12:18 am

8 for 40

12:29 am

I CANNOT believe it won't accept 'picante"!!!!!!!!!! Such a great word!!!

12:30 am

And so close to makeing 'cowpie' :)

12:31 am

found a 7 for 44

12:33 am

I have 2 7s, 36 & 28

12:53 am

7 for 32

270-ish words today.

5:33 am

Snerg really should be a word

5:48 am

there's a 7 for 48

My score 670 - you go for more, Ashy!

7:58 am

Ashy & Sini - tell me you don't have 670 WORDS.....I've only 137 for 1571.

8:02 am

No, there are "only" 270 words in this puzzle.

8:06 am

jlm_mi... oh yes - now I see an earlier post, showing that figure.... Lord! the thought of finding 670 words - I'm having the good old Victorian vapors. Up to 143 now, so perhaps I'll get a fair score today. Time for a cuppa.

8:06 am

I think if there were 670 words I'd run screaming the other direction, LOL! This takes up enough time as it is. :)

8:37 am

stats so far: 11xA 29xC 4xD 6xE 6xG 13xH 7xI 23xL 8xN 3xO 37xP 15xR 11xS 9xT 17xW 8: 40 (there are at least 3 more) 7: 28,36,36,36,28,44 (there are at least 7 more including a 32 and a 48, but I don't know where those 2 fit in the list above)

9:47 am

OK, I may be playing by myself here, but the 7-32 goes at the beginning of my list.

9:52 am

morning...see what damage i can do before i walk to starbucks for some java

9:53 am

Yep thats it at the beginning.

10:31 am

So, is everyone just so busy finding words they're not chatting, or is nobody here? :-D

10:36 am

Just finished finding 35 c`s and 4 more o`s to the 5 I already have.

10:45 am

i'm here, but so behind. Amazing what a workload will do to your playtime...

10:47 am

Yeah, parsec, work can really cut into babbling! :-p Karin - So, you have 9xO now? How about 7s?

Why isn't pict a word? :(

And cowpie keeps staring me in the face, daring me to type it.

10:58 am

wonder why sealion and seacow are not words

11:01 am

Yes I have 9 o`s now .

11:03 am

My o`s are : 1x7 , 2x6 , 4x5 , & 2x4 .

11:19 am

How many 8`s are we loking for ? I have two so far

11:23 am

Karin - Here's the confusing info on stats: The solver that uses the enable lexicon (which babble uses also) says there are 270 words. I can't get a further breakdown without looking at the word list, so I don't have one. The solver that uses a different lexicon says there are 4x8, 13x7, 41x6, 92x5, 118x4 but it also says there are only 268 words. So, how long those other 2 words are I can't say. They could just be 4s, or one or both could be a long word. So, I think it's safe to say that there are at least 4x8. I have 1 for 40 so far.

11:28 am

Haven't the Babble gods seen "The Princess Bride"??? I want it to take iocane!

11:32 am

i'm around..hehe..just had a mini crisis..went to get my java and realized i left my debit card at the olive garden...clearly too many breadsticks have muddled my brains!

Jlm, that's one of my favourite movies! I was disappointed when it wasn't a 'real' word too.

11:43 am

jlm_mi. Thanx for the info. I`m at 213/2694 .I`m going to take a break ,will be back later .

11:46 am

OK, I've found my way to 35xC and still looking for 3xO (5,5,6) but at 214/2544 I have 12xA 35xC 5xD 6xE 6xG 13xH 7xI 24xL 8xN 6xO 37xP 15xR 14xS 9xT 17xW 8-40 7s: 32,28,36,36,36,36,28,44

12:26 pm

OK, I have more stats. This is based on the 268 total word count, so there are 2 missing words somewhere. Words per starting letter: 16 4 15 9 4 20 7 22 8 0 11 6 15 3 1 3 40 9 22 0 8 41 3 1 0 18xA 40xC 8xD 8xE 9xG 16xH 10xI 1xJ 30xL 10xN 9xO 41xP 15xR 20xS 11xT 22xW

1:00 pm

Knowing that 8 L's start with the L in the bottom left leads to several words, including a couple 7's.

1:05 pm

Thanks, fnurt. I had 6 words there, but no 7s. Found 1 and that should help me find the other!

1:09 pm

For those who don't get it, if a word can be started in a couple different places, the chart gives credit to the FIRST letter than can possibly start it, reading left to right, top to bottom. So the 8 words that start with the bottom L cannot possibly be started with the other L.

1:20 pm

if it takes 'orcs' (in past grids) why won't it take 'ents'?

1:28 pm

Tolinya - guess I was wrong about that G. I have not found anything with it yet...

1:35 pm

I laugh everytime I see 'iocane,' 'cause I bet one of these days, it'll work its way into the English lexicon. Let's see, as "a non-exsistent, oderless, tasteless, highly lethal powered poison from the movie, The Princess Bride."

1:39 pm

LOL - It sounds like such a real thing!

1:44 pm

It never takes ents. I've tried in every puzzle I found the word. Obviously not LOTR fans.

1:55 pm

ok - but what are 'orcs' if not LOTR creatures?

1:56 pm

From http://www.infoplease.com/dictionary/orc "Any of several cetaceans"

2:00 pm

did Tolkien get orcs from there, or did the dictionary take it from Tolkien? ;)

2:06 pm

We-who! Got my first seven for 28 :)

2:12 pm

Does anyone have a hint for the 7-48 or any of the 8s? The 8-40 I have is a plural of a 7-28 and shines.

2:27 pm

the one 7 for 28 I have starts with r - no plural - so there are more 7 for 28's?

2:35 pm

I've 6 l words starting from the bottom, but cannot see any 7 letter ones. Are they common words ?

2:39 pm

the one I have is pretty common

2:44 pm

Stuck at 124 for 1357, with three 7's and one 8.

2:45 pm

What kind of puzzle is this that it wont accept rentacow?

2:46 pm

any clues for the 7 leading to an 8? Pleeeease?

2:47 pm

LOL Mal! rentacow: for your personal supply of early morning milk

2:49 pm

what does the shiny word begin with, and any clues for the l 7s please ?

2:51 pm

Hi playful - our milkman doesn't call in our apartment block anymore - so

2:51 pm

why won't it take sealion ?

2:52 pm

exactly Mal - straight back to the source. no messing for us!

2:52 pm

dimwit - it begins with an l

Got an eight, nine, and ten with a little help from a2zwordfinder! Starts with d.

3:04 pm

every time i come back i want to type 'placard,' when the R is just not in the right place. Argh!

3:05 pm

the 7 beginning with 'L' I've just found could come from rentacow...

3:09 pm

The 2 L words that are 7 letters that come from the lower left are not common words, but they only differ from each other by one letter. The 7s I have so far, in alphabetical order, are: 32,28,36,36,36,36,36,36,28,44 There is a 7 for 48 that I can't find yet.

3:11 pm

RFH - How many points for the 8/9/10?

3:13 pm

Thanks playful an Jlm_mi, I have both now.

3:19 pm

I'm stopping for today. Not having found any of the real goodies I may not sleep sound tonight. But then rentacow will cheer me up in the morning no doubt.. ;) Night all!

3:32 pm

Christine you have EMail

3:53 pm

55/72/91

4:07 pm

I`ve just found an 8/55 and have two more : 8/65 , 8/40.

4:11 pm

From the 8 I just found I got a 9/72.

4:13 pm

What letter does the 9 for 72 start with. Please

4:37 pm

That 9/72 has just made a 10/91.

Any clues for the 8/9/10?

4:46 pm

Clue for the 9/72: It`s the lenth of time an ordained minister`s is in office.

5:02 pm

jlm_mi. I`ve just found the 7/48. It comes before the 7/28 & 7/44.

5:04 pm

Thanks Karin for the 7/48 placement, as well as for the clues for the longer words. I may not get much more in, but I'll focus there when I can play. :)

5:06 pm

the 7 / 48 is a type of fish scale LOL

5:11 pm

jlm_mi. Just got another 2x 7 so thats wrong .In reverse 7/44, 7/28 , 7/36 ,/7/28 ,7/48 ..........................

6:18 pm

Karin, what does the 8 for 55 start with please?

6:34 pm

Have you found those d`s yet ?

6:35 pm

No, need help please :)

6:36 pm

if you get the 8 you can get the 9 & 10.

6:36 pm

I did find the D's, thank you!

6:36 pm

The minister clue is not helping me.

6:37 pm

peri - a clue and the point values were given below. Karin - So, your 7s go like this? 32,28,36,36,36,36,36,36,48,28,36,28,44

6:37 pm

May I have a clue for the 8 please.

6:37 pm

They are all d`s

6:38 pm

I don't think there's really any better clue to give. It doesn't have another meaning, or sound like anything else . . .

6:43 pm

marigold, have you found the 8,9 and 10 that start with D?

6:45 pm

Any chance of telling us what the second letter for the 8,9,10 is ? Pleeeeese ?

6:48 pm

Found the 8 for 55 that starts with D but using Google and looking at lots of sites. Now for the 9 and 10 :)

6:48 pm

dimwit: i (eye)

6:49 pm

should have read: by using Google

6:49 pm

The 8 h is a word I`ve not heard of before . I was just messing about with the letters ,then came up with the h 6/33 first .

6:50 pm

Great help for the 8H Karin - Had the 6/33 and just added 2 letters! Any chance you can confirm the order of the 7s below?

6:51 pm

Found the 9 and the 10 that start with D, yea for me. Thanks for the help

6:57 pm

jlm_mi. I`ve not got all the 7`s yet but your tally has helped thanx .3 more to get.

6:59 pm

I've got the biggies ! yay ! :D

6:59 pm

Thanks all !

7:07 pm

I've only managed 2 Os so far, a 5 for 10 and a 4 for 6. Can anyone tell me the values for the others please ?

7:50 pm

dimwit - someone (can't remember who now, maybe karin) gave the values for all the Os this morning.

8:03 pm

marigold, I only have 139, I will keep looking for a little while longer.

8:06 pm

I only found numbers of letters, not points for the Os. I've tried loads of combos, but not got very far, that's why I wanted the next level of help, the points for each one, to give me a clue as to where I might be going wrong....

8:42 pm

Anyone about before I give up and log out ?

8:43 pm

I'm still here.

8:46 pm

Oh hi periwinkle. I now have a grand total of 3 Os and 3 Is, well stuck, any clues for the others please?

8:48 pm

I have 3 o's and 5 i's.

8:56 pm

4 for 6 and 5 for 14, same stem, and a 4 for 4 i's can you help with the other 2 you have ?

8:58 pm

another word for idol

9:00 pm

I have one word for idol and its plural, is there another then ?

9:01 pm

nope

9:01 pm

4 for5 and a 5 for 12. A word for when you are not busy.

9:02 pm

you must have something else then which I don't. Any clues ? I'm trying to get to 130 words before I have to call it a night !

9:04 pm

Brill, thanks, got them. That actually gives you a third one, another 5 for 12, different end letter.

9:06 pm

thanks, missed that last one

9:08 pm

do you have the same o's as me ? grease, jewel, single ?

9:10 pm

I didn't have the jewel, thanks. My word means: begining

9:12 pm

Oh, Marianne - 'rentacow' - you silly little thing.

9:17 pm

Thanks, periwinkle

9:18 pm

you're welcome

9:30 pm

Marianne - do you have the two 'fish scales' words?

9:49 pm

periwinkle - did you find the D-biggies? Pehaps DEACON (rather than MINISTER) would be a better clue?

10:23 pm

I thought a deacon was a minister?
