poor peach..
Thanks, rose, I needed that.

haven't we all ?? it's so horrible.
pr6, pr6, pr6 your craft gently down liquid solution ecstatically ecstatically ecstatically existence is but an illusion
everyone's been reading about WWI ? oh, thought it was just me!
*giggling** hurshy.
it's the kingly version of row row row your boat...
you weren't referring to the acts of terrorism ?? i've nearly hanged my mind several times about our trip.
no, the Great War was far more horrifying than anything that goes on today
true... but it seemed to be contained within one land mass.
but SO many more people...
and what about North Korea flexing it's muscles? i live just next door, so to speak.
well idk - is it just me or has every test launch they've done failed?
like, north korea's girlfriend would be getting a bit frustrated by now
one fell in the Sea of Japan...
Re: WWI, did you know that more people were killed by the great flu epidemic 1918-1919 than in the whole of WWI?
i don't mind being killed by someone face-to-face. but to die because some little twerp miles away decided to stick his grotty finger on a button...
yes but the flu is the flu - it's not nearly so bad as what those soldiers went through in the trenches
was it wwi with mustard gas?
the thing that gets me is how they'll use the word "armageddon" to describe it, and i feel like, ugh, why was that NOT armageddon. it was horrible enough that it really should have been the end of the world. yes, mustard gas...
yes. WWI did have the mustard gas/
hurshy, i hear you honey. man's inhumanity to man. makes me feel utterly miserable to contemplate it.
constant lice, living in 2 ft deep mud, trenchfoot, body parts strewn everywhere, men marching into suicidal missions because the staff workers were idiots, lack of sleep, terror of constant shelling, talking to someone and suddenly their head is blown off mid-sentence...
Back then, the flu wasn't "just the flu" They didn't have any way to treat it. Between 1918 & 1919 between 20 & 50 million people died of he flu that 1 year.
ALL AT ONCE
i wonder if women could do a better job.
i would die of the spanish flu fifty times over before i'd set foot anywhere near a WWI battle area
YES. WOMEN WOULDN'T HAVE WARS.
depends on the women
(Sorry about the caps)
hurshy you just said that so well
i haven't watched myself, but i hear those desperate housewives can be rather catty
hershey, do you think women would start wars if women pulled most country?
i am very proud to say i have never seen a single episode.
me either
i don't know. i mean, i know plenty of men who i don't think would start wars, but it seems like politics inevitably leads to the worst people coming to power
can you imagine the men if/when the women of the world said... that's it... you can all go back home to your mother
I'm sorry; I'm trying to type with just 1 hand; it's not going well
you are doing very well Nef
yeah i wouldn't have guessed, nef :)
and the mothers would greet them at the front door, rolling pin in hand, and say... you are not coming in here.

hope it works for you Nef. i had one in my left hip and it has been fantastic.
ann coulter would start wars left and right
There is an African nation where the women were beaten & raped but weren't killed; & they finally got their courage up and voted in a womanpresident & women representatives; & the wars stopped
bbl. lovely to see you hurshy and nef. xoxox
well, yeah, in a society where you don't have a lot of spoiled/privileged women, i definitely see that working a lot better
(that was "into my" left...) Spell check isn't so helpful sometimes
Hiya kiddos. Spending the night with a friend and she has gone to bed. Hmmm ... what can I do for a bit :-)
Hi ori. Unfortunately, I'm getting very tired now & need to go to bed.
Have you heard anything yet???
Hi Nef! Probably not long for the grid myself.
Nothing yet - insert sad face here. But, you never know.
what are you waiting to hear about?
Confidence, ori! Believe in yourself
Whether I got a job I interviewed for. A job I really want!
oh i'm job hunting too - only trouble is, i think i'm probably going to get an offer that's like, good enough, but, not what i really want, and maybe have to decide before i know about other possibilities
Thanks Nef! I am trying to do so.
38 for tomorrow, falling asleep, good night all
Okay,,,, Good night now & good luck!
Nighters Nef
I really think one of the things I battle with hurshy is my age. Age discrimination is, of course, illegal. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

We're fine. All's good here.

Ty Ruby :) Good morning all.
Isnt that the same thing ruby?
Bello Sukee et al
Bella Sukeee* or hello*
Touché Ru, pretty much the same thing : D
How is your weather Ruby? Rain, rain, rain here.
Wow, rain everywhere. We had torrential rain yesterday and more to come this weekend.
Same here, threat of flooding in some areas.
Yesterday was warm and sunny and I bought plants for the deck but today is pouring rain AGAINB and the boy didn't make a decent fire
Howevr, it could be worse!!
We got the most rain than we have gotten in a long time 1.41"
What kind of plants did you buy?
Since I can't use the potager any more, I bought plantts for the deck, not for the borders: many tomatoes, 2 squash, kalinchoe, more big geraniums
That is what I have on my patio. Vegetables, flowers and herbs.
The house and deck and parts of the garden are full of flowers, but the scent of last week's white lilies is rather overwhelming
Since I don't cook any more, I've stopped planting herbs but there is still Rosemary, lemon thyme (for its flowers) and mint
Take care all, time for breakfast.
Hmm; lemon thyme almost rhymes with clementine; I think a poem lurks in there someplace
Bye Sukee
What vegetables, Molly?
Just tomatoes and bell peppers. No room for anything that takes up more space than those. It's my dream to someday have a real garden that grows in the ground, instead of containers.
Better yet, an indoor greenhouse that I can garden in all year long.
Sounds like my dream Molly. 25 years ago we lived in a house which had room for a large garden. I tried everything except Brussel sprouts
I had a lovely vegetable garden the first several years, but it's impossible for me now; the rest of the garden is lovely, though, this year there arre new green and pink tulips and lots of allium. Iiris soon
I have been to the garden of all gardens at Giverny
We were blown over
Ruby, I wonder if you could get someone to build you raised beds on your deck.
That's an i teresting idea, but would be too ambitious with my limitations. Now, it's verdant, will be productive, but is still rooimy enough to eat outside or just sit and admire th view.
Since it's only me and the dogs, and they don't eat vegetables (except brocolli, don 't ask lol)p, tomaties and squash will be enough.
You feed your dogs broccoli? Damn, dog farts are bad enough when they just eat dog food. : D
Marco will only eat red pepper. He used to eat carrots and green bean, but then Polo left. He's been in a funk since.
And there is still lots of fruit down below and I'll have people to help me pick.
When Spritte was here, she picked red currants for me
He offsets the cloying scet of the lilies with his own generous miasma!
Spritte?
Srite*
Sprite*
Is that a dog or a person?
Rose's friend
Rose?
I guess you comeinto Babble after they have left
I love glancing over to the chat!
I started about 10 years ago
Ruby, why don't you cook any more? Choice or health?
They are here too early for you, but I overlap
Did they live with you?
They are here for about 2 hrs from your 3 AM 'til 5, eveery day
ok
Bichon, seriously? You have been here 10 years and never seen Sprite or Grannyrose in the chat?
Hello Sally. Meals are delivered 6 days (lunch only) and with husband gone and no more parties, it's too much effort beyond cooking for the dogs
Hahah, Molly, maybe you could explain LOL!!
Oh, doh. I thought they picked courants at Ruby's house. Totally misunderstood
OK, sounds luxurious to me.
Sprite visited several years ago duri ng red currant season and helped me out
It is, Sally, shabby but lovely
Really misread that
And the housekeeper cuts up th dogs' chicken
That was nice, to have a real visit. Was it your first meeting with a fellow babbler? I've never met any in RL.
morning all
Yes it was, but she and Rose are visiting in June.
I almost met Peri and Anniebrook [rip]
Where do they live? I also almost met FMitch, also (rip)
I have a friend in Lexulous who visis periodically when she and her husband are en route to Italy.
I don't play Lexulous, just Words with Friends. There aren't enough hours in the day...
Sprite is Dutch and Rose is in Australia ansd is doing her Grand Tour of Europe
Her first
Yes, I remember Sprite being Dutch. Not so far for her then.
My lex friend lives in the UK and used to have a house in the Dordogne, but now she and her husband ravel in their camper
Lol, that's better than unravelling!
LOL
It I travelled in a camping-car, I would unravel!
That is not my idea of traveling either Ruby. Too cramped. Give me a five star hotel any day.
With hot and cold running servants...
I'd shoot myself!
I'm used to roughing it, but I really enjoyed having a river cruise. So luxurious for me
I know a family of four who went on a long trip in a Winnebago and came back swearing they would never do it again.
I'm too old to "rough it" (not that I did it even in my "salad days"
We went on a 5 week camping trip with the kids. There were some tense moments
I think they made a movie about that family! Lucky they didn't have any weapons!
Unairconditioned car, sweltering heat, kids fighting in the back seat. But we did go to some fabulous places.
<-- not Worth it for me. Fortunately, I did a huge amount of biz travel and romantic trips with my husband (RIP, too) but that was enough
If I could travel, I would probably go back to Japan or to London to visit family, but it's too late for me
good morning all.
It sounds like you did quite a bit of interesting travel Ruby. I'm glad you got the chance to do that.
why is it too late for you, ruby?
I have not done enough traveling
All I want to do is travel to a nice house by a lake and live there for the rest of my days.
We've done a fair bit, even to Australia some years ago, but prefer to be at home now.. We quite like to do long train journeys and have done quite a few European ones that way, including Venice a couple of times. Getting too old and creaky now!
Could anyone give me a clue for the first ka? The ka 4/9. I have the others.
It is the Greek letter without the double consonant
Ah, ty. Had the double consonant.
Morning, y'all!
Morning!
morning sally, and all my dear friends
morning!
good morning chris
hello all
easy getting to nbt today, pretty happy about that. I always try to get nbt in the least possible amount of words before I let myself chat. A silly thing, I suppose, but it's how I babble
I usually try to get half way.
third column w?
Mind you, I only try to get half way on a suitably sized grid, not one of those enormous ones!
wy 4/10 and pt....
hi pen ty
Ty! Two more words.
yw...
I assume the 4th column p Is ps?
no...
pe 4/5...

trif I have to at least work on a grid some
sh8?

Would hate to be without a cat or two.

Congrats flosey.
I do like cats, but have learned to not, sort of....the allergy is SO real
I've really had enough of the P Words. I mean, a joke's a joke and all that...

They just go on and on and on.
I am back.. working on the sh 8 and the 9/10

I found ka4/10 and plural

i remembered it from earlier
any clues needed?
pr7/8 combo, please?
Yes, please, pa5-20? Thanks
hi scrab
Hello folks.
change the second vowel in a type of bottled gas - then pt for 8
gapeach when a cat touches you you might call them a pa***
PA 5 - small animal that likes to put his little feet all over you
not understanding the pr 7/8 combo clue?
I finally got it. I had to think of gas in a bottle.
Change the seond vowel in the gas u use for your grill, and then past tense, mlfan.
think of rural homes that don't have regular gas lines to service them - large tanks in back of house provide gas for use in houe
ty eleios
Thanks much MLFA17.
yw gapeach
I need a clue for the9/10 pls?
Thanks to wvteach also.

A body type. Not ecto-mo5
ty scrab
It's too late to be giving tricky, clever clues, ok?
I still can't get the pr7/8
fit a type of gas but change the second vowel
starts with pr 4/6
what is a tricky clever clue mean scrab?
Well, my clue was rather easy and straightforward.
scrab I had been given a clue before along with some others but when you put the ecto part I finally got it
sorry, I already had the pr combo. It's the pa7/8 I can't get.
fit1--some planes are pr4 planes. Then add the number before two. = pr7. Then past tense for pr8.
pa 6/7 fit
pa6/7 = indented portion of an essay but removed gra in that word
Yeah, I didn't get that one either, fit.
ty scrab

Thanks scrabbler. I got the pa7 from your clue. Now on to the 8
I still have 73 to go
fit which 8 are you looking for?
I don't have any of the o's or w's from the middle of the grid....
pa 8, MLFANI7

Wearing shoes, nan
