Going to bed with 24 for 257. 6x9 5x2 4x13
You have six 9 letter words?? Good lord, how do you see that?
Oh wait. That doesn't make any sense. Nevermind
ummmm, what was that word again, multhermujer? teehee, that's great. :D
also have 9, and 1 7.
I have two sevens...
Oo, got a 7 for 40.
51 for 512. Lay-tah!
Got a 7 for 44. Still looking for the one worth 40...
found two 8's: 40 and 55. still can't find the two sevens though :(
8 for 55/7's for 40 & 32
toffee and effete are so close...
bunch if sixes but like always the longer words escape me until later.
too many of these words are from yesterdays puzzle.
You should soooo be able to get beetroot from this!
got some 7's & an 8. time for bed.
85/932. good night everyone.
there's a 7 for 32
I feel soooo lonely here today *sings to self* Where is everyone? LOL
I'm here! Just getting started. Anything good to share???
The Lone Ranger would be upset. It seems that Tonto isn't a word.
erm .... 2 8s, a very sticky 7 and a penguin LOL And a good few 7s I haven't got yet!
Stats: One solver says 149, the other says 150 (and is probably right). Counts: 10xB 6xE 19xF 19xG 13xN 6xO 27xR 15xS 33xT 1xU 5x8, 8x7, 31x6, 40x5, 65x4 The letter and length stats are based on 149 words, so there is one more word that I don't know where it goes. The 7s I've found so far are: 40,40,32,28,28
For this puzzle I also have words per starting location. The way this works is that, starting in the upper left and working left to right then top to bottom, the first letter that can be used to make a word gets the point if there are two possible ways to make the word. 6 19 3 4 2 10 1 18 9 1 4 2 1 24 0 10 6 0 0 1 0 11 0 15 1
112 / 4.79 / 1263 Doing better than I thought I would be!
I have 8's for 55 & 40 and 7's for 40,40,32,28,44,28,28.
Tonto happens to be a word in Espanol. It means stupid. Pretty insulting name for the Lone Ranger's sidekick, I always thought.
Oh sure. I learn a new word with my crossword puzzles last week. A really great four letter E word. Etui, a, "small, usually ornamental case for holding articles such as needles." And Babble won't accept it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eating my words. That's because 'etui' doesn't exist in the puzzle....
Very Tolkien-y today - Bree, Beor and Beorn :)
And don't forget ent, even though it's only 3 letters. :)
'morning, Judith and Marianne -- are you working together, against me?? You know the rules - the Big Sistah MUST be the winner. You had a good score, yesterday. Now, separate games, right now!
Has this dictionary never heard of tetse flies ? hmph! One of those LOTR words is accepted though....
They're tsetse flies. :)
That's because its spelled 'tsetse.' Bummer, that would have been a good word.
Ents don't count :P they're in *every* puzzle
True, but they're VERY cool. Maybe they're in every puzzle because it takes them sooooo long to get anywhere, they're still around.
nor will it take 'gorn' - good cockney word that - but I've not gorn off this puzzle yet (teehee)
If making friends with someone is befriending them, shouldn't you be able to make enemies with, or "befoe" someone? ;)
quite right, invent one immediately
Has anybody else found a really odd five letter word ending in F that does not appear at www.dictionary.com? I found it by accidentally adding an f to another word!!! I'd love to know what it means....
Well, I didn't have it. But after methodically going through my list and adding F to all my 4-letter words I found it. :) One definition I found is that it is Yiddish for thief.
And thank you! That was the last word I needed with that starting letter. :-D
Has anyone found any 8s besides the 55 and 40?
I have 5 8's. 3 are for 55, 2 are for 40 pts.
I've got 2 8's for 40. One of them needs a suffix added on to a 5 for 10, whilst the other is part of a 6, 6, 7, 8 run that comes from a 4 for 7.
where do all you people have the time to play this. i only manage to play once a month
when***
It's easy when you're an unemployed student in the summer. ;)
I have an 8 for 55 that starts with F. Any clues on the others?
fnurt - My 8/55 that starts with F is an odd word relating to a body part. I would not be surprised if all 3 start with F, but maybe not. Does that sound like yours?
Oh, and claws or anyone else, would you mind putting the point values for the 8s in alphabetical order for us? And the 7s if you have them. :-D
One of the 8 / 55 starts with E
OK, just found the second 8/55. It is only 1 letter different from the first one I found, and this word is much more common.
The E-55 comes from a 6 for 27.
Thank you - very helpful!
setting_sun - I think your 8/40 must come from a 6/6/7/8 combo that starts with a 4 for 4, or it can't make a 40 pointer. :) I have that one. Anyone care to share what the other 8/40 starts with, or a hint to its meaning? I don't think I have the right root 5 letter word yet.
Thanx for that got that 8 too .
I have an eight for forty that comes from a four for four, but I can only get one six out of it...
The other 6 adds a prefix rather than a suffix.
I ave E for 55 and F for 55 any clues for the other one.
Ah, thanks, jlm. Got it.
Treble99 - See my 3:06pm post.
The other 8/40 should sound very loud but it`s not .
Oooh - should have seen that earlier. If you know French, it may make you drool. :) Makes me want a nutella crepe!!!!
The 8`s are; 8/55, 8/55 .8/55 , 8/40 , 8/40.
jlm_mi - my mistake! Sorry for any confusion!
No problem! The confusion was only momentary, at least for me. LOL.
E-8 for 55 F-8 for 55 F-8 for 55 N-8 for 40 R-8 for 40 Hope that helps
still cant see the other 8 for 55
Treble99 - I'm guessing you're missing the superlative one. If not, think furniture.
still cant get it
got it thanks for help
Just logged back on no 8s yet:( Is the n one the stem 5 for 10 I have 2 similar) ?
dimwit - yes
I have the f/8/55 that has to do with lower extremities. May I have a clue for the other f/8/55, please? :)
I gave one to treble99 at 3:50pm.
only fete? not entres????
entrees - but alas, not in this puzzle. And here I am hungry.
does the f 8 furniture have the same stem as the other, and does it have a prefix or suffix please ?
fois?
tete?
OH it's ok i have it!
periwnkle.Keep with those lower extremities and change one letter.
I have one 7 for 40 beginning with an F -- what does the second 7 for 40 start with?
I have 3 e's, 5 fr10 ,4 fr5, 4 fr10 in that order. Where does the 8 for 55 come and how many letters is the 5th e ?
They've all gone away..............spooky!
I have all the eights except the n-40, which I'm totally stuck on.
dimwit - the e-8 is the first of the Es.
ooh other babblers (dances excitedly) would it be ef or en to begin then please? rfh - the n 8 is a fancy nutty sweet of some kind.
There is an E before the 8, unless I misunderstood you.
Thank you fnurt - you're right, I'm still missing one e.
en to start with
Lovely, have all the 8s now, thanks. One more e to find then on to the next letter ( I'm trying to be systematic for once...)
I gave you a good clue for the 8 /n at 3:39 .
How many letters is the first e ? no success with combos so far.
first e has 5 letters...I still am having no luck with the e8. :(
It must be tying you up in knots......(clue)
Found the n-8... and am now severely craving Nutella.
runningforhome, does the n/8 start with not?
Nope... Karin's clue should give you a good idea of what it starts with.
Karen's clue is not helping me. I will keep trying tho.
May I please have a clue for the e/8/55. I know it starts with en but I am having trouble finding the word. :(
marigold, I found the e/8/55.
marigold, check your word list you may have it already and not know it.
I am clueless...what is the 3rd letter of the e8?
f
do you have the 6 letter F word for 27 points? If so add a suffix to it.
I meant add a prefix to it.
Thank you so much!!! :)
your welcome
I meant you're welcome. I am tired.
Back for a last go at that first e, I reckoned the second letter must be e or i, but cannot get any combos to work. Any clues for its meaning please ? It is the first in the list and 5 letters.
it is a bird
Thanks, I missed that second letter at the top:)
Did you get the e8 in the end, mammajill ?
yes, thanks
Anyone know what the sticky 7 begins with ?
Ah, never mind, saw it as I posted the message!
Anyone want to help me out with the Os? I only have two.
i have a few, what values are yours?
4/4 and 5/10
I also have two 5s for 16 each
Thank you, I found them, and also a 4 for 5.
Great, and I now have that one too. I'm going now, nearly dawn and I reached my target. No way am I going to get the lot tonight, quite a hard grid.:)
Thanks to whoever gave the penguin clue -- set me to reading about the cute little critters...and the lower extremities (not toes) gave me a v.e.r.y odd word (no definition, but that gave me the word the rest of you have) taa=daa
