what we did too, Maisie. anything longer we took in the suitcase, but for a few days, an overnight bag is a must
Our next stay is 4 nights so will repack the overnight bag while there
we actually used our carry-on bags as our overnight bags.
Thats what we are doing
we had zip closed bags in our suitcases which would take anything larger than the 100ml requirement. in the carry-on bags, all our meds, signed list by our GP, all our paperwork and two changes of clothes. try and wear your anoraks etc as you go on board. not counted as hand-luggage then.
oh, and our toiletries of course.

We have an overnight flight so our coats can double up as blankets if it gets cold,
planes are always too hot or too cold, or both
they hand out the softest cuddly blankets on board Maisie, and save the pillow for the small of your back.
