Hiya babble friends. A little late to start, but been on the road all day.

11:02 pm

Hi ori. What are you traveling for?

11:03 pm

Work, unfortunately :D

11:04 pm

How are you Nef?

11:06 pm

Is this the same job you've had; or a new one? I'm okay except for achy joints (I'm trying to put off hand surgery as long as possible;

11:08 pm

Same job. My assistant has had 3 surgeries on her hands in the last 3 years. She does feel a lot better. But, she had carpal tunnel and some sort of tendon problem. Maybe different from yours.

11:10 pm

Sorry for your achiness. I can relate ... my hip is killing me. I really should just lose some weight to make that better.

11:11 pm

Mine is arthritis; I've had the base of the right thumb "fixed" (it still swells & aches at times; but now it's some other joints in that hand & I'm getting steroid injections in the left (dominant) hand; but I know I'll need it before Christmas.

11:13 pm

Ouch! Rough on your dominant hand in particular. Will the surgery help? I know the steroid injections hurt.

11:14 pm

I have a single nurse friend I worked with for 25+ years; she lives about 3 miles from me & she's just had her left thumb done & now will have the right (dominant) thumb joint done in Oct. When either of us have surgery, the other helps. And we also take each other to the ER when necessary (my DH no longer drives).

11:18 pm

the surgery is weird; it's the base of the thumb; so about 3/4" above the wrist; they remove the *rotten" bone, then they make a cut about 1/2 way up your elbow on the inside of your forearm & take a tendon from there, curl it up & put it in in place of the bone. It's called the "anchovy" procedure because that's what the tendon is curled up like to replace the bone.

11:19 pm

That's wonderful. Two nurse friends taking care of one another. I had no idea surgery could help with arthritis.

11:20 pm

The "anchovy" procedure sounds ghastly! Hopefully the outcome is worth it.

11:21 pm

Recovery takes almost 2 months; but the joint may still hurt and swell, it's just the pain is less and not nearly as bad as the bone-on-bone pain.

11:21 pm

evil

11:21 pm

So sorry ... wrong box

11:21 pm

Thank you! I didn't have that! :-)

11:22 pm

Any time, Nef :D

11:23 pm

I did have the reverse word, though

11:24 pm

My mother had rheumatoid arthritis and really suffered a lot. Her father actually died from arthritis (affected his breathing). I am lucky to have escaped so far.

11:25 pm

Keep me posted on your surgery please.

11:26 pm

I'll be back ... have to pay attention to my hosts for a few.

11:26 pm

I think I might benefit from that surgery. But as long as can still use my hands, I'm reluctant.

11:27 pm

Rheumatiod Arthritis is one of those auto-immune diseases.

11:27 pm

Ugh, you, too, harp! My hands are thankfully free from pain. If I couldn't do origami, art and crochet, I would be a very grouchy woman.

11:28 pm

harp, if the pain starts affecting your everyday activities; then have the surgery.

11:29 pm

Like I said, after surgery is much more comfortable than before.

11:30 pm

I know. I had trgger fnger surgery awhile ago and it didn't really improve my motion like I'd wanted. I decided after that to wat for extreme pain before any more electve surgeres.

11:32 pm

I'm dur for another shot of steroids into my thumb joint in a couple of weeks. I wish I could say that this is "elective" surgery; but it reaches a point where a person really doesn't have much of a choice.

11:33 pm

clue for ed7 please?

11:33 pm

I'm now wearing a brace to immobilize my left thumb so I can do stuff. Even holding a drinking glass hurts right now.

11:34 pm

I don't have it ch; but am now looking

11:35 pm

11:45 pm

Thank you for saying that ru. We had some internet connection problems earlier & I hoped that this grid would have been a fluke & that the *real* grid would be here when I would be able to get it up again.

11:45 pm

i knew it was trouble when the red boxes went on for hours at the flip
