate, how many do you have?
5. Mini smooths.
I don't understand, I'm sorry I am new here
ROTFL! Sorry - I thought you meant the dogs! 80 words, 577 points. (still laughing - my mistake!)
wow, I'm back at 47...
I got stuck at 50, then added the er to words Id already got.
That gets me a couple, my score is 355. I got a 6 letter word *yeah*
Some are so close
Have you been able to use the J? I havent yet
Tora tora
Just once... should I tell you?
where are you now?
At 12:32 am runningforhome said... 137 words, if anyone's interested. i take it that wasn't from the Babble solver? Hope not - cause I'm stopping for the moment at: 148 words 4.49 1378 3 7s - but I don't have that 7/f... maybe later!
137 damn, just when I thouht I was doing good with my 81...
148 -- oh no... I have only 67 words ... and only one 7 ... but I do have three Js. Time for a cuppa, and another attack on the grid...
3 j's I only got one... Hmmm... another hour goes by!
86 words 4.34 665 thats where it ends for me tonight.
I love how almost every day, I learn at least one new word.. Recently I read where someone glowed about the beauty of her irises.... and I thought: she should play babble, she'd know the word is NOT irises....
148!!! irk ....
There's an A 7 for 36
There are ~225 words in this puzzle: 1x8 7x7 23x6 55x5 139x4

hmmmmm 3 7s to go .....
Atalante - If you're still looking for 3 7s, I have one you do not. I have: 7-32 d 7-40 f 7-28 r 7-44 w Any clues on the 7-36 a? I'm guessing you're missing the 7-44 W. Think military.
There's a P7 for 36 - coming from a 6 for 24. Clue for the A ... hmmm .... someone helping the poor
7/36 with p
sorry Atalanta..didn't see your message. Didn't mean to repeat
ooooh thats a *good* W 7!!
Yeah, I was a bit stoked to find that one!
I bet! The A 7 is like that too ...... its a nice word :)
Yep, just found that. I kept trying to put an I in the middle, but finally worked around that. Just found the P as well. I didn't have the 6, but then it suddenly jumped out. So, I've got: 15xA 11xD 6xE 6xF 5xH 1xI 3xJ 17xL 19xM 8xN 2xO 9xP 18xR 16xT 2xU 11xW
Oh Wendrie - who feels like a fool, now.... fortunately, y'all are the only ones I've told about this, and you won't say anything, right..... or, maybe I'll pretend I thought she was speaking of her eyes... yes, that's it.
Putting a positive spin on this whole thing -- of course, I just learned another thing: the plural of iris may yet be irises.
142/1283
Hmm - I have five 7s A, D, P, R,and W; I've yet to find the F - any clues on that, please? and what is the seventh word - well, not the word (unless you insist) perhaps the start letter/points or definition or...I must've missed, that when I read the chat.
Ah Man!! It won't take 'talmud.' Don't these people read?!?
Christine - I don't think anyone has mentioned the 7th 7 word yet. No idea what it is here, anyway. For the F 7, the clue given earlier was that it is ironic. Perhaps it should be written "iron"-ic.
Got the F-7, good clue with the iron-ic.
jlm -- at 8:41 you mentioned the breakdown of 6s, 7s, 8s,.. so I thought perhaps you had a clue there.... the F7 I had thought of that kind of IRON.. Anothe cuppa, another go at the grid, but that's OK, 'cos I have the whole day free.
155 words 4.53 1487 Does anyone know how many words there are in this puzzle??
I believe 225.
I don't have the breakdown - haven't found all the words yet, just got it from the solver. I can't think of any other clues for the F word without giving it away, but will post if I can come up with one. :)
jmdobie - see 8:41 post.
thanks!
Wow, I don't know what I did wrong with the solver, but I was way off!
i keep seeing "aorta"
I already have an F6/33 that's IRON related - the root word for F7/40 is probably hidden in there..
Thanks Christine! Didn't have that F/6/33, but I do have another F/6/33 that is part of the body. And yes, your F/6/33 is very close to the F7.
Christine - you are totally right! Your suggestion was what I needed to find the F-7. Thanks!
97 for 809. I'm off for a while...
Oh boy, I had the F7 written on my list, but I'd not entered it into the computer, well, duhh... Off to see what 7-letter word I can find without further clues.
8-40 R. I'm stumped! Any help on that one?
mulhe - it won't take FRUM - no Orthodox Jews there??
Whooo - another J - who'd've thought... But still can't find the R8/40... good thing I don't have a life, away from the babble-grid.
160/1417 and I cant see a single additional word
Steve - I'm at 161/1515 so you must be missing some of the longer words. There are hints for 6 of the 7 7-letter words throughout (or at least starting letters and point values) and for the 8-letter. So far, I've also got 14 6's that I could post the point values of if it would help.
Back on for one last try. This is as far as I can go. 206 words 2036 19xA 14xD 10xE 6xF 7xH 3xI 5xJ 20xL 21xM 10xN 6xO 18xP 26xR 26xT 4xU 11xW
re 8 letter R add a suffix to an R 6 for 18 to get an R 8 for 40
there is a t/7/36.
jmbdobie, there is one more w out there.
Are any of the J words worth more than 11 points?
All of the J words I have are worth 11 points.
I am stopping at 206 2036: no more time today, but I ran the solver and here are the stats I came up with. A total of 227 words. 1 X 8 letters 7 X 7 24 X 6 55 X 5 140 X 4 19xA 16xD 11xE 7xF 7xH 3xI 5xJ 20xL 25xM 12xN 7xO 19xP 30xR 28xT 4xU 13xW
that 8 letter R word is killing me; have one that makes sense but it cliams its invalid hmmmm
You and me both, steve! I have a 6 letter R that I want to add -er to the end of, and it seems like it would be a good word. But no, it won't take it. I've tried every combo I can think of, but no luck so far.
speaking of 6s, anyone want to compare? I have thirteen: 18, 21,18,33,33, 18, 24,24,33,18,18,18,18
I have 18,21,21,33,33,18,24,18,24,33,18,18,18,18.
jlm_mi and stevedallas... Are you using the correct 6 letter R word? The 6 letter R word is worth 18 points... and means "a shoot from a plant base (e.g. banana) er... are you with me?
No, I had two 6-letter R words worth 18 points, but neither could be made into an 8 letter. And now I know that for certain, because neither means that. I'll have to look for it later, but thank you so much for the clue!
Is anyone still playing?
I am here.Thought I was doing so well until I saw that there were over 200 words in this puzzle.
I know I shouldn't complain at 182 words, but there are still over 40 to go!
Got the W-7 for 44. Does anyone need help getting it?
If you've got the 7-36 T I could use help there. ;) I have the other 7s, the 8 and 16 6s to help with as well. :)
The 7-40 F word. I have the 6 letter F word. Do I build on that?
I don't have the 7-36 T. I have lots of short words today.
I only have 60 words and will not play much longer. The olympics are on TV.
jlm_mi you're making me feel good. You've been tough to get near and I have 203 words.
The T/7 is a compound word. Start with a T/4 and build.
I'm stuck on the A/7.
Peri - There are 2 6-letter F words for 33 (at least). You want to work with the one that is iron related. Drop the last 2 letters and go from there. Zoe - You're making me blush! ;) And thanks for the help on the T word.
The A7 is tough. It's a person who gives to the poor. But I started looking for a word that might come up in divorce settlements, then dropped the i and found it from there.
jlm-mi, Thanks, I have the right base word. I will keep trying.
Got the f-7 for 40. Thanks for the help, jlm-mi.
My pleasure! Ok, for Zoey or anyone else who has this T7. It must contain either the M or the P, right? So, does the M or P show up in the 4-letter word, or the 3-letter part?
A hint for the 7-36 P and the 7 -32 D would be appreciated.
I can help with those! The D - are you a woman? Think in terms of what happens during labor. Or, when you go to the eye doctor. There is a D-6 that is a verb that means this. The D-7 is the person or thing that causes it to happen. The P7 - think criminal. And start with a 6 letter word. The 7 is the person, the 6 is the event or thing.
jlm_mi - the during labor and eye doctor clues aren't working for me. Is there some other way you can phrase the clue?
during labor its what they measure in centimeters...
jlm-mi, Got the D word. But the clue for the P-7 is not working. Will keep trying. I also need help with the A-7 for 36, please.
jlm-mi, Looked again and got the P word. Thanks :).
The A7 - Think of what a husband might have to pay his wife (with no kids) after a divorce. It's not that word, but similar. Drop the i and work from there. The D7 - Think about old telephones before touch-tone. That word sounds like the beginning of the D7 and D6. The P7 - A criminal would be released from prison and have to report at regular intervals to his ------ officer. Therefore he is a -------.
jlm-mi, Thanks again for your help. Got the A word. Looked up the definition and the British version is what I do for a living.
jlm_mi sorry disappeared for awhile. It has the m in the 3 letter part.
Thanks for the A hint.
Thanks for the great A word clue. You are great, Jim_mi
Wow, I just totally randomly got the T7, thanks to the last clue. There was only one 3-letter word with M I could see, so I guessed. Anyone know what it means????
Another clue for the D6 and 7. You go to the eye doctor for an exam, he sticks liquid in your eyes to do something to your pupils :)
Hi. I'm missing the 7-R 7-W 7-T Any help please?
OK, that T-7 is killing me... I think I know the 3-letter part with the M (does it begin with M?), but I can't find a 4 letter T word to go with it! :/
jlm_mi I think that's what they called the arm on a record player.
The r=7 is someone who tells the story
Ah! Thanks to Zoey's definition, I got it! I can sleep now! ;-) (BTW, the 3 letter part ends in an M)
Thanks. Got the R-7 Still working on the W & T & the 8
OK Found the T-7 also but what a strange word. Never heard of it. Used A2Z Wordfinder.
any clues for the t=7 or the w=7? Please I wanna go beddy bye. Got an early golf game tomorra :)
I need help with the W-7 also. I'm having trouble figuring it out. Maybe my math is incorrect. It is for 44 points so that is 11 tile points. If you subtract the 4 points for the W that leaves 7 points and only 6 letters left. That's where I get lost because there are no nearby 2 or 3 point tiles. Help!!
after thinking math, I think we need to get down to the D
Got it. Thanks for the D. It ends in D. Think about 2 words. One is what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan and the second is a word we say in Temple or Church all the time. It is a compound word with the 3 letter word coming first.
OK. Got all the 7s. Even though I don't even have close to all the words, it is pumpkin time for the Minster. See y'all in the morning. 96/1009
MAY THE FOUR LETTER WORD BLESS YOU MINSKI!!!!
