nbt, nbs and half way -- good night all
FWs
good morning all
good morning Sprite
good evening flosey *hug* Did you have a nice day today?
had a nasty migraine so spent first half of day in bed - gone now and will be going off island tomorrow - many errands and to buy my (belated) b'day gift from hubby
so, fingers crossed!!
so sorry to hear about your migraine. Glad it is over, though.l I wish you a lovely day off-island!
thanks Sprite - this is just a recent recurrence - have gone years without them
and yes, tomorrow will be a fun day
may they stay away again for years from now on
tytyty, it was such a surprise when they recurred after so many years without them
yeah I can imagine :(
and how has your day started? well I hope
very well. Had a good night's sleep, finished a translation job yesterday (only checking it over remains to do) and am feeling good.
wonderful
to do = to be done (I think)
well, you can plan to do something, or you can say it must be done - seems to me either/or
ah, thank you :)
new babble dictionary word: sucret - very sweet classified information
Hi and hugs, Sprite and Flosey. Hope you are both well.
*hugs Liz* I am very well, thanks. How are you and your beloved?
Also very well, thanks.
that is great to hear. How was your day?
Not happy with our lovely cockatoos though. They've dug up all our newly planted freesias :(
Quiet day today - admin stuff to do at home.
quiet is nice, admin not so much
Just back from the gym and have 5 mins to babble.
Important stuff though - like application for new passport etc.
should take you halfway ;)
yes thanks Liz, oh my!! those rascals!!
love freesias
It's such a shame, Flosey - we plant loads of flowers and they destroy so many but we also love feeding them, so we've created the problems.
they think you are feeding them, and are positively surprised by the change in diet
We grew these from bulbs and they were about 8 cm high now.
just about the right size and ripeness, or so the cuckatoos thought
Hopefully we've rescued most of them. Hubby saw one dropping a plant into the pool. Obviously thought it needed watering.
so helpful they are, too!
:)
oh Liz... my first bread was such a major, major failure!
Oh :( What went wrong?
not sure. Because I don't really know how it is supposed to look and feel in all stages yet. But I think, not enough risen, and not baked long enough. Something else: all recipes I have for the bread machine use sugar. But I don't see sugar in Hollywood's recipes. I thought the yeast needed sugar to feed on, but I guess not?
oh and I wondered... would you mind sharing one or two of your own bread recipes with me?
We make the his bloomer. Use room temperature water, not warm. Allow perhaps 2 hours to rise. We also find that the dough really spreads so we sort of tuck it under tight and reshape before it goes in the oven.
The main bread we make are Paul H's bloomer, a brown seeded loaf and challah. I can share the challah and the brown loaf. You have the white one!
awesome, will try the bloomer and see how that goes. Yes please for the other two!
It's really important to knead for a long time. It's ready when you can stretch it and see daylight through it.
I did both things... room temp water and 2 hours' rise
OK will do - time for me to go. Have a lovely day, Sprite. Flosey enjoy the rest of your evening and sleep well. Hugs.
okay! That is helpful too. I kneaded for 10 mins, and felt how the texture changed from sticky mud to elastic stuff. Think I should have kneaded a little longer though, because the first few minutes I was discovering how
*hugs Liz* have a lovely evening and a peaceful night, both of you
thanks Liz and and Sprite - 19 to go so hope to finish
let me know if you want any help :)
