This one's a stinker.
yeah I agree
whaddayamean? i got a 6 for 30. oh boy. :-\
I have a 6 for 24 and another for 30.
Oh. I have 6's for 24, 21, 21, and 30.
I dont have any sixes. dont i feel smart
I really feel like I should be able to use the "ish" suffix, but am not finding anything.
an' now a 7 for 32.
7: g & n 32's 6: d/24 n/21 r/21 s/30
I know - since when is "wigish" not a word! ;-)
my 6-for-30 is a w.
7 for 44! I love when I really think there's a word in the puzzle and it's actually there.
35/403...will look for those tomorrow.
*found the w
I've found 4 inexplicable words through almost-random typing.
but i bet none of them are "nugsy".
two 7s for 32 - not bad for a rookie ;)
trying ever more desperate variations on "wiener"....
what on earth is a tonearm??????????
Is there a place where you can see the words found in the yesterday babble?
At top theres a link in green saying view yesterdays puzzle. then click on a player name to see their word list
Anyone know how many words we`re playing for today ?
51 words 4.75 604 2 7s 8 6s I might try again later...
I got a 7 for 44
"ratooner" give me a break!!
Karin - 88 words (approximately) 7x7, 15x6, 24x5, 42x4
Found a 6-24-B an endangered large native american animal
53-688 thats enuf for now
A tonearm is the part of a phonograph or record player that touches the record.
I keep seeing diurnal and guise.... <Sigh>
and 'banana.'
Not that they are in this grid, but does anyone know if either 'scuba' or 'radar' are accepted as words in Babble? I'm just wondering because I just tried 'sids' and it didn't take.
"At 12:36 am faeanna said... I really feel like I should be able to use the "ish" suffix, but am not finding anything. " I've only used it once, and it was for a 4 ltr word. Not the kind of usage I was hopeing for.
I used the ish in an A for 7.
mulhermujer - I'm pretty sure I've had 'radar' accepted before. But occasionally a word is rejected that just shouldn't be, regardless of the dictionary used.
ha! 44 for 444 - good place to stop. This grid is not being nice to us!
setting_sun - Oh I know. At times,...what am I saying. Many, many times this dictionary seems to be very arbitrary. I seem to recall 'scuba' being accepted, but I'm not really sure about that. 'Sids' was a long shot, but at least a shot.
Ish for an A-7? Ya, which A? ;) ;)
I already tried 'argish,' but alas, no take....
"I used the ish in an A for 7" if you mean for 7 points, i don't believe that's possible.
The very first A in the puzzle. If you find it, you will know what todays grid is causing all of us.
sorry, I meant it is a 7 letter A, for 44 pts
there is a 7 for 28, too.
where are marigold and periwinkle?
"If you find it, you will know what todays grid is causing all of us." Most apropos. Thanks :)
i am here phillygirlinct
i have at 7/28, 7/32 and a 7/44
could you be my daughter phillygirlinct
a 7 for 28 I do not have, and would change my score of many 4's in a row - but it would be nice to find.... any clues?
24 for 226. Nap time...
the 7/28 starts with a u
thanks marigold! I looked at the U and there it was! right next to the 6 for 18 (which I got first)
Claws you had a good clue for the 7/44 A word. so true
i will be back later. must go now.
60 words 4.87 786 Can't see anymore right now. I'll be back later.
I got a 6/30.
So far: 7xA 6xB 4xD 9xG 1xI 7xN 8xR 7xS 3xU 4xW 1xY 7's = 44,32,32,32,28 6's = 24,24,21,21,30,18,30
I dont like this puzzle
some of mine to add to jlm's list: 1xh 4xi 9xs 7xu 4xy i also have some extra 6s: 24,24,21,21,21,30,18,21,18,30
Thanks jlm_mi for the info on how many words.I`m back to have another go .Got 55 so far.
Anyone have a clue for the 7-28 "u"?
All together now . . .
Ah! I was on the right track. Thanks for the clue.
59 for 779 and its beaten me
I got a 6-U for 21.
Dammit, all the clue for the u-word did was get the Beatles song stuck in my head...
Updating the list, which hasn't changed a whole lot: 8xA 6xB 4xD 10xG 1xH 3xI (still missing at least one) 8xN 8xR 9xS 7xU 4xW 4xY 7's:44,32,32,32,28 (still missing 2 if someone can add to the list) 6's:24,24,21,21,21,30,18,21,18,30 (still missing 5 if someone can add to the list)
I have the following 7's 44,32,32,32,36,32,28
65/921 right now
My first attempt at this game! On 43 words, 553 points. Now I'm getting frustrated!
jlm_mi your missing a 6 for 30.
Welcome, Angeelu! If you look back through the log you should see some helpful information: A while back I posted the final statistics for the game - the number of words, and the number of words at each length. Also, I just posted the number of words I have so far for each letter. It's not all the words, but it will tell you at least some of where you should look to find what you're missing. Finally, you'll see lists of longer words by point value (these are in alphabetical order), and also in some areas clues to the meanings of these words, or their starting letter. Those should hopefully help you find a few more!
Oh, and thanks Karin and stevedallas!
there are two one beg . with the 19th letter of the alph and the other the 23rd.
Karin - I have both of those in my list below.
jlm_mi there`s a 7 for 36. Beg with 7th letter of alph.
Interesting. That mean's that stevedallas' 7's are not in alphabetical order in his 2:03pm post.
geez, i step out for an hour and miss so much! I'm at 6x12--there is a 21 between the two 24s, and a total of four 21s in the middle there. and i'm 'certain' the i you're missing is 4 letters long.
Thanks parsec. With a little work, I can always find 4-letter words!
Found it. What a clever clue, though I never would have found it except by random combos!
another list update: 9xa 6xb 6xd 13xg (I am missing Karin's 7/36 here) 1xh 4xi 9xn 8xr 10xs 7xu 4xw 4xy and looking at my 7s, I do think it's possible (but weird) that stevedallas's are in order.
I have 87 words for 1173 My counts are the same as jlm_mi said (02:00 pm) except for these 9xA 6xD 15xG 1xH 6xI 10xN 10XS
I meant to add that I don't have the 1XH
parsec - You are right! It is possible that those are in order, so I'll go back to assuming that they are. There are just a lot of big words early in the alphabet. :) The 7-36 is the plural of a 6-24 if that helps. In my list it goes 6-24,21,24,24 where that 4th 24 is it.
I must have taken my stoopid pills this AM. I am failing miserably today :(
parsec; the 7/36 is a small marker used on vehicles by cavalry regiments.
OK, just found the last 7 and steve's are indeed in order. I'm sorry to have doubted you, steve! I'm up to 13 6's if they help anyone: 24,21,24,21,24,21,21,21,30,18,21,18,30
fit1, I feel the same way... 44 words and only one measly 7.
jmdobie - I think we have a math problem. At 2:00 I posted counts for 72 words, including the H. You posted counts for 14 more than me, and are missing the 1 H. So, that would put your total count at 72+14-1 or 85 words, but you actually have 87.
If jlm_mi. If they are in order you are missing a 6/30.Something you look through .But I haven`t got all mine yet .
thanks for the clues--i was missing both the 7 and its singular form, but Karin's clue made me look in the right place!
Arg!! So close to spelling 'bwana.' Just be such a cool word to be able to put in a list. Well, at least there is an old word for 'Certainly; assuredly.' That's always a fun one to spell.
Neither of my 6/30s is something to look through, so I'll search for that.
fit1 and running4home--a number of the 6s and 7s share a 4-letter ending.
I have been looking at that 6/30 all day and kept thinking the letters were not in the right order. Doh!!!! 24,21,24,30,21,24,21,21,21,30,18,21,18
jlm_mi your missing a 6/18 it comes three below 7/44.
Anybody have a clue for the two I's I don't have?
parsec. a long green reptile.
Karin. Thanks. Got the Reptile. Whew
Karin, actually I've got that one--my points are 6,21,4, and 7.
persec. it`s a 5/10 . think of what you put ashes in.
I just started this puzzle at 6:15 pm and will not have much time to play. Just as well. I DON'T like this one. marigold and phillygirlinct are you here?
i just came back. I do not know how long I will play. This is not a very good one.
thanks, Karin got the reptile
I should've listened to myself, when I decided not to bother with this one, but through the day I've been adding to my list.... however, all is for naught, because I've only 31 valid words for 361 points - the longest is for only 7/44
Christine, I feel the same way. I only have 36 words. Not sure I will find any more. Will try a little longer.
The i words are 6,21,4,10,4,7. I can't believe it took me all day to find the second 4 pointer. It's not a terribly uncommon word, and it's science related, and I'm an engineer!
Christine - There are other 7s, but nothing longer, and that's the biggest point-value word. Not a bad start. :) The others (6's and 7's) are all called out here in the log, but here's a listing in alphabetical order: 7's:44,32,32,32,36,32,28 6's:18,24,21,24,30,21,24,21,21,21,30,18,21,18,30
Is there anyone still playing who has a lot of N words? I'm looking for more and currently have: 4,10,5,5,32,16,21,4
I'm still here--here's my n's: 14,4,10,5,5,32,16,21,7 I know I'm still missing one-not sure if it's 4 or 5 letters.
OK, I realize I'm here talking to myself. Good thing I like me. :-D But, jmdobie posted earlier with a score of 87 words for 1173 points, and missing the H which is worth 7. So, that would mean 88 words for 1180 points. I currently have 86 words for 1134. That means my 2 remaining words must be worth 46 points together. Those are big words! So, I have 7x7 and 15x6. Are there really 5-letter words that are that big??? Or are there more longer words that anyone has found?
parsec - I mis-typed. I have the 7-pointer at the end, not a 4. And I've found the 14 at the beginning, so I guess we have the same N's, or at least or the same points.
you found the Ns that quickly? Geez, you're good. I've been working on an N, two Is, the first 6x18 and 6x30 for the last three hours.
oh, nevermind. =)
No, I found just the one N. :) I was wrong about the 4 at the end. It was 4 letters, and I copied that instead of the points. The only one I found was the first one. Are you missing the first 6/30? It's not actually something you look through. It's more the act of looking or watching. The 6/18 I found by accident, just typing. It's an adjective meaning "related to frogs or toads". I posted the points for the i words. Which do you need?
OK, I'm at 87 words/1138 points. If jmdobie really was at 1173 there must be several more than 88 words in this puzzle, but now I have no direction. :( LOL!
you know, the math doesn't work for me, either--right now, I have 83/1070, plus what I know I'm missing: 18,30,10,4 = 1132. According to your solver list and previous counts, the last word I'm missing is an Nx5, but for 48 points?
I'm missing the ten and the non-'certain' four. I'm getting to the point where I can't see anything anymore, I'm just trying random crap, but I've never been this close to having all of them before
I just found a 10th N: 14,4,10,4,5,5,32,16,21,7 So, I think you're missing a 4-pointer in the middle. I wish jmdobie would come back and clarify. ;) Here are my starting letters: 9xA 6xB 6xD 1xE 15xG 1xH 6xI 10xN 8xR 10xS 7xU 4xW 4xY
Oh, gosh, the 'certain' 4 is a strange word! But, think of an australia/new zealand bird/fruit and remove the first letter, then pluralize. ;) The 10 clue is what was mentioned earlier about a container for ashes. But, it's a verb meaning to put said ashes into said container. And it's 5 letters.
jlm_mi. I`m stuck on 76, but had enough ,so i`ll bid you good night.Hope you get those last few words .
well i have two fewer Is and one less N, but I still don't have those sixes--so i must have a smaller A and a smaller G that you don't.
and I guess I misspoke, jlm--the 'certain' one is what I have (although that was a great clue) -- I'm missing the _other_ Ix4.
OK, that is a chemistry word, and it is plural. It is the plural of an atom that has gained a net positive or negative charge.
I can see the word for a container for ashes. Its only three letters long, so how is it in the puzzle? I looked it up in the dictionary, and it gave two other spellings (from Latin), one is not accepted, and the other you cannot spell in this grid. A little help please?
So, you have more than 9 A's or 15 G's?
mulher - see my 8:35pm post.
no, I have exactly 9 As and exactly 15 Gs--but not the a/6/18 or g/6/30. You do have those two, ergo, you are missing one of each that I have.
Aaah - I suppose I'm a bit slow at the moment. It's about my bedtime. :)
Wait - There's not a G/6/30. There's an E/6/30 though. ;)
I really don't like this one at all.
Just found a G/7. And boy, it describes what I feel like right now :)
jlm_mi - Wow, I never even knew that that verb existed. I couldn't figure it out until my dad said to me, "what about inter?" Then I figured it out. :)
I never knew it existed either, but worked my way to it from the ash container clue. There are some odd words out there!
OK, I just stumbled across another 5-letter A word for 10 points, and I'm off to sleep. I have to quit at 88/1148 but I'll be very curious to check out word lists tomorrow.
i was going to quit too, but the score i have is 666, can't stop there, but this puzzle is a pain....... why are we doing this?
anyone used the y in this one ?
There are 4 Y words.
I'm going to kill my parental unit for suggesting I play this game. Better yet I'll leave my children with them. I just started an hour ago and I've got 23 words and I'm already going blind.
There are also at least 3 words containing Y.
I'm done, I can't find anything. 50 for 553. Good luck to all, and to all good luck ;)
thanks y"all, i went and read the y section of my dictionary and found 3 of them, i have two with y in them.
42/534. very much done. why does anuria tease me?
49/599 bedtime nighty-night
43/578 rather - just found the a/44. fitting...!
Darn - just got home. and it's too late to look for more wors... Only 38/45. Hasta manana....
