hi flosey! *hug* How was your day?
has been a good one Sprite, thanks, son and family here for 2 weeks - grandson just finished his first year at U
they live in Toronto so don't see them often - do chat lots on phone and email, etc
great to have them with you for a while :)
really enjoying their time here
my daughter was here for a short visit yesterday. I know the feeling. So good to have real life hugs and to see her without it being on a screen.
for sure

wow, sorry folks, it wouldn't send so kept trying!!!
not so very far, compared to where you guys live. Very far for dutch people. She lives at the other end of our country. It is a 3,5 hours drive.
nice to be so much closer
here we have a long and expensive flight!
I always tell dutch people, when they complain about distances in our country: Aussie people would call this 'local'!
yes, I guess they would
and american folks too. The Netherlands are incredibly small compared to your countries.
texas is ridiculously huge
hi there blah
hi sprite!
i'm not usually here this time of night but I have kiddo birthday induced insomnia...too much carbs/sugar, not enough wine lol
hi guys. Perth to Kunnurra (within WA) is the same distance as Perth to Sydney
Texas is 18.6 times bigger than the netherlands :D
*hugs sandy*
wow!
hi sandy
I used to live in NY state and I thought that was pretty big, but nothing compared to here
sweet little girl you have there sandy
She is
How are you Flosey
good thanks Sandy, enjoying son & family here for 2 weeks
Where are they from?
from Toronto, so don't see them very often
odd te8
We have the son in laws parents (from Hartfordshire) over to visit the grandchildren but they are staying at my mother's house in Perth and mum is staying with us on the farm (to stop her slaving over them )
yes true sprite
I like family visits
it is a grass. Lol, sounds like a dangerous drink to me.
from which T sprite?
hello all
smart move, sandy, and so very nice of you all to protect your mum like that
kind of like absynthe? :D
I have no 8's and only one 7
from the T on the second row, peri, and hi
ah, me too Sandy, distance too great between BC and Ontario
yes blah :)
the other 8s are all normal words.
peri there is an en8 with a similar in8

Mum is 90 and very fit and with it , so it is the only way

I have 2 en words, both normal ones. Probably still missing the odd ones then
ah good point sprite, not really a pl :P
looks like one though, blah ;)
en and in - think putting a sharp knife away safely
I have only one en word, so maybe i dont have the normal ones

ah, just found a nice run, now down to 73
yay flosey
ty - is that Chicago I see there?
no, can't be, but does resemble at first sight - we don't see such tall buildings out here
down to 40, hopefully will finish tomorrow
just can't stop! now down to 30 - but must stop
down to 30 to go, they'll have to wait for tomorrow, good night all
Good mornign, babble world!
It's nearly 4AM and I've had no sleep for the third night in a row because my dog is ill. So I'll concede that it's morning but I won't go any further. *grump*
I'm so sorry, Sam, can you do anything to help him? Is he too big to be in bed?
h
She's had diarrhea for three days. I've started her on lopermide but she ain't getting into my bed!!! LOL
Loperamide*
Oh no! White meat chicken and rice! I've been through that with my big, but delicate, <Rufie
Right now it's just rice. In the morning I'll hit a grocery store and get some probiotics. On Monday I'll take her to an actual veterinarian.
Yoghurt?
Possibly? I really don't know what the point of the probiotics is because she just can't eat right now anyway; the few times she's tried she's vomited.
Since Rufie's disgusting bout, he gets a dish of Greek yoghurt every evening next to his chicken abd rice.
No more table scraps
He has long fur and it was a worrying catastrophe
Yeah. We're nearing the end of the dog food bag; we had another, but it's unopened. It's getting returned and her diet is changing.
And oh, yes, she's a shaggy mutt too. Long "feathers" on her legs. So that's fun.
. . .In fact, she looks very much like the dog in your photo!
and little poop stins every place....
What breed?
Yes! And she's old with arthritis so her posture in the "crouch" position isn't the best, and, well. You clearly understand what my weekend's been like.
No one knows what breed. She was found as a stray. She looks just like a Newfoundland, actually, except that she's never topped 40 lbs.
Rufe weighs about 35 KG and is stubborn, so cleaning his bottom is impossible
She's old and oblivious and will just lay down whenever she's unhappy. She hates being bathed (getting wet, ever) and has severe arthritis so I can't just push her into position.
Honestly I think she's nearing the end of her happy period in life. Unfortunately, she may live several more years.
Rufie is my favorite of all my chows and it breaks my heart when he's sick
How many do you have?
Since 1990, I've had 7, but 3 of them died prematurely, so now I have 2 at a time.
That's dedication to a breed!
Do you do rescue work, or get them as pups?
They are great guard dogs but are tender and lovely
Unfortubately, I don't like any other dogs (no, I love dogs, but they're my aesthetic and personality choice).
I'd be at a loss without them
They truly are wonderful animals. They're a great size, their fur is so lovely and fluffy, and they are so very loyal.
What's your dog's name?
Tilly. That wasn't our choice, she came to us that way.
She was found wandering as a stray, turned into a local shelter where they named her Bella and advertised her as a border collie(!!!), and picked up from there by a rescue group who named her Tilly and advertised her as a Newfoundland(!!!!!!)
Since my husband died, he's totally different, more affectionate, more protective and even more playful. The girl, on the other hand, is likfe a huge cat -- independent, well-behave, but only affectionate when she's "in the mood"
Oh, love, that's wonderful!
Tilly! That's very sweet. Bella and Maax are the 2 most popular dog names
I'm very fortunate!
Our other dog (he died a year ago, of a brain tumor) came to us named Bubba.
Great name!
We decided that you can't outright change an adult dog's name, but we did rechristen him "Bubba Ho-Tep" to help convince people that we have at least a modicum of cool.
My husband's Chicago family is already too worried that he's gone native down here in texas. Getting a dog named Bubba had them considering an intervention.
I think that even though they respond to specific words, it's the tone that they understand
hahah
Chows aren't the smartest but they're handsome and great dancers
I didn't even realize until Bubba was gone that Tilly has never answered to her name.
te7, please the first one?
She is just insanely jealous of other dogs getting my attention, so when she heard me call "Bubba! Tilly!" she came running to get to me before he did.
My first te7 is slang for athletic shoes.
Rufe (Ruffino) responds to my voice, no matter what I call him
thanks
And Raffie (Rafaella) just looks around unless there's food on offer
Hah! Yes, that was/is exactly the dynamic with my male and female dog.
non-dog lovers must hate this!
Butwe love our dogs!
Non-dog lovers can *bleeep* *bleeeeep* *bleeep* the *bleep* and then *bleep* my *bleepbleepbleep*
. . . Um, OK, that was a little over the top. Forgive me; I've had eight hour's sleep in three days.
Because I'm staying up with my dog.
Or as Bette Midler once said on TV when she had a wardrobe malfunction "Bleep 'em, if they can't take a joke!"
te8, please?
My sweet, loving, dumb-as-a-rock dog.
I love how Marc's just ignoring us completely. That takes skill, and I'm impressed. LOL
Sweet is more important tha smart!
te8 is really hard to clue. Give me a minute to type something out.
Bravo Marc
te8 -- surely you jest!
I apologize how am I ignoring everyone?
No no, Marc, dog talk can be annoying; I'm sorry
te + vowel + West African dance. Or: te + vowel + famous alcoholic drink that starts with ab, but lose the h: ab****h*
I meant that you're not letting our chatter distract you. You're not being rude, you're focused, and it's more than I can manage today, so I'm envious. You're good. My clues, on the other hand, are shaky.
Sorry I have nothing to add to the dog conversation. I am neutral on dogs.
brilliant clue
<-- talk about dumb-as-a-rock!
te + vowel + crime against God + ends the way it starts
Hello Molly
teoouroboros
. . . ok, that wasn't as funny on paper as it was in my head
got it
Funnier than dog farts which are being shared in a miasma, overpowering even the cloying lilies
Awww, ruby, you say the sweetest things!
Sorry, TMI
No, that was beautiful. As my husband would say "how prosaic of you!" but that's only because he can never remember the difference between prosaic and poetic; he means well.
He's making me sick, worse than the lilies
I hope he's a good dancer!
No. And even if he were, we wouldn't really be able to dance together; he's shorter by enough than I am that we don't really match up vertically.
I'm so short that the only fellow shorter than I was Paul Simon when we were in school together
He cooks, though. And bakes, in order to relax. And hsi job has been kinda stressful lately. So I'm gaining weight . . .
He could dance with me, but nobody el** until he got famous
My husband is shorter than Paul Simon. A little under Carrie Fisher, for that matter. And when I think of Paul Simon and dancing, I never envision him on the floor. He's on stage, where he belongs. LOL
Can he sing? And cooking! Send him over here
No singing. He's not tall, not a good dancer. He's just . . . kind. And he loves me 'bout as much as I love him. So I think it's a match. :)
Ruby hubby cleaned the filter box on our pond bonnie ate it I don't think anything would cover the smell
Sounds very good to me!
Rufie could! Or atleast hed try
Oh my goodness TQ!
Sunday is the day to count our blessings!
You can't imagine how bad it was
I Wonder if that's the same Bonnie who is married to my first husband..
Possibly,did she smell bad?
It is too cold to open all the Windows, but >I need a gas mask!
It is probably my fauit because I gave some stinky Fr cheese to th dogs as their midnight snack
OK, it's time for me to go give Tilly her quarter cup of rice, and then deal with the consequences. Thanks for keeping me entertained; I'll see you later.
Bye Sam
Hope she's better soon Samantha
Good luck with Tilly!

Hello all! Can I have a clue for the firs te7/28 word please
asparagus, asparagus, just put it on the table asparagus, asparagus, will make you feel more able!
sorry min, that's not a clue, just a song
i think the first one is the shoes that are named after a certain racquet sport
but, i still need 6 more t's, so there could be another one that i do not have yet.
asparagus, asparagus grows where it is sunny.. asparagus, asparagus makes your pee smell funny
that is NOT part of the song, lol
hi miver
minver
the first te 7 is named after sneakers
Never mind! I just found the first te7/28 word. Thank you!
Hello rururocks! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
i'm fine min.. except for having to work tonight
ok so that is the one i meant too, cool
Work on a Sunday night? What do you have to do rururocks
a wine seminar at one of my accounts for 44 of his customers
Thank U for te7/28 clue. Can I have clue for last one also
"work"
how much weight something like a rope can hold up is its te7 strength
te7 the last one relates to steel strength
oh does it have to be steel?
Will everybody be drinking wine there including yourself? It might not be bad if you can to have a few glasses of wine.
mostly a tasting of 15 different wines from around the world
I think so hursh
Thank you for my te7/28 clue. Trodding along with the T's
i'll taste but mostly I spit it out
we are tentatively trying to totter along with you Minver :D
I have to admit I DO NOT drink any wine myself.I think it is an acquired taste and I have never acquired it.Really don't drink any alcohol for that metter. Just buzz away from it.
I think you have good reasons NOT to drink wine minver
i respect that.. coming from being a child of alcoholics
Rururocks, my parents are not alcoholics. My in-laws were.
My grandma was a raging alcoholic, but fortunately she did not pass that gene on to her children. No alcohol problems in my immediate family. Everybody drinks it moderately.
I am the only one person in my family who does not drink.
doesn't your ex have a drinking problem?
I'm always careful around alcohol consumption.. but that's just me.. I'm not a big drinker
Yes, he is an alcoholic. However, he quit when he became sick last year.Guess better late than never to quit drinking
same with my brother.. stopped when he absolutely had to
If he hadn't gotten ill, he would stlll drinking his life away.
yep.. .. that's usually how it goes
have you sold your house yet MInver? I hope that goes well for you
Ex has now announced he does not want to sell the house and will do anything he can to keep it.He is such as A-hole
i have he8, any help with any of the other 8s ?
Had a four-way meeting with lawyers this week&it did not go well. He says we will have to settle the house in court. I was trying to avoid going to court. Was last thing I wanted
can he do that?
in8 and en8 to enshroud
The en 8/50 word is en plus sword holder (sh 6/24) hurshy
court is / should be a last resort.. he does sound like an asshole
ah thanks
The in 8/50 word is en plus sword holder (sh 6/24) hurshy.
he can drag it out but eventually will have to buy you out or sell.
yeah.. and then the lawyers get a big piece of that pie
and the results will remain the same.... some guys are just too dumb for words
te8/40: te + vowel plus transgression plus 1st letters again
they get their fee. unless it's the war of the roses, which few divorces are.
divorce is expensive .. even if you're cooperating
it's not like in the movies or tv, unless the spouse is a high earner
lawyers get theirs no matter what. risky to do it without one.
i gave more than half to my ex to make sure she was ok
that's true.. one shouldn't do it without an attornet
attorney
once they have another, the greed really takes hold, especially if the other has ilittle or nothing
I do not make a lot of money, but I am the bread winner of the house or the "monied" spouse speaking in legalise.
i hope it is over soon for you minver
yes, you need protection. same here, but even so, it never goes evenly. that takes a lot of legal time and rarely worth it
it seemed like forever to resolve stuff to me
I have no problem with hubby keeping house, but he does not have the money to buy me out. He doesn't even work!
then you need your share. no time for sentiment, sentiment won't pay your bills.
so how does that dummy think he's going to get a loan and buy you out?
Geesh, Min. I hope it all works out for you.
Hi 72 Temple Owl!How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Hello origami! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid.
he can drag it out. even then the divorce is graned without a property settlement, so no $ for min
He hopes to get a job soon. He's been going on interviews.
fine but he won't get a mortgage unless he is a vet
If he does not get a job, he hopes the maintenance he will be getting from me will pay for his mortgage. We shall see
(agrees with TO)
Hi Min. I'm doing OK. Have been in and out of the grid for while.
i wish you the best, min, you deserve a chance to be happy again.
(waiting for the chicken to be done for the petsitters)
can someone give stats for the one A pls
You feed chicken to the petsitters?
Thanks TO.Hopefully there'll be light at end of the tunnel.
aa4 ori
i make them dinner yes
we agreed to keep our pensions, and as soon as i kicked him out i stashed a small amount with my father.
Thanks ru
Are your pet-sitters coming while you go to work tonight?
yes.. they show up about 6
very little, though, laughably little. he too things he was not entitled to but with the retirements freed it worked out ok.
they're getting roasted honey/oregano/lemon chicken breasts with braised chard and asparagus with balsalmic tomatoes and garlic
nice when it works out TO.. good for you
who would want to support an ex for the rest of one's life, absent children and an mutual parting?
the lawyer said why argue over $15k, eyes on the real money issues.
Sounds yummy ru
Husband will not get my pension, but he will use what he is entitled to toward amount he needs to buy me out,I think.
think hard about that one... i bought him out but it turned out to be a bad move.
thanks for all the 8 clues! what about 7s ? i have he, ta, te x2
How many pets do they have to take care of. Hell, I would watch your pets for free if it included a delicious meal.
make that ta x2 also, just one missing
must run, would love to see you min, but meetups are a thing of the past.
just one dog minver.. he's high maintenance
Not necessarily 72 Temple Owl.Jmcnrick is still meeting up with people. You live in PA, maybe we can meet halfway.
I'm doing a meet up in July on Vancouver Island
I'm meeting up with Crayola soon
Bye 72 Temple Owl. Nice chatting with you.See ya later on
we had fun that time. but they are a thing of the past for me.
where does Crayola live?
why is that TO?
Sac
oh really?
that's cool
life changes, no longer isolated, in contact with those near me whenever i want
It is easier to meetup with babblers when they live in same city as you. I don't think there babblers who live near me.
those sound like good changes, TO!
yes they are. life is change, who knows?
he7, ta7 x2, te7 x2, can anyone tell me what my missing 7 is?
li7 hursh
but i did enjoy meeting those whom i did meet, even if just from a curiosity standpoint.
I've really enjoyed meeting the players i have
some are now good friends to me
I really need to get out and start socializing more.I am not sure what groups I can join locally. I am just so anti-social!
lol
one word: meetup google it.
that's so ironic
that makes it a little challenging minver
meetup. purely social or interest based groups.
i never would have guess that, minver, after all these years of seeing you welcome people to the grid - i thought you were the total hosting/hospitality type
I'm just so serious in person
:D
i think i'm boring in person, until i reach a point of being comfortable with someone
bye min
Only socializing I do in person is when I go to the dog park
do try meetup. there are groups who get together with their dogs to walk on sundays do it.
i think i may need a clue for that li7
having a dog to walk is a great icebreaker.
Don't get together with any of those people outside of the dog park though. However, really nice people do go to DP
you can join a hiking group or take cooking classes like i did minver
it's a great way to meet people
see?
https://www.meetup.com/ all the work is done for you. Began to get people a way to connect after 9/11
Maybe after my divorce is finalized I'll look into more.I am spending all my money on attorney fees & court fees. Who knows how long that will last. Happy just going to DP now
I'd better get going.. best of luck MInver.. i hope things settle down soon..
groups to walk. groups to travel. groups to dine o ut. groups to write and have your writing critiqued. you name it.
meetup.com is free
Thanks rururocks! Nice chatting with you today.Don't work too hard tonight. Hope to see you again tomorrow in chog
I know all about meetup.com. I think I am a member of it.
i hear that. there are ways to get out on little $, i was in that boat.
