my husband Easy,
the love of my life
and my best friend,
passed away Feb. 8, 2017
He was well-loved by many, considered them all his "family", and was a very special and unforgettable individual.
I still miss him every minute of every day.

Profound thoughts I like:
"It is impossible to enjoy idling thoroughly unless one has plenty of work to do."
(Jerome K. Jerome)

In much the same vein:
"There is nothing so absolutely bracing for the soul as the frequent turning of one's back on duties."
(Elizabeth von Arnim)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:
"WOO HOO what a ride!"

PHENOMENAL WOMAN
by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I love roses - that's my name! :)
I was called Rosebud by Hubby for years, but I shortened it to Rbud for a license plate
(and for entering into bartop games, tired of entering the whole name.)
It's pretty much stuck for Net purposes.
Hubby and I have an acre on the edge of a tiny town in Illinois, and the woods start just across the driveway. Our kids are 34 and 37, and they're still living here with us. Our daughter is pretty severely handicapped from MS, and requires help to do most anything that requires legs, so that keeps me somewhat busy, but it still leaves me a fair amount of time to play on the Net.
Some of my former occupations include: library director, dogcatcher, art gallery aide, taxicab owner/operator, train station attendant, tree planting crew for land reclamation projects, park ranger/naturalist, much landscaping, florist, greenhouse manager, apple picker, seamstress, cook, lots of computer jobs...oh, and nude life drawing class model, back when my parts were north instead of south like now, lol! ;p
When I'm not on the pc, I also sew, read, knit, and crochet.
Glad to have found Babble, I like games that keep my mind stimulated, and the company is the finest. :)
If I'm not here, I'm likely at http://www.nordinho.net/
or on Facebook. (rbud1957@outlook.com) <--- the gaming email address, lol! :)
Oh, and I use this for my image editing - resizing, cropping, easy, and free!
I love it, and there are even tutorial videos for it on YouTube.

Here's my mom's old family pumpkin pie recipe, I love it.
Very custardy.
The recipe is in Mom's words, mine are in ( )
1 c. sugar
(I often use brown sugar for part of the cup, it seems to make it more interesting, but you don't have to.)
2 eggs (beaten)
2 to 3 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
(really a bit too much, keep it on the 1&1/2 to 2 tsp side if you don't like it really spicy.)
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp melted oleo ( butter)
1 c. milk
1 c. sieved (mashed cooked, or about 1/2 a small 15 oz can) pumpkin
Combine sugar, spice, and salt with eggs and oleo, blend.
Add pumpkin and milk, mix.
Pour into un-baked pie shell. Bake at 450 deg. (F) about 15 minutes, then at 325 about 45 minutes, or until filling is firm (in the center but not sloppy. It may still jiggle just a bit in the middle, but that will set up as it cools.)

Notes on pie:
You may want to refrigerate it to help it stay firm if it will be a while before it's eaten, but generally, once it's cool, it's firm.
You get a feel for how done is done after a few tries. I always use thick glass or stoneware pans, so it cooks for a bit after you pull it out, too.
I do usually wrap skinny long pieces of foil around the edge to keep the crust from burning, or you could use those nifty piecrust protectors, but I've yet to acquire any myself.
Makes one pie, but I always double it to use the whole can - and have more pie, yummy!
Refrigerate uneaten pie.
The only time it wasn't great was the time I mistakenly used TABLESPOONS instead of teaspoons of spice, oops! Wondered why it looked so dark! ;p
